Direct football might not die, but it's presently on the backfoot. R.madrid won the league last season but where are they now? Crumbling! You say you can't play possesive football in england...remember Arsenal's invincibles? You ever watch swansea of late? Even bayern munich. Dude, this is good football's era.
where are swansea on the league table? the arsenal invincible was a bit of both - they mixed tippy-tappy with some of the crudest football you can ever see. lauren, keown, vieira and gilberto were mean motherfückers who broke bones when required.

barcelona lost the league race last season - why didn't their possessive football beat mourinho's pragmatism? city won the premier league, why didn't arsenal's possession football or swansea's spanish style win the english league? enough with all the nonsense you guys are spewing. there are many ways to win a game of football!

thegoodjoehunt:
Can you explain to me how playing more possessively mean that they never had a possessive side to their game? The present German national team hold the ball more possessively than the team that featured in 2006 Coached by Jurgen Klinsmann. Does that mean that there is no possessive side of the game coached by Klinsmann? Michael Ballack was key to that team and he was a pass master.
this is a crazy statement to make.....
no manager or tactics instructs the players to give the ball away carelessly. you can argue the present german team is more talented than the 2006 but to argue one team deliberately gives the ball away is criminal! the present german team are younger, more talented and their main ethos is their counterattacking football!

Now the Germans are tilting towards being more possessive than before.
I watched the Arsenal vs Brighton game today and both teams played lovely possession football. I pray more English teams tilt towards this direction.
it has never worked!
possession football with a purpose is the key! hugging possession without hurting your opponents is just a waste of time - as arsenal have been known in recent times. this is why many prefer direct football in england. look at all the newly promoted teams that came into the premier league - only stoke have stayed in the premier league for so long and they didn't achieve it by playing tippy-tappy. blackpool, hull, etc have all been forgotten now with their tippy-tappy! this is england - strength over style!

chamotex: The only game we've lost with DDG in goal was the opening game against Everton.
Anders was in goal for the others
and you can pardon him in that game - he made at least 4 world class saves against everton with valencia and carrick in the defence. de gea is the best goalkeeper in the premier league by a distance. hart, cech, reina, szczesny have all dropped huge clangers this season but the media prefer to harass de gea!

the ladies are not any better too - but i like the choice of the cast....stereotypical nigerian faces you get to see everyday not the genevieve/tonto/omotola who carry faces like someone shat in their nostrils!

thegoodjoehunt:
Your own is to argue things you don't understand. Even Omar22 agreed that Germany is playing more possessively now but you are saying there are no changes.
you talk absent wisdom - when have germany ever played without keeping possession of the ball? i think you just started watching your football in the last 5 yrs. go back in the days and watch the german team again.

You are saying, " scolari was at chelsea, how much tiki-taka did he introduce in his disgraceful spell in england?"
Ask Chelsea fans, their problem with Scolari was that he was trying to change them to Brazil. At Chelsea he didn't get the kind of players he worked with and had a short stay. It is like saying Boas is not a good coach because he didn't do well at Chelsea.
at chelsea, his style of football would not work in a league where thei rivals are all about direct football. you cannot try that samba rubbish in england - the fans are all about great clearances, crunchy tackles and running for 90mins. scolari was using the wrong philosophy in the league. there's nothing wrong in the chelsea team scolari worked with - they were champions league finalists 3 months before scolari arrived!

Scolari succeeded with the Brazilian and Portuguese teams because they have skillful players. Not Chelsea at that time with Mechanics as Footballers. Why do you think he wanted Robinho and Quaresma. Why do you think Chelsea went on to buy Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Marin, Moses, Piazon etc. That is skillful players. They know that mechanic football is going out of date.
and what have the skillful players they bought achieved? chelsea had the potential of winning 7 competitons at the start of the season, they have been dumped out of 5 already....with their skillful players!

Chelsea now have more Brazilians than ever ( Piazon, Oscar, Ramires, David Luiz ) ie what Scolari was trying to do but you are criticizing him.
The Kick and Hush football is dying, that is why Mourinho is finding it difficult at Real Madrid.
direct football can never die.....
the last champions league winners played direct football.....jose mourinho won the spanish league last season playing direct football. scolari is shyte - i can write everything scolari knows about football on a grain of rice. because he won a world cup in 2002?

everyone of us on this forum would win a world cup with that brazilian squad - more so, when the only quality sides they played on their way to victory in 2002 were turkey n germany. costa rica, china and belgium are not football superpowers so what's the whole scolari cocksucking habit you have suddenly developed?

naijababe: Shio!!! All these noise over common fai dalas! Oga o !!!
sholly is a student! students are always broke

But just so you know, the show sweet pass sugar!!! The most fantastic part has to be the dialogue, no fake accents and sheesh!!! As soon as Uju opens her mouth, I am cracking up big time.
uju is the razzest - she reminds me of rita(koko mansion)...she's so hilarious. when her phone rang the first time she met the other women was funny. the ringtone of her phone is hilarious!

@ Coogar, the scene where she called Miranda gorimapa was priceless, that babe is beyond redemption grin grin grin
miranda is too full of herself.....she doesn't have hair and she claims to know all the types of weave in the world. that claim is suspicious......i like the fat chief too and the chic that was arranged for otunba....the show is too good!

Shollypopz: It took me quite some time to understand what u meant by "fai dalas", very funny

I thought coogar said it's a dollar for an episode, it's like y'all want me to make more noise. $5 is too much ooooo

.....lol, I thought it's obvious I'm joking
it's cheaper when you buy in bundles.....if you buy per episode then it's $0.99. if you can tell me your real age, i will buy for you as a belated christmas present!

toluxa1: Lol, I have not played football at top level but i'v watched consistently for close to 2 decades now. I repeat there is nothing WORLD CLASS about the pass. It was a good pass, that is all. If you watch Barca game often you'll see once in a while what we call WORLD CLASS passing (comes once in a while).
And you didnt have to explain "required weight" to me, no be yesterday I stay watch ball na.
CohenJane: what are you talking about? he just simply did what is expected of him. there was nothing spectacular about the pass.
if musa had done that "simple" task twice today, nigeria would have won by a big margin. nothing is simple in football. mikel had to put that ball in emenike's path without emenike altering his stride to receive the ball......

have you guys seen enyeama's post-match interview?
he murdered the officials - he said his penalty call was the worst decision he has seen in the history of football. he said with people like that referee, african football cannot move forward.

he's definitely right - nigeria got robbed.
the zambian striker was actually the one holding the defender. that being said, musa shouldn't have started at all. majority of our attacks broke with him miscontrolling the ball.

keshi went with the wrong squad but i still expect him to qualify in that group. our next opponent is the weakest team in the group. if we beat them then 5 points is enough to qualify us from that group!

toluxa1: I agree he did well with the ball but nothing world class about the pass. He just did the right thing, that's all.

#Exaggeration
i doubt you have ever played football at the top level.
what you think is simple is not that simple - the required weight must be applied. if it's less, emenike won't get the ball and if the weight is more, then the ball would run out of play.
Sports › Re: Player Rating - Nigeria Vs Zambia by coogar:
Mikel: His penalty loss was a disaster, but he still had an average game, distributing the passes, although half of the passes didnt reach the destination. His assist got Nigeria the only goal. He also lost possession too easily and guided the ball too much. 5.5
mikel deserves a 7 - should have been 8 if he didn't miss the penalty.
just like the first game, he did very well with the passes whilst his partner in the midfield looked lost. mikel pressed the opponent to pick his opponent's pocket and he pinged a world class pass to emenike for the opening goal. i cannot fault his effort!

musa was the worst player on the pitch.....
his ball control is nothing to write home about - he lacks awareness and his vision is poor. musa has the first touch of a räpist. keshi should have taken him out around the 60th min mark!
