It is so troubling that those with Psychosis are not treated. Hallucinations was real to them and over time became the truth.

Imagine saying ghosts sit by the graveside or gravestones. At some point in the old time, some people were crazy and hallucinating. Others were trying to have fun, they talked and people believed them.

Churches and mosques should be preaching against all the falsehood. There is nothing like witch!
We would have to believe in proper mental healthcare before this can happen. How I wish

Misery loves company. Seeing a person post about his happy marriage is a hard and bitter pill for them to swallow. They prefer to read stories about bad marriages and the unhappiness that characterizes said marriages. That way, they get to find comfort in the knowledge that other people are as miserable and dissatisfied with life as they are
This is it

But then they turn around and blame women for modern marriages not lasting. They don’t even want marriages to last so why bother women about it?

If you didn't want your family choices being scrutinized by the public, you should have kept them private.

I no know who African woman offend but I noticed that its always women or children that are labelled witches. I have hardly seen men being accused of witchcraft or even little boys.its always the women or little girls being called that.

Infact there's a yoruba proverb that accuses women who stay long being married as witches. They say obinrin tomanpe nile oko man'di aje and if a woman doesn't want to stay long in her husbands house they'll accuse her of being promiscuous
It’s because Africans are still stuck in the old western cultures that they brought with them during colonialism. In old English and other western cultures, women are easily branded witches if they have an opinion, a loud voice, an art or craft that men don’t approve of. There are so many layers to Western colonization of Africa and we’re still stuck with a lot of them even though the physical chains are gone. We might go another century before we’re probably rid of the mental chains. If at all

GloriousGbola:
So a simple example from way back.

Petrol has always been cheapest in lagos compared to other states.for several reasons. During fuel scarcity in the 1990s and 2000s a lagos based petrol station dealer in lagos could order a truck from a retailer and pay a million. The next thing he would be told the truck has been 'diverted' to kano. In kano the truck can sell for twice or thrice the cost in lagos. They give the dealer back his money, add maybe 500k on top. Everyone in the transaction is happy but customers in lagos are slapped with fuel scarcity.

This has been going on for decades and as long as there is an imposed price of petrol that is not consistent with its true market price, there will be issues of smuggling.

There is too much money to be made and Nigerians across the entire chain only want to get paid. Be it officials, security agents - anyone who can intervene to stop it. It is actually a Nigerian story. Any measure to ensure sanity in a system is defeated by Nigerians themselves.
Crazy.
Aren’t we so creative but mostly in the ways that hurts the poor masses. 😒

Pete would've been a good choice but his history with the black community in South bend when he was mayor will really hurt his chances
She’s a woman they’re going to find something wrong with her. Hilary wasn’t likable enough plus “her emails” 🙄. Kamala wasn’t black enough and she laughed too much. I promise you AOC won’t be an exemption.

The only type of woman they would vote for president would be the typical misogyny foot soldier (if at all). But if those type of women live their lives according to the reality they are trying to vote in, they wouldn’t be running for president.

Na you suppose to use common sense. Why would anyone who is not mad snuggle petrol from Nigeria where it is “more expensive “ to Benin where it is “cheaper “?
First of all that was a question. You didn’t reply before you started asking me about smugglers. I was genuinely asking what’s the cost of petrol to Nigerians compared to the surrounding countries who I’m inclined to believe have similar economies. Is it cheaper or not for Nigerians? I’m truly asking because I don’t know.

As for your question. If someone smuggles petrol, it might not necessarily be because they’re going to sell it more expensive elsewhere. It might be because they got it from illegal sources in Nigeria and can’t sell there. Maybe due to licensing issues or they don’t have the infrastructure to distribute it to end users. So they smuggle wholesale to people who will sell it elsewhere. Either way they make their profit because they are part of class who can get it for cheap or next to nothing. People who can smuggle petrol have connections. The end consumer doesn’t have that privilege.

How much is petrol in other countries neighboring Nigeria? It seems we pay the most out of other African countries.

pafun:
Idiut ni man yi o. First I don’t know where in “metro Atlanta” he is buying his gas from. Must be a dangerous neighborhood. Secondly does he realize that we were subsidizing petrol for the entire West Africa region? What nation can afford that?
When monkeys like Kperogi take one commodity and links it to minimum wages just to try and prove a lame point you should also ask him how much an apartment costs to rent in “metro Atlanta “ and compare it to Nigeria. Ask him how much one plantain, one mango, one corn etc costs and compare to Nigeria.
In my Atlanta neighborhood by the way, gasoline sells at around $3.90 and a single bedroom apartment goes for around $1400 per month. Now go compare that to Nigeria using the same minimum range. So dumb an article.

In states like California and Illinois petrol cost higher so why not use those states to compare?
When it is summer come back and narrate this your story again, by then in places like California petrol will be $5 plus.
Well if he uses those expensive states to compare, he will also have to use their minimum wage to calculate which is far more than the minimum wage he used to calculate.

There’s no way around this topic except that Tinubu has caused an insane increase of petrol that’s far more expensive than other countries pay.

And you’re right the petrol price in America fluctuates. It can go up and down. But it seems in Nigeria it only goes up. Does it go down after spikes like these?
I’m not sure but educate me if I’m wrong.

Mumu man. It's like saying 3 bedroom house rent in Nigeria in cheap because you are renting the house in Zamfara state. Why don't you use Lagos State? Oga use California to compare.
If he used California to compare, he’ll also have to use California minimum wage to do the calculations. Which will still come out to similar numbers.

He used minimum wage of around 7 dollars to calculate it. The lowest dirt paid Californian makes 3x that.

Interesting. I find him very captivating. I love an intelligent man. That’s part of the reason why Trump is quite repulsive to me.

I know Trump appeals to mostly intellectually deficient Americans so I’m wondering how they can make the switch from a Trump to a Pete.

Except as you said Ima if he crashes the economy then of course they’ll come running back (as usual) for the Dems to fix it so they can bring back all their isms in the next election round.

It would be interesting to see him as a candidate. And no you didn’t underestimate American homophobia. For all the noise the right wing makes about LGBTQ people on the internet, we’re probably the most anti-LGBTQ country among the first world countries.

I’m wondering what their slogan against him will be.
IMAliyu2:
Yeah, I think Pete is one of the better options, and will likely fare well against most Republican candidates, except Trump.
Tho I might be underestimating American homophobia maybe, that may lessen his chances.

But if what we're predicting is correct, that trump will crash the economy. If this comes to pass, and Dems relentlessly capitalize on that fact, and we get Pete vs Vance in 2028, my money is on Pete.

Trump has a unique kind of charisma (being entertaining) that can only be matched or countered by someone outside of the Democratic party.
So not unless someone like John Stewart decides to get involved in politics, there aren't exactly that many options.
Maeve7:
Pete can’t win. My two cents. I know nobody asked me. grin

What do you think of Mayor Pete?

He’s one of the most charismatic ones out there now.
His charisma rivals Obama’s in my opinion. Do you think his charisma is enough to win over radical right wingers?

IMAliyu2:
I think being controversial or radical is no longer a problem.
They voted for Trump, a person even his voters consider dictatorial or fascist.

I don't think being called a socialist is the worst thing possible. Heck a charismatic enough candidate can own it, and still stand a chance of being elected.

Take a look at the donation map of Bernie in 2020, look at the range of people/states that he was getting.
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 7:30pm On Nov 29, 2024
I get what you’re saying but the same message when presented to republican voters immediately gets labeled as socialism. Even as they’re actively benefiting from it.

White people are the most dependent on social benefits and welfare but the moment it’s mentioned in politics, they suddenly all hate socialism and handouts.

They dogged out Bernie for being too radical left. Even Some democrats think he’s too far left. And what was his offense? He advocated for benefits that other first world countries already give their citizens without hassles.

America’s problem is complex but at the crux of it is that we’re are way more regressive than the outside world actually knows.

IMAliyu2:
Now the left doesn't need the lies, because it has reality on its side, but the Dems to need to match Republicans in there energy, and actually work on counter massaging, and using whatever political power they have to push for their policies or abstruct Republicans.
Left Economic populism (I'm not talking about communism, but SocDem policy ) is the only way forward if the Dems want to regain power. To actually believe in and be relentless in the massaging that they're on the side of the working class. (I doubt that will happen because they'd risk scaring there big donnars)
People have grievances, they feel the system is failing them, they see inflation and stagnant wages, and growing income inequality. A major reason people gave for why the voted for Trump is because they "want affordable groceries".

Coming to them with a neolib message that "No the system is working just fine we just need to tweak it a little" is insufficient enough of a message, or narrative.
This was the appeal of Bernie Sanders (Which I believe Trump could have never won against), he managed to climb to the national stage during the 2016 primaries absent any party consultants, funding or apparatus. Someone that has been consistent in his massage for decades and gives people a narrative and a place to correctly point their grievances. At the corpos, at the 1%, at wage theft, while not compromising on being socially progressive.

There a ton of Bernie supporters that turned to Trump voters, heck there's the strange anomaly of AOC voters that voted Trump, or states where they voted a Dem governor, but voted Trump for president. Maybe the Democratic party should examine what happened there.

I'd be super pissed if they listed to rightwingers claiming they lost the presidential because the "left too woke" or some other nonsense like that.

. I don't like the idea of politicians lying to people. If the people want lies though then good luck to them because nothing will be done to make things better.
At this point, it’s basically a requirement to be a Republican politician. I know most people agree that all politicians lie to gain votes. Like they make bogus promises or exaggerate things. And everyone accepts it that way (I don’t).

But the level of lying republicans do is out of this world. If you switch camps from Dem to republican, you will need to overcome that something in you that helps you act a little bit like a person with a conscience.

Imagine RFK that people are supporting because he’s anti-vax. Came out to say he never said it. In broad day light! The interviewer replayed the clip in front of him and he wasn’t even moved. It’s a different level of being detached from reality. A republican will look you dead in the eyes & tell you your skin color is green and there’s nothing you can tell them to convince them otherwise.

It’s hard to compete with that type of derangement.
