Cognitive dissonance A state of anxiety and discomfort arising from holding opposing beliefs at the same time. The resulting confusion and distress, motivates the need to resolve the contradiction in any way necessary, whether this be by creating differing belief systems, or questioning one’s grasp on reality. This is a key underlying effect of gaslighting.

Cycle of Narcissistic Abuse Narcissistic Personality Disordered individuals follow a pattern within relationships covering three phases: idealisation, devaluation and discard.
Idealisation is all about worship and adoration. One is “love bombed” receiving incredibly fast declarations of undying love, constant reminders of the unparalleled love shared, and intense focus on meeting victim’s needs.
This is starkly contrasted with devaluation where the abusive narcissist does a 180 and deliberately conveys contempt to disempower the victim and keep them insecure about the relationship.
Discard delivers on threats embedded in devaluation, by rejecting and abandoning the victim.

HealthAfrican Countries Begin Importing Madagascar's COVID-19 Cure by cocolacec(op): 12:23pm On May 03, 2020
On Monday, President Andry Rajoelina presented a herbal remedy that he said showed encouraging results in fighting off the coronavirus. The president posted photos from the presentation and images of what he calls “Covid Organics” medicine on his Facebook page.

He also lifted the lockdown in three main cities in the country, adding that a Malgache “remedy” for the disease had been successfully tested. The medicine, Rajoelina says, is based on the studies of the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research and will now be distributed across Madagascar free of charge. So, what is this medicine about? What is it made from? And how effective can it be in the fight against Coronavirus?

First, we know, according to the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research, that the principal ingredient in the concoction is derived from Artemisia annua, a green leafy plant that emits a striking smell that is also known as sweet wormwood.

Now, it is important to note that no drug or herbal medicine has been certified as cure for the COVID-19 and in fact the World Health Organization has said that favorite medicinal foods, like lemon, honey and ginger, are only good for general health but have no proven ability to cure the new coronavirus disease. But then, at a time when the world is in search of a remedy and vaccine for the novel virus, many studies and claims are being evaluated.

Lockdown: FG delivers 110 trucks of grains to Kano

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development The Federal Government has delivered 110 trucks of grains to Kano State to cushion the effect of the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19 in the state.

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in a statement on Tuesday by her Special Assistant on Media, Mr Salisu Dambatta said 10 trucks of rice were delivered last two weeks.

“In addition to that, we have directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to deliver 100 trucks of grains to five locations in Kano state for distribution to poor and vulnerable households. ” This makes it a total of 110 trucks to Kano.

“The grains in 100 trailers now on their way to Kano, comprise, millet, sorghum and maize, which were released from silos holding the country’s strategic food reserve located across the country.

“One of the humanitarian interventions provided by the Federal Government is the delivery of food items as palliatives to the poor and vulnerable in all states affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to ease the lockdown situation,” Farouq said.

She said the ministry would continue to work closely with all the agencies under its purview, including NEMA in discharging its mandates, including providing effective coordination of humanitarian interventions both nationally and internationally. According to her, this is for the benefit of the citizens of this country, especially during this COVID-19 Pandemic.

Foreign AffairsUK Considering To Use Kenya As Testing Ground For Coronavirus Vaccine by cocolacec(op): 1:57pm On Apr 25, 2020
UK considering to use Kenya as testing ground for coronavirus vaccine
- Fergus Walsh, the BBC medical correspondent, said the researchers were considering taking the vaccine trials to Nairobi should the results in UK laboratory delay

- According to him, Kenya was selected as a potential testing ground for the vaccine on the basis infection cases were likely to skyrocket in the country

- The revelation did not go down well with Kenyans who trooped to social media sites to condemn the suggestion

- Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua tasked the government to come out clean and tell the country if there was such an agreement with the UK

Scientists from the United Kingdom have hinted at bringing coronavirus vaccine trials in Kenya should the process delay to yield results in the UK.

A team of medics from Oxford University is said to have earmarked Kenya as a potential testing ground for the vaccine on the basis that the country's infection cases were likely to skyrocket.

Fergus Walsh, the BBC medical correspondent, on Thursday, April 23, said the researchers were considering to take the vaccine trials to Nairobi should the results in UK laboratory delay.

"...if (scientists) they don’t get early quick results from the UK, they are considering a trial in Kenya where the epidemic of the coronavirus will be on the rise," he said during an interview with the British broadcaster.

Welsh who gave an overview of what was to be expected in the research process noted the process was tedious and would require many vaccines with dozens in development.

Then we will need billions of doses and expect a huge debate over which countries and which groups of people get the vaccine first,” he added.

The revelation by the UK medical correspondent did not go down well with Kenyans who trooped to social media sites to condemn the suggestion.

Narc Kenya party leader Marth Karua tasked the government to come out clean and tell the country if there was such an agreement with the UK

"Ministry of Health, kindly confirm if UK vaccine trials are going to be conducted on Kenyans while we know that UK and Europe have by far more COVID-19 cases than Kenya and Africa?

As it stands, UK has 138, 078 confirmed infections and a total of 18, 738 fatalities, being the fifth most hit in terms of deaths.

As of April 23, Kenya had recorded a total of 320 infections, 89 recoveries and 14 deaths.

Foreign AffairsChina Plans To Put 300 Million Chinese People In Africa by cocolacec(op):
Aldo Matteucci 19 Jun 2012
In a two parts article Asia Times[1] argues that 300 million Chinese will soon migrate into Africa. This prediction is startling enough to warrant consideration.

The argument relies on a mix of “push” and “pull” factors.

Despite its “one child policy” China is overpopulated: the mainland cannot sustain more than 700 million. Environmental factors, basically lack of water, will “push out” the rest. This is strictly a Malthusian argument, which ignores the paramount role of technology in development.

One unintended consequence of the one-child regulation, argues the author, will be prosperity driven by pampered Chinese kids who – now free of stifling Confucian values – will grow up to be very ambitious entrepreneurs. This is the “pull” factor.

“Africa represents a land of opportunity for the Chinese migrant. And history shows it is often strong kinship-based ethnic groups whose economic opportunities are more limited at “home” who become the “stranger-traders” abroad, for better or worse. This has certainly happened in parts of Africa where the Chinese represent a valuable link to manufactured goods and novel services unavailable in agrarian and peasant-like societies in Africa.”

One is silently thankful for the “limiting factors” still restraining the rest of the mainland Chinese who lived through the “one child” policy.

Why Africa? The author seems to envisage some kind of “Yellow Man’s burden”: the Chinese building links to “agrarian and peasant-like societies in Africa” – never mind that Africa is no longer preponderantly agrarian. The 300 million Chinese would replace or join trading minorities like Asians and Lebanese in Africa (a continent with one billion people altogether and a history of poverty) in expanding trade and consumption. It is not clear to what extent independent Chinese would, in the author’s view, become successful industrial entrepreneurs.

At the moment there are less than fifty million Chinese overseas[2] and one million Chinese in Africa, of which one third in South Africa. For the predicted move to take place within one generation ten million Chinese would have to settle somewhere in Africa each year.

But let’s discard perplexities and look at Chinese history of migration.

From its origins on the Yellow River the Chinese civilization expanded slowly into the Yangtze River basin and beyond to the south and west, changing its agricultural base from wheat and millet to rice production as it advanced.

The interplay of trade and expansion gradually extended the frontiers of China in the northeast, southwest as well as north and northwest. It was a complex process. “Barbarians” first became part of China’s ho-ch’in policy (peace along the border against gifts); this relationship evolved into the tributary system[3]; over time these peoples “surrendered” and were integrated within the regular Chinese chün-hsien (province-district) administrative system[4]. Along this path the Imperial Court may create military colonies to sustain the process. Such expansionist policies were deemed very expensive and were often discontinued as imperial power waned.

China then was not adverse to projecting power across its borders; its only “overseas adventure” was, however, under the Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan[5] – in direction of Japan. It failed. Historians have long speculated as to why China did not build an empire. My conjecture is quite simple: it did not need to.

Chinese diasporas have emerged in particular around Southeast Asia. The Middle East is on the cards[6], together with Africa. Though these diasporas have achieved even very significant economic importance, the numbers of Chinese involved have remained characteristically small[7]. Their presence has not been without its difficulties.

Raw materials vs. infrastructure, investment, and manufactured goods: this is the complex complementarity that links Africa and China today. Small (and transient) numbers are needed to bring this complex relation to fruition and to secure the allocation of surplus among participant elites. Whether collateral consumption by African non-elites will justify significant expansion of a (Chinese) trading class in Africa remains an open question[8].

Expansion of the Chinese diaspora in Africa beyond minimal limits needed to fulfill the complementarity might, however, endanger the original and overarching bargain, should ethnic tensions rise. In addition, the massive exit of young workers may complicate China’s ability to deal with its rapidly ageing population. The Chinese government certainly has the means to control large outflows of its people in the order of magnitude outlined in the prediction so as to prevent such major failures to eventuate.

The author concludes emotionally: “Although the economic and geopolitical motivations of China’s aggressive move into Africa are enormous, the demographic reasons are the most poignant, even desperate. In that sense China needs Africa, not to thrive but actually just to survive.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While the West frets over China taking over Africa, hundreds of Africans in Guangzhou have protested against the death in police custody of a Nigerian.

http://english.caixin.com/2012-06-20/100402905.html

and China is in the midst of a policy campaign against the "three illegals". It seems China will have to revisit its immigration policies.

Foreign AffairsRe: Sweden Defies Lockdown Trend, Bets On Citizens Acting Responsibly by cocolacec(op): 10:07pm On Apr 01, 2020
It’s clear that what has been done so far has been insufficient, above all concerning the number of tests,” said Sten Linnarsson, a professor of molecular systems biology at the Karolinska Institutet, a prominent medical university in Sweden.

On March 25, two days after Britain imposed its nationwide lockdown, Linnarsson was among 2,000 Swedish researchers who demanded stricter regulations in an open letter to the government.

Despite public gatherings being limited from 500 to 50 people, Linnarsson said, he still believes Sweden’s strategy does not go far enough.

“To fight the epidemic you have to test,” he said. “The material presented by the public health authorities is weak, even embarrassing — on a scientific level, it is extremely thin.”

Sweden's state epidemiologist, Anders Tegnell, disagrees.

“We have the best material there is,” he said. “We have support from the very best researchers, not least at Karolinska.”

The Swedish government said Tuesday that it had commissioned the public health authorities to quickly develop a national strategy for extended testing for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Tegnell said Sweden’s strategy was rooted in its “long tradition” of respecting “free will” and on the high-level of respect Swedes have for authorities and their recommendations.

As of Tuesday, Swedish health authorities had recorded close to 4,500 cases of the coronavirus and 180 related deaths.

But despite the increase in cases, so far Swedes appear largely in agreement with their government’s strategy. The population’s trust in health authorities’ handling of the coronavirus increased from 65 percent to 74 percent this month, according to a survey by Kantar Sifo, a Swedish pollster.

Tegnell said the strategy was also informed by the country’s societal structure where people tend to live separately rather than in extended familial groups.

Download the NBC News app for full coverage of the coronavirus outbreak

More than half of all Swedish homes are made up of one resident, according to recent Eurostat figures, the highest proportion among European member states. The average age Swedes move out of their parents’ home is between 18 and 19, compared to a European Union average of 26, according to Eurostat.

Meanwhile, 10 percent of Swedes over the age of 75 live alone and see relatives or friends only once or twice a month, according to official Swedish statistics. The country also has a population density of 25 inhabitants per square kilometer (65 per square mile), while Italy has 205 (531 per square mile) and Spain has 94 (243 per square mile).

But those on the frontline of the country's battle against the coronavirus are beginning to feel the strain.

Anne Rosendahl, a nurse in the intensive care unit at Uppsala University Hospital, said in the last week there has been spike in the number of patients needing intensive care.

“They are seriously ill,” she said. “Half of the people that I care for are young patients and most of them have no preexisting illnesses.”

Rosendahl, 41, said she didn’t know whether the government’s strategy was the right one but nevertheless urged people to follow its recommendations.

“From what I understand, many in Sweden still don’t take this seriously,” she said. “If you go to the gym, go away for Easter break or the like, it will have consequences on what the situation at work will be in a few weeks.”

Karolina Modig reported from Stockholm, Saphora Smith from London.

Foreign AffairsSweden Defies Lockdown Trend, Bets On Citizens Acting Responsibly by cocolacec(op): 10:05pm On Apr 01, 2020
Sweden defies lockdown trend, bets on citizens acting responsibly
“The material presented by the public health authorities is weak, even embarrassing,” one professor who is critical of Sweden's strategy, said.

STOCKHOLM — As the temperature passed 50 degrees in Stockholm last week, people congregated in parks unable to resist socializing during the first signs of spring in the Swedish capital.

This country of 10 million has bucked the trend in Europe, where many countries have locked down their residents in an attempt to slow the coronavirus that has spread throughout the world at breakneck speed.

The Swedish government has left it up to individuals to act responsibly and decide whether to stay home or not. Restrictions that are in place are far more liberal compared with those of the nation's neighbors.

Public gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited but there are no restrictions on private meetings, meaning parties and corporate events can still go ahead. Libraries and swimming pools remain open.

Standing at bars has been prohibited but restaurants are still able to offer table service. Students over 16 have been asked to study from home but kindergartens and elementary schools are still open.

Rather than wide-ranging restrictions, the authorities have instead advised the public to practice social distancing and to work from home, where possible, and urged those over the age of 70 to self-isolate as a precaution. In other words, the country has staked its bets on people acting responsibly.

“There are a few critical times in life when you must make sacrifices, not just for your own sake, but also for those around you, for your fellow human beings, and for our country. That time is now,” Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said earlier this month.

The British government had pursued a similarly laissez-faire approach earlier in the crisis before drastically reversing course and ordering a countrywide lockdown March 23.

Britain's about-turn has left Sweden increasingly isolated in its response to the coronavirus outbreak and has prompted some scientists to suggest the strategy is based on scant scientific evidence and is irresponsible in a pandemic that has already killed more than 35,000 people worldwide.

Suleiman I (Ottoman Turkish: سلطان سليمان اول‎ Sultan Süleyman-ı Evvel; Turkish: Birinci Süleyman, Kanunî Sultan Süleyman or Muhteşem Süleyman;[3] 6 November 1494 – 6 September 1566), commonly known as Suleiman the Magnificent in the West and Kanunî Sultan Süleyman (Ottoman Turkish: قانونى سلطان سليمان‎; "Suleiman the Lawgiver"wink in his realm, was the tenth and longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1520 until his death in 1566.[4]

Under his administration, the Ottoman state ruled over at least 25 million people.
Suleiman succeeded his father as sultan in September 1520 and began his reign with campaigns against the Christian powers in central Europe and the Mediterranean.

Belgrade fell to him in 1521 and Rhodes, long under the rule of the Knights of St. John, in 1522–23. At Mohács, in August 1526, Suleiman broke the military strength of Hungary, with the Hungarian king Louis II losing his life in the battle.

Suleiman became a prominent monarch of 16th-century Europe, presiding over the apex of the Ottoman Empire's economic, military and political power. Suleiman personally led Ottoman armies in conquering the Christian strongholds of Belgrade and Rhodes as well as most of Hungary before his conquests were checked at the Siege of Vienna in 1529.

He annexed much of the Middle East in his conflict with the Safavids and large areas of North Africa as far west as Algeria. Under his rule, the Ottoman fleet dominated the seas from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea and through the Persian Gulf.[5]

At the helm of an expanding empire, Suleiman personally instituted major legislative changes relating to society, education, taxation and criminal law.

His reforms, carried out in conjunction with the empire's chief judicial official Ebussuud Efendi, harmonized the relationship between the two forms of Ottoman law: sultanic (Kanun) and religious (Sharia).[6] He was a distinguished poet and goldsmith; he also became a great patron of culture, overseeing the "Golden" age of the Ottoman Empire in its artistic, literary and architectural development.[7]

Breaking with Ottoman tradition, Suleiman married Hürrem Sultan, a woman from his harem, an Orthodox Christian of Ruthenian origin who converted to Islam, and who became famous in the West by the name Roxelana, purportedly due to her red hair.

Their son Selim II succeeded Suleiman following his death in 1566 after 46 years of rule. Suleiman's other potential heirs, Mehmed and Mustafa, had died; the former had died from smallpox, and the latter had been strangled to death 13 years earlier at the sultan's order.

His other son Bayezid was executed in 1561 on Suleiman's orders, along with Bayezid's four sons, after a rebellion. Although scholars no longer believe that the empire declined after his death,[8] the end of Suleiman's reign is still frequently characterized as a watershed in Ottoman history.

In the decades after Suleiman, the empire began to experience significant political, institutional, and economic changes, a phenomenon often referred to as the Transformation of the Ottoman Empire.[9]

Rebelutionary:
The US mouth one thing and right before our very eyes they do the opposite!

America does not negotiate with terrorists abi?
This is because America is the real terrorist state. The Taliban was created by US in the first place to drive out the Russians.

They only use religion to brainwash and gain support of the ignorant people to believe they represent Islam.

Everything is a chess game.
Just like Boko Haram is used to drove Northerns off their land because of oil, gold etc.

Really? Is this what islam is about? Begging and constituting nuisance to the society or is this just contrived ignorance? If a teacher has this mindset how can his pupils and wards ever amount to anything good?
If Islam was like that how come Arabs dont have almajiri or the Southwest ?

Almajiri is a cultural and political tool that was created to control and manipulate the downtrodden.

Just like agbero lifestyle is fashionable to our youths in Southwest nowadays.

Moving abroad has always been the dream of many, but a recent story by Twitter user Ama Cherries (@EweGirl_) has shade light on the real situation of African women who follow white men abroad.

https://mobile.twitter.com/EweGirl_/status/1230549823167848448
Our African sisters are very naive.Any white man who only apply for visa for you promising you a job is lying and has bad intentions.

A genuine Europe man will apply for a residence permit as a spouse or unmarried partner to work and enter legally.

Another angle,if these women overstayed and thrown into the streets, they can seek aduro on basis of human trafficking .

PoliticsPetition Ban Nigerian Leaders From Seeking Medical Help Abroad by cocolacec(op): 9:16pm On Jan 24, 2020
Nigerian President and officials are known for seeking medical treatment abroad whenever they have little medical issues.

President Muhammed Buhari since attaining Presidency has been to the United Kingdom several times for treatment wasting public funds which could have been put to better use in fixing medical infrastructure in Nigeria.

Many Nigerians have to go to India to seek medical help with a huge fee and the poor who cannot afford this seek non existing miracles from fake healers or have to die.

The state of medical infrastructure is in deplorable state in Nigeria and the Government doesnot care because they have Europe as their medical vacation spot. They can afford to go and visas are easy to get as diplomats anytime they choose to travel.

Nigerians will be very glad if the European Union,The British Parliament and the Bundestag bar present and future Nigerian leaders and their officials from seeking medical help on the continent because this will put a pressure on the Nigeria Government to fix all medical facilities in the country.
