nuzo: Power to have a state police? Most definitely they should, those are the changes we need to make to the constitution, a number of aberrations exist: Police Federation account Executive control of INEC etc |

nuzo: Fair enough, though you sound as if kano is now a country of its own like U.A.E, Bahrain and co. I also wouldnt be surprised if those agitating for their own country gets stronger. Not that, true federalism as practised else where gives the state most powers & the Federal govt(exec,Judiciary & Legislature)mainly handles defence, foreign policy etc So i honestly don't have any problems with kano doing their thing, very soon like I said they'll have to change the music sooner than later, now its easy with federal allocation, |

nuzo: How is the anarchy by the Kano government translated to an advantage for kano people cos of healthy mix of Islam? The same state that restricts people's rights, uses the religious police to persecute law abiding citizens and doesnt do anything to prevent religious riot?
What makes you even think that shekarou is not one of the jihadist radicals? Dats the beauty of democracy, once kano's federal allocation dries with true federalism, the kano people will demand more than just koranic verses, they'll want economic development,so things should change by then. Saudi can afford their brand of theocracy, but ask other muslim countries like Dubai,Abu Dhabi,Bahrain & Malaysia, they try their best to be accomodating and still retain their Islamic identity. |

KnowAll: The Nigerian Police force should be disbanded. It is an anomaly in a true federalism and a pit of corrupt practices. Every state should have its own police force and the post of inspector general of police should be disbanded. The last 2 IGP stole more money than the salary of 15 european country prime ministers put together, we cannot continue to allow such anomaly to continue in this day and age. Kano state is only correcting the anomaly a lot of Nigerians cannot see. In America local goverments have their own police force so why not in Nigeria. There is no post like the IGP of America. Very correct. And this will be the beginning of the solution to Nigeria's problems. You can still have a federal police in the mould of an FBI,well trained ,very intelligent & highly motivated officers who will resolve inter-state crime, liaise with interpol and other similar responsibilities. . . . . . . If Kano decides it wants to be like Saudi, dats their problem ,many won't like it,but some will & those dat like will stay. However 'true fedralism' also comes with resource control which MEND has been fighting for all these while. |

Strength10: I have seen this as a trend in Nigeria and it bothers me and others that Nigeria will never grow if this trend continues. I am saying this because i am IGBO and this affects my people more than others. Before Ikonjo-iweala became the finance Minister, it was not the dream job of most aspiring Ministers in Nigeria. It was a position that helped presidents siphon money out of the public. But after Ikonjo-iweala was appointed and she performed great and remarkably, that position suddenly became the most powerful and admirable Ministerial position in Nigeria. Every Aboki and other Nigerian politicians started going for Iwealas Jugular so she could be fired. They succeeded but today, the Finance Ministers power and status is now in Oblivion. Nobody talks about it anymore as the most powerful and important and all the hipe is now down and gone and none of the current appointees have done a quarter of what she did for Nigeria and the popularity of that position is now as good as others. Now lets fast forward to CBN governor, Soludo. Most Nigerians never knew who the CBN governor was previously or the power they had or how they performed before Soludo Stepped in. Now, the CBN governor position is now the Most powerful Financial position in nigeria because Soludo has done a good job and made the appropriate use of that position because he is well read and knows his job. He has excelled tremendously, though he is not perfect, but has made the nigerian economy and banking the envy of both western and the developing world. Now suddenly, that position which has never ganned such attention and was never as tasty as minister for petroleum and others is now the most powerful , sought out and discussed postion in the country and yet again, some Nigerians are now looking for ways to blackmail Soludo and get him fired in order to occupy his position. Unfortunately, nobody has a better alternative and the only basis for the agitation is because of Soludos tribe and the percieved notion that all his policies have favored the south vs the North since Obj and now Yaradaus administration. What a JOKE we have become in Nigeria. Now, Dora Akunyili is now the minister of information and suddenly that position which most people never knew existed has now become the big thing, drawing all the attention and everybody is talking. The question WHY?? Why is it that when an IGBO occupies a postion and takes it to the next level, makes appropriate use of that positon, delivers to the people of nigeria and consequently increasing the status of such a position, ALL other Nigerian politicians suddenly Realize the importance of that positon, try to discredit their good performance so they can occupy such position, but as soon as they occupy that postion, it suddenly goes into oblivion and nobody hears about it again?? This has been a trend. IGBOS are harworking and know their job and it is amusing and amazing how some Nigerians make a fool of themselves around IBGOS when they attack the achievements of these people just based on Fear, tribalism and Jealousy? WhO knows the Next position an IGBO man OR woman will occupy and make popular again, and who knows how our dumb politicians will gravitate to occupy that position and ruin its influence and importance in the process. IGBOS will always have the last laugh but Why the HATE and why can't Nigerians rejoice in each others achievements instead of trying to tear them down, ? You sense of reasoning is both skewed & uneven. . . . . |

Tell her u'll call her back as you are oon your way to evangelism etc. After a few weeks she'll RUN !! Trust me |

sbo: You are right. In fact I heard on Sky news that the British Govt have provided her with Legal represenation and that she has been visited by the British High Commissioner thrice since she was imprisoned. But that is the British for you - Citizenship diplomacy. As far as they are concerned, whether she is guilt or not, the rule of law must be adhered to. And more importantly, human life is very important. We need to fix power and police first. . . . . .one step at a time. This almost 50 year old woman called Nigeria will make it - by God's grace ! |

ElRazur: Noting to imagine.
Your point is to try and cause the usual boring and repetitive debate of how the police are rubbish in Nigeria. It aint the first time people are kidnapped in the world and it won't be the last. Might bore you,but doesn't remove from the fact her life was put at risk by ineptitude. So what do u expect? I should congratulate them for a job well done? |
