there's a reason the media can't go after van gaal - they know he has improved united massively - recovering us from the pits moyes plunged us to. as at the time moyes came to united, we were the champions. after 10 games, we were 8th on the table. van gaal met us in the 7th position.....if we are 9th now as a result of injuries & bizarre circumstance, then he's not done badly.

LVG is infinitely better from what i have seen so far. it's not his fault that smalling lost his head or our defenders have refused to be fit all season. how would mourinho have done if all his first choice defenders are crocked and playing away to the champions of england with 10 men for 60 mins?

with moyes, we lost 4-1 there last season with 11 men, first choice defenders & rooney in his preferred position. you can tweak the stats all you want but only a blind bartimeaus would not give LVG credits for the job he has done so far. we are 3-4 defenders away from becoming a world class club again & that's satisfying as far as i am concerned.

i don't even know where to start. smalling's stüpidity cost us the game. until that moment, we bossed city on their turf. we had more possession & blind was on top of their midfield. yaya toure was anonymous & we were breaking at will.

it's difficult to judge LVG.....
the football has improved without a doubt but he has been very unlucky with the injuries. no manager would get victories with the rotten luck he has had. i think we should just get rid of the sick notes & that includes jones, evans & smalling. they are too unreliable to haul us back to the promised land.

the big teams always seem to have the same back four in nearly all the big games. with united, it's always the reverse. where was rafael? why weren't jones & evans fit. by the end of the game, we had 2 rookies(paddy & shaw), a midfielder & a winger in our back four. that's simply not good enough for a club of our size. sack all the defenders & buy fit ones next summer.
