IslamRe: An Essay On Courtship In Islam by Cocodiva:
Nice post @Op . The issue of courtship in Islam is a very interesting one considering the prevalent social mess we find ourselves in as muslims in recent times. It takes the mercy and fear of Allah to remain firm and not get sucked into the fitnah.
I'm particularly fascinated by the area of match-making and being a consultant for people.Alhamdulilah,I'm married ,but its just something I'm passionate about.interestingly, people around me have taken notice of this and now ask me for referrals. But there are some times you come up empty.sometimes I have sisters on hand, but I don't have serious, and ready brothers to match them with and vice-versa.my question is,how(and I mean, islamic) do you source for serious and ready brothers and sisters? Hope I am not derailing the thread?
HealthRe: Alternative Methods To TTC by Cocodiva(op): 12:26pm On Sep 14, 2013
I'l like to talk about the effect of what we consume.Either eat or drink. The saying ,"you are what you eat" readily comes to mind.

There is a strong link between our diet and fertility. As research has shown in recent times. Its generally accepted that high sugar consumption is not beneficial both to our general health and our fertility. In light of this,I'l like to mention the benefit of green tea.
Most of us consume beverages in Nigeria and call it tea. Tea is actually obtained from steeping tea plant leaves or other parts in water.the resultant drink is tea.
Green tea is rich in antioxidants.antioxidants are known to prevent the effects of free radicals in the body.it's also known to have anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties.in recent times,it has also been found to be an antidiabetic agent and a fertility booster for all ttc. It is particularly beneficial to women with PCOS because of its effect on insulin resistance.
But for ladies with PCOS,it should not be taken with dairy products such as milk, nor soy milk or nondairy creamer.because it reduces its impact on insulin.lemon juice will do just fine.

PoliticsRe: Olusegun Agagu Slumps And Dies At 65 by Cocodiva: 7:09am On Sep 14, 2013
olowodaran: young man it is not by force to comment if you don't know anything, there were massive transformation during agagu administration ranging from bore holes to road construction, he is beta dan late adefarati who ruled before him and mimiko who ruled after him and still ruling, his wife funke agagu also help by donating to orphanages, money, rice, g.Oil etc. Agagu is good. Am from ondo state and the man did well. R.I.P agagu
All of these things you mentioned can be termed "massive" in your opinion? People like you are the reason Nigeria has not moved forward. Even, the wife's contribution can not be called significant compared to what is at their disposal for governance.except they took it out of their private account.
Anyway,I can't even say RIP but I pray God grants his family comfort and fortitude to bear the loss.

Thanks , @Rute ,lore&Temi and safe06 . @honiepie24,I'm feeling that huge hug o cheesy .thank God for the safe trip .

@Rute, in addition to what honiepie said, soy should be used with caution and only by women not naturally ovulating.cos it acts as a natural clomid.when not used in correct/adequate dosage, you end up with cysts due to incomplete ovulation and an increase in estrogen levels which may encourage fibroids. Its good only when you know where your individual issue is and with the correct dosage.vitex is better cos its not a hormone in itself but works with your body to encourage hormone balance

@Amazeballs,Zinc,vit C and E supplements are quite effective for semen parameters.but if he is the type that does not like to take tabs, then ugwu extracts is also effective for semen.Though ugwu ls widely known for blood improvement, but its also effective for semen.research as shown ugwu extract to improve significantly, sperm motility and count after its use for just 7days.to improve the taste if your dh has sweet tooth, add honey and milk to the extract and just tell him its a green drink cheesy
Walnuts(asala) is also rich in substances that improve semen qualities as well as almonds and tigernuts(ofio).
He can chew on them or you can add the walnuts and almonds to his salad or cereal in the morning and you can extract the milk from the tigernut and serve him as a drink.to avoid the chaff
Lycopene is another essential antioxidant for semen. This is abundant in tomato.select fresh and very red tomatoes and blend or juice them.and serve him as a drink.when the tomatoes are very red, they tend to be sweet by themselves so no need to add any sweetner.harmonise all of this along with his diet and you'l hopefully see significant improvement.also, check for infections,to eliminate any underlying factors

@priscaver,You can get the hotwater bottle from pharmacies and drug stores.it goes for about 350 naira.Boil your water, ensuring that it gets to boiling point(it starts bringing out steam) and then you pour straightaway into your bottle.you should have ensured that everyother thing you'l be using is ready,so you lay on your back and apply.at this point, the bottle will be very hot,so you can't put it directly on your body,so you fold a cotton cloth, not white cos castor oil stains.I use a small face towel.put it under the bottle and relax, mostly in front of the TV or reading a book so I don't get bored and want to get up.after some time, the hotness reduces,so you can remove the towel/cotton cloth and apply directly on the nylon you're using as the layer on top of your flannel.its just the edges of the bottle you need to put the cloth under cos it remains hot for longer.I normally do 20-30mins each time and then follow it up with abdominal massage.hope this helps
HealthRe: Alternative Methods To TTC by Cocodiva(op): 3:46pm On Sep 11, 2013
@Venuss, If you are based in lagos, check healthplus. They stock GNC products , nature's way ,Holland and barett . These brands produce those herbs.and some other ones too.
For the flannel for your castor oil pack, you can improvise using a cotton singlet,I use one of dh's old singlet. cheesy I cut the top off and use the part below.I fold into two. I'l advice that you have a dedicated jar where you keep it for future use.so that you don't have to wash.because it'l save your castor oil .I use an empty mayonnaise jar,the big size.so after each use, uncap the jar,put your flannel and cap it back.
Hope this helps

@Marjuly, there are actually two views on the issue of using vitex, one says use up until ovulation and stop, and the other says you can use all through your cycle.
I lean more towards use all through your cycle cos other research as shown that it doesn't hurt anything.Just make sure to test after every two weeks wait so that you know for sure if you'v concieved and then you stop immediately.
Yes,there is a test to check if you have a hostile cervical mucus.I don't know what its called, you can ask your doc, though most gynae in Nigeria don't take it into consideration, but funnily ,that's the only issue some people have and they don't know it. Its more of an immunological thing tho'

As you await response from honiepie, you can prepare ugwu extract and drink.like three times a week.it works like a charm. Buy the leaves, wash clean and wring with your hands until the extracts from the leaves come out.then drink.its a natural blood tonic. But have you found out why AF came twice?that's necessary so that you can prevent a re-occurence.All the best

priscaver: all this maca and vitex are foreign supplements,d last time i prized vitex i was told to bring 10k.pls think of readily available naija herbs,
My dear, these are the ones I have personally used and felt a difference from. Yes I know they are expensive.and this is because they are foreign.I know we also have herbs that are effective, but unfortunately, they are not known to the general public both in name and appearance. They are known only to the herbalists(not juju).the knowledge is passed to family members alone.besides, there's inadequate research into this native herbs that'l make the public aware of the ones that work.the best you get for now is going to the practitioners and they give you the herbal concoctions(agbo)and it even has to be on recommendations lest they hand you something else.(Naija for you). But all hope is not lost,we may have people that can educate us on here.nobody's an island of knowledge.pls whoever knows should educate us.

All these so called pastors are worse off than the people they preach to.
IslamRe: Prayers For Couples Trying To Conceive A Child (TTC) by Cocodiva: 4:51pm On Sep 01, 2013
@Beelie, I'l also advise that you don't use the herbs for eda this cycle cos of the drugs you're using already cos it could interfere with how the drugs work in your body.you can instead prop up your but.t with pillows after the deed to encourage the flow .
But if you must use the herbs in this cycle, then use hours apart from the clomid so that they'l operate independently of each other.I'm positive that this cycle will work for you bi-ithnillah.
@amazeballs,thanks for the words of inspiration, they are soul-lifting. (((hugs))) for your dd

Another good herb for ttc is maca.
Maca is also known as peruvian ginseng. It contains about 60 minerals and phytonutrients.
For ttc;
it supports thyroid health
It balances hormones
It increases energy, stamina and mental clarity
It improves sex.ual function. As such its usually called a natural aphrodisiac
For people having hormonal imbalance, or low se.xual function, you would want to learn more about how maca can help you.

IslamRe: Five Golden Tricks Of Shaitan! by Cocodiva: 10:28pm On Aug 30, 2013
Nice reminders @Op.In this age where vices have replaced values.The fourth point brings to mind the hadith that says "Islam started as a strange thing and would end as a strange thing,give glad tidings to the strangers" . Which simply advises that;
As muslims, we should not feel odd in the society due to practising our religion. No matter what people say or how they percieve the act. We should not join the bandwagon,if it amounts to wrong-doing.no matter the number of people doing it.If its not Islamic, don't do it.
May Allah make it easy.

Vitex is a herb. Also called chasteberry. It's good for ttc cos it regularises hormones in women and aids fertility. It has some other benefits too.you can google it and read about it.Are you also TTC?

AmatuRahman, thanx for your response. I feel you, esp. About the herbs that you feel like taking them all.lol
Its not easy dear ,you just have to keep forging ahead until you get the desired result.
As per diet, sugar is definately not a friend of TTC,but its so hard to completely eliminate.
Are you on any exercise routine(s)? Have you heard about vitex?

Hello Everyone

The purpose of this topic is to provide a support system to people trying to concieve in a holistic way.
Trying to concieve a child can be a very difficult period of ones life and because there are many factors that can cause it,its good to approach it in a multifaceted way.Natural health practitioners believe that allowing the body to go back to its normal course can solve many of the health issues mankind is battling with today, infertility inclusive.Complementing medical treatments with natural methods has been found to increase the chances of conception a lot
Approaches ,such as exercise routines, yoga, eating balanced diet, organic foods and fertility-friendly foods ,acupuncture, use of herbs are what we are going to be sharing here in order to educate and enlighten ourselves on ways to increase our chances of conception. Not leaving out those foods, acts that we engage in which hinders TTC that should be done away with .Thanks
