barca's front 3 is so potent, there's simply no hope for any other club to match them. barca can play funke akindele & omotola in their central defence and still win the treble. only real madrid have a small chance but they facked it up for not signing reus/hazard/griezmann this summer. benzema needs to go.....ronaldo must move to the central position. barca are 9 light years ahead of the others and there's no way any team can match them for now.

29 is a big age for a player that started playing at a top level since 17. it means rooney has given 12 years of his life in a top league when the shelf life of a striker of his size has an average of 8-10 years.

simple glance at his history theory does not wash. rooney was the best striker in the club in 06/07, he could only score 14 league goals in 35 appearances. as at that time, SAF didn't even know any other formation apart from 4-4-2. so what's the excuse?

you want to rely on a fat 30-year old player to perform in the same level as costa, aguero, suarez, lewandowski, etc? you have a better chance becoming the next british prime minister. by the time you realise rooney is totally washed, we would be out of 3 competitions and fighting to finish 4th with west ham.

i don't need a tactics site. i have more information on where rooney played than zonal marking or any football tactics side in the world. opta does not only show rooney's positions. they also take their time to produce the images of where rooney received all his passes. as at the time zonal marking reported his one-sided article, he didn't have such info in his ammo.

rooney played alongside welbeck/chicharito. when he referred to lone striker, he was talking about 09/10. in 11/12, he formed a strike partnership with welbeck/chicharito which explained the reason he threw his toys out of the pram in 12/13. he has given several interviews on this ish & he has destroyed your claim that he's the best number-10 when he said himself that his best position is the striker position.

rooney won't score 12 league goals this season. it's no longer about the position he takes, it's the fact that age, wear & tear have finally caught up with him. he played as a striker in 14 league games last season and he could only score 4 goals. rooney has lost a yard of pace, he no longer carries the fear factor and he has the worst first touch for a striker in the whole of europe. 4-3-3 requires a striker who can hold the ball, wait for the wing forwards to drive into the box and lay an intelligent pass, i don't see rooney fulfilling that promise. this is 2015, not 2010. by october, we would be begging to have fellaini as the CF.

we can as well bring van nistelrooy back to old trafford cos he once scored 44 goals in one season. the position isn't the issue, it's the fact that rooney has massively deteriorated. even if LVG instructs him never to leave the opponent's box in a game, he cannot achieve that height again. his pace is gone, his goal sense is gone and his positioning is awful!

there's no right or wrong on this matter again. rooney has finally come out with the truth. the other time, he was a bit vague about where he actually operated by using the word "upfront". now, he said it himself he played a full season as a striker in 09/10 & 11/12. what other proof do you need? the reason rooney wanted out in 12/13 was because SAF played rooney behind RVP in a 4-2-3-1 formation instead of the 4-4-2 rooney had enjoyed playing in 11/12.

Even without reading SAF's comment we argued it here with you that the two season Rooney scored high goals were the seasons he lead our attack.
I could remember telling you that SAF will never trust Welbeck who just came back from a loan spell with the lead striking role. He'll always use him as the support striker to Rooney.
As for Chicha, he had 1478 mins (18 starts) while Rooney had 2838 mins (32 starts) which shows that Rooney played mostly as the lead striker in the 4 4 2 formation that was mostly used by SAF in that season. Whoscored also confirmed this but you kept on bringing articles from some journo and some games charts from Zonal marking. Zonal Marking that's being run by a single who only talked about selected few games.
How can you call that a political statement that he doesn't want LVG to buy a striker when:
1. We all know that we are now well stocked in all those other positions he's been used over the years.
2. Wayne Rooney is a privileged captain according to LVG. LVG didn't substitute him in some games he wasn't playing well last season.
3. "If Rooney is fit he must play" This simply means Rooney will be the first choice striker next season. Any striker we buy now is going to sit on the bench until Rooney stink the joint on a consistent basis.
4. Rooney also boldly said this 'So hopefully if I play up there again this season then I can score the goals. It is where I like to play and I am sure it is where I will play. It is where the manager and myself see my best position.'
Anyway, whether you twist it or not, the ORACLE have spoken. You cannot know Rooney more than Rooney himself. He specifically mention those two seasons we have argued here that he lead our attack. Whoscored and OPTA also align with our assertions.
