This wingers thing has been discussed extensively on here. It's a myth. What you need is intelligent play. A tactician who can work out how to play, wing play or not. With all the talk of Wingers stretching the game, ManU could not even light a candle next to Barca. They had four wingers in the team, Barca had none.

Wingers are great but I do not believe they are priority and I am very sure AVB shares the same opinion.
so pedro and david villa played as what? defenders? nateevs keeps yapping like a wet puppy these days - it must be the excitement of the appointment of andrea villash-boash grin

the board - arsene wenger - players
federal ministry - university council - vice chancellor - lecturers.

@coogar,
How much is Sneijder worth?
35 mill for him at 27/28 is a stretch really. It's exhorbitant.
how much did we pay to get berbatov @27 in 2008(when the british pounds was stronger against the euros)? until then, berbatov had no league title in a big league, no champions league title to his name. now compare to wesley sneijder who has won in spain, italy and holland. wesley sneijder who was few seconds away from winning the world cup had robben been more clinical in front of goal.

Fergie won't throw that much for someone like that, especially since the Veron episode happened.
he threw on rooney, berbatov, de gea, smalling.

That price is a huge gamble, not only for the club, but the player himself.Aside Figo and Zidane, in 2001 there was hardly a better central midfielder in Europe (Scholes maybe could be included in that list) and we got him for around 28 mill.he was a disaster, really and his career went downhill from there till he tried to reinvent himself in Estudiantes around 2009.
veron became a disaster because fergie had to reshuffle the whole pack. played scholes in a position not convenient to the gingerman. now, there's a huge hole in that midfield begging to be filled. it's not like fergie will move someone out of position to accommodate sneijder. that position is bread and butter for him. i will say let's get him. he's in the top 3 midfielder in europe. to get a world class player, we must pay world class fees.

It seems Morratti wants to load-shed the guy,i hear his wages are DEATH. . .
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2016904/Manchester-United-told-bid-Wesley-Sneijder.html
i am not arsed about these wages. blame the british government. the decision to bump the price from 40% to 50% will definitely affect the wages.
£250k for sneijder means he willl only take home £125k per week. whereas, if he was moving to a club in spain with 23% tax, his asking wages wouldn't be more than £140k per week. it's the tax that is screwing sneijder's deal not sneijder himself. his take-home pay is a key factor.

Everton has not won anything. But they are still in the league. Pompey won't be for a long time. David Moyes is a miracle worker at Everton, underated and that is why the board can't fire him cos he is overachieving per his resources.
he's taken everton exactly where everton should be. besides, they don't have idiotic owners like the portsmouth saga where they were changing owners like every week with each one making ridiculous demands or promises. compare like for like. david moyes has been with everton since 2002 circa and he has won nil. he's a failure as far as i am concerned.

Per stadium attendance percentages Liverpool, Fulham and Chelsea are no where near Arsenal with a bigger ground. Is that because the beer is better at the Emirates or the buses run quite often? Or the London population is highest near the Emirates?
that may be because there are more arsenal fans willing to spend more money to watch fooball than the fans of chelsea, fulham and liverpool. this same arsenal used to rent wembley to play even before the move to the emirates was hatched.

it's different to what ivynwa was saying about a man that died after little illness because he had mistreated his wife. the mistreatment and the death did not happen on the same day. there must have been months, years in between - which was why i said the 2 events are independent of each other. whether the man had mistreated his wife or not - his death was bound to happen as he died from an illness completely unrelated to what he said to his wife. . . . .reasons why i said ivynwa should stop being superstitious.

No Baby, I ain't being superstitious here. I am not one to get superstitious. I am not saying that the actions of these men brought about their death. No! We will all die when it is destined for us irrespective of the stuffs going on in our lives.
I am only saying that sometimes when we humans play god we get too narrow-minded and forget about showing true love to others and only concentrate on loving ourselves even if others get walked upon in the process which shouldn't be.
but that is life. someone has to cry for someone to laugh. all those times you took the first position in class with your parents celebrating your success with champagne, someone out there was crying with her parents attacking her with curses, scoldings and slaps. it's the way of the world.
do you really think that day you got your letter of appointment, someone did not cry elsewhere for losing it?

I agree that one should be married to who one loves, I gave the poster the credit for trying to help his fiancee slim down but I don't think he did enough. If they were already married before she got fat will he divorce her just like that, I am sure he would have done all his best to help her.
if they were already married before she got fat, the op wouldn't have any choice cos he made her fat! trust me, men can live with such especially if it's the fatness that comes with child rearing. but don't get fat as a result of gluttony. women should learn to take care of their bodies. there was a reason a man chose to marry a slim woman in the first place - its not accidental.

if i am buying a benz, i will expect it to have some wear and tear after few years. i will not expect it to grow fat!

4-2-1-3? This is slightly similar to the 4-3-3 we play sometimes. No qualms

We need a CM tho . . . If we get struck by injuries which will inevitably happen during the course of the season, we would struggle.
4-1-3-2 has wingers in the "3". germany used 4-2-3-1 at the world cup, using muller and podolski as wingers with ozil in the centre.

i am saying. . .

raf-----rio---vidic----evra

---------carrick------------

valencia----sneijder---young/nani

-----chicharito-----rooney------

Emperoh:
I disagree. . . . . he didn't play in our high profile games last season.
Giggs was mainly the main stay. the few games he played, paul cannot be said to have made a difference.
All we need to do is to revert to a playing system that can accommodate his absence.
4 - 3 - 2 - 1 will work for us with Chicharito or Rooney leading the line!!
We need an AM but not with the prices being bandied about!!
giggs will be a year older. will be 38 or thereabout so you can forget giggs. if he has any decorum at all, he should have retired with scholes and neville. i don't really see giggs playing any significant part next season.

how can you play 4-3-2-1 with 2 strikers leading the line. only one striker can lead the line in that formation unless you meant 4-3-1-2.

Okay-o-o everybody clap your hands for Highbros and wish him a lovely fat-free life with his smallie. Let us also wish his "fat" girlfriend luck and hope she finds a better man that loves her even more. Alleluiah.
amen. . . .
let the fat girlfriend find a man that loves his babe fat.

You men are real funny when you dispose of women like you are gods. You don't even know tomorrow, most times situations like this turn around great for the woman.
situations can turn around anyhow to favour either the man or the woman or both. it's independent of the decision to dump the fat girl. nigerians are too superstitious.

I know a man that brought a woman abroad to marry and after impregnating her dumped her with one of the reasons being that she is fat, he went and married another woman and even rejected the child this first woman had for him. He died early this year and the first woman he deemed "fat" now has a good marriage with a nice man who even accepted her rejected child.
i also know a man in a similar situation who survived and the rejected first woman died as a result of pregnancy complications. life is a whirlwind. these outcomes have nothing to do with the prior decisions. things just happen - you don't have to connect it with the fact that i didn't greet an elderly man in the village x weeks ago and that was why my tyre punctured on the motor way. this kind of reasoning is obtuse.

Another one who got married to a fat woman abroad just to get his paper was always talking down on the poor woman, I once visited them and the woman was tripping about Nigeria and telling me how she is going to visit Nigeria with her husband, when she went into the bedroom the man was like "Look at the fat woman I am taking to Nigeria to see my people?"(I mean he told me that he is not taking that fat woman anywhere near his people for them to see). Today this man is dead after a little illness(which month did he pass away, not even up to 3 months) and it was this same fat wife that did a decent burial for him and sent his body to Nigeria for his people. These are true stories, I didn't make it up. Each time I remember these men I shake my head at life and the things we humans do to others in the name of selfishness.
so you are saying this man would have survived his illness if he didn't insult this fat woman to your face regardless of how serious his illness was? grin grin
what has this gotta do with him saying he was taking a fat woman to nigeria? so it's now a cardinal sin to think someone is fat? it's a capital crime to think one must not marry a fat woman because the outcome would be death by "little illness". ivynwa, you are taking the piss.

There are more to life than the jolly good things we all trip for my people. There are more to life.
i agree there's more to life and there's also personal choice. if i want a slim woman, that is what i want. it doesn't make the fat one evil but i prefer a slim woman. i don't think you i should be seen as evil for wanting a slim woman. it's my choice, it's my life - same as mr. highbros!

Get ready to dump the next woman when she gets fat too, or you can even start manufacturing slim-shady women. grin cool You did not make great effort here to help the poor girl slim down, I agree that you tried but if you loved her enough you would have overcome that obstacle of "fatness" with her.
how does one overcome someone else's gluttony after several warnings?

You are entering marriage with a "rose-tinted" glass, know that you will meet many obstacles in marriage so be prepared to be dumping the people around you when problems arises. Sicknesses and even "fatness" may rear their head in marriage, will you throw wifey out of that when that happens?? Marriage is much more than a nice suit and lovely wedding gown on a model wife and everything going nicey nicey, better know that in time.
spare us the preaching. . . .

obstacles in marriage my foot! every man accepts the fatness that comes with pregnancy and beyond. i don't think highbros would have been pissed had this been the case. the babe in question got fat as a result of gluttony. if she gets pregnant, she will become obese - then you start worrying about diseases related to obesity. highbros doesn't wanna be a widower at the age of 40. if you have a brother who is dating a fat chic - you better advise her to go for someone slim and fit.

They can't even buy players now and you don't see Moyes looking for Utaka type players for 80k a week.
and what has everton won since moyes took charge at goodison? nil. as a manager, you have to decide whether you really want to gun for titles or just be contented with staying in the premier league. redknapp chose the former. they were deceived by some idiotic owners that the money was there and all pompey wanted was a trophy. harry went for the jugular - he signed muntari, utaka, kanu, krancjar and milan baros on loan. . . .he simply delivered what the owners wanted at the time. it's not his fault pompey owners couldn't match their talk with money.

So why isn't Chelsea or even Fulham charging premiums even if they have smaller spaces and London fans will surely come. Oh I get it, the owners are philantropists that would prefer to spend money grin grin
fulham and chelsea charge more at the gates than man utd, man city and liverpool. london clubs charge more. the emirates is new(just like the new wembley) and will always charge premium rates so that the owners can break-even.

The only player that I fancy there is Schweiny.
Never been a fan of Ozil, poor work rate and stamina and he would be the worst player to play in a 4-4-2
Khedira and Tiote are defensive CM's but I'd take De Rossi though for tenacity and his never-say-die attitude. Perfect for a 4-4-2 formation.
there are rumours fergie is about to abandon the 4-4-2 project. 4-1-3-2 and 4-2-1-3 are what fergie is working on next season. if fergie does not replace paul scholes, united will struggle next season.

So AW can be called a perv, underachiever, stingy, financial manager but he does not get credit for the stadium/club success? Maybe Amodu Shuaibu could have achieved the same thing but then it wasn't him. Give AW a break.
did he build the new stadium with his own money?

In an era where Portsmouth FC got relegated because of Harry Rednapps over bloated player value and salary spending. Fact is every coach has ambition and not all fits into a business plan.
pompey went down because they couldn't match the wages they pay their players with their revenue from the gate-takings. it's a bit rich comparing a team in london to a team in a village in the south coast. it's the equivalent of comparing a club in lagos to another in zamfara.

Think Aston Villa and Martin O'neil? Interesting that Debo said Wenger is responsible for the playing side of things but not turnover. shocked shocked haha that is funny, Arsenal tickets are at a premium, close to 100% on match days and for a club that has not won trophies do you think folks pay for better beer? Or do you think that Arsenal can charge the same amount if they play Sam Alaydyce football?
that's the essence of staying in the capital. west ham play shit football and they still fill up their terraces. fans don't go to the emirates because of the football they play. fans go to the emirates to watch football. . . . . .just like the way fans watch qpr/millwall/spurs/charlton/westham. these are london clubs and they will pull fans whether they relegate or not.

You can't write the history of the Emirates without AW, hate him or love him. He has done the hard work, which is to work with kids. Give the fella his dues, he didn't build the stadium but he is big part of the picture. ***CLUE**This is why the board can't fire him.
charlton fc couldn't fire alan curbishley. lemme guess. . . . .it's because he built them a stadium like wenger, isn't it? grin grin grin grin

don't have time to crack my head today, let those who read my statements judge for themselves.
But if I heard you correctly, what yu're saying is that if a VC runs into problems with Lecturers unrests because he couldn't increase lecturers wages while the university was embarking on some capital expenditure which would increase IGR for the university.
That VC deserves no credit at all because he answers to a Council? grin grin grin
Debo, honestly I find this very funny.
And this same set of people will turn around and blame the same Arsene for Transfers, increase in players wages e.t.c
why do you people dance around like confused masquerades? undecided
this boy is an illiterate. . . . .wrong analogy! the vice chancellor does not control the wages of the lecturers. they(both the vc and the lecturers) are all paid by the federal ministry. so yes. . . .the vc deserves no credit. grin grin grin grin
mumuface, look for good examples. failure to do so and everything dayokanu has called you on this forum is the gospel truth! grin grin grin

Factually yes there is - your article implies Arsenal have moved from not being anywhere when Arsene joined to where we are now. You make a direct linkage between Arsene joining and where we are now.

In simple terms you are giving him the credit for where things have ended up, which is factually wrong.

No one says you need to write an essay - Wenger is responsible for the playing side of things, and is not responsible for increasing our turnover.

If you're saying Wenger is working with reduced funds and doing an ok job, that is fine - don't attribute our increased turnover to him - Wenger did not increase our TV revenue from the EPL neither did he build the stadium.
mumuface, can you read the emboldened? grin grin grin grin grin

Here we go again? Must yu talk just because you have to talk?  undecided
before, it was about Arsene solely building a stadium, now its about whether he has done well or not.
can you please sort out what yu're arguing about in your thick head first?  undecided
listen to debosky. . . . . .we now know you are a wenger lover. wenger is responsible for all that is good in your world. wenger pays your rent, pays your wages and even pampers your wife for you. grin cheesy it's wenger-wenger-wenger!

@ Dudu

Your comment implies that Arsene is the one that deserves credit because fails to mention all the other people who were arguably more instrumental to making the move than Wenger. It's disingenuous to link Wenger to increased turnover when the main cause of this change - building a stadium, was neither initiated nor executed by Wenger. He assisted the project by keeping us competitive, but he's not responsible for the increased turnover.
and he managed to do that with a huge slice of luck on his side. . . . .city and spurs were still minnows back then. it's not something any of the top four clubs can afford now because the underdogs are now aspiring to be top dogs.

anyways, i have wummed dudu enough now. . . . . .off to watch prime minister questions. tongue tongue tongue tongue

I was thinking how can people delete me because of 50rm
if that was your thinking, then your first step is to hear from your friend first before going public with her profile. you didn't even know if she fell sick, had an accident or travelled out of town for an emergency. all you were interested in was to come on nairaland and become a superstar. grin

I wanted to warn people but it seems like u guys don't appreciate warnings so fair enough.
warn people about what exactly? come off it, this is not about warning. you just wanted to seek attention. wink

To each your own. Well, in Malaysia slit of scanners would do like what jazzy did. Ignore, If u don't believe me. Start doing your research. Otherwise stop talking
next time, never ever lend someone what you cannot afford to let go. if they bring it back, it's a bonus. if they don't simply forget it and move on. rm50.00 is what beggars make in malaysia. i wouldn't open a new thread over it and you shouldn't cos it's nothing to you - so the question begs. . . .why did you open this thread? cheesy grin
