Cunt_Destroyer: I appreciate your argument and I have also used same argument in response to a particular post here on this thread but I meant to reply in the context of effectiveness and combat strategy when in Mali. If they can't win at home, how are they going to succeed on the international stage were the ROE (Rules Of Engagement) will be strictly enforced and defined by the UN and EU allied forces? And what makes you think 'they are not winning at home'?Compare the activities of the insurgents now to say a year ago.Boko haram are being strangled to death, make no mistake about that.Yes there will always be one or two successful incidents, that does not take away from the fact that their strength has been dissipated. |
Cunt_Destroyer: ^^^You are yet to uproot your own insurgencyNigerian Army going to Mali is appropriately called 'nipping it in the bud'.We need to tackle the root of the problem before it becomes pandemic.Intel gathered from different sources have shown beyond reasonable doubt that the Boko Haram insurgency threatening Nigeria is not an isolated problem. It has links with other fringe groups spread across Africa and beyond. |

victorD3: Well I still feel we have outgrown such toy looking AK 47 rifles. The smartest part of waging war…particularly in the fluid and undefined frontlines of guerrilla warfare has to be the ability to get by…even thrive on the adversary’s supplies. Call it consummate predatory instincts. The most widely used rifle in the world – whether by soldiers, guerrillas or terrorists – is the AK47. It is perfectly in order to go into Mali with the AK47. For every terrorist that you knock out, you can use his banana clip. That is the reason why most Special Operations units still train with the AK47 at some point because it is a rifle which you shall encounter everywhere regardless and one on which your very life could depend at some point while fighting against guerrillas. Add folding stock, add a foregrip, add a telescopic sight but TAKE the AK47 along. You can make that the standard issue rifle. I do not mind leaving the FN-FAL behind in Nigeria. For CQB and FIBUA, give the SpecOps guys their F2000 and TAR 21 while still taking along crates of modified variants of the best rifle ever made – the inimitable and durable Kalashnikov. The AK47 belongs to a generation of globally acclaimed weapons which are TIMELESS and durable beyond words – DShK 12.7mm HMG, ZPU 14.5mm AAMG, the ZU 23mm AA cannon, the D30 122mm field artillery & the M46 130mm long range artillery. About the inscriptions on the gun.Someone has already clarified that.It is to indicate they belong to the Nigerian contingent..hence the 'NIgCon' insignia |
“NIGERIA INTERESTED IN MALI’S STABILITY BECAUSE NIGERIAN TERRORISTS TRAIN THERE” ; NIGERIAN AIR FORCE WILL DEPLOY FIGHTER AIRCRAFT – CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday ordered the deployment of a Battalion of Nigerian soldiers to Mali as part of the country’s contribution to the ECOWAS security force to reclaim the country from Islamist terrorists. Briefing the Defence Correspondents at the Defence Headquarters, the Director of Defence Information, Col. Mohammed M. Yerima, said a company made of 190 troops would depart for Mali within the next 24 hours while the rest would follow. Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Azubike Ihejirika, disclosed that Nigeria was interested in Mali because the country was a training ground for terrorists. “The degenerating crisis in the Republic of Mali compelled the decision of ECOWAS Heads of Government to intervene with a deployment of their military forces. Following this decision and in line with Nigeria’s acclaimed peacekeeping roles, and in spirit of African brotherhood, President Goodluck Jonathan approved the deployment of a battalion and in the next 24 hours, company of the battalion [190] will be deployed. The remainder would be deployed later. “Already, the Force Commander, Major General S U Abdulkadir, is on ground in Mali. Also, technical team of the Nigerian Army and Air Force are already in Mali to facilitate the eventual full deployment of Fighter Aircraft and support element,’’ Yerima stated. At the instance of Malian government, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2085 of December 2012 approved the deployment of ECOWAS Security Force to assist Mali in reclaiming its north from the Islamic militants. Speaking with newsmen at the wreath laying ceremony of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, Lt Gen. Ihejirika said the insecurity in Mali was a threat to Nigeria since the country was notorious for being a training ground for the terrorists wreaking havoc in some states of the federation. According to him, the military is ready to carry out the order of President Jonathan to ensure peace and stability is restored. “The security of Mali affects security of Nigeria because of the proximity of Mali to Nigeria. It is an operation that is very dear to Nigeria. Furthermore, as you are aware, Mali has been one of the training bases where the terrorists operating in Nigeria have been trained, so it is important that Mali is kept safe, including Niger which is the immediate neighbor,” he noted. The French troops all night bombed the terrorists’ enclave at Diabaly while the French authorities are seeking the help of Mali’s Arab neighbours in resolving the matter which has the backing of the United Nations Security Council. http://leadership.ng/nga/articles/45168/2013/01/16/mali_jonathan_orders_deployment_battalion.html |

NIGERIAN ARMY DEPLOY FIRST-EVER WHOLLY SPECIAL FORCES BATTALION The Nigerian Army have deployed their first-ever battalion to be wholly manned by Special Forces troops. This came to light after video clips of a range classification exercise which took place recently at the shooting range of the 72 Paratroop Battalion, Makurdi were shown exclusively on Nigerian Television Authority’s network news. Designated as the “Special Forces Battalion” and stationed at Makurdi, the fact that it has no numeric prefix attached to its name indicates that it is currently the only one of its kind in the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army have since 2000 trained several battalion-sized contingents of Special Forces. The batch of 4,000 troops batched into five battalions where trained in-country by a 225-man contingent drawn from the 3rd Special Forces Group , Fort Bragg, North Carolina, United States of America. The Nigerian Army commenced military training cooperation with the US Special Forces nearly a quarter of a century ago. Between 8 May 1986 and 23 December 1986, C Company , 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group trained the core of the Nigerian Army’s Airborne forces. They also trained amphibious forces in in riverine operations, tactics, maintenance and patrols.

Dayum! This is funny in a serious way.It is these kind of political appointments that has made it difficult to deal with the insurgency in the country |
Just a photo of Yvonne Nelson & her mom has a record 11 hidden posts on the first page alone. More than all the hidden posts you can find on some heated tribal topics. Na wa o! People really need to lighten up |
^^ You only stated half the story. Nigeria through ECOWAS was pushing for an earlier intervention a little over 3 months ago but this was vehemently rejected by the government in Bamako. Stressing the Malian army could deal with the insurgency. Not until last week when the rebels linked to AQIM overran several territories & almost took over a vital airstrip that would have made it difficult to get foriegn help in that the acting president now requested for help from their former colonial masters |

They live in a constant state of denial. Coming up with some of the most unintelligble arguments i have read in a long while to refute what is explicitly stated in the Bible. In any event, why would God regulate slavery that is clearly evil rather than condemning it outright? Or didn't Moses kill an Egyptian for maltreating an Israelite? Is that not the same reason he (God) promised Moses to deliver the Israelites from Egypt. If it wasn't good for the Israelites why should it be good for anyone else for that matter? Bottomline, the Bible was not written by God-God is clearly a man's creation & not the other way round. Slave-loving men did. |

Q. What is the difference between these pentecostals who shake their heads and bodies vigorously whilst they move their mouths incoherently and the native doctor in my village who does exactly the same thing while saying his incantations and invoking the spirits? A.Nothing! That style of prayer is just another version of paganism amongst the many pagan stuff disingenuously introduced into Christianity |
musKeeto: The atheist's weakness when arguing with most theists on NL is quite evident on this thread.Fact! |
Many theists will argue that God had to talk this way (slavery) in the Old Testament in order to "fit in" with the dominant culture. This, of course, is silly. In Christian mythology, God is the one who created humans and human culture. In addition, a God that condones the beating of slaves and the enslavement of children at any time is an abomination. A believer might say, "Well, all of those verses are from the Old Testament and no longer apply because of Jesus." This line of rationalization prompts several obvious questions. Why would the Old Testament still be printed in the Bible if Jesus overturned it? Why would God EVER tell us to beat slaves? The most important thing that this line of rationalization misses is that Jesus specifically states that the laws of the Old Testament still stand. In Matthew 5:18 Jesus says: For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Then he goes on to say: Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. According to Jesus, the Old Testament is alive and well. According to Isaiah 40:8, "the word of our God stands forever." The notion that these old testament verses no longer apply is completely untrue according to the Bible. Christians imagine that they "no longer apply" as a way of rationalizing their religion. Other believers rationalize that God did not write these slavery passages in the Bible. The Bible was somehow corrupted by slave-loving men. In that case, the obvious question to ask yourself is this: If the Bible has been corrupted, how can we possibly know which parts of the Bible came from God and which parts were inserted by primitive men? You have absolutely no way to know. It is when you start thinking about the Bible in this way that you understand something very important about the Bible. Either the entire Bible really is God's Word, or the entire Bible was written by primitive men with absolutely no input from God. Here is the reason for this very strong dividing line: If part of the Bible came from God and part came from primitive men, you do not know which is which. You do not know if Jesus really is resurrected, or if that's just a make-believe story inserted by primitive men. How do you know if God wrote the Ten Commandments or not? If any part of the Bible has been polluted by primitive men, you have to reject the whole thing. There is no way to know who wrote what, so the entire book is invalid. |
After settling the matter with Jesus Christ Goodness gracious! Wetin we no go hear?Christians,Christians,Christians how any times i call una? Issok |
Is that not the whole concept of speaking in tongues? They claim they're not in control of themselves at the time but the Holy Spirit is. I wonder why any Holy Spirit will make a person convulse uncontrollably all in the name of prayers. But hey what do i know. Matters of the spirit i guess...hmmm |
