elampiro: Winning penalty is tantamount to scoring a goal. We can't discard such, particularly when it was he who eventually scored it. It's like creating a chance and scoring from it. Penalties have decided big trophies in regulation time.

It's sleep time. The players know themselves, even the coaches know where they put their money/monies.

But our house is just a seating room and a bedroom with toilet facility the type they call two room self contain in Lagos. Sometimes I close from work on getting home I see him sleeping on my bed, sometime my husband will be in the seating room watching movies and his younger brother will be sleeping on our bed. If other strikers work as hard as Rooney in the middle of the pack, we should not be having problems so much defending. Lazy Berbatov and hyena Chicharito left so much gap in our team making Rooney to suffer. No wonder he wanted to leave

2009/10: Why won't him be injured when he was carrying a mighty load that season. The support was very weak. We lost Ronaldo, Tevez and Hargreaves and it wasn't so easy.

Was Rooney the only player on the pitch? Rooney is more likely to score against the big teams more than any of our players. In the match against Man City, how many times did we get into their box? No thanks to the men at the middle of the park.

RVP led the attack: He scored 25 assisted 8.

Wayne Rooney scored 12 goals and assisted 10
Chicharito scored 10 assisted 3

Rooney helped with 22 goals to the team success. Assisted his co strikers with 10 goals in the season.

2011/12
Lead striker: Wayne Rooney 26 goals, 5 assists.

Support striker: Berbatov scored 7 assisted 0
Chicharito scored 10 assisted 2.
Welbeck scored 9 assisted 4

Three other 3 strikers could only come up with 6 assist while supporting. This means defenders,midfield players and wingers will have to push forward to help search for goals while leaving the defence exposed.

If the assistant strikers have done better in assisting for goals, the league should have been won.

2010/11
Berbatov lead the attack: scored 21 and assisted 4.

Wayne Rooney scored 11 assisted 11
Chicharito scored 13 assisted 1.

This means Rooney contributed 22 goals to the league success playing behind the strikers. Rooney again helped his fellow strikers with 11 assists.

2009/10
Rooney led: Wayne Rooney scored 26 assisted 3
Berbatov scored 12 assisted 5.

Berbatov could only come up with 5 assistS all season. If he had done better more goals should have been scored to win the league. So Rooney only got 5 assist from his partner.

Kgdavid: wrong! obviously there was no such clause and even if there was, it would be meaningless. both parties have a right to review a contract before signing and like someone earlier said the amendment to the contract would be viewed not as an amendment to the original contract but as a counter offer to the original contract. therefore, such a clause is completely meaningless except if the amendment was physically made on the original contract agreement. it is absolutely not the responsibility of the offeror to highlight out the provisions and clauses of a contract. that is the reason why you are given a contract agreement to read and sign on. ceteris paribus, there is no case against the man.

Even the seasons under contention (2010 and 2012)we were just unlucky not to have won the league. 2010 Chelsea won with one point even with dubious victory at Old Trafford coupled with Rooney's injury late in the league after UCL in Germany. Rooney missed the game against Chelsea in Old Traffor, before his injury we were on top with few matches to go.

2012 Man City won with goals difference, some matches can be blamed for that narrow miss. Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford when SAF sat Rooney on bench to try and discipline him, then Paul Scholes and Raphael were unnecessarily rested at Wigan and Newcastle rendering Valencia impotent.

When Rooney scored 26 goals, Berbatov contributed 12 goals with Ryan Giggs being the next with just 5 goals. How can the league be won that way?

This bring to the fact that Rooney impact from the middle of the pact helps his team mates to success. But when he moves up to lead, he doesn't get such support

What does all these show to us?
It has been able to show us that your Rooney who you said could make the difference with players such as Januzaz, Zaha, Lingaard could not make the difference better players when he was given the opportunity in 2009/2010 and 2011/2012 to lead Man utd to glory.

After Ronaldo and Tevez's exit in 2009, Rooney was given the opportunity to lead the line and he was Man Utd's highest goal scorer with 26 goals without winning the EPL.

It took SAF to promote Berbatov to lead the line and also bring in Hernandez for Man Utd to win the EPL back in 2010/2011.

He was also given the opportunity again in 2011/2012 to lead the same men RVP lead to glory in 2012/2013. His 27 goals could not win Man Utd the EPL and the most painful thing was losing the league by goals difference until RVP came in 2012/2013 to help win it back.

We can all see now that @elampiro's Rooney all along these years has been a Spare tyre just as @Coogar have always said. There is nothing so special about him as you have said. Rooney cannot single-handedly win the EPL for us. He is not in the category of Messi or CR7. We know he's a good contributor but he's not the type of player who can determine the faith of a team.
