Hey guys (and the odd gal)

I was trying to align a dstv dish/decoder over the weekend.

I took my 4922 to track the signal and got 80+% on 11747H, 11900H and 12245H.

Removed my 4922 and hooked up their dsd1131. I spent no less than 7hours trying to figure out why the hell the darn decoder refused absolutely to show any signal or quality.

Initially, the decoder could not find any signal at all because by default it searched 12245H for its bouquets.
Took me 2 hours to eventually figure out to add a different tp.

So I did, 12208H gave signal 78/80% so progress.


Then I added manually changed the tps to 11747H, 11900H and 12245H as the Home network, network 2 and network 3 respectively.

Only 11747H showed signal, the other 2 where 0% signal, 0% quality.


The decoder found the channels but now some would not show..due to those problem tps.

After about 3 hours and some more dish alignment wuru wuru, I caught luck. 11900H now showed 78% signal.


But for the life of me, 12245H just would not catch a signal...thus some range of channels would not show and some others were quite erratic, showing for a second then display "Connection to the signal was lost. Do not turn off your decoder. We will try to reconnect...."


Again, on my 4922 all three frequencies do 80% green at least and I can blind search and pick the channels up.


Any ideas, pointers, hints as to what the problem might be.

ernie4life: what do u mean by managing your investment your self? Are u trying to say on can manage his/her tbills personaly. Pls clearify me

You can buy TBills by yourself via most banks.

Back to the matter.

KGIF came up before ernie4life entered the thread...we started discussing money market funds that invested highly in TBills.

This is my round about way of investing in TBills and is more convenient for me. I don't need to worry about bid dates, or if my bid will be accepted.
Also if I need emergency cash, for the most part, I can withdraw without penalty- as opposed to having to wait the full term of a directly purchased bill. So going the fund route has its merits.


On the other hand, if you have good experience with bidding and financial matters, it is also good to manage your investments by yourself. You can't "mismanage" your own money and so long as its a bill or bond, pretty much whatever return rate you got is guaranteed back ( granted the entity doesn't belly up).

Yonderguy: I thought as much hence the signal quality is higher the the signal level. It is about 90° and 78 respectively. But I can't explain it. Someone should try using Qsat because that's what I used.

Yonderguy, your dish size and location that you used to get the MBC..

alright...my celebration was a bit premature. irib3 aint popping up but I can get aljazeera at 74% on 4056Hv247999.

those of you guys that have irib3 what is your skew while standing in front of the dish?


i am using a 6-petal 1.35 dish on a 4922 decoder.

when i am on 3.964v30000, i can sometimes see it go green momentarily but it only stays for a second and goes back red

any tips you can give me...

I got it!!!

Nothing feels quite as sweet as tracking a bird for the first time....for a newbie like myself.

This is my first stab at a C-Band signal. Altogether took me about 30mins to get it...

....quite thrilling when you see that signal go GREEN!

Now the guy who says he's from Investment One offering you interest rates; you better get your facts clear before you
make any investment.

Some of you thinking that you will put N1 million in an investment at 10% for 30 days and expect that your money will be N1.1m after that 30 day period are getting it wrong.

Meaning that you can actually make N1.2+m in a year from this your original N1m, if you continue rolling it monthly?

I think you might clarify that your interest rate is quoted as an annual percent yield.

You are not going to pay 6.5% after 30 days

life707: My candid advice is dat u rearrange the 6panels that make up the dish and use the same lnbf that was use at 1st. Our dishes get blown away in d north by windy rain,we dont go buying new lnbf or new dishes

...was very very very hard to track to begin with. I still need a better lnbf

I have that same 1.35 (X-Strong) collapsible and can no longer get MBC. Only Aljerie

Actually only had MBC like 3 days a few months ago, then my dish fell.

Never been able to get it again.

Maybe if I use this lnb...what do you think?

hello fta announcement thread, abeg make una help me with this BISS thing.

I have a 4922. I have upgraded to the June 2014 software.

My own problem is that my tv3 on joy shows "cas:unknown"

When I do 8282 and get to the screen to input the key, I don't see any BISS entry. Only IRDETO, SECA, CONAX etc. No BISS.


What to do? Desperate to get this working.

Gurus on the board please can you help me out here. I've patched my 4922 to June 2014 version. There is no biss encryption type when i get to the screen, and i also notice my tv3 has a cas: unknown. what to do?
