In England: Top 4 in EPL is constant and always compete for the League title. They are the traditional team competing for the title. The others teams also make it more competitive by creating some kind of upsets for these top 4 teams. You can not actually predict which of the top 4 teams will win it until around late April and May when the league ends. That is real competition.

I Germany: There is no such top 4. They only have one team that people already knew will win the league which is Bayern Munich. Other teams only compete for the remaining spot for the champions league and Europe league. They don't compete with Bayern for the title.

I have admitted BAyern is a top 3 club in the world but WITHIN their league they don't have any competition, even when they lose or draw they would probably be 12points ahead making the loss insignificant in the scheme of things.

When westham beat Arsenal at the begining of the season, the other top teams musta felt that's an advantage to them cause traditionally westham aint a top team, but they then beat city and chelsea.

Then the likes of liverpool, Tottenham and Evertons. These clubs consistently bring unusual stiff competition that affect the traditional top 4 as you put it.

But in the BL, one club from no where gives a fantastic showing and then fade away the next season, but Bayern is the only consistent team.

I rember when Shalke, Munchenglasbach, stuttgart and Dortmund where the main competitions.
