Politics › Re: Delta Is Rich. Why Are Our People Still Struggling? by CodeTemplar: 9:24am On Aug 28
Bad character kills industries. If an industry try to come into that Delta today, what will be the reaction of the youths? They will ask for stomach infrastructure and likely frustrate that group out with extortion.

Were there no industries in Delta before? How did they all dissappear?

Everybody now doing proovision store, keke, PoS, civil servant and racket.

Why modernize one part of the equation? Do poultry owners wait for govt intervention?

I do not see that as a problem. The population of Nigeria did not overtake 200m in ten or twenty years. At independence, the Nigerian population was at approximately 44 million.

The country systematically destroyed by all those in power and there’s one singular word that afflicts the nation and its people. That word is corruption.

The Americans with a population of over 400m also have subsidy in the energy sector. They support the production side of petroleum through tax codes and federal land policies, making it easier for operators and citizens.
Thank you. America subsidizes energy and farmers like mad. Even automakers.

China at 1.4 billion humans has close to a dozen proven subsidies, energy inclusive.

Mynd44:
The first flaw in your argument is thinking Nigeria owns the oil it drills.

The crude oil are joint venture businesses with oil companies and they will not be interested in giving their own when they can sell at international price
These are the supporters of the rulers of darkness.
How were they able to give dangote in exchange for Naira then?

As long as the FG has stake in the JV then its share can be given as crude to Dangote or other local refiners.
Politics › Re: The Primary Six Pupil's Guide To Fuel Subsidy. by CodeTemplar: 11:53am On Aug 26
chicfarmer:
I fully support a return of fuel subsidy to Nigeria. Here is how I'll explain it to a primary six pupil. If you don't understand this, then our politicians will just keep sharing our wealth amongst themselves while we wallow in poverty.

Imagine that you had a big Mango tree in your compound and that tree produced much mangoes. You decide to pluck and sell the mangoes but you have kids and family members living with you, you'll definitely put some aside for your household consumption and then take the rest to the market for sale.

In the same way, Nigeria produces about 2m barrels per day of crude. Government should remove say 500,000 barrels for local refining and consumption and sell that to dangote at 50% while they export the remaining 1.5m barrels at international prices for foreign exchange.

Dangote then refines the 500,000 barrels set aside for local consumption and then sells/distributes it locally at 50% of the current prices of petrol and other products derived therefrom. Simple.

Anybody telling you that this model is not possible is simply trying to deceive you so that they can continue sharing and chopping our money.

The only thing the common man benefits from Nigerian government is subsidy. A mother that harvests her mangoes and takes everything to the market without setting some aside for her children is a bad mother. As oil producers, we must derive direct benefits from our resources. Anything Short of this is corruption and grand deception.
You tried. Even if they cannot subsidize petrol. Power is there. It can be subsidized within Industrial estates alone to ensure cheap power is used for production.

In a country where religious subsidy i alive, i support petrol subsidy. If you cant give petrol subsidy, at least copy a little bit of the chinese and USA models thats working. Subsidize industrial/manufacuring inputs.

What argument?

Was there a time when the administration of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) denied passing cost to consumers ?

What is there to argue about?

Any enlightened person knows subsidy removal passed all cost to consumers. So what argument are we starting here?
He said subsidy is gone for good but maintained it for cronies. Yes or No?

Politics › Re: Tinubu Didn’t End Subsidy, He Shifted The Burden To Nigerians – Atiku by CodeTemplar: 7:41am On Aug 25
America subsidies their cotton farmer heavily to keep them afloat.

China has close a dozen subsidies aimed at bringing down cost of production for industries.

In Nigeria, the elites will corrupt subsidies and in reaction, their partners in govt will remove that subsidy for the lowly but maintain it for themselves. Good example is the petrol subsidy and religious subsidy.

Idiotic nation. Edo is a strategic cement producing state yet lack concrete road segmebt to banish such recurring road headaches.

They are going from Lagos to Calabar just to replicate the Lekki Lagos model of institutionalized looting.
