To all those saying na demonic force, u need to read ur bible wella. No be demons! Na ur body dey mislead itself. Why do people always think something extra ordinary be demonic? Haba! Well it started happening to me since I was like 16. I would be watching TV with the rest of the family and feeling sleepy, then snap! It would happen. My eyes would clearly see the tv screen (though blurry) and I would hear faint voices but I would be unable to move my hands legs eyelids or lips. However, my mind would be very ACTIVE. I got scared and I thought this was one of the signs of death. I told our landlady (who happens to be a Cele goer) and she told me to go for an exorcism. She said demons wanted to deal with me and I should ask for forgiveness of my sins. Omo con see confessions. Well, it kept happening after the exorcism, again and again. And I was so stressed and afraid. And I kept praying. Dudes, you don't know how it feels until you experience this. I consulted a lot of pple and each and every one of them said it was demonic. Then I went online. I've never really believed I had issues with demons. And I read about d shitt on wikipedia - search sleep paralysis. And I got the answers I wanted. No be only illetracy be disease, ignorance too, is. Well I still experience these once or twice per week and it happens most times when I sleep alone and when I am really lazy and I find it hard to get out of bed. Sometimes it happens 5 times at once! But I have understood it and I don't get scared anymore. Its just one of the miseries of life. |

The Wisdom of the Desert by Thomas Merton - 1960 In the fourth century, the wildernesses of Egypt and Palestine were inhabited by a strange breed of spiritual nonconformists: the first Christian hermits. Thomas Merton's affection for these "Desert Fathers" shines in this much-loved treasury of their acts and words of wisdom. His free translation from the Latin source Verba Senorium illuminates their radical lives with insight and humor and sets them in close relation to Zen recluses, Hindu renunciants, and all those who have ever fled conventional life in search of higher wisdom. The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin - 1859 In The Origin of Species, Darwin challenged many of the most deeply-held beliefs of the Western world. Arguing for a material, not divine, origin of species, he showed that new species are achieved by "natural selection." The Origin communicates the enthusiasm of original thinking in an open, descriptive style, and Darwin's emphasis on the value of diversity speaks more strongly now than ever. As well as a stimulating introduction and detailed notes, this edition offers a register of the many writers referred to by Darwin in the text. https://photo.goodreads.com/books/1298417570l/22463.jpg DOWNLOAD - http:///iJGR or http:///iJGS |
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez - 1967 One of the 20th century's enduring works, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a widely beloved and acclaimed novel known throughout the world, and the ultimate achievement of a Nobel Prize winning career. The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the family. It is a rich and brilliant chronicle of life and death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the noble, ridiculous, beautiful, and tawdry story of the family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America. https://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327881361l/320.jpg DOWNLOAD - http:///iJGO |
The Social Contract by Jean-Jacques Rousseau - 1762 PUBLISHED in 1726 at Amsterdam to escape French censorship, Rousseau's Social Contract is one of the most influential treatises on politics ever written. It is an endeavour to place all government on the consent, direct or implied, of the governed. Rousseau's ideal state is founded on man's universal desire for freedom, which can only be secured by a contract which each makes with all, and in which each surrenders his will to receive it back again as part of the whole. Logically, the Social Contract is full of gaping flaws, and as a political essay it is a tissue of fantastic arguments, based on unreal hypotheses, but it set men's made on fire, and was the literary inspiration of one of the most tremendous events in history--the French Revolution. https://bookcoverarchive.com/images/books/social_contract.large.jpg DOWNLOAD - http:///iJGN |
The Rights of Man by Tom Paine - First published 1791 One of Paine's greatest and most widely read works, considered a classic statement of faith in democracy and egalitarianism, defends the early events of the French Revolution, supports social security for workers, public employment for those in need of work, abolition of laws limiting wages, and other social reforms. In England The Rights of Man encountered a response like no other in English publishing history. The poor pooled their pennies, supplementing it with meager savings to buy the book. The Rights of Man became an underground manifesto, passed from hand to hand, even when it became a crime to be found with it in one's possession. Outlawed for treason, Paine fled to France in 1792, never to return to England again. https://photo.goodreads.com/books/1328865817l/670020.jpg DOWNLOAD - http:///iJGM |
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy - first published in 1869 From the award-winning translators of Anna Karenina and The Brothers Karamazov comes this magnificent new translation of Tolstoy's masterwork. War and Peace broadly focuses on Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in 1812 and follows three of the most well-known characters in literature: Pierre Bezukhov, the illegitimate son of a count who is fighting for his inheritance and yearning for spiritual fulfillment; Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, who leaves his family behind to fight in the war against Napoleon; and Natasha Rostov, the beautiful young daughter of a nobleman who intrigues both men. As Napoleon’s army invades, Tolstoy brilliantly follows characters from diverse backgrounds—peasants and nobility, civilians and soldiers—as they struggle with the problems unique to their era, their history, and their culture. And as the novel progresses, these characters transcend their specificity, becoming some of the most moving—and human—figures in world literature. https://www.epubbooks.com/assets/bookcovers/tolstoy-war-and-peace-bookcover.jpg DOWNLOAD - http:///iJGJ |

I honestely think we are missing a crutial step, or something. I don't know. This club amassed a considerabe amount of members and a lot of us are tired with the idea already. I am not. I am just hoping this is not a case of misplaced priorities. Please we need to start writing at least, for a start. Let's have a cheaper, #just saying# website where everybody can collaborate and talk about our work. Let's appreciate each other before we think of the outside world appreciating us. We shoud start somethihng and not just voting. This is supposed to be fun but I aint seing the fun there. A lot of us are stressed trying to make this work. Which is more hindered by the fact that we are not from the same geological zones. I expect a get together celebration by december#at least# but with the slowness of things, I just don't see that happening. Where is the passion? VOTING? RAISING MONEY, 40+ y/o writers? We never even write one single story and yet una don dey fight for mature writers! I understand the need for the legal leggings. But seriously, do we have the time? Were freelancers and not official. If someone wants to help us with the legal things then its up to you (as a writer to choose if you want your writings to be copyrighted or not) at least for a start. Then when things get really steamy, and u ask for contributions, hell well work it out. But now, I just haven't seen the zeal for me to dish out cash or kind for a group that hasent given me anything. If I was a -say- a prospective investor and I started reading this thread from scratch first time. I would really trip. But after 30 something pages, its something else cause we blatantly forgot our passion and we became politicians, juries and jurors, INEC Officials and Stock brokers. No Pun intended! #just saying# YAN ROCKS -sorry for typos. Wrote this on phone. |
