AjanleKoko: More like 100% actually.

1992 - 2 months.
1993 - 5 months.
1994 - 5 months, all the way till January '95.
1996 - 6 months
2001 - 3 months
2003 - 6 or 7 months (i forget)
2007 (or 2009, not sure) - 6 months.

That is the one I can remember.
that's how i remember it too - i have discounted student's riots, junior staff strikes and other issues. in a nutshell, studying for a 5-yr course in any nigerian university would take about 7 yrs to complete! the abacha/abiola period was a different kettle of fish. students spent about one full year to complete one semester.

Cristalz: Too lethargic to bring RVP into the game but not too lethargic to feed and create chances for Danny Welbeck, right?
Does Welbeck have two heads?
those are half chances.....and that's exactly the point!
rooney would have done better with shots on target than welbeck in the same position. fergie gave madrid too much respect by having welbeck sit on alonso. madrid were tired already with the 2 classicos - without the sending off, we would have coasted without playing too well. the sending off just tipped the balance massively towards them and mourinho took full advantage!
Yeah, a little bit of exaggeration for the sake of this banter cool. . . but on thesame length, I haven't met any fresh university graduate, straight from school that can interpret 3D or 4D seismic data without further on the job training.
thank you very much......
most of these nigerian graduates after spending 5 + x years are still labelled as unemployable so what edge do they have over a secondary school leaver? most of the so called graduates are still going to go through various induction exercises before they are fused into the companies hiring them so what's the fecking difference. i was solving GRE and GMAT tests in my SS2 without breaking sweat!

debosky: You don't need to be chartered is what you've said, or don't you want to earn £150k as well like your bosses? cheesy Be making noise about how a secondary school leaver can do your job and yet be scurrying after more 'kpali' like a church rat. grin Why don't you get chartered based only on experience if 'experience is the koko'? cheesy
over time, i would make as much as my bosses without the chartered suffix. how did they get there without a degree in the first place? i am just saying it's possible to by-pass a college degree and still have a satisfactory career.

The boy is confused jo - why isn't the SSCE suffix enough since that's all that is needed? cheesy
you are making your own argument here. this is the crux of the matter - is it possible to boss a professional career without a university degree? the answer is yes! the subject of the matter is the university degree. a secondary school leaver can apply for ACCA, study it and pass in flying colours without stepping a foot in UNILAG or UNIBEN. if he becomes chartered, would you hire a university graduate with no ACCA over this secondary school leaver? answers on a postcard please........

Personally I'm glad RVP failed to show up on the night; shows Fergie that the man isn't invincible.

Would be suicide to let Rooney go anywhere....IF he indeed wants to go. Big IF.
RVP didn't fail to show up, our football was lethargic to even bring RVP into the game. we failed to meet the standard required on the night! with rooney on that pitch, RVP would have thrived. either an assist or even a goal. madrid's defenders would have to worry about 2 dynamic strikers who can score with 1 nanosecond!

debosky: So why are you trying to get chartered? Why not simply wait to 'work your way up the ladder' the old fashioned way? Why don't you just use your 'experience' alone? cheesy
i want to get chartered cos i have satisfied all the requirements to become one. mind, it doesn't require any special written examination to become one like ACCA or ICAN. it's just an assessment of what i have been doing in the 8-10 years after my MEng! so contrary to what you think, the experience is the koko of the matter!
I disagree with your bolded bit. No way to know Rooney would have for sure performed well. He was one of our worst players in the 1st leg at the bernabeu. Giggs played well and we were leading till the red card and even after the red we was still playing well. Just absolutely no need to scapegoat giggs on this.
i like how people keep saying rooney was our worst player in the first leg. let's play giggs out of his position as a central defender and see how he would cope. rooney's attacking qualities was sacrificed to protect rafael and he's been pilloried for having the worst game. did rooney perform poorly as a centre forward or as a make shift winger?

The main fault lies with fergie when he should have reacted to the red card but he didn't and the players didn't and before we knew it Real Madrid were 2-1up. Too late by then.
it's their collective responsibility - fergie and giggs.
giggs must know if he doesn't retire, fergie would continue to choose him based on sentiments. neville would have played on tuesday if he didnt retire 3 seasons ago. neville knew this and he retired cos he's harming the team more than his positive contribution. giggs should have told fergie he's not up for this kind of game - the chelsea game this weekend is another grand occasion he could have played his 1000th game - not a potential banana skin match against mourinho's side! giggs is selfish.

You all need to stop scapegoating giggs unnecessarily when he played well.
why won't we?
rooney is pissed now and if newspaper reports are to be believed, he wants out!!! i would want out too. let's hope giggs would give us the exact number of years rooney would have given us! alex ferguson has gone senile. sacrificing the energy and verve of young players for old fools like giggs and scholes! we deserve to be eliminated for having the chutzpah to play giggs against madrid - why didn't he bring back cantona, schmeichel, steve bruce and nicky butt to complete the aroma of shyte?

flexyonline: No we are not talking about jobs that require no technical prowess. The proponents here have specifically said there is nothing in technical jobs that cannot be done by a school leaver.
only 2 of my superiors have a university degree and none of them make less than £150k a year. how did i know? i am about to apply for my chartership in engineering and i found out most of the people bossing my oil/gas are not even chartered engineers. when i asked why none of them is chartered, they said a university degree in engineering is compulsory and they had none but were trained in-house by top engineering companies with enough field experience - so what are we talking about here?

a secondary school leaver could have easily coped as well and work his way up the career ladder without a university degree.

flexyonline: Guy you just don't get it do you. Let me spell it out! If a secondary school leaver is to be trained to do the job I do, the company will have to arrange both formal class training and hands on training for just about the length of time that I spent in the university for him to achieve the level of competence I have. Is that not equivalent to getting a university degree? There are certain background knowledge you require and those are not taught in secondary school period!
that is a big lie - 70% of what you were taught in the university do not apply to your career to start with so they won't even bother training him in special electives and plenty of irrelevant rubbish taught in the nigerian university curriculum to keep nigerian youths out of trouble! you are saying it would take a young school leaver 5 yrs in-house training to get to the level you are as a fresh uni graduate? this is horribly laughable! under 18 months, he's already learnt more than all the education you have garnered in 5 yrs that engineering students spend to cop a degree in nigeria. you only know theory, he's hands on already and knows how the company works......

I am not one to type a lot and so will not refute every pint you made but that doesn't connote that what you are saying has any truth to it. I believe you are detached from Nigeria. I guess you've not spent cumulatively up to 3 months in this country in the last 10 years for you to hold the opinions you've expressed here.
i am sure i have spent 12 moths cumulatively in the last 10 yrs. what are you talking about? embarrassing myself even after producing facts every step of the way? what exactly is wrong with you people that you have so much difficulty in speaking the truth?

I will say this for the last time. It is impossible for secondary school leavers to do highly professional jobs. If I use myself as an example, I can say with modesty that I was one of the brightest school leavers in Nigeria in my set as evidenced by my SSCE results. My undergraduate study in Nigeria was tough and rigorous and laid a good foundation for my professional development. I got my one and only job since then based on my undergraduate studies. In the midst of this I went to the same UK and easily made distinction on my M.Sc in one of the top petroleum schools in the world. BUT I COULD NEVER HAVE DONE THE JOB I'M DOING NOW AS A SECONDARY SCHOOL LEAVER NO MATTER HOW BRIGHT I WAS.
after leaving your secondary school - are you saying you couldn't have coped with any oil/gas company willing to train you in-house? i know people with ACCA, ICAN, CCNA, CCNP, etc without a university degree. how are the physical education graduates in nigeria coping in the banking industry? how are the geography students coping in insurance companies in nigeria? abeg - make i hear word!!!! you criminally underestimate your potential if you think need a college degree to do certain things - no you don't!!!

obi2012: they go through residency to get trained in medicine all over again regardless of years of experience.. you make it sound like they graduated, worked in nigeria and just transferred to america as an attending doctor.. not true.. they dont even qualify for residency if they dont pass step one..

graduates from nigerian university routinely get recruited as lawyers, engineers, accountants? again, not true.. for law, you have to sit for the LSAT and go through law school all over again before sitting for the bar, engineering foreign grads typically have to get a grad degree from a US school to be considered and accountants typically have to have a grad degree from a US school and pass their CPA before they can even be considered equivalent to their US counterparts.. Even then, the US grads still get top priority

his real first experience of seeing an american doctor at work is watching "house" on TV. what does he know about the challenges of nigerian-trained doctors in america?

UK BLACKLISTS MEDICAL GRADUATES FROM NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES
Medical graduates from nine universities in Nigeria will no longer be able to obtain licenses to practice in the United Kingdom, following a decision by the UK's General Medical Council (GMC) to ban the higher institutions.

The GMC, a body of independent regulators which registers medical doctors to practise in the UK, took the decision to bar graduates from the nine universities from writing PLAB.

PLAB is the UK exam that enables non-UK Medical graduates to undertake post-graduate medical training in the country.

The affected graduates are those who graduated after December 10, 2010 from Ambrose Ali University, Ebonyi State University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, University of Jos, University of Nigeria and the University of Port Harcourt.

It also applies to those who graduated on or after April 1, 2010 from Igbinedion University College of Health Sciences and the University of Benin.

According to Jason Day of the GMC's press office, the schools were axed because they no longer meet the required standards for practise in the UK.

He added that the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) had also advised that they suspend accreditation of some medical schools in the country.

“The decision only applies to students who graduated from those medical schools after the MDCN suspended their accreditation,” Day said

Yes Giggs played very well, but Rooney on the pitch would have given us a sharper edge against Madrid and given them something to worry about far better than what Giggs was offerring even though he was playing well. IMO

Fergie also reacted slowly to the red card, as soon as Modric was brought in we needed another body in the middle to distract/hassle him and any player from, young, Ando, rafael and smalling would have been capable of doing that.

Fergie messed up, simple! I have been to upset to comment since.

look around you on NL.....and i am not talking about basic typos that can be excused.....i am talking about tenses and other basic stuff you would not expect from the so called graduate. why exactly do you think oil/gas companies in nigeria voiced out that 80-90% of nigerian graduates are unemployable. how many of them can handle presentations? abegggi - if you compare what obtains in other places to what it is in nigeria, you would be embarrassed! going to a university in nigeria is an excuse - an excuse to do nothing!

More high-falutin lies. Graduates from Nigerian universities ROUTINELY leave the country and take up good employment commensurate with their degrees in the USA, UK and Europe.
after they must have been trained. one thing about nigerians is they can adapt. put them anywhere and they would thrive. even the mallams who have never been to the 4 walls of a school went to learn to speak in english to beg alms. so that's pretty much given. the average nigerian is intelligent but the graduates don't measure up to their counterparts elsewhere.

It is YOU looking at it from an ignorant, sniffy point of view. You should actually be COMMENDING those students for brushing up on their basic math to tie in with their accountancy course. If they could afford it they would have done a foundation course in maths. Instead they turned to you. That is of course assuming you are telling us the truth.
what's there to lie about?
what's there to commend them about? they are brushing up on their basic math because the courses are now compulsory! they must pass it to move to the next level. what they basically do in nigerian university is garbage in, garbage out. no continuity, no trend. it's all about paying money to lecturers and passing to move to the next level. since the 80s, the standard of education has gone to the dogs. it's not an opinion, it's a fact!

ROSSIKE: I would take the opinions of often corrupt, inefficient and understaffed ''employers and interviewers'' with a strong pinch of salt. Give one of those same ''half baked graduates'' a visa to America and in 6 months he's pulling in a 6 figure salary. I have studied in Nigerian and western universities. I actually think the standard in Nigeria is in many ways HIGHER than in the west. MORE is demanded of the Nigerian student academically.
and i can tell you 90% of what's demanded from them would not be needed by them. they just weigh them down with things that are not relevant. my cousin i was talking about did electronic/electrical engineering.....he never saw a router till he left school and his school(OAU) is the number one school in the country in IT. they just bore him with theoretical stuff that were either obsolete or irrelevant. we compared notes a lot and he admitted the first time he sat in front of a computer monitor was in his final year - that's how you train engineers, isn't it?

First of all you are exaggerating again by relating all Nigerian degree courses to ASUU strikes. Probably less than 10% of Nigerian graduates alive have ever been affected by an ASUU strike. Secondly, handouts are a LEGITIMATE, POPULAR, AND GLOBALLY ACCEPTED METHOD of disseminating information in universities. Universities abroad give out even more handouts. In Nigeria it is especially important because of the expensive nature of textbooks (mostly foreign).
which idiotic handouts? where? exploit students to pay for handouts and give bonus marks to handout buyers? in the west? wipe the side of your mouth, there's blood oozing out from there.

For you to attack the giving out of handouts simply shows your ignorance of modern education. Did the lecturers ask students not to buy the relevant textbooks, or you expect the universities to provide free textbooks to students?
go to a damn library and read up on the course itself. why must buying handout attracts marks? is it an intellectual exercise to pay N2000 for handouts? then you went on to say only 10% of living graduates experienced ASUU strike.....you must have crawled out of a rock. minus the students going to private universities, at least 80% of living nigerian graduates spent more years in school than the course required. stop lying to cover up the inadequacies of the NUC and the education ministry.

They were taking you for a MUGU to collect money for partying and chasing babes. They did not do the above, rest assured.

how are they graded? buying the hand-out alone attracts 20-50% depending on the eccentricity of the lecturer. students who didn't buy them would fail the exams or score a very low grade. the ones who bought and still failed would go to the lecturer with cash gifts or sex and they are moved on to the next semester. i cannot count the number of times i have sent money to my party-loving cousins in nigeria to buy tyres for their lecturers to pass xyz courses.

they all graduated with a strong 2-1 and working in various banks and MNCs today. nigerian students? only about 10% of them are worth the stress.

honeric01: That is not how it works, PHYSICAL cash are not suppose to be transferred to a forex manager, only the trading account ID and password is given to the trader.

The fuss here is that Antonio and some others sent money directly to his account (refer to the first page). Only the money directly transferred to Nicodemus account can be paid back because that's how forex works. (before you enter the market, you already should know the risk/liquidity involved and whatever is lost can hardly be paid back).
in a nutshell, the currency involved is in yen and not the american dollar, right? odiaero is a fraud!
look at him talking a good game like the money involved is in dollars.

jay bee: Always knew the dude was a loud mouth. I just hope he hasn't bragged his way into errmmm errrmmmm NL girl's yansh.
I don laff tire
more like let's hope NL girls have not danced azonto into his dirty boxers........
if i were honeric, i would go medieval on odiaero's life. beat him till his stomach busts and the last meal he ate drains out.

ROSSIKE: Absolute nonsense. Just because you disrespect Nigeria doesn't mean squat. A Nigerian graduate in ANY DISCIPLINE is a far superior intellectual product to a high school graduate. Fact. A Nigerian who graduates in Economics, Management, Medicine, Law etc from UNN or even LASU, how can you compare such a person with a secondary school kid? Are you mad? Listen, if you don't know what is taught at universities, say so. Just don't come in here typing this stuff.
he is not and stop getting insecure over someone else's opinion.
there are loads of nigerian graduaates in any discipline that cannot construct a simple sentence in any language. oral/written skills are primary 3 at best. what do they teach in nigerian universities? garbage in and garbage out. in my SS2, i was teaching math to some accounting students in the university - their excuse was they never studied further math in their secondary school so what exactly are you talking about?

jay bee: Just $220 shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
You can't be serious
you really think odiaero would transfer $30k to a faceless being over the internet? of course it has to be in yen or the zimbabwean dollars. if you mods don't take my request seriously, i would cause a riot. can we fuse odiaero's soldiers with shopclue's ovaries?

montelik: No doubt about SAF should have reacted to the obvious threat Madrid posed when they brought on Modric. But there were no real options on the United bench. All we had were Lindegard, Smalling, Young, Kagawa, Rooney, Valencia, Hernandez. None of those is natural central midfielder. Its one thing to criticize SAF for not making an obvious substitution that would have helped contain Madrid, but fact is that there was no obvious changes that would have helped us deal with Madrid's midfield superiority. What we needed was to bring in an energetic central midfielder who could press and close down Madrid midfielders, while maintaining discipline (solid positioning and good tackling) around the 18 yard box, but we had no one even close to capable of that on the bench (please don't say Rooney who when asked to drop back in midfield against Chelsea at Stamford bridge was getting caught out of position and making reckless tackles that led to at least one goal). Jones was injured and Fletcher's (the only midfielder we have who fits that bill) career is all but done. This is why I was so annoyed when we did nothing about our midfield in the summer. In seasons gone by we would have brought on a fit Fletcher, Hargreaves even Ji-Sung Park who would provide the necessary cover. But we are top heavy on either ball playing central midfielders, whom are either more attacking (e.g Tom C, Ando, Kagawa) or lack the natural energy, burst or athleticism (Carrick, Scholes, Giggs) and Fletcher is all but done.
abeg abeg abeg.....stop this line of argument, what do you mean by we had no energetic midfielder on the bench to press? what's anderson? energetic goalkeeper? what about valencia? look him up, he plays as a central midfielder for ecuador. what about ashley young? in his last season at villa and sometimes for england, he can play in the middle. we had enough on that bench to see real madrid off but fergie's substitutions were idiotic and not timely. with nani off, united should have gone 4-2-3 immediately. take giggs and welbeck off, introduce anderson and rooney and we would have seen madrid off.

I would understand the criticism if we had Jones or Fletcher on the bench and hadn't brought them on, but they weren't available. None of the changes we could have made would have significantly helped. Even if he was available, Ando is not good enough pressing and tackling on the edge of his own box, not to mention his reaction, anticipation and positioning when defending are inconsistent at best. We could have brought on Rooney for RVP and he might have been able to may be frustrate Alonso, but Modric would still have been able to overload and kill us with his fresh energy and intelligent short play in the middle. Fact is we didn't have the options available to deal with the red card and Madrid's smart change in tactics. You can second guess and say this change or that change would have made the difference, but there was hardly an obvious option available. In situations like that, there are not guarantees.
anderson is our best central midfielder when it comes to urgency, aggression and the ability to travel with the ball which was what we needed. after nani went off, we couldn't even keep possession, we kept hoofing it upfield and the attack kept coming back to us. anderson has the ability to collect the ball and go on those mazy runs that would have relieved our defenders. yet, fergie persisted with giggs and tired legs till madrid got 2 goals and made the challenge insurmountable.

We need to bring more variety in our midfield even it means some players have to move on. Well on the next one.
we have variety - i had predicted the outcome before the game kicked off. once you have a manager that puts his selfish interest ahead of the interest of the team and the fans then this is what happens. there's no effing way anyone can convince me dropping rooney was the right tactics. it couldn't have been. real madrid feared rooney more than van persie or giggs. what was he doing on the bench? yet again, giggs has cost us another important game. add to the 2 champions league finals against barcelona(2009 and 2011) and now this one - i think the fool should retire after this season. his continued presence in the squad is harming us big time.

we went to city, chelsea, newcastle, etc and outplayed our opponents without giggs and won. why did fergie change the scripts on tuesday? 1000th game?
