I went to Ojodu today, made my complaints and a picture of another car was shown with my number plate on it. I contested it and I was made to produce my proof of ownership certificate. And the issue was resolved peacefully.

But I keep wondering if it was a Photoshop

If you have a Lagos or Abuja plate number just be aware that there are many fakes out there. There might be as much as 3 other vehicles using the same number as yours driving and renewing registrations in different states in Nigeria.

The worst thing is that there is nothing anyone can do about it except one of you using the same number bites the bullet and goes for a fresh registration of plates and documentation.

It happened to me.

No that’s not entirely true. There are several things that could make an engine starting smoking and losing oil which can be fixed so far it is not corrupted with sludge due to extended oil change intervals with bad oils.

He was right to ask those kind of generic questions. The op just came here to say he has a smoking engine without giving out any other single information concerning his vehicles make, engine type, when the issue started or any prior works he had done that might have triggered his problem.

That’s why I just didn’t know what to say to help him.

I have come again o
Last month my car eod was blinking D light, as I was driving home, so when I got home I park, they I started seeking for advice here and some other channels.

Some advice me to check the fluid level, I checked the next morning before starting the car, true it was below the low point.

So I decided not to drive it until I got another fluid, but I do start it to warm every two days, but I later begin to see, park, at same time with reverse light and D light blinking while the car is in park.

I took it to mechanic, we remove the fluid and put oando dexron 3, but these light are still showing, I was told it might be pressure switch, we changed it, we clean all the sensors that are cleanable, the electric rewire trace eventing traceable but yet these light remain.

So he remove my car ECU/brainbox and put another one from another eod, and immediately all the lights clear off, the rewire told me that my ecu got problems that I should change it.

But I told him to wait, I want hear from an expert on nairaland on what they will advice.

Should I change the brainbox or is there any possible way out.

Though the gear is driving well with those light on and D blinking.

As yet he put in the other vehicles brainbox and you tested it you say it worked properly abi? Did you SCAN YOUR TRANSMISSION TO SEE THE ISSUES BEFORE YOU STARTED SWITCHING PARTS?

If you did a scan while your D light was blinking before exchanging ecu’s and there was no codes then I’d suspect your brainbox.

But if you never did a scan then I’d advise you to return your former brainbox into your vehicle and then test if it still gives the issues, if it does then SCAN THE VEHICLE TO SEE THE PROBLEM before taking any other steps.

Scanning is cheaper than replacing sensors, oils or ecu’s plus it makes you know the exact problem you should be tackling.

I decided to reply you because you might learn one or two things from me.

I had my first BB phone in 2009 when I was in 100L Comp Sci. I sold it to learn PHP, JAVA, Visual studio and VB.net programming languages and I bought Nokia torchlight green screen.

In 300L, I already had 8 out of 26 secondary schools that belongs to a popular church in Nigeria and another government college of health with over 3000 students as my clients. I believe you know what these means.

What I wanted you to know is that you shouldn’t be calling people impoverished as they maintain the vehicle they drive and love because you are opportune have up to 10 at your disposal.

Or was it poverty that made your radiator to spoil and overheat your engine at that particular time you said it happened to you? Machines break down and get repaired or replaced as a norm. This has nothing to do with poverty but reality.

Can you pls give me an idea of the estimate of the cost for each engine mount?

To be sincere I don’t really know. But I’d budget N9k for the front and back engine mounts each, N7k for the side engine mount and N5k for each of the 3 gearbox mounts to be safe. Remember that not all might be bad if you’re lucky

Normal fee for asking electrician to help with his battery to start your vehicle was N500 but they now jacked it up to N1k, the greedy Good Samaritan collected almost 4 times that amount and you feel what the op did was bad?

If it was me I will ask for N7k to help him start his own vehicle back. So next time if he feels like helping someone stranded he will offer help than to greedily try to take advantage of someone who is helpless.

Op you did wonderfully well by teaching the greedy fellow a well deserved lesson. Don’t mind what hypocritical peeps are saying here, it’s how Nigerians generally behave.

You should have informed and advised the guy that had lost count of how his Honda is having overheating every week because the only time I had overheating, it was caused by my radiator which I changed and it never occur till I sold the car.

Finally, with the level of my illiteracy and ignorance as you claimed, my car has never sleep at any mechanic workshop for any reason since I have started using car because I take care of the toys the way I take care of myself.

Okay. Then your problem is your engine mounts. One or more of them are bad. Try to take the vehicle to a mechanic to check and replace the spoiled ones and the vibrations will disappear

Whenever I start my car and put the gear on D4, it begins to vibrate/shake...but once I press the throttle and begin to accelerate the vibration stops.

It doesn't vibrate when on Park or Neutral.

The car is a Honda Odyssey 2001 model.

Doesn’t your gear have a D ? Why skip it and use the D4 in the first place?

And now I ask did you really read his own post very well? Can you see that your issue was actually one of comprehension . The bolded part in his post was concerning the same CR-V which according to you must have been the ‘old model’ if you were more knowledgeable about vehicles you’d know that most ‘old model’ engines were made of cast iron blocks and hence had a higher chance of not being warped after overheating unlike modern aluminum engine blocks.

You didn’t understand what he posted about and proceeded to say he was impoverished due to your misunderstanding his posts content.

It’s okay, everybody makes mistakes. It just takes a bigger man to retrace his steps and make amends if possible.

Okay I understand you. But you said Peter Obi gave naira to become the labor party candidate and I ask, ‘how much did he give’? Do you have a definite figure? Was it spoken about or written of anywhere? Isn’t it just what we hear flying about? Do you know exactly what was causing the legal tension between labor party chieftains?

The APC & PDP candidates on the other hand openly gave out and shared dollars to the extent that newspaper dailies and television stations, heck even social media got wind of the exact amount of dollars that was shared around to delegates. That’s open corruption they did without hiding anything from anybody. They shared it brazenly without shame. NO , we Nigerians can’t make the same mistake over and over again and at the same time expect different results. We have been fo.ols for so long and something has to give.

Out of the three candidates you and I know that Obi is the most mellow and the only one who can have the power to effect a change from the norms. His leaving pdp and joining labor party means he has fewer godfathers over his head to please. He can have more autonomy to work.

If you can’t see these red flags in what APC and pdp did during their primaries then it means there’s something blocking your gaze. It might be tribe, party affiliations or outright hate but I know there’s definitely something.
