aforosco: Young man why are you quick to judge what you probably don't have much knowledge about. They Have their own channels too like Super sport they have TS Sport.and as for DSTV do you think they go to Europe to beam football matches? No absolute No like EPL now they only tune to SKY Sport that is why you see Sky Sport Mic anytime they are interviewing the players on the pitch or the analysis room during Half Time. SO What makes DSTV superior then.As for the case retail price I think it is very much ok.Buying at 4,400 to sell at 5000. Have you considered how much they buy and sell DSTV decoders ,Do You know you will buy 10 units of 100Naira MTN card at 980 AND they expect you to sell at N1000?They will even send message to ur client to encourage them not to buy from you but to buy from thier banks for convienences and face value if you try to increase your profit margin. To me it is a good brand already. You dont have business sense... Sha dont come here to complain in 12 months time, when TsTV has been dealt with for poor preparation for a boxing bout with DSTV.Mind you, I dislike DSTV with passion, but already have been disappointed by TSTV. Why launch when you are not ready to sell decoders, it shows poor business skills, poor distribution strategy like the other person opined, and basically ill-prepared to take on DSTV. |

Tell me whether it is not working already on the minds of people. And dont think they dont know wat they are doing..by the time TSTV is not gaining momentum, they remove those channels again...lol..you are in for trouble with DSTV, you have allowed them for too long in this market without well-prepared and well-equipped competition. TSTV is no match for them, in terms of financial muscle, in terms of brand and business tactics. They go show TsTV pepper soon. |

share for DSTV If you like give them 1 million likes, its their business tactics and strategy that will determine their survival.Which I rate poorly.if by now most people are still waiting to get their decoders or TsTV haven't tidied up their distribution side of the business,I rest my case. |

9japrof: TSTV made a tactical mistake, they never had their distribution channels in place before launching.
The incentives for distributors is so poor, why would I pay 4.4 million naira to get 1000 decoder kits only to sell for 5000 naira each meaning investing 4.4 million to earn a paltry sum of 600k. They should do better...
TSTV is an amalgamation of channels, nothing special, a lot of channels on their bouquet are channels being picked by 1.8 meter dish users, e.g the beIN sports, MBC series etc.
Real DTH aggregators own their channel series, e.g multichoice( the owners of DSTV) own the supersport channels, buh TSTV own nothing, they own no channel of their own, only gathering free channels and broadcasting to Nigerians .
The Internet feature they are broadcasting to Nigerians cannot be available in all nigerian states(I pray to be wrong on this) startimes have this feature on the combo box which a lot of their users are not even aware of, some are using it presently in Nigeria and I think that feature can only be used in not more than 5 states in Nigeria.
TSTV if not careful would go the way of HITv, the company have launched into the country running at a loss, that's why the branding and hyping to convince Nigerians to buy, if the sales and turnover anticipated is not achieved, either more money is pumped in to sustain the business or the business would be on a downward spiral.
KweseTV that has been there building structures to ensure distribution channels before launching is still way better and would outlive TSTV in the long run.Kwese even went ahead with their commitment to give out free decoders to thousands of dealers.
NB: the kwese brand is owned by strive masiywa, the brain behind econet wireless and TSTV is even broadcasting one of their channels kwese free sport(KFS) on their bouquet asking you to pay for the channel that kwese is broadcasting for free Leave them,I have said it before,TsTV has shown that they don't understand that space even their website looks tacky. I don't see them lasting,at best they'd make DSTV offer better service and rates for a while before they jack it up again. |

Anitop: Are you aware Nigerians watch live epl matches on bein sport as distributed by ctl? Why not, there are usually 10 matches every weekend and some are topofthebill while others are others.bein sport cannot I repeat bein sport cannot televise top of the bill epl matches in Nigeria cos only DSTV has the right. The day they try it,yawa go gaz!An example is the next weekend of matches-Liverpool v Man Utd can only be shown live by DSTV in Nigeria.bein sports can show other small ticket games. |

DSTV have made their money multiple times and all they need do is price war to send you packing to one side. When startimes came and started making noise what did they do,they simply introduced a similar product to compete with Startimes and called it GoTV.Many people didn't even know initially that it was still DSTV.Watch what they'd do with TsTV. Eaa247: the real competition nd price war will start. if DSTV lowers their sub u tink TSTV will not do same or introduce packages to get more customers? That's where you are a novice in business.TSTV already have a minimum pricing level they cannot go below to break-even,meanwhile DSTV has milked Nigerians well enough to even crash their rates to zero kobo for only 6 months and send TSTV packing. Then reintroduce high rates again.TSTV don't have such war chest cos they are new. |

Tho I wasn't happy that they didn't share free decoders like some mumuu bloggers reported. So many Nollywood stars were there. I saw the thing live and trust me it's over for DSTV. sisimmi: I was @ the launch @ Sheraton, Abuja. The crowd was impressive. Event was well organized. They promised all that we already know. The MD added that they have signed an MOU with MainOne to retail their data as part of the package and that the 20GB at first subscription is complementary. It got a lot on tongues wagging. If they can deliver data on the cheap, then it's goodbye to DSThievy! From the frenzy and ecstasy I felt in that hall today, DSTV obviously has a lot of dissatisfied customers in Nigeria who really yearn for something better; something more exciting. I was thinking that TSTV would give us a pinhole view of their offering in real time today. Alas, they presented multimedia clips with voice-over kinda adverts about their mission. And when Lai Mohammed unveiled the decoder, it was a huge dummy decoder. Nothing to feel or see. Perhaps they are still tweaking the real deal. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Thumbs up to them though. All these gig,gb,data everywhere.is it an Internet service provider or what cos clearly these guys ain't ready for paytv.if on the launching day they're still fine tuning here and there, then I give them 2 years. |

damilarea2: TSTV has done a good market research and come out with product differentiation which will give them competitive advantage over DSTV. For example ...Do you know how much that extra 20GB or 10GB will cost in Naira value. For DSTV to beat this , they will have to introduce new decoder with WiFi inbuilt and also mount other infrastructures to support data package.
Not only that, TSTV decoder has inbuilt app that you can check facebook , Youtube, Twitter etc from your TV screen. Lot of advantages will come up with it. All I see you mention here is data,Facebook, etc,I laugh in Spanish. So why not jejeli call it an internet service provider... It is a good development that another company is trying to give Nigerians a viable alternative to satellite television, it is a welcome development.
However I hope they have very unique service offerings that DSTV will not be able to match, cos if they're trying to compete based on pricing then they are on a long thing. Ask me why... Very simple - DSTV will just start offering cheaper services and similar features, that way millions of customers will rather continue with DSTV and before you know it,TSTV is dead. #customers win! It's called price war! I hope TSTV is prepared for this,if not, then I say bye bye to TSTV before they even start. |
