Nairaland GeneralRe: Facebook Or Fakebook? by cold(m): 3:24pm On Oct 12, 2010
What is the problem here? It's all a matter of choice,i never heard of anybody being dragged to join FB against his/her will. Why is the op splitting hairs over nothing.People have found long lost friends, made biz connections & have gotten jobs thru FB.
If peeps decide to flaunt their looks, cars, houses etc on the site it's their funeral & not yours so why get your underwear in a knot  huh
Furthermore like someone posited, why not practice what you preach (@op).You put up a model's pix to bolster your low self esteem which must have resulted from your ugly looks. It's nobody's fault you turned out the way you did just take it in your stride.

PoliticsRe: 20 Most Influential Nigerians--vanguard by cold(m): 9:01pm On Oct 11, 2010
Being influential does not necessarily have to be in a positive light as it is being touted around here.Osama Bin Laden was one time listed amongst the 100 most influential people on earth.

BusinessRe: Former MD Of Oceanic Bank, Cecilia Ibru, Convicted Of Bank Fraud by cold(m): 12:40pm On Oct 09, 2010
At the resumption of hearing yesterday, counsel to the EFCC, Kola Awodein (SAN) told the court that there was an agreement between the prosecution and the accused person’s lawyer which has been put in a written form and which has been filed before the court.
He said, “We will be inviting the court under section 17 of the Federal High Court Act, which enjoins this court to promote reconciliation among parties and facilitate an amicable settlement with them under the inherent jurisdiction of the court under section 6(6) of the 1999 constitution.
“We will therefore be seeking the court to exercise these powers in this matter with regard to the agreement that has been reached. It is the desire of the prosecution to amend the charge that has been filed in this matter by applying to withdraw a number of counts; all of the counts except counts 14, 17 and 23, which would be left for her to take her plea.”
He further said that with regards to the fact relating to count 14, the accused person approved the grant of credit facility while she served as the MD/CEO of the bank. Counsel to the sacked bank chief, Professor Taiwo Osipitan (SAN), prayed the court to order that the sentence should run concurrently. According to him, the accused grew the bank from nothing to something and that she wished the bank should continue to grow and that is why she is letting go.
The professor added further that, “It is to the knowledge of all concerned that the accused has been in the hospital and she has been diagnosed by the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) that she has Acute Cardiac problem and Sinuses. “I urge court to allow her go back to the hospital from the court, and allow her sentence to start running.”
EFCC had earlier arraigned Ibru on a 25-count charge in August 31, 2009 which she pleaded not guilty. However the EFCC yesterday decided to reduce it to 3 counts which bordered on approving the grant of a credit facility in the sum of $20m by the bank to Waves Project in the country.

shame on niger deltans for whathuhhuh??

SHAME ON NIGERIANS!! SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOUR NIGERIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHAME ON YOU nigerians for being silly

right now I dont have any problem with our leaders, my problems is with nigerians, why are you people so dumb and sillyhuh? you people should answer that questions before you condemn our leaders. How can over 140 million be so dumb and cant even think right, yet we condemn the leaders for not doing things right. The poster should focus on nigerians and not just the niger deltans. The most annoying part of it is that we dont even know what we want, yet they will come here on NL and start speaking big grammar, mana will not fall from heaven this time, wake up all ye lazy nigerians wake up!!!
And your point is _ _ _

I still believe that Goodluck will still win the election, not be cause he is a good candidate but because he has poor opposition.
My thoughts exactly.More lyk a beauty pageant, whomever wins is not necessarily the most beautiful in Nigeria but the most beautiful in the contest.

TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Now Second Largest Movie Industry In The World by cold(m): 3:16pm On Oct 06, 2010
samoks:
A prophet has no honor in his land,  The outside world has seen and ranked us high, but we are here destroying ourselves,  How did Japan started, how did china started? how about Taiwanhuh?   They were all producing SUBSTANDARD products, but their people and government gave them all the support they needed, and today, almost all (if not all) electronics and gadgets in NIGERIA is imported from these three countries.

Nigerians, please learn to appreciate what you have,  When the outside world label us with -ve pictures, we cry foul, now they are praising us, and we are asking them to stop

Na  waoooooo
There's nothin in the script that insists we must celebrate/appreciate mediocrity.Whilst not writing them off in totality i daresay the largest room in the world is the room for improvement.

Nollywood makes about 2,400 films per year, putting it ahead of the US, but behind India, according to a Unesco report last year. Nigerian film-makers tend to operate in a fast and furious manner; shoots rarely last longer than two weeks, cheap digital equipment is almost always used and the average budget is about $15,000 (£9,664). The finished products often bypass cinemas altogether and are instead sold directly to the “man on the street” for about $1.50 (£1). Most films shift between 25,000 and 50,000 copies globally – although a blockbuster can easily sell up to 200,000.

Aw c'mon are you sayin we can't do better?
