hi guys.

my 4922 will not power up suddenly.

i was changing the channel with the button on the box front and it showed at "1" and died.

previously when it happened I would turn the box off from the wall for 30 seconds
and it will power back up.

now it doesn't anymore. when i hit the switch behind the box to on, nothing happens.
when i hit the off button subsequently it flashes an "8" then off.

any hints or tips.

thanks.

debbie: FINALLY,NIGERIA HAS A LONG WAY TO GO,BUT OUR POLICE FORCE IS A TOTAL DISGRACE .
Your story na small...I should tell you my own, how I was accused of murder and child trafficking.

Their intent is to frustrate and extort you with the most absurd claims.

I slept the night in a cell for reporting a drowning of a boy who went for a swim.

I wasn't even present on the scene, had to drive some two hours to get there.

Unlucky, stupid me, I was the one who went to report the incident, and that is how
the palaver bust.

Had to pay 80k just not spend another night there...and then suddenly the case was settled.

"Disgrace" is putting it lightly.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by coderXO(m): 5:59pm On Aug 28, 2014
gabscity: Yeah! I still prefer getting the 2.5%+ quarterly to be added to my principal quick than the 6%+ after a long 6 months. To me the time also matters. That's y I prefer 91days Tbills.

That's me.
ok i see...to each his own.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by coderXO(m): 2:46pm On Aug 28, 2014
gabscity: pls, how can kgif pay better if it offers 12% in 6months and MM funds offers average of 10% in 3 monthshuh

or am i mistaking somthing?
OK let me clarify this again( because some guys are still not getting it).

Nobody will pay you 10% interest over 3months or 6months.

Meaning you put 100k , then 6 months later you collect 110k.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Any interest rate given to you by a bank or financial institution is quoted as an ANNUAL PERCENT.
(Unless CLEARLY stated otherwise)

If they say they will give you 10%, that is if you leave your money there for a whole year it will increase by 10%.

If you leave your money there 6 months at 10% APY (ANNUAL PERCENT YIELD/RATE), what you will get is approximately a 5%+ increase.

If you leave your money there 3 months at 10% APY (ANNUAL PERCENT YIELD/RATE), what you will get is approximately a 2.5%+ increase.

I hope you understand.

tolutweety: My treasury bill matures in the next few weeks.

Do you think its wise to still re-invest ?
@coderXO : how much is the rate of KGIF at the moment ? will the interest be paid upfront like tbills ??
totally upto you...if you want to reinvest in the TBills, but I don't anticipate this "election" collapse of the system.
Don't worry too much about that.

As for me, I like the money market funds.

kgif currently pay 12% APY. The interest is credited to your balance bi-annually (not paid upfront).
There is a penalty if you cash in before 6 months of holding.

As for me, my next little change will be going into FBN MM which I believe currently pays 11%+ (also invests highly in TBills)

nani667: This is stale gist sir... It's no news that Airtel double charge when their BIS plans are used on non BB devices..... Besides, they clearly stated that you will be charged differently if the BIS plan is used on a non BB device.... So ultimately If you're using a plan not meant for your device on your device you shouldn't complain if stuff like this happens..... I suggest you use the Android plan that gives you 2GB for 2K ✔
Which stale gist? Where in my post do you see I said it is BIS I subscribed for?

I said I subscribed to Airtel Android plan 2GB for N2000 and it double charges.

sarutobie: I am asking the same question 'cos someone said (here on Nairaland) that the android plan also charges 1.5kb/2kb for every 1kb you use, but charge normal during the night and I ask, what is the difference??
The same double charging business from Airtel.

The 2GB is not really 2GB unless you only browse at night.

Thieves.

On another note, I bought one of these shared plans some guys were touting on here NL.

Etisalat particularly, N500 for 250MB.

I sent the Etisalat recharge to the guy, fair enough I got a text message from Etisalat that I had been given 250MB. So the guy did not cheat me thus I won't mention his name.

The darn thing exhausted at 50MB ( data counter)in less than 6 hours.

Lesson: don't buy shared plans that are been advertised on Nairaland threads, at least not Etisalat.

Peace.
PhonesRe: Airtel Bb Plan On Android by coderXO(m):
I bought the airtel android 2gb for 2k.
7 days later my data is left with only 23MB.

My data counter shows 1.34GB.

I just now realized why they quoted a "burn rate"

Why are these people thieves?

If you say 2GB, give 2GB assholes.

If you go to the service info page on their site,
you will notice they write

"BURN RATE
1 kobo/kb from 9:59pm - 5:59am & 1.5 kobo/kb from 5:59am - 9:59pm"

This means that during the day they are charging more to your N2000 during the day than at night which will make it get exhausted faster.

There is an actual mistake in that quotation. It should rather read 0.1kobo and 0.15kobo.

At any rate, I am tired of all the gimmicks by these crooks.

They are pure thieves.

Boycott Airtel NOW!

FCC where are you? What do you do exactly?

gabscity: Their Money Market fund is cool and rewarding. They charge an annual fee of just 0.75% or there about as against ArM's 1.75% but no annual fee on IBTC's. Although, the they have their ways of giving discounted rate of interest quartely. E.g ARM gives the highest quarterly rates, then FBN capital. and initial minimum of 5k only for FBN capital. I do FBN capital's Heritage fund.

I still need anyone's experience of ibtc and arm's MM fund...
IBTC's money market pays about 10% from my calculations.

I removed from there and put into my KGIF smiley which I believe pays better.

You might scan back 10 pages, and find that pretty much all the questions been asked have been answered before.

There is rarely is a new issue or discovery on this thread. There are 500+ pages of it. Many recycled questions.

We might close the thread thus or,

We might get back to talking FTA.

I haven't the time to be squabbling with John Does on the internet.

I don't know you, you don't know me. Save your commentary.

If you don't want to help, be quiet and let those who want to do so.

Let's talk FTA.

Yonderguy: Did you read the RULES of this forum at all? Even if you claim you did, still I'm not convinced. The RULE was very clear on the issue that no one should spam the thread. Here you are spamming and encouraging others to do likewise claiming that Nairaland is a public forum. That's why we can't have a better life in Africa. If you are in government, I believe you will squander public resources hence it is not an individual's. According to you government fund should be used anyhow because it is public fund and nobody should worry about it. Can you even hear yourself? You sound very UNETHICAL, I repeat UNETHICAL. Please go and grow a brain and stop behaving like a celebrated retard ---- my candid advise!
Heh! Someone can speak English a bit. You might slice my head and yours to see who has a larger brain...dunce.
I am not the person who is been questioned about spamming. I am speaking for those who have questions and want them answered.
You might tend to your own matters.

Who died and made all you moderators and guardians of NL threads? You have nothing else to do with your time than come on here and know-it-all. Get a life or even try getting a job maybe then you will be too busy to be worrying about non-issues.

Funny thing is the respected people on here have nothing to say but little people like you do...

I can't waste more time responding to meaningless messages so I will stop here.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by coderXO(m): 10:47pm On Aug 26, 2014
Worry about spam in your personal mailbox, don't worry about Nairaland threads being spammed.
This is a public forum, it is not your problem.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by coderXO(m): 7:45pm On Aug 26, 2014
Yonderguy: You want him to keep quiet when they are spamming this thread with silly questions? God forbids that I will be at home as an elder in the house and our goat will pass through labour pangs on tatters. Let's call a spade a spade and not a garden tools. How will somebody ask a question that has already been answered about 6hours before him and you want someone to answer him? Someone may be absent from this forum for 2 weeks and on the day he comes on he start asking about Irib that has been treated for the past two weeks that he is absent and you want us to answer him? No it doesn't work that way. Try and read past pages if you're absent. And as newbies, be patient and read. For all the information you need as newbies has already been discussed. Question that need answers are new developments, observations and contributions that will broadens our knowledge. Not questions that makes us look as if we are running around in circles. No offence please!
Listen, pretty much all the solutions to all questions been asked on this forum can be found somewhere on the internet.

So let's shut it down shall we, everything been read here is a repeat. Thus it all is "spam"

Whoever has a question and asks the question has probably googled and searched before they do, and there's hundreds of pages on here to scan through.

Please leave them be and tend to your own matters.
