No one can take away what Ronaldo has achieved. They only reason I brought this article here is because people on this thread and a few of their friends from other threads said Rooney has not done anything for Manchester United. Yet those he played with (and against) keep praising him. Even the coaches didn't allow him to leave when other clubs wanted him. It is reasonable to conclude even at this time Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic still want him as their team mates.

Who are the people that have downplayed Rooney's achievements in United. Anyone United fan or not that says Rooney has not done anything for united is a bloody liar and hater.

No true united fan will say Rooney has done nothing for the club, that person must tell us the period he feels that way to be clearer.

Rooney IMO can be regarded as a united legend but thetruth is he has been serving us hot watery shyte for like 2yrs now with good excellent performances popping up here and there.

This is the type of useless opinion you would be propagating because it paints Rooney well. Comparing Rooney and Ronaldo makes me believe Ibrahimovic is high on swedish bitters.

Ronaldo has been consistently playing on a higher level than Rooney will ever dream of. Doing it in more than one league and winning balon d'or when playing in them.

Rooney is also the reason Ronaldo is still maintaining his high standard in madrid.

Its a shame! Herrera is the one suffering for Rooneys status as a captain that must play. Mata has been shunted to the RW just to accommodate him. It annoying because he does not put in the performances of a player that is worth the sacrifices or change.

Depay also needs his ears pulled and s real talking to, he needs to make quick decisions in the final third, but I believe he will come good.

Martial is a very good buy, I must confess.

Tho played on the wings, his contribution cant be underestijmated(at least offensively). Anoda goal and an assist today for him.

even though Rooney scored today, he needs time on the bench. Mata is preffered behind the striker but has been nicking goals playing on the RW, we just need to slot in Herrera behind the striker we would have a fluid and deadly attack.

LvG should alternate young and depay to keep them fresh, they should be playing 45' each.

Young is even more positive and effective in his play.

And how many people will this bar be expected to accommodate to be able to say these players are the elite world class players, because in future if a lot of players beat a bar you set. It would seem that evry tom d1ck and harry will be elite and that would mean raising the bar once more which may eventually make Ronnie and Messi meet it. Would you then say Ronnie and Messi were/are not world class?

World class is very subjective IMO and relative to the era when the players played.

It would be unfair to use todays measurement to assess a world class player of 1977, but that does not mean the player was not or is not world class based on his era if he was regarded as world class then.

That you are top 3 among the crap left wouldnt make you world class in my book. E.g there is a scarcity of top full backs in football currently especially under 30yrs, That wouldnt suddenly make Luke Shaw, Ricardo Rodriguez or Coentrao world class players assuming they are the top 3 left in the world when the senior ones have retired

E.g due to exuberant talents in his position when he was at his peak, someone like Totti might never get to be top 3 in his position

Thats why I think setting the bar it doesnt matter if 20 players make it now or only 1 person make it at another time

Who ever expected that 2 players Ronaldo and Messi will consistently give phenomenal performances for years which has made all believe they are world class.

So if in the future like 12 players come around to make the exploits of Ronaldo & Messi look like pub players they (Ronnie & Messi) automatically cease to become world class because it would mean there was a dearth of talent during their time?
