I have never in my life seen a greedy people like southwest politicians.

They don't even think. Nonsense.

Let the north have it
They are the cause of the Nigerian civil war. Awolowo greed pushed the naive young army officers to plan d 1966 coup. Now they have started again and God forbid this IPOB activities trigger another civil war, they will divert the attention and fern ignorance. Wicked set of people

ProgrammingRe: Why You Should Probably Drop Out Of A Nigerian Uni And Learn To Code. by Cool85: 8:26pm On May 08, 2022
ReactJs:
After going through this thread https://www.nairaland.com/6572647/thinking-dropping-out-college-focus , I realized that in the coming years, there's still going to be a large % unemployed and ignorant youths. I have never seen a group of people to afraid to take risks and generally pessimistic in my entire life!

How do you people not know that times have changed and even in this country, especially the emerging tech industry in Nigeria, you DO NOT NEED a Bsc to work.

I dropped out of 2 federal universities because i realized very early in my life that there's a difference between schooling and education and that a time will come that society is gonna need actual EDUCATED people. I'll leave you to figure out what it means to be educated cuz it seems like a lot of you guys really think you're educated. You're being Schooled that's why we're where we are as a country. if 60% of the youths are actually educated, Nigeria will probably be a better place.

First uni, I studied biochemistry and 2nd uni i studied zoology. I saw that all of these courses didn't align with the trajectory i envisaged and i took a conscious decision to change my path. it wasn't easy but here i am today.

A friend that didn't even bother going to university at all. He started learning immediately we left sec school in surulere. i recently met him in victoria island and he's a goddamn big boy. A complete senior developer at his workplace.

All of my friends back then in school are doing one thing or the other just to make ends meet and only just a few are doing relatively well. I am not mocking anyone but a lot of you just really need to stop viewing life in binary terms.

Before i got a job, i interviewed with about 3 companies in this Lagos and not one, not a single one made mention or even asked me about a Bsc. I've interviewed with firms in Brooklyn and Amsterdam, they never asked me for a degree. You people really need to wake up o.

I've been an instructor for over a year at a well-known bootcamp in lagos. Majority of my weekend students were bankers, accountants and all other types of people looking to get into the tech ecosystem.

Times have changed and you people better understand this.

ProgrammingRe: My Job Hunting Experiences As A Junior Developer So Far by Cool85: 6:03am On May 07, 2022
TheManOfTheYear:
So yesterday I submitted my task to the Europe based start-up.
I really struggled with the task, especially some features not working from the Redux area.
But I submitted anyway.

The recruiter contacted me today that they received my submission. They are reviewing it, but she told me whatever the feedback is, it would be "actionable".

Meaning if they aren't satisfied, they'd give me feedback so I can complete it based on the feedback.
If they are impressed enough, I'd proceed to a technical interview.

The position is a junior position, and they really committed to training enough juniors for their company.

Now, assuming I get the job, I would undergo a three month probation period. Afterward, a laptop and workstation upgrade would be sent to me. A mentor (a senior colleague) would be assigned to me etc

This is just to give an insight on how most foreign startups welcome a new employee. But like I say, the hurdle lies in getting in.

I've received a total of about 12 rejection mails so far. That's just the way it is, it's usually a game of numbers. Not necessarily merit. That's why your CV and GitHub are extremely important.
They are the first impressions. A one-page CV is ideal, though mine is two-pages.

A GitHub with good activity and solid projects is key too. So I believe.
The first impressions would get you the interviews. Then your expertise and knowledge can take over afterwards. Not the other way around.

I have a writing work to complete. Man must collect small change take hold body for now grin
Hello bro, I am yet to receive your CV sample you promised. This is my email again africanman85op@gmail.com

Ogun kill Dem first.... Ogun kill Dem, kill their generation

How can we give Nigeria to terrorists and cannibals?
Does that even make any sense?

Any other region can stand up for presidency but definitely not IPOB region.

ProgrammingRe: Javascript Resource!!! by Cool85: 2:17am On Apr 26, 2022
jbreezy:
The best way to learn js (or any programming language) is to build projects with what you've learnt...One of the mistakes I made back then was digging through resources (from textbooks to videos), learning syntaxes and terminologies without building, thinking I've known it all...Just for me to realize I indeed Knew nothing...Then to help my situation, I started building small projects with what I've learnt..I started with a Florin Pop's video on youtube (build 10 js projects in 10 hours)...I coded along...built all 10 projects, even though the whole process was quite tedious...But did it help?? It really did!!! Because right now, I can build most js projects (from junior to intermediate) in few minutes...and I mean very few minutes!!! so learn basics, build many projects and be sure to know how each code you write functions...peace!!
Pls I need link to the florin pop video

ProgrammingRe: If You Want To Be A Great Programmer, Stop Asking For Source Codes by Cool85: 8:29pm On Oct 06, 2021
Uncharted56:
Everyone has thier own method of learning but as for me I'll always stick to this rule of "don't reinvent the wheel" and for good reason, because back in the early days of computer you have to build app from the scratch when I mean from the scratch I mean you have to build your own SDK, Framework and all the necessary things needed for an app to run all from the scratch, that is what gave birth to programming languages in the first place else we would be stuck writing machine code. these days people are making it easier for programs to be coded as you don't need to first code your own custom IDE then implementimations, everything is already been done for you, it will be unwise to keep doing things the hard way

One of my mentors in C++ will always say, it's not how good you can write code but how fast.. every code we use was once someone else's great idea it's up to you to make improvements and to be quick about it.

Another thing, having source code is not even the problem at alllll or close to it but being able to update the source code ( I'm
talking depreciated methods, depreciated SDKs, null pointer errors and some certain bugs within) technology is moving faster than people can catch up... I'll stop here for now.
Boss pls let's chat on WhatsApp: 08032655418

SportsOleksandr Usyk Stuns Anthony Joshua With Unanimous Decision To Become Unified He by Cool85(op): 11:24pm On Sep 25, 2021
“This means a lot to me. The fight went exactly the way I expected it to go, there were times when Anthony pushed me hard, but nothing special.

“I had no objective to knock him out. My corner pushed me not to do that.

When asked if he will fight Joshua in a London rematch, he says: “I've been working so hard since January. It took me some half a year. I miss my children and I want to go home. I'm not thinking about the rematch.

“You didn't see the best Usyk. I can be much better.”
