Theft mars Nigerian 're-branding'
Thieves stole a mobile phone belonging to a member of a new team campaigning to improve Nigeria's image as a country riddled by crime and chaos.

Isawa Elaigwu told the launch of the "rebrand Nigeria" campaign he noticed the phone was gone minutes before he was due to address the event.

"As I was entering the gates of the conference centre I noticed I had been pick-pocketed," he said.

"This is just the sort of thing we need to fight against".

Nigeria is often seen abroad as a violent and chaotic place, full of people who use e-mail scams to cheat money out of unwitting victims.

'Most dangerous'

Its commercial capital Lagos recently topped a poll of the world's most dangerous places to work.

The Information Ministry hopes to change this bad reputation with a public relations campaign.


On Tuesday the ministry unveiled a new slogan "Nigeria: Good people, great country", and a logo.
Information Minister Dora Akunyili, who made her name as a fierce campaigner against fake drugs, said the country's reputation was unfair.

"We must shed this toga that says we are untrustworthy, unreliable and ungovernable," she said.

She admitted that the country did have real problems with poverty, corruption and infrastructure, but that wouldn't stop them trying.

"Some people say: 'Why rebrand now?' Nigeria cannot wait until its solved all its problems before addressing its image."

Better life

A better image would improve tourism and encourage businesses to invest in Nigeria, she said.

As Nigerian's own perception of themselves improved they would be less inclined to commit crime, she said.

The previous administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo had a similar campaign to improve Nigeria's image called "Heart of Africa".

Local media reported that the government spent $5.6million (£4million) on it in one year.

It was scrapped by Mrs Akunyili last year.

The minister last week promised the National Assembly the "good people great country" campaign will cost a lot less, and spending will be transparent.

Which due process??

Go through th Nigerian constitution and seek out who has jurisdiction over LGs??

Rather than send the police men to battle armed robbers in Oyo state,he's deceiving himself with all these shenanigans??

Its very simple,if you feel the governor has violated any law you get a restraining order from the courts,you can't be taking sides just because you are responsible for appointing the equally inept IG of police.

It may take time ,but the nigerian people will overcome all these none-entities we call leaders !

FIRSTLY:- one of the first sign for a pregnant woman to know that her baby is on the way to the world is the breaking of the water bag,and this water is the baby's ablution water,which shows that the baby is also a Muslim praying the Muslim way while in the womb.

SECONDLY:-on our palms,there are signs there which look like letter V turn downward and the other like l,that is on one palm and on the other palm the letter like l comes before the downward V like. but as a Muslim who is familiar with the Arabic numbers you will know that the downward V like, is figure 8 and the l like is figure 1,which make that 81 and on the other palm you have 1 before 8 which is 18,from the there if you add 81 +8 that will give you the total number of 99 which is the number of ALLAH'S name.so from here we derive that every human testify to 99 names of ALLAH.

THIRDLY:-our mouth,nose and eyes,if we draw this in a paper, then draw the lower and the upper lips separately and make them stand erect that should give you l like,and that l in arabic is alif,so you have two separate alif

NOSE:-if you separate it you will get something like LAM in Arabic.

then the EYES:- if you draw them separately you will get something like ()which is pronounce hau in arabic, so now if you going the first l we derived at from the lip which is ALIF in Arabic and the LAM we derived from dividing the nose and the HAU we derived at from the eyes then joining the ALIF,LAM AND HAU that will give us ALLAH.


and lastly the remaining parts of our body write MUHAMMAD.well is like this:-sitting like you do while praying with your legs fold and your toes facing the back with your hands fold and the arm also fold. the folded hand is like MIM in Arabic, the arm folded trace to the shoulder is like HA in Arabic, the circular form between our hip and the buttock is like another MIM and lastly the already folded toe back to the folded leg is like DAL in Arabic so the first MIM from the folded hand,the Arabic HA formed from the folded arm,the other MIM form between the hip and the thigh and the DAL for from the folded toe and leg,we get MIM,HA,MIM AND DAL give us MUHAMMAD.

No,what Im saying is dat,a lot of the 'commandments' should been taken in their proper context. . . i.e some aspects of Arab culture and tradition.

But the general message of modesty,chasity & purity should be taken wholly and not subdued under these arab traditions.

Yar'Adua is a confused as his health would have him express his confusion. . . . . .

A real pity for a country dat needs strong ,vibrant leadership in this hour of need !!!

saud arabia and most gulf states do not carryout this celebration or give public holiday,but have other forms of similar celebrations like,birth and death of sayidina ali(ra) and that of hassan and hussain,grand children of rasul in iraq but still may allah give us the will to act correctly and also increase us in iman(islamic faith)amin
