Cassidy Goodson, 14-Year-Old, Murders Her Newborn Baby: Cops A 14-year-old is accused of choking her newborn to death while the baby was still attached to her by the umbilical cord. https://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_content_width/hash/36/d5/36d56287f91dccfe7f9ce4da1cf49871.jpg Cassidy Goodson of Lakeland, Fla., is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse, according to the Ledger. Goodson gave birth to a boy in the bathroom of her home on Sept. 19, ABC News reports. Police say the high school freshman ultimately used scissors to pry the baby out of her body and into the toilet. Lifting the baby out of the toilet, Goodson "placed her hands on the infant's neck and squeezed until he wasn't moving or breathing any longer," according to a statement released by Polk County Sheriff's Office on Friday. Goodson allegedly killed the child because she "didn't know what to do with it," officials told WTSP. Goodson had reportedly been wearing baggy clothes to hide from her family that she was pregnant. Two aunts suspected the teen was pregnant, but the girl's mother, Teresa Goodson, "was in complete denial," Sheriff Grady Judd told the Ledger. As evidence that she wasn't pregnant, Cassidy Goodson had shown her mother two home pregnancy tests that turned up negative. However, the teen had conducted the tests completely alone. Three days after the birth, the Sheriff's Office received a call reporting that Teresa Goodson, Cassidy Goodson's mother, had found a dead baby inside a shoe box in her home. Teresa Goodson said she found the body when she noticed an odor coming from her daughter's bedroom. Judd believes that Cassidy Goodson's young age should be taken into account. "Let's remember she is a child," he said. "Where was her support system?" Officials are considering charging adults who may have known about the pregnancy and kept it a secret. Prosecutors are have not yet decided whether to charge Cassidy Goodson as an adult. Investigators are currently trying to determine the baby's father. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/01/cassidy-goodson-kills-murders-chokes-newborn-baby_n_1928754.html?utm_hp_ref=crime&icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-nb%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D213737 |

It’s the ‘Chop your dreads off’ season in the Nigerian entertainment industry and a few of our beloved entertainers are keeping with the trend. Pop singers Terry G and Waconzy recently shared new photos of themselves spotting a new look – they’ve both shaved their locks off! Waconzy calls his new look ‘Waconzy 2.0‘; he went an extra mile by adding a blonde tinge to his hair. Mr Ginjah on the other opted for a very low Mo’Hawk look. It started with Faze last year who went for a more ‘serene’ look. He was followed by Timaya. The most recent to follow the trend is comedian Basketmouth although he didn’t go for a complete shave-off. So why are our dreaded stars chopping their locks off? Some would point out that it might have to do with the artiste’s way of re-branding. ‘New album on the way means – new image, new look, something to talk about’, a publicist tells us. http://thenetng.com/news/terry-g-and-waconzy-chop-off-their-dreads/ So what do you think about their new look?

A thriller is a genre in visual media and literature which focuses on action, fast pacing, tension, and suspense. The conflicts are usually between desperate heroes and powerful antagonists who outmatch them by large margin. Frequent location changes, time shortage, and Cliffhangers are extremely common. Thrillers can overlap with almost any other genre. They are more defined by their plot and devices than by their content. They can be identified by the thrills the work gives to the reader or viewer. Thrillers are a serious genre lacking in the Nigerian Movie Scene. All you see is soaps, slapstick comedy, ritual/cult killings, wealth flaunting and very bad written dialogue (if there was ever any)The Nigerian Film Industry – or “Nollywood” -- is the world’s third largest film industry, however many would have difficulty naming a single “Nollywood” film. The reason for this incredible situation is simple; Nollywood films are badly written. Screenwriting is not respected in “Nollywood” – where the films tend to be rushed into production without properly written scripts in place. The writers are not paid well, or properly respected. The result of this neglect is that the films the industry produces are generally of a low quality – and worse often do not make a lot of sense. Much of the reason for this is economic. In Nigeria, screenwriters are paid little or nothing for their work. To a producer, paying a screenwriter is considered an unnecessary luxury. To cut things short, I will be sharing types of thrillers here. You may want to choose which category you fit in Conspiracy thriller: In which the hero/heroine confronts a large, powerful group of enemies whose true extent only s/he recognizes. Disaster thriller: A thriller story about mass peril, where the protagonist's job is to both survive, and to save many other people from a grim fate, often a natural disaster such as a storm or volcanic eruption, but which may also be a terrorist attack or epidemic of some sort. Crime thriller: This particular genre is a hybrid type of both crime films and thrillers that offers a suspenseful account of a successful or failed crime or crimes. These films often focus on the criminal(s) rather than a policeman. Central topics of these films include serial killers/murders, robberies, chases, shootouts, heists and double-crosses. Erotic thriller: A type of thriller that has an emphasis on eroticism and where a sexual relationship plays an important role in the plot. (How creative can you be )Political thriller: In which the hero/heroine must ensure the stability of the government that employs him. Psychological thriller: In which (until the often violent resolution) the conflict between the main characters is mental and emotional, rather than physical. Characters, either by accident or their own curiousness, are dragged into a dangerous conflict or situation that they are not prepared to resolve. Characters are not reliant on physical strength to overcome their brutish enemies, but rather are reliant on their mental resources, whether it be by battling wits with a formidable opponent or by battling for equilibrium in the character's own mind. At times, the characters attempt solving, or are involved in, a mystery. The suspense created by psychological thrillers often comes from two or more characters preying upon one another's minds, either by playing deceptive games with the other or by merely trying to demolish the other's mental state. Spy thriller: In which the protagonist is generally a government agent who must take violent action against agents of a rival government or (in recent years) terrorists. The subgenre usually deals with the subject of fictional espionage in a realistic way. The spy film usually fuses the action and science fiction genres, however, some spy films fall safely in the action genre rather than thriller, especially those having frequent shootouts, car chases and such. Supernatural thriller: In which the film brings in an otherworldly element (such as fantasy and/or the supernatural) mixed with tension, suspense and plot twists. Sometimes the protagonist and/or villain has some psychic ability and superpowers. Techno thriller: A suspense film in which the manipulation of sophisticated technology plays a prominent part. There is a bit of action and science fiction. I believe with the proper mindset, all this sub genres can be fused into the Nigerian TV audience. Its up to us to sit down, think deep and write a BELIEVABLE story! PS - pro·tag·o·nist/prōˈtagənist/ Noun: 1 The leading character or a major character in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. 2 The main figure or one of the most prominent figures in a real situation. Synonyms: hero an·tag·o·nist/anˈtagənist/ Noun: 1 A person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary. 2 A substance that interferes with or inhibits the physiological action of another. Synonyms: opponent - adversary - enemy - rival - foe - competitor |
