He said Obama caused the 2008 recession before he became president in 2009.

nateevs:
So now you are being informed. At least you won't mention to anyone again that Iran is 90% depleted.

Step into the world of understanding.

If you are truly after the facts, when you realise that the entire missile capability is underground, then you also know that without US assets on the ground doing the actual counting across 27 missile cities, in a country the size of western Europe, then the US can only guess. The guess is required for all sorts of strategic objectives and analysis, including the cost of war. Their best guess is 30% degradation.

But they don't know.

So if no one knows how long more Iran can keep this up.....and with the world's economy on the brink of collapse over Iran's control of the strait of Hormuz with an iron fist, does it not make sense to call for a cease fire?

This is how people with common sense analyse things..... not all that fanfare-echo chamber-BS you are bringing my way.
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by cococandy(f): 1:53pm On Apr 08
Any how you try to analyze this ceasefire, it amounts to a massive victory for Iran. It wasn’t going to end any other way. They weathered the illegal attacks, the threats of nuclear genocide, and emerged on the other side more victorious. A huge embarrassment to the American people placed on us by our president

To point out the obvious here, Obama accomplished far more than Trump all without a bloodshed. Obama didn't blow up a school full of little girls, commit mass war crimes against the Iranian people, or cause the deaths of American soldiers in a war of aggression.

Only one of these men understands the art of the deal and he never wrote a book about it.

You guy’s self hate and need to capitulate to a racist old white man is the reason why Obama will forever be your enemy because he’s shown you that don’t have to be a yessa guy and you don’t know how to handle that.

Here is President Obama's Iran deal vs. Trump's Iran ceasefire.

Under President Obama:
•The Strait of Hormuz was open because it was never closed.
•Limitations were placed on Iran's uranium enrichment.
•Iran agreed not to to make nuclear weapons.
•International inspectors were permitted into Iran to confirm full compliance.

Under Trump's ceasefire:
•The Strait of Hormuz will open but under direct Iranian control, possibly with a $2 million fee extracted from each vessel passing through. That toll would be split between Iran and Oman. The Strait was only closed because Trump started his war.
•Iran does not have to guarantee a limit on uranium enrichment.
•Iran does not guarantee that it will never develop nuclear weapons and there will be no international inspectors.

And those are just the top line items for Trump's ceasefire. He also stated that Iran's "10 point proposal" is a "workable basis on which to negotiate."

If Trump ratifies that proposal he will have to:
•Lift all primary and secondary sanctions on Iran.
•Withdraw the U.S. military entirely from the Middle East.
•End all attacks on Iran and its allies.
•Release frozen Iranian assets.

Just one question? Which had a greater impact on global economy? Obama's recession or COVID 19? Try to answer honestly. Because the recession in 2008 was child's play when compared to the first 6 months of COVID.
Obama’s recession? You mean Obama caused a recession while he was not yet president?

This is why I feel people shouldn’t waste time debating conservatives. You spin lies and rewrite history when the argument isn’t going your way.

The 2008 recession (started in 2007 btw) that was created under a Republican president and Obama was popular for rescuing Americans from? That’s the same recession you are implying was caused by Obama when he wasn’t even president until 2009?

I’m yet to see a conservative on this thread who has even the faintest idea of what they are talking about at any time.

Just rambling in order to be part of the conversation
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by cococandy(f): 1:35pm On Apr 08
This agreement with Iran is a huge win for them. Trump boxed himself in to this or riskbombing a country with 90 plus million people. Iranian sanctions gone and they get big bucks for every ship going through the strait.

This is how Trump gets out of the mess though, so in spite of Israel being upset with it, the deal is done.
This will give Iran the time and money to rebuild their military and no real regime change. With Russia in support of them of course

Now, Iran has full charge of the Strait of Hormuz.
The biggest foreign policy catastrophe in decades.

They suffered he indignity of having a black man be their president. That’s all it was
by Teri Carter, Lexington Herald-Leader

"Trump supporters say, 'We suffered 8 years under Barack Obama.'

The day Obama took office, the Dow closed at 7,949 points. Eight years later, the Dow had almost tripled.

General Motors and Chrysler were on the brink of bankruptcy, with Ford not far behind, and their failure, along with their supply chains, would have meant the loss of millions of jobs. Obama pushed through a controversial, $80 billion bailout to save the car industry. The U.S. car industry survived, started making money again, and the entire $80 billion was paid back, with interest.

While we remain vulnerable to lone-wolf attacks, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully executed a mass attack here since 9/11.

Obama ordered the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.

He drew down the number of troops from 180,000 in Iraq and Afghanistan to just 15,000, and increased funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

He launched a program called Opening Doors which, since 2010, has led to a 47 percent decline in the number of homeless veterans.

He set a record 73 straight months of private-sector job growth.

Due to Obama’s regulatory policies, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 12%, production of renewable energy more than doubled, and our dependence on foreign oil was cut in half.

He signed The Lilly Ledbetter Act, making it easier for women to sue employers for unequal pay.

His Omnibus Public Lands Management Act designated more than 2 million acres as wilderness, creating thousands of miles of trails and protecting over 1,000 miles of rivers.

He reduced the federal deficit from 9.8 percent of GDP in 2009 to 3.2 percent in 2016.

For all the inadequacies of the Affordable Care Act, we seem to have forgotten that, before the ACA, you could be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition and kids could not stay on their parents’ policies up to age 26.

Obama approved a $14.5 billion system to rebuild the levees in New Orleans.
All this, when Mitch McConnell famously asserted that his singular mission would be to block anything President Obama tried to do.

While Obama failed on his campaign pledge to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, that prison’s population decreased from 242 to around 50.

He expanded funding for embryonic stem cell research, supporting ground breaking advancement in areas like spinal injury treatment and cancer.

Credit card companies can no longer charge hidden fees or raise interest rates without advance notice.

Most years, Obama threw a 4th of July party for military families. He held babies, played games with children, and served up barbecue.

Welfare spending went down: for every 100 poor families, just 24 receive cash assistance, compared with 64 in 1996.

Obama comforted families and communities following more than a dozen mass shootings.

He was the first president since Eisenhower to serve two terms without personal or political scandal.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

President Obama was not perfect, as no man and no president is, and you can certainly disagree with his political ideologies. But to say the USA suffered?

If that’s the argument, if this is how we suffered for 8 years under Barack Obama, I have one wish: may we be so fortunate as to suffer 8 more."

Gambling on global economic decline and world war 3 just to “own the libs”? What kind of diagnosis do we give this condition?

And you guys call others deranged?

I’m an emotional liberal screaming into a lake or whatever you guys call it. Please don’t call me reasonable.

Reasonable in this context being someone who sits back and looks at what is going and says yea that’s alright? No thanks.

You’re not the one who has to go work today to hold the hands of kids barely into their 20s who will never walk again because DJT can’t handle his emotions. You get to be “reasonable” from a safe distance. Not all of us have that luxury.

Oh you read on the news that Iranians want him to liberate them? Why didn’t I think of doing that?

Whose news BTW? American media right? Same Iranians whose kids are being leveled in schools and hospitals? Of course American media told you they love it.

That they are enjoying the feeling of Trump bombing their bridges while they’re are probably on it. Threatening their power plants on which many of them depend.

This is 2026, You can find whatever information that fits your mindset if you look hard enough on the internet. I’m certain any of them who were under the illusion that Trump would make things better for their country have quickly become disillusioned.

But pls don’t call me reasonable. I find it condescending even if you don’t mean it that way.

ono:
Coco, you are a reasonable person, now take a step back a bit and think about this: Trump's vituperation in the lead up to Maduro's capture and eventual incarcerations are well known. Remember how the legacy media condemned his actions, said a lot of "not very nice" things about him, mocked him and all sorts. Today, Venezuelans (regardless of what american MSM are writing and stuff) are most grateful to Trump for liberating them.

I have read in the news that many Iranians are rooting for Trump to finish the job and eliminate their oppressors.

What Trump is doing is one of the most difficult job ever undertaken by any American president in some 50 years. I don't for once think he does not know what he's doing or appreciate the enormity of what he's into. In fact, I think these terrorist IRGC guys are gradually walking into Trump's trap. I read in the news just a few hours ago that Israel has taken out the new IRGC Military Intelligence Chief, one Major-General something.

I will say let Trump and the Israelis finish the job they started. They're making huge progress as things stand. Coco should not read or listen to what will not add value. Let's stay focused, endure the transient pains inflicted on the world by these last kicks of a dying terrorist regime and the world will be a better place when they're long gone!

That’s why they are firing all of the generals that are telling them not to do it.

He is doing a great job of encouraging people to hate america which leads to more people wanting to hurt our country.

I just want to make MAGA followers fully aware that anytime Donald Trump says he’s going to target civilian infrastructure — such as Iran’s power grid or power plants — that’s a war crime.

There are common “rules of war” that civilized nations, led by moral leaders, agree to. There aren’t many — it is war, after all — but one of the most fundamental is not to attack civilian targets or key infrastructure that civilians rely on, especially when doing so would almost certainly cost civilian lives.

Actions like the ongoing threats Trump has made against Iran which would do exactly that.

You know who does that, ignores those rules and only cares about causing as much death and destruction as possible?

Terrorists.

So if you support Trump’s threats to attack civilian targets in Iran, you’re telling me your moral compass is more aligned with how terrorists view war than with civilized societies led by people who value ethics, morals, and human life.

And I don’t want to hear, “they would do it to us.”

Because you’re right — they probably would. And that’s exactly what makes them terrorists, while the United States is supposed to be a leader of the free world: a nation that leads by example through its morals, ethics, and values.

If you’re trying to justify the behavior and actions of Donald Trump — or of our nation — based on how terrorists or sponsors of terrorism conduct themselves, then how is the president, or you, any better or different than they are?
