Hello all,

Please does anyone know the most appropriate NOC to use for a job profile which matches that of an account officer in a Nigerian bank (popularly called marketer) in order to apply for the express entry?

Hi Guys,

Hope you all had a nice weekend. Is any Nairalander in Winnipeg? I will be coming to Winnipeg for a week holiday and I would like to meet some friends.

@Tianadiva, how are you doing. You in Winnipeg yet?

Congrats dear. Your story only reaffirms the fact that persistence pays. Don't worry I will fly to Manitoba to come celebrate our next birthday. Hehehe.... I still remember we almost share the same birthday.

To others currently in the TRV struggle, I urge you never to give up. Sometimes, you encounter failure on your path to success. Bi ekun ba pe dale, nnkan ayo nbo lowuro (sadness may persist through the night but joy cometh with the morning)

Wow! This thread runs at a supersonic speed. I arrived here in Saskatoon on Tuesday and since then I have been trying to settle down. Thanks to God, I have completed my paper work and has moved into my residence. My journey was pretty much on point except for a 9hr layover I had at Frankfurt airport. No sort of delay at point of entry in Canada (my bag which contained my foodstuffs was not even checked though I declared the contents). This is in sharp contrast to our customs people at NMIA; I had to even rub their hands with 2k when they were wasting time checking my bag. Lol

Canada is really a beautiful country and her people are nice to a great fault. Nigerians that are here also are not bad; One who is in my school and who also happened to be the President of their Graduate Student Association took me round the Town yesterday and I was able to shop for so many things I needed. I wish other Nigerians here too could be nice as him, Lol.

Amefrica, hope you had a great journey. Tianadiva (I guess I got the name right), I hope you had a lovely birthday celebration. Mine was yesterday.

To all the great guys and ladies who have made this thread a success from the likes of Chrigo, MissBon, Bros Siga, SaxyWale, SlimDel, Gboyega and others too numerous to mention, I salute your kindness and humility.

Have a lovely day ahead guys!

kayjegs: I need help here o. I should be in Canada this week to start my PhD program. I bought a ticket to travel this Thursday but my flight is enroute Amsterdam to US to Canada. I was told I have to get a US transit Visa to pass through the US to Canada. Some other persons said it doesn't matter for student visas. I need an experienced person to help out with info on this. Thanks
My Usask bound mate, I am afraid you would need a transit visa to pass through USA. Infact, even if you are having a 5mins layover in USA, transit visa would still be required. You may like to book flight whose itinerary is along Europe; you won't need a transit visa for that.

bigfrancis21: You're talking about bank transfer which incurs a lot of charges.

If you use GTB, you can deposit money directly into your bank account using the Western Union bank transfer option. On the receiving end of GTB, they'll process it immediately and have it deposited into your account. I know this because I use GTB.

If you don't use GTB, another option is to send money via WU or MoneyGram to your brother/sister and have them deposit the money into your account or whichever account you want it deposited into. Since WU is available in most banks in Nigeria, it follows that the recipient will go to the WU in the bank where the account is, to cash the money and deposit the money quickly right there in the same bank to avoid carrying huge cash around.

Yeah, that's true. However, you need to be profiled on Internet banking to be able to receive the money sent through Western Union in your GTB account.

Nabylet: Pls house, How do I get my transcript to apply to schools? got here n my uni refused to even give me the students copy except I provide dem with an address. Can I give dem unilag's address or the embassyhuh How will I even get it from unilag or the embassy huh Pls help. How did u'al get ur transcript?
Most schools only send transcripts directly to Academic institutions, reputable work places and scholarship organisations. I was able to get hold of mine while serving. I served in a University and I got it sent to my HOD who handed it to me. You can try something similar like that and get it sent to someone you know who works in those categories of places I mentioned earlier.

Meanwhile, Kindly note that for your admission to be unconditional, transcripts will be required to be sent directly from your academic institution. A student copy of your transcript may only get you a conditional admission.

I hardly comment on this thread but at this point, I guess I will have to.

Ms Nas and BigFrancis, you guys have really been helpful on this thread and have been a big source of inspiration to others. Don't fall our hands now. Being humans, we are not above mistakes, and as such we should learn to accept our shortcomings. You guys should sheathe the swords and allow peace to reign. You are both the winner in this drama. Never knew you guys are great Thespians. Lol.

ValerieXO: hi, how did you pick your seat online? I really want to do that.
You can always check in online from like 30hrs to your flight time on your airline website and choose your preferred seat (most airlines actually do permit that).

Hi Dami,

Glad you had a smooth ride to Frankfurt. I can only imagine how boring and tiring it is waiting for 6hrs for your connecting flight to Toronto (mine is 9hrs and I am already dreading it).

I know I have asked you this before, but let me reconfirm. I guessed one is entitled to two, free 23kg baggage allowance on Lufthansa. (I am flying economy). The notion I have been having is that it is only one 23kg bag that is free. Don't mind me, the load wey I get pass woman own. lol.

Wish you safe trip to Saskatoon. Cheers mate!

constant57: Good day honorable members of this thread,

I have a friend who is seeking to migrate to Canada through the federal skilled programme. His profile is below

Age. 32
Educational qualifications Bsc (chemistry), Msc ( intl affairs and diplomacy)
Work experience: 8yrs (as a marketer in Banks)

Now my question is can he apply as a Financial and Investment analyst considering the nature of marketing in Nigerian Banks?

Secondly, gurus should help me to analyse his points so as to know the minimum points he need to score on IELTS.

Thank you.
Dear All,

Sorry for bugging you with questions. Please, I am still awaiting reply to these questions.

kayjegs: @Akanni and constant57....thanks so much for the info. I could have chosen 1st September but there is orientation on the 2nd September at the University of Saskatchewan where I will be doing my PhD. The orientation is for graduate students so if that's your school too, you have to be there by then. As a result, 1st September may be late.
Yeah, am quite aware orientation is Sept 2nd. Mine is a peculiar case as my supervisor wants me around in early September since he is away on vacation and won't be back until then. Nonetheless, current graduate students in his lab have promised to put me through on arrival so I don't miss any thing. Thanks all the same.

Cheers!

kayjegs: Anyone with idea of how to get a cheap air ticket from Lagos to Saskatoon between August 21 and 25 departure dates. I am due to resume for my PhD in Canada. I want tickets cheaper than 300,000 or on it. pm me if you have a useful info on that.
Hi,

I doubt if you would be able to get ticket within that price range at this point in time. We are right in the peak of summer, and as such, ticket prices have skyrocketed. If September 1st ain't too late for you to travel, you can get ticket of like 250k on travelstart (Lufthansa). I will be travelling to Saskatoon as well on that day to begin my Msc.

Goodluck.
