ladies, when you pray please use the word man or boy in your prayers not husband. praying to get a husband(somebody else's spouse) is a wrong prayer so when people's husbands run after you in droves, remember you were the one that asked your creator to give you one.
Politics › Re: Jonathan Proposes 7-year Single Term by coogar: 4:59pm On Jul 12, 2011
Muza:
Jonathan proposes 7-year single term

, for President, governors • National Assembly’ll get bill soon

Worried by the rising cases of violence and tension across the country during elections, the Presidency has concluded plans to send a bill to the National Assembly for a single term of seven years for governors and Presidents. It reasoned that political violence was always caused by the resolve of incumbent governors and president to run for a second tenure of office.

National Mirror gathered that the Presidency would soon send the bill to the National Assembly after the Senate might have concluded the screening and confirmation of ministerial and ambassadorial nominees. It was also learnt that the Presidency was presently putting together another set of nominees for screening and confirmation for appointment as ambassadors and representatives of of Nigeria in foreign countries.

Reliable sources close to the Presidency told National Mirror that the decision on the proposal to reduce the tenure of the governors and President to a single term of seven years was reached between President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the sixth National Assembly with an agreement that it should be one of the first major bills to be sent to the lawmakers after the screening exercise.

It was also gathered that the bill would be part of the input of the Presidency in the next amendment to the constitution, the process of which would begin shortly after the screening. According to the source, “There is a bill from the Presidency which seeks to alter the subsisting provision of the constitution which provides for a second term tenure and replace it with a single term of seven years.

“The President wanted to present the Bill to the former National Assembly but was advised against it because there was no much time left to the end of that Assembly. “The bill is still a proposal, but why we suggested seven years is because the number of years will certainly be reduced to either six or thereabouts. We know that it would generate a lot of controversies and there would be all manners of suggestions to reduce the number of years. “Why I said so is because those drafting the bill did not state clearly whether the single term will begin with the incumbent President.

It may also interest you to know that because of the tension that always greet the re-elections of incumbent governors and president, it was agreed that beyond reducing the tenure to a single term, there should be a provision whereby the rotation of the presidency amongst the six geo-political zones would become a constitutional issue. “But the problem and criticism that we expect now are that if you include rotational presidency in the constitution, people would now question the moral justification because the President himself is not a product of zoning.

“Maybe that aspect would be removed before the bill gets to the National Assembly, but I can confirm to you that there is a bill on single term to be forwarded to the National Assembly soon,” the source said. The 1999 constitution provides for a second term of office for governors and the president. A former principal officer of the last Senate told our correspondent: “I was personally briefed with the thinking that some of us would return to the Senate and possibly retain our positions in the leadership and we were to support it when it comes, but truly I bought into the idea as a person but felt seven years was too much. “Again, when the law takes effect is also a problem to me because the bill is silent on that very important aspect and that is the much I can tell you,” the ex-lawmakers said.

no problem with the proposal as long as it does not start from him. . . . . let it start with the next president.

@ Coogar,
I notice the gradual introduction of disclaimers and qualifiers in your arguement about why Mrs. A and her spouse do not share the same last name.  cheesy Well, I won't say much more on this - in good time the reason for the difference in names will be made clear. It may indeed BE as you have argued - she has her maiden name on her passport and this is why she and spouse do not share the last name.
since that possibility is legit, is it worth pursuing? don't you think ukba will be more happy to bring out incriminating acts against this woman and they would have conducted every check possible to convict this woman? give them some credits. . . .

And then again, it may NOT BE as you have argued. As JJM has so eloquently and persuasively pointed out, more sinister reasons CAN AND DO exist for a couple not sharing the same last name, particularly in the context of this matter we are discussing, spanning 14 odd pages  grin. But I will give Mrs. A the benefit of the doubt until new information is made available. I saw the difference in the names and it struck me as odd. Indeed there may be nothing to it . . .
i have ma reasons for saying there may be nothing to it and that is because the ukba is now much more involved. you guys keep assuming bimbo delivered those babies sometime last week. she's had them 2 months ago - if there's anything fraudulent, it would have been fished out by now. i am sure her documents she filed in from lagos would have been screened properly even before the story hit the media. how long does it really take ukba to fish out a criminal in these days of modern technology?

One thing which stands out in this case is that we (or at least I) don't have full information except for what is in the public domain. If you are in the same position as I am, you would do well to refrain from sweeping assertions which you cannot prove beyond all reasonable doubt.
which is where common sense(a virtue that is not common) prevails.

And one more thing . . . tone down the insults. You do your arguement no justice by liberally lacing your points with one invective after the other. I enjoy frank exchanges as much as the next person,  cheesy but there is a thin line between healthy, robust debate/argument and plain verbal abuse. Don't cross that line. I say this because your 'opponents'  grin on this thread have been quite civil (compared to some of the stuff on other threads).
well, maybe you should pay attention to the missives directed at me as well. to the other divide, i am the reason nigeria is backwards, i placed ibb, obasanjo, abacha and yaradua in the presidency. i was the major cause of the lagos flood amongst other evil vices. am i supposed to smile at that or tell these folks where to stick it?

lord of mercy. . . . .the russian case i wrongly brought up? the same case you did not believe and you were asking me to provide? the similarity between bimbo's case and the russian parents is the fact that only the doctors can give the go ahead when the kids can fly and that was why i brought it to light. i know comprehension skills can be ambiguous to a herb like you but if you tape it shut, i wouldn't have known you are a simpleton. . . .better if i assume you are one than make it so obvious by writing bollocks on a public forum.

Sagna is a RB, Vermaelen is our first choice CB and Koscielny is his back up. Throwing any of those into the LB position will be suicidal.
how do you know they are not even better at lb than the preferred cb? these are footballers and wenger must have his reasons for selling clichy. it's either there's a replacement in the pipeline or someone somewhere is ready to fill that role within the squad.

I believe it's going to be Gibbs as the first choice, my hope is that when (not if) he gets injured, Traore has absorbed some defensive nous from his time at Juventus to step in and make the role his own.

Maybe the goals didn't suffer too much, but that meant we remained stagnant and didn't get the incremental improvement in Ade we would have gotten.
ade was a destructive force in that team. if he had stayed, arsenal might have easily missed staying in the top four. wenger sold him at a profit and increased the wages of his wards. . . . .that to me is squad improvement - whether the players now performed to the required expectation with the wage increment is a different matter entirely.

Secondly, Wenger's reputation is not very good buying replacements. One could argue there are no replacements for Clichy in the squad, but that doesn't stop AW saying Gibbs can step up.
i am sure wenger expects one of his big defenders koscielny, vermaelen or sagna to play on that left side. there's no way wenger would believe gibbs would nick a permanent shirt in that position.

Your selective analysis beggars belief. The question of why she is not using the same name as her husband is very much relevant to the issue of whether her story as a whole lacks credibility.
Not relevant, not applicable is a tad different to "no brainer"(obvious, glaring)  my dear!
it's not relevant to the issue because husband and wife had history before they got married. it's like asking why your gcse certificate does not have your husband's name on it? i mean, who would dare ask such a question!!! blimey, give ukba some credits. . . .  if you think they have not done the proper checks to convict this woman, then you must be smoking woolies.

ukba will find out a visitor with an outstanding bill if/when the nhs decide to shop that visitor. not the other way round. this is why it's called data protection. the ukba cannot force it out from nhs unless the issue of life/death or bomb terror is involved. grab a book and read up the act.

Abi o. Coogar is just fighting a lost cause. I agree with you Justwise and I am happy she and her children are doing well but how Bimbo went about it is wrong and may have made things worse for future applicants. Anything that is worth doing is worth doing well.

The crux is that Wenger is unlikely to buy a player of equal value or quality.

Henry was sold for £16.5m, rising to £21m with appearances and all. Did Wenger ever spend £21m on a striker to replace Henry? No.

Ade went for £25m; Wenger never bought a £25m player to replace him. I could go on and on. . . .

Ultimately if Wenger is not going to spend the money, I'd rather have Nasri for another season instead of vainly expecting Wenger to replace a player when we all know he won't.

Liverpool sold Torres and bought Suarez and Carroll. If I had confidence in Wenger making such replacements then I'd say sell both Nasri and Fabregas right now and let's get on with the show.

Utd sold Ronaldo for £80m, but two years down the line they've spent £50m in one window and may not be done yet. Arsene has made £35m in a window and has NEVER spent that type of cash in one window to strengthen, so I'm not expecting that to change now.

Unfortunately we all know Wenger will likely not do that, instead he'd either buy obscure players or promote from within.
nasri is too big a player not to be replaced. henry was done n dusted even before his move. how many times did he really feature in his last season at arsenal. adebayor was easily replaceable by team-mates, wenger didn't need to buy like for like. nasri and cesc will leave a big hole in arsenal's midfield area. they are quite young and there are no replacements in the squad yet so wenger must buy to replace them. . . .i agree their replacements might not be equally talented but it will be daft for wenger to sell those players and keep the money for the board to split. that will be equivalent to chaos and errrrrr, anarchy!

Really i will accept that not all men cheat their wives if 50 men out of 717,268 members on NL who have been married for 50 years can testify that they have never cheated on their wives in their 50 years of marriage. why 50 years? because i belief that for a man to be that old in marriage, he must be at least 75 years old, he must has seen it all and probably sexually irrelevant/inactive  to intimate pleasure than younger men.
and you think nigerians will be truthful enough to admit they have cheated on their spouses on these pages? your lie detector test will go up in smoke if you attempt it. cheating is a norm in nigeria. around the closing time/break time on the island, you can never get a free hotel room. they all get booked. as soon as break is over, the rooms become available again. who are the guests that fill up these rooms? married bankers, insurers, stock brokers, business men/women, etc cheating freely on their spouses without any remorse.

Which is clearly not the case here!
if the question is not relevant and doesn't apply to the issue then you don't need to use your brainpower to work it out. . . .this is also a no brainer.

JJM:
see quote direct from UKBA website:

"Do visitors qualify for medical treatment from the National Health Service?
Rights and responsibilities

This page explains whether you are entitled to free medical treatment from the National Health Service (NHS) while you are visiting the United Kingdom.

Visitors are not allowed to enter or stay in the United Kingdom to receive free medical treatment from the NHS. Except for treatment given in a hospital's accident and emergency department, you will be charged for any treatment you receive. You should ensure that you have enough medical insurance to cover your stay.

You can find more information on the Department of Health website."

I also refer you to the link below to improve your knowledge of the subject area.Its called the National health service not the International health service.Contrary to your assertion IT IS NOT FREE TO VISITORS,EVEN IN AN EMERGENCY,YOU WILL BE TREATED BUT HAVE TO PAY UP AFTERWARDS!

http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Healthcare/Entitlementsandcharges/OverseasVisitors/Browsable/DH_074379
this is the loophole in the system. ukba says the patient should pay but this is what the nhs say. . . .

If you think that you will be charged for medical treatment, but can’t afford to pay, then you should still talk to a hospital administrator as they may be able to help you. The NHS is supposed to treat its patients in confidence, so even if you’re not living in the UK legally, your details should not be passed on.

by the time you combine data protection with the human right act, you will now see why ukba must insist on every visitor coming to the uk should have a verifiable health insurance scheme. the ukba should refer applicants to their own trusted insurance companies in nigeria to avoid any fraudulent or malpractices of forgers.

income support;
child tax credit;
working tax credit;
a social fund payment;
child benefit;
housing benefit;
council tax benefit;
state pension credit;

an allocation of local authority housing;
local authority homelessness assistance
income-related employment and support allowance.

as you can see, there's nowhere on the list that says if a car runs through an illegal immigrant or a visitor, the nhs should not treat him/her. public health is free in the united kingdom. emergency and complex cases like bimbo's should have been dealt with by letting visitors come in with health insurance schemes. the ukba failed to do that in nigeria so whose fault? an insurance company should be paying that £200k, had the ukba done their homework.

If it wasn't, UKBA will not be asking people to pay up their medical bills before even allowing them back into the country. UKBA do not ask if visitors owe a UK bank or credit card company money do they? cos that is private sector funds and they(the banks etc) will need to ensure that you are good for any loan before granting it to you-They are not even likely to grant a loan to non UK residents!
so who pays for a & e/walk-in centre victims that the nhs treat for free?

Like you revisited it when he didn't leave last season?  undecided tongue
shaking my head. so cesc and nasri will be like new signings now, won't they? you are a big joke.
wenger has won nothing with them. and if his egotistical fight to keep them succeeds, he'll win nothing with them again next season.

REAL MEN DON’T CHEAT UNREALISTIC MEN DO
I will like to ask you the following questions.
1. Will you be happy if your son takes after you?
2. Will you be happy if your daughter gets married to a spouse like you?
3. Will you be happy if your wife is doing the same thing as you?
4. What kind of family do you want to raise up?
5. When you are old and on your dying bed will you be happy that you have live a good and godly life and ready to meet your CREATOR?

If you sincerely answered these questions, I believe you can summon all the courage you need to break such a negative habit. I believe you love your wife and you truly fear God. With His grace and your own self determination you can overcome it. I am not going to tell you it will all that easy but your determination will go a long way in helping you. GOOD LUCK.
with all due respect, these questions are irrelevant because my children have their lives to sort out. if you spend the whole of your life tutoring your wards not to cheat, lie, etc - it still does not guarantee they wouldn't do it. even after being told everything, the decision still lies with the child. his/her choice will be independent of what he must have heard. this is why some pastors have wayward children in spite of what their parents preach.

And na your useless club nor be the worst agbaya of all? na by force to buy player?
your silly people are even knocking the boy's confidence just because, you are managing coloured toner in your yeye club.
The boy loves Arsenal he is just unfortunate enough to come from Catalunya and that is what your people are preying on, as if its only in Barcelona he can win trophies.  undecided
Did you ever hear that RM valued him at 50m?
Cesc is never gonna dump Arsenal I can assure you, the truth is the only club he is willing to go to is Barcelona and it is quite understandable why he does but he will ensure that Arsenal gets fair value for his move you can count on that, so go and tell that Roseline of a man to pay up or STFU your arm twisting tactics didn't work last season so why do you think they will work this season? undecided
i will revisit this comment when cesc dumps arsenal in few weeks time. tongue
