Politics › Re: Buhari's Government Is The Most Transparent In Nigeria - Senator Ita Enang by contigiency(m): 11:06am On Jun 17, 2018 |
stephanie11: @POLITICSNGR
Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Sen. Ita Enang, on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s government was the most transparent.
Enang stated this when lawyers from Akwa Ibom, under the auspices of Akwa Ibom Lawyers Forum, visited him in Abuja.
He urged lawyers and all Nigerians to feel free to approach government functionaries on activities of government they were not clear about, rather than forming wrong opinions about government’s intentions.
The president’s aide said that as an important part of the society with ability to shape public opinion, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) should avoid the temptation of acting on unfounded information.
He advised NBA, lawyers and other Nigerians to always seek clarifications about government activities, saying the present administration was open to giving clarifications on its policies and activities.
“President Buhari’s government is the most transparent in Nigeria and he has put in all he can to serve the nation.
“The president and all of us working with him are the servants of the people and we are always ready to attend to concerns by Nigerians about the running of government.
“Nigerians should feel free to ask questions on what they do not understand rather than assuming and forming wrong opinions about workings of government,” he said.
On allegations that the Executive was attempting to muzzle the Legislature, Enang said that such allegations were unfounded.
“The Executive is not muzzling the Legislature. It is only asking the legislature to act within its constitutional powers and not get into executive realm, otherwise the executive will continue to resist.
“We have seen and read about three or four judgments in the last few weeks, saying the legislature does not have the powers to exercise most of the powers it has been exercising.
“For instance, indicting someone or asking someone to answer to criminal charges before them, are the things the executive keeps resisting because they are contrary to the law.
“These are the actions that some people misinterpret to mean that the executive is either not cooperating or it is muzzling the legislature.
“The executive is only asking the legislature to act within its powers and allow the judiciary to be the judge between them,” he explained.
On Buhari’s ambition to run for a second term in office, Enang said his good records were speaking for him.
According to him, the president’s record of achievement, integrity and love for country are bare for Nigerians to assess and do the needful in 2019.
Earlier, a leader of the group and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Paul Usoro, had said that efforts were being made to reposition the NBA to enable it regain its lost glory.
Usoro, who disclosed that he was running for the position of the President in the forthcoming NBA election, said the bar was currently facing challenges.
“There is a need for strategic plans to strengthen the Bar as an institution. The accounting system for instance, is weak and needs to be fixed.
“When we are able to fix the problems bedeviling the association, we will win the confidence of lawyers and when we speak on governance, we will be listened to.
“As a body with over 40 lawyers, we should be able to make an impact.”
He noted that unless the NBA was repositioned, it would not be able to ensure the protection of rule of law, which was one of its primary roles.

life2017: Two former Governors, Jolly Nyame from North East(Taraba) and Joshua Dariye who is a serving APC Senator from North Central (Plateau) have been jailed so far. Both are members of APC.
The theory that you become a saint once u move to APC is not entirely true anymore.
Some have now change the narrative to it is only Northern Christians former Governor who are being jailed. But they forgot that former Adamawa state governor Bala Ngilari a Muslim was jailed by same high court for 5 years and taken to prison before he was later set free by Appeal court.
The former Taraba and Former Plateau Governors still have an opportunity to go to Appeal court.
Another "bad belle" argument some people make is that why is Amaechi not in jail? Below is the answer to that: Uduaghan is in PDP and still in PDP. He stole massively in delta state. He is yet to be sent to Jail. Theodore Orji of Abia state wrecked Abia state. He even went further and stole the Mandate the people gave to APGA. He is still in PDP and not in Jail. What we can say is that no past former Governor from Southern Nigeria has been jailed under this administration. We should stop mentioning Amaechi back and forth because of his immense contribution in preventing our Hero (GEJ) from getting a "second and half term" after enjoying "One and a half term" I totally concur. |

chilariye: *DID YOU KNOW*
The First Church in Nigeria was built in 1842, some say 1898 (Google it)
BUT
1.The first Mosque was built in Ọyọ-Ile in 1550 A.D. (Google it)
2.The most recognized in history is the Great Mosque of Kano built in 1582. The great mosque was built for Muhammad Rumfa in the 15th century and was moved to a new site by Muhammad Zaki in 1582.
However, history has it that mosques were built in
Iwo town in 1655 followed by
Iṣẹyin, in 1760;
Lagos, 1774;
Ṣaki, 1790;
and Oṣogbo, 1889.
The bottom line is whether 1550 or 1582, Islam has been in existence in Nigeria for almost three centuries before the coming of Christianity.
The British came and forced their religion on our forefathers which led to lots of them changing their names and becoming Christians.
Next time CAN talks about Islamization of Nigeria, please educate them.! Islam did not just start. It has been there. If we did not islamize anyone all these years is it now because Buhari is president. Why is CAN even screaming islamization now that for the first time a pastor is in the villa as vice president? There was never an Imam who became Governor. In benue we had a Catholic priest as governor. In taraba we had a reverend both in Northern Nigeria. Now we have a pastor as vice President. Please let religious bodies sow the seeds of peaceful coexistence not disharmony and needless suspicion. QED!!!! Copy and paste or share You missed your rout. check the appropriate tread for this your post, we are discussing a serious matter here. |

Rochas even when someone like me want to have pity for you, statements like this makes me to change my mind. You brag and see yourself as the lord. I am fully aware that members of APC in states like; Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambara, are not in the party because you are there. Those states have their leaders who are members of the highest organ of the party. Even in that your state, many people will still remain in the party should you leave, the outcome of the congress is a point in that direction.
Again, if you take a look at the ranking members of the party in the region who are more connected to the party organs and the presidency, without any prejudice, you rank below Dr Ogbonnaya Onu. And If you come to Ebonyi, you will see that he has cult loyal followers. He is highly respected in the presidency and in all the level of the party.
The same followership is there for Dr Chris Ngige in Anambara. And you are aware that Orji uzo kalu, Sam Nkire, senator Nkechi Nwogu, Bob Nwannunu, Senator Ken Nnamani, Elechi, Sourlivan chime, etc all have huge supporters base. I didn't mention any one in your state for obvious reasons.
Yes, members of your party would not want to lose you because you still have a lot of contributions to make, but to say that the party will die in the region if you are not there, is a big insult to others. |
