StarBoard: Firstly, O'Shea shouldn't have been a midfielder for any reason at a club like United. How he managed to become versatile at United is beyond a mystery to me.
Same as Fletcher. Fletcher was rubbish up till mid 2007/8.
Scholes stayed on for too long and it was actually painful watching him play for us at some point.
So to an extent we never really could say we had dependable bodies in the midfield, including injury prone Hargreaves and Anderson.
I'm not advocating for Thiago. But right now the way Michael Carrick is playing it would be a waste to put someone like Busquets on the bench.
why should one sit for the other when the two can play together? they would be the mid-2 in the 4-2-3-1 like barry/de jong, barry/toure, alonso/khedira, schweini/martinez, etc.

if we have 2 specialist destroyers then there would be no pressing needs for the man in the hole to always track back - 6 players to defend, 4 players to attack with or without the aid of our fullbacks.....

ileobatojo: You have a penchant for self mutilation don't you? Once again, you quote another article that counters your own statements and supports mine. Lmao!
you have a problem with comprehension!

I'm still waiting for your credible sources. Even this article is quite questionable. How can they say globally 100,000 of every 300,000 (33%) is fathering someone else's child and in Nigeria the number is 3 in 10 (30%), yet Nigeria's numbers are considerably higher? Like I said, please quote credible sources that can get their figures right. Thanks.
you are a dork - the 30% figure is the generally accepted stats all over the world but these nigerian experts have found out that it's considerably higher in nigeria than anywhere else.......DNA testing is new in nigeria, there was no prior survey before these doctors did theirs - everyone just accepted the only available figure(the global figure). from the article i quoted, the doctor said 50% of his cases turned out to be negative! i repeat, 50%!!!!

StarBoard: It's almost no use having a Busquets in our side when you have a similar player in Michael Carrick.
No one is doubting Busquet's abilities. He is under-rated, just like Carrick.
Right now what we need is a creative player to complement Carrick.
we had carrick, scholes, fletcher and oshea when we bought anderson and hargreaves. oshea, fletcher and now scholes have all left, shouldn't we fortify the midfield again? is it too much to have 2 top-tier defensive midfielders in a squad as big as ours? we haven't replaced hargreaves since 2009 - we need another destroyer like him to compete next season - thiago isn't the answer, i would rather have alex song.

this is another piece...
The issue of asserting the paternity of a child is a very dicey one and has caused many surprises for men who thought they were the biological fathers of their children. It must be very heartbreaking for a man to think that he is the biological father of a child but after carrying out a DNA test, it proves otherwise.

In a recent interview with The Nation, a DNA expert gave some interesting statistics about the paternity of Nigerian men, saying that at least three out of every ten Nigerian men are not the biological fathers of their kids!

What we have found out is that, anytime we take ten men, at least three of them eventually found that they are not the fathers of the children they call their own. And these men would have taken care of the children for all their lives. Now, the global statistics is 100, 000 out of every 300, 000 men. But what we have found that is that the situation is higher in Nigeria than other places. For example in our laboratory here, 50 per cent of the cases comes out negative. And we also realised that majority of the first-borns are affected. You only need to be here to see big men cry like little kids and watch children weep in agony. It has been that bad.

He further noted that thirty per cent of fathers are unknowingly bringing up children who are not biologically theirs, and the percentage may be on the increase due to sexual recklessness. According to him, negative paternity results is both rampant in matrimony and casual affiliations.

I tell you, we have had series of married men come here and go back home devastated. In one instance, a man came here with his wife. Out of the five children he thought were his own, he discovered that only two belonged to him. And they are both duly married, living together as husband and wife.

As someone who tests about 15 to 20 families weekly, he mentioned some instances that could warrant a man to take the DNA test.

People come here as a result of various types of controversies over the paternity of certain children. You know, families have come to us with claims that a child neither takes after the mother nor the father in looks and character. So, the man of the house would be curious to ascertain facts. And when they come here with such children, the fears of the fathers have often been affirmed. Fathers usually have the doubts; maybe he has been hearing some rumours, and you know, men are often the last to hear such things about themselves. Until many of them come here to take the test, they have nurtured other men’s children before realising it.

ileobatojo: I really hope you don't truly believe all this rubbish you are posting. 50% of tests in his labe means 50% of tests in his lab does not mean 50% of all of Nigeria. Period. Let me know when you actually have a credible source for the random numbers you are throwing around. I'll be waiting.

ileobatojo: Your problem is that you exist in a looping vortex of idiocy. There is no hope for you unfortunately.
you are a consummate simpleton!
there's no chance you can ever be sane if you continue this way. if you cannot understand a clear and concise article such as this then your intellectual compass has been permanently damaged!

You are the one that stupidly exposed your own claim as rubbish. Once again read the article you posted yourself.
you are a flaming charlatan!
30% is the global average - it simply means nigeria is higher than the global average. some countries in the world would be lower than the global average. if you think every country on the planet would return with 30% negative results in paternity test then you are infinitely dumber than i once gave you credits for.....

You said 50% of nigerian firstborns are bastards even though the article where you 'got' that information from said no such thing. The article says 50% of the tests in the lab are negative and in your ignorant mind, you took that to mean that 50% of nigerian firstborns are bastards.
you must be physically/spiritually blind.....

According to a forensic geneticist, Dr. Abiodun Salami, 30 per cent of fathers are unknowingly nurturing and investing in children who are not biologically theirs.

Salami, who is also the Chief Medical Director, DNA Centre, Lagos, revealed that 50 per cent of the all paternity tests carried out in his laboratory came out negative and mostly affected were first born children.

He said, “Several surveys have shown that approximately three men in 10 are living under the deception that they are the fathers of another man’s children and with advances in genetic testing, they are more likely than ever to find out the shocking truth. Half of the paternity disputes and tests we carried out in two years showed that the fathers were not biologically related to their children especially when the dispute arose on paternity of first born children.
Even when a superior mind has already told you that you cannot use the numbers out of one lab and blindly apply it to all of Nigeria. Yet in all your stupid glory, you still insist that you must.
i am not a brain surgeon but from where i stand, i can tell your thalamus and cerebellum have swapped places. dr salami is telling you even though several surveys have showed 1 in 3 men are unknowingly fathering bastärds, his lab is producing a different results that's higher than the global average......

I just have one question for you and I hope you won't beat about the bush and just answer. Dr Salami himself based on this article is the one that said 30% of Nigerian men are unknowingly raising bastards.
there goes your window of stupidity - you have exposed it again with your flawed comprehensive skills. show me in the article where he said 30% of nigerian men are raising bastärds.

Since his lab numbers of 50% are so representative of all of Nigeria and you insist that is the fact, can you explain to me why the doctor himself is not using his lab numbers as the number for representing all of Nigeria? What exactly is the reason why he would quote a different number from his "all Nigeria encompassing" observation from his lab when that is all that he needs to speak for all of Nigeria?
until he did a survey in his own lab, 30% was the globally accepted statistic but his own lab showed a higher value after he compiled the stats. read the article again, but this time, with your thinking cap on!

dr salami's DNA centre(the largest of its kind in lagos) has 50% negative results - he has been operating for 5 years, if i may add! why must you assume all the paternity tests done for less than 300 passengers is the representative of nigeria?

the people who travel abroad are not the only ones required to do DNA tests, why are you isolating each instance i gave? look at the sum of the parts - inheritance issues are there too.

Incredible!

So, people who have visas to travel abroad, people who are suspicious of the paternity of their children and the small fraction of the 200something people in the air crash represent all of Nigeria as a whole when it comes to paternity fraud?
yes, the sum of these parts represent nigeria......if you have an iota of cognitive reasoning - these are actually the women that have no primary reason to cheat cos this is the middle-class, they are not enmeshed in acute poverty so what's the motive?

ileobatojo: Quit embarrassing yourself. Hopefully this will be the last time you will go around spewing those ridiculously false, made up numbers of yours.
you are the one embarrassing yourself - i think you are naive or you have just lost touch with reality. whichever one it is, you are on a slippery slope!

Please educate yourself. The people coming into his lab cannot be representative of the whole Nigeria for several reasons. First of all, said it yourself, only the rich will go there but what percentage of Nigeria's population are rich? Also the sampling from his lab is already skewed and biased because it is people that already suspect a problem that go there, of course there will be a high turnout of positive cases because there was already high suspicion. Therefore the numbers out of his lab can NEVER, EVER be used as a sample to represent all of Nigeria.
ileobatojo displaying his ignorance without fervour!
the people going to the lab is the truest representative of nigeria - do you just type because you like the colour of your print.

the sampling from his lab is not skewed - many went there to do a DNA sampling to prove the paternity of the children they are taking abroad - some did because of inheritance issues and some did because they were suspicious!

whatever the case may be - the point still stands that nigerian women are unfaithful - if the bulk of dr salami's clients are middle-class, it then begs the question: why are these women unfaithful?

checkmate!!!

How ridiculous of you!
Wow, I still can't believe this is what you've been quoting up and down the place all this while!!!
you are plumbing new depths of idiocy here....
what are you talking about? what blew this case sky high was the dana air crash.

is this the case of prior suspicion of infidelity or ileobatojo is high on amphetamines as usual!!! give up and stop debating on what you are ignorant of!

And by the way, you don't know his sample size so you don't know if it is decent or not. If in 2 years, he only had 100 people come in for DNA tests, how can that be a decent sample size?

ileobatojo: According to the article...
So where are you getting your 50 percent number from when the article you provided says 30%.
30% is the global statistic - it's 50% in nigeria

According to a forensic geneticist, Dr. Abiodun Salami, 30 per cent of fathers are unknowingly nurturing and investing in children who are not biologically theirs.

Salami, who is also the Chief Medical Director, DNA Centre, Lagos, revealed that 50 per cent of the all paternity tests carried out in his laboratory came out negative and mostly affected were first born children.

Half of the paternity disputes and tests we carried out in two years showed that the fathers were not biologically related to their children especially when the dispute arose on paternity of first born children.
Also, where is the study itself? This article says a survey was the source. What kind of survey was it? What was the sample size? Were the randomly selected or did they go to the most promiscous, poverty stricken areas to sample from there? Was it representative of the population of the entire country? Was it peer reviewed? Abeg bring this survey itself let us peruse it so we can determine the credibility.
this is what peeves me about people like you - must statistics cover every human being to be credible? the DNA centre in lagos claimed 1 in 2 cases failed paternity test. is 1 in 2 not 50%? what level of social class in nigeria can afford the DNA test? the poverty stricken areas? you mean a country where majority live on less than $2 per day can afford paternity test of $300 on each child?

the men are absent because the wives are determined to punish them. after having them kicked out of the house, they get the cops to slap a restraining order on them. the only contact the men have is her account details where he must wire the kid's child support!

Would you not immediately leave your marriage if you were being physically abused and being cheated on?( if that was one of the reasons why she left). It could also have been due to a myriad of reasons. Lets not be judgemental please.
myriad of reasons? what reasons?
how are you so sure the reason was domestic abuse? you are accusing me of jumping the gun and you are clearly doing that here......

There are children of divorced parents that turned out exceptionally well. We need to begin to take responsibilities for our actions, and stop playing the blame game. Michael adebolajo was a 28 yr old man.
he was less than 18 when the divorce was completed. maybe he was 12 when the separation took place and there must have been various tiffs before separation - in other words, michael grew in a home of strife!

of course - there are children of divorced parents that turned out exceptionally well and that was in spite of the divorce not because of the divorce. on a level playing field, kids raised in a happy marriage would turn out better than the other divide.

makes me laugh when i see nigerian women who are not worth £10,000 threaten to divorce their hubbies at the drop of a hat! women worth millions of pounds stayed in their marriages for their kids, and ultimately for the greater good!

ileobatojo: So basically, you believe that an adult that chooses to be battered and unrepentantly disrespected so as to be able leech off another adult wise and refined?

Got it.
they did not choose to be battered and leech off their husbands. they chose to be in the marriage for their children, it's called selflessness - you need to learn it. you know, putting other factors before our own selfish needs for the greater good......

if michael adebolajo's mother didn't walk away from her husband, maybe the son wouldn't have turned into a terrorist. she thought she made the right decision some 10 years ago, we can see the effects now! so, women should keep leaving their husbands at every pitiful excuse - the end shall justify the means!

lady gogo: Of course she is allowed to contest as a divorcee, but would she have won(well she ended up not winning)let alone becoming their Secretary of State.i sure as hell dont think so.There would have been two strikes against her-Being a woman and a divorcee. Americans are still very conservative in their thinking. Dont be fooled. A lot of their political wives dont stay if there is nothing to benefit and it doesnt necessarily have to be economic.
what political post was posh gunning for when she decided to stay in marriage with a cheating david beckham? prime minister?

jackbauersballs: To be perfectly honest,I don't really feel bad that this soldier was killed.

I feel bad about HOW he was killed...and the circumstance of his death..and the fact that it was a Nigerian what done him...

But I really don't feel sympathy for him...

If that makes sense.. undecided
you don't feel sympathy the young life of an innocent boy was cut short? na wa o. would you feel sympathy if he was your sibling?

well, they are nigeriens, not nigerians!!!

what are the odds that the fleeing boko haram members did this? let them limit their violence to niger republic. who knows - this attack could have been planned to happen on nigerian soil had jonathan not declared state of emergency in the north.
