dayokanu:except that torres was doing the same thing for fun at liverpool. if i post his goals @ liverpool here, you would suddenly feel ashamed of what you have written above. are you saying torres has lost the ability to make off-the-ball movements and get into position to score? did you ever see torres for liverpool tearing chelsea a new one? not this chelsea with weak defence - the old chelsea with the strongest defence in england. At Bayern I have seen Gomez do this, LucaToni, Makaay etc but watching Torres doesnt do these thingsdiscuss torres goal against de gea. Then that means that striker doesnt have the poachers instinct. I believe after watching Hernandez several times the moment he passes the ball, he is already making the run into the box. If Hernandez were to be the one who made that pass to Cole, He would have already started moving into the box even if Lampard scores the goal.hernandez wouldn't be in the position torres was when he received the pass from lampard. watch the move again. Lemme ask how goals do Man Utd score and Hernandez is outside the box? Even if he isnt the scorerhe's an out n out scorer - not a false 9(like torres often does at chelsea). hernandez has rooney/berbatov to hold the ball and spread the play. torres doesn't have such @ chelsea. if he operates like hernandez waiting for the final ball that never comes, he gets blamed for being lazy, lethargic and not effecting the play. if he rolls his sleeves and plays deep like rooney does, he would be blamed for not having a striker's instinct. this is playing out like berbatov's criticism in 08/09 and 09/10. after 2 seasons, fergie built the team around berbatov for half a season and he got 20 league goals. If the fault is with Chelsea midfielders how come with Xavi, Iniesta etc the result is still the same?cos the team isn't built around torres @ spain. |
BlueDiva:they don't play to his strengths. . . team isn't build around him and blah blah blah. when he had fabregas behind him in euro 2008(when villa got crocked), he ripped teams apart. he was in the team of the tournament of that same competition after tearing phillip lahm a new butthole in the final. am i supposed to believe the same torres of that era is really shyte? he's not 37 for us to think he's now too old to function. how do you plead, missus bluediva? |
BlueDiva:bluediva, stop following the crowd for once and think. why's torres fearsome for liverpool and he's appeared shyte at chelsea? why did berbatov appear shyte for united in his first 2 seasons but he was golden last season? do you know what it means when you build a team around a star player? do you? |
https://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h477/intermania71/arsen.gif
i have always known arsene to be a slowpoke.you mean he didn't know the pocket he was trying to shove his hand was zipped?
Totts have been FAR better and as much as I hate it, I honestly think they deserve to finish ahead of us. They seem to have gotten over the inability to bury games and that is our Achilles heel. Plus they dont have to parade imbeccyls like Djouru and Squillachi Ramshit should be playing with my balls
i don't really agree with tottenham have been better. . . .this was the 4th game in about 10 games with arsene fielding almost the same squad in all the matches. arsenal were good for the first 30 mins or so but fatigue played a big role in the 2nd half. the f-a should stop this nonsense festive fixtures. other teams in europe are resting and scheming how to outwit english clubs in champions league. english clubs are there killing themselves in bloody slug-fest to fight for points. |
dayokanu:you miss the point massively. the above strikers anticipate runs to put them in the situation and the precise passes come early as well. Do you think aside Adebayor, These are the strikers mostly caught offside?, thats because they always anticipate movesadebayor drifts offside because the passes either come a second late or he mistimes it himself. at least, the passes often come early for him too. i have seen adebayor so many times put one on one with goalkeepers. But Torres wont even be in positions to receive passes because he is somewhere else keeping shape.says who? torres has been at chelsea for a year. . . . .can you show me any time he's been put one on one with the goalkeeper with him fluffing his lines? the only one i can recall was the game against united and he finished excellently. he missed the other chance after rounding de gea. since then, such passes never materialized again. When midfielders play into the box, you would expect the strikers to be in the box to pounce.it depends where the said striker is when the move started. if the striker is involved too deep, you cannot then expect him to initiate moves from deep and expect him to finish off again. Let me use this Lampard goal as an example, The Ruud, Inzaghi, Chicharito would be in the box even if they are not the scorer, But our Torres is somewhere else.torres was the 2nd player to receive the ball, lampard was the first player with the ball. before torres released the ball to cashley, lampard was already @ the edge of the box. torres was too close to cashley on the edge of the box to have received the cross because cashley played a first-time cross. How many times Torres got one on one situation? How would he get them when he doesnt even anticipate these moves? and the few ones he got what did he do with them?watch man utd vs chelsea @ old trafford and compare to chelsea's other games since then. why do people have eyes and not watch football games? |
Andre Uweh:if it wasn't for ronaldo, united wouldn't have won a league title. man utd have missed him a lot. |
dayokanu:they got torres to replace drogba but they have failed to build the team around torres. true or false? torres and drogba are not the same kind of strikers. drogba is a bully - whether the pass arrives early or late, his physicality enables him to sodomize the senderoses or the vermaelens of this world - torres isn't built like that - the passes must be early enough to quickly isolate him with the last man so that he's often put through one v one with goalkeepers. dayokanu, how many times has torres got a one v one situation since he joined chelsea. let's compare him to hernandez in the same period. hernandez thrives in united because he receives those passes early enough to put him one v one. had chicharito joined chelsea, do you think he would have earned a name in the english league with the slow-paced chelsea team? think about this - would inzaghi, ruud, chicharito and most strikers who often sit on the shoulder of the last defender work @ chelsea? |
dayokanu:4-3-3. drogba flanked by mata and sturridge. meireles(lm), romeu(cm), ramirez(rm) Chelsea 1 Tottenham 1 Lampard didnt play a single minute Mata played 90 min4-3-3. drogba flanked by mata and sturridge again. Chelsea 2 man City 1 Mata Played 84 mins, Lampard came in 75min4-3-3. drogba flanked by sturridge and mata for the umpteenth time. however, the beauty of this is sturridge, ramirez and meireles can fit in other positions should matter decide to vacate his role. with lampard, that is not achievable as lampard is a statue who can only play in the central positions. |
is this the point arsenal fans would admit tottenham have been better than arsenal this season? |
mukina2:muki dey vex o. . . . . ![]() muki-muki, don't you just love djourou? ![]() |
buzugee:i am talking nigerian chicken with crazy-tough bones. |
BlueDiva:united should have won every match with a high margin until fergie brain-farted! |
novaman:3 for £5, bro! |
dayokanu:list those games and i would tell you who was operating in the middle. the beauty of this is. . . .when lampard does not play, whoever plays in the middle can swap positions with mata. . . .lampard is useless anywhere else on the pitch apart from a central midfield role. |
goallllllllllllllll zamora scores the winner. |
softelng:anyone comparing uk to nigeira as far as pms is concerned is a complete simpleton! nigeria should be compared to libya. . . |
dayokanu:villas-boas should stop playing mata on the left wing! chei. . . .sidwell scores. senderos n sidwell(2 arsenal rejects) connived to deny arsenal 3 points |
dayokanu:which contradictions? chelsea is unbalanced when they play mata and lampard in the same game. it exposes their defence - ashley cole is beginning to cop the clichy syndrome(which also began since arsenal signed arshavin). mata starts from the left hand side of the attack and he quickly vacates his position to join lampard in the middle. the same kind of problem redknapp had with van der vaart at spurs last season. lampard should rest when mata is playing. mata must play behind torres. |
muami:but their minimum wage takes care of any effect the oil price increase might cause. the dumb comparison should stop. how many nigerians use blackberry phones? you are comparing oil consumption to the usage of gadgets? fecking hell, you are a disgrace! work the ratio of the minimum wage(monthly) in the uk to the price of fuel per litre and then compare it to that of nigeria. with my calculations, a man on minimum wage in nigeria would have expended all his monthly income by buying just 60 litres of petrol. just 60 litres. ![]() |
dayokanu:they did not. . . .torres was flanked by mata and ramirez. lampard played directly behind torres. do you need binoculars to read tactical formation? matter of fact, playing mata on the left is the reason ashley cole is looking vulnerable this season. he gets no protection at all from mata who vacates his position often and join the action in the middle - thus leaving ashley cole exposed to attacks. |
muami:this is idiocy at it's sterling quality. who travels on airplanes? elite? who uses laptops and blackberry phones? the elite. my friend, all nigerians(rich, ugly and poor) would be affected by this subsidy removal of fuel. the ones who don't have cars would buy kerosene for their stoves or use public transport that heavily relies on fuel. some other ones must power their generating plants with this same fuel. oil affects every individual in nigeria regardless of their class. . . . .you cannot say the same for air tickets, sony laptops or rim phones. you should sue your teachers for mismanagement of your mental development. what a troll! |
BlueDiva:play mata behind torres(simple)! |
BlueDiva:it's not an opinion, it's a fact! i criticize you guys as media whores when you glue to the opinion of the media instead of pursuing the facts. so if bbc says blackburn wallop united by 3-2 and i quote it, then i am a media LovePeddler? really? |
BlueDiva:a chip is not a killer-pass, bluediva. you need brain-fuel!!! ![]() bluediva, how are you holding up in nigeria with fuel going to 150 per litre. we need you back in scotland. abeg, start packing your g-m-g bags. |
BlueDiva:what about the passes torres gave lampard and mata - which they both squandered! bbc described the passes as astute and delightful. chicharito would score from both chances and torres would get 2 golden assists. |
Thor:you are very dumb comparing the prices of fuel in the uk to nigeria. even if the price per litre in the uk is 500 naira - it's still affordable to the poorest man in the uk. . . .who makes around 250,000 naira equivalent a month. i don't think nigerians would complain if the minimum wage is 250,000 a month. the minimum wage in nigeria is 18,000 naira. thor, apologize to nigerians for your idiocy and all shall be forgiven! |
BlueDiva:i praised berbatov for his first 2 seasons at man utd before he won the golden boot! there are other contributions apart from scoring and assisting. it's about time you stop analyzing like drunk naija people. a scenario. . . a defender passes the ball to his goalkeeper. . . . .tevez puts pressure on the goalie. goalkeeper was pressured and miskick the ball to david silva. silva passes the ball to dzeko and dzeko scores into an empty net. in your eyes, tevez has contributed nothing? without putting pressure on the keeper or chasing a lost cause, would the goal materialize? how often do you see goalkeepers passing straight to an opponent at the edge of the box? |
nateevs:dayo does not watch english football. all he wants to see are goal-scorers. . . .as long as a player doesn't score - that player performed badly. in dayokanu's eyes, maradona performed woefully against germany in mexico 86. afterall, maradona did not score. BlueDiva:i wouldn't argue with you as you have never played football in your 40 yrs on the planet. i have played footie and i know the difficulty surrounding the pass torres made to find cole on the left channel. that pass alone cut 4 defenders out of the game. . . .the pass obliterated the offside trap wolves were trying to set. . . . whatever cole did with the ball and what lampard did with the delivery is immaterial. jeeez, how do i explain to bluediva what a killer-pass means? it's like explaining to a kitten what einstein's calculus mean ![]() bluediva, there are other tangibles apart from assist and goals. . . . .you have a keypass and a killer pass. |
bbc report: The much-maligned Fernando Torres, back in the side because of injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Didier Drogba, flourished early on and almost teed up goals for both Juan Mata and Lampard. Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey did brilliantly to race out and block Mata's strike after a delightful first-time Torres pass and defender Richard Stearman then did enough to put off Lampard with the midfield poised to shoot home following another astute Torres through-ball. dayokanu, can you read? dayokanu:common sense should have told you he started running into the box as soon as he fed torres the pass. lampard - torres - ashley - lampard. enough seconds had elapsed for lampard to get into the box. . . .torres didn't have that time. lampard had more time to get in the box that torres who fed ashley cole. . . .ashley cole crossed the ball the moment he released it. there's no way torres could have received the same pass seeing that he was the last person to touch the ball before ashley. use your common sense! |
BlueDiva:that's the way a lame man with half-a-brain would see it. . . . . but an astute observer would know torres' pass got the goal. ashley cole just needed to cross(without pressure), lampard must score cos he was all alone to tap into an empty net. it was torres pass that took 4 defenders out of the game. |
dayokanu:what about the killer-pass torres fed lampard and lampard was too slow to get there and wolves goalie just scooped the ball up. i have to say this is one of the best performances of nando torres in a chelsea shirt. he did not hide throughout. he was coming deep to effect the play and he held the ball well for the runners to get a bite. . . . dayokanu, you cannot fault torres today. lampard scored a tap-in in a move initiated by torres. dayokanu:if you think tapping into an empty net is more difficult that the killer pass from torres to take out 4 wolves defenders then you are a simpleton! you know nothing about football. watch the pass again. it's not a key pass - it's a killer pass. the kind of passes that renders defenders useless. no wolves player complained about the goal. . . . .they couldn't fault one another. |
nateevs:did you see the killer pass torres provided to free ashley cole on the left channel? it's the most important and the most difficult move of the passes that led to the 2nd goal. the pass was such a beauty, cole was able to cross without pressure and lampard had the easiest task of tapping into an empty net. |
