Okija_juju:
What shall it profit a government to buy made in Nigeria goods with multi-billion Naira of Tax payers money that would not last a year??

We should have grown beyond patroninzing home made to gettin good long lasting stuff.
And your point is-'buy foriegn products'.Does that sound like progress to you? When the indians started manufacturing automobiles, some of the cars were literally pushed by hand off the manufacturing lines.By the same token, they still stick to their farshi pajamas any where in the world. Are u so confused blinded that you can't see the wood for the trees?
We all keep crying for change, change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.We are the ones we've been waiting for,we are the change that we seek

PoliticsRe: Would Sim Registration Eliminate Kidnapping In Nigeria? by cold(m): 12:31pm On Aug 03, 2010
ePAYSYSTEM:
The idea of SIM registration is never strange. It took me 2 weeks in the UK
to obtain a telephone line as a visitor because a registration had to tally with my VISA
Certificate and International Passport No. In organized societies, the government can use this
to protect the citizenry. Same is possible in Nigeria.

But I have a big question to How is Nigerian Government going to use this as a strategy to fix
kidnapping. Look at this:

My Friend was kidnapped 2 times by different groups. At each of this times, he was never contacted before the attack. From the time they picked him till the time he was released on ransom, the only means of communication was his own phone. There was no identification of any phone line belonging to the NAPAS. If his lines were registered, how would this aid his release and of cause a protection for his family.

Do you think kidnapping can be checked with just this exercise of SIm registration given that other security measures are hitting the rocks? Or would you make other suggestions that the government and the people would try?
I really don't understand when you say it took you 2 weeks to get a telephone line. What kind of telelphone line is that?Cuz i can get as many as 10 sim cards today if i so wish.I don't know what channels you used in your request cuz this is so hard to bliv.
As per the topic,i don't think sim registration will be very effective, rather i'd recommend tracking of calls, that seems to me a more efficient & effective method

NEW YORK - Wearing saggy pants is not a crime, just foolish.

That's how a New York City judge ruled in throwing out a summons issued to a man wearing low-slung pants that exposed his underwear.

Judge Ruben Franco said that the summons appeared to be an attempt by one police officer to show his displeasure with the style.

The Bronx man, Julio Martinez, was issued the ticket on April 20.

The judge writes that many may find the low-slung trouser trend distasteful and foolish. But he says people can dress how they want as long as they do not offend public order and decency.

Franco's decision was issued last month. Martinez and his Legal Aid attorney could not be reached for comment.

CrimeRe: Policeman Kills Bus Driver Over N50 by cold(m): 6:24pm On Jul 28, 2010
As much as this story is tragic & appalling,i don't see this social cataclsym going away anytime soon.Families send their bright kids to study engineering, law etc and send the never do wells to be conscripted in the police. What do you expect to get.If your son/daughter tells you his/her aspiration is to join the Nigerian police Force i can guess what your reaction will be,it may even lead to disowning the child.
Another scenario is 99% of members of the NPF joined the force as a last resort, after all else has failed.Unlike what obtains in developed climes where the police force is ranked amongst the 1st rate jobs.

The NPF needs a complete overhaul,it should require the same qualification necessary to get any top job in 9ja.there should be better incentives,so on & so forth.Otherwise, like i saidwe're stuck with this pathetic organisation called the police force.

^^ actually many countries do that, they limit the amount of play foreign music gets to allow local music to thrive, they have been asking for the same to be done in London. Harsh moves always has to be made to protect the economy of YOUR OWN country. If nigeria doesnt get that then its nobody elses fault!
You just shot yourself in the foot.Vigorously justifying protectionism on Ghana's part but insisting Nigeria remains an open market for all d*ck,tom and ghanaians.See why it would have been safer for you to remain silent & thought a fool, than speak out and remove all doubt.

Serious! Its a very low move that belittles Africa's biggest Movie movement. How can we be wrestling with an organisation that's picking after us. Think if we impsed a levy on say american actors in Naija, think Hollywood will respond in kind? I mean, no diplomacy, no thought, they just sharp sharp "do me i do you."

Na small boy dey worry dem.
You see why i say some of you folks just reach unintelligent conclusions. You type, then think later.
Firstly, Nigeria would not even do that.We know better than to pull a stunt like that.
Secondly, even if we attempted it,the US wld waste no time to put us in our place. The US is a major protagonist on the application of the principle of reciprocity.
Please do your research, ignorance is not bliss.
