I read with dismay the attack on the moniker; Tonyebarcanista on how he tried to correct the Biafran agitators to stop revising history by claiming PortHarcourt as Igweocha. The attack on that monker was legendary and the insult was second to none. These are my hypothesis on the average Igbo mentality I've observed for about some years now:
(1) Unless you enter a deal with your neighbor, do not assume his sympathy or friendship with you mean he will lay his neck for you. Blaming him when he has exhaust his own limit should never be termed backstabbing or sabotaging. Define boundaries before blackmailing anyone. Because you help a lady get an appointment does not mean she must marry you; separate deals must be entered.
(2) Seems that Igbo's are too emotional to form a stable society. Its obvious that Igbo's mostly are sensational and bear grudges way too easily. They need to outgrow that folly.
(3)Igbo's seems not to wanna learn how to deal with people. Diplomacy is alien to most comments I've read from most of you guys. That's a gross weakness which has caused severe backlash from the communities they reside in. From all indications, its a gross weakness that they need to work on immensely.
(4) Igbo's are a hateful bunch when you don't share their views. It was at the height of campaign for the 2015 General Election that most Igbo's showed their hates to Yoruba's because they do support GEJ. To suddenly hate Yoruba's because of GEJ shows the myopia of the highest order from a tribe that was perceived noble. Unless they outgrow the childish tendency of -a kid who prayed that his father looses his job because he did not buy him his toy- they will forever be viewed badly. It was even such that Tonyebarcanista is facing.
(5) Igbo's are too clannish to survive politically in the 21st century unless they adjust. Most Igbo's are highly suspicious of others so much that if you catch one of them stealing and you arrest such, they will raise a dust that you are persecuting their brother and their tribe. They might call this loyalty, but I see gross folly in that stance. Men should always be loyal to the truth than their tribe or clan. Unless Igbo's address this view, their Biafra will be a state of Hobbesian.
(6) Igbo's love picking fights. First it was the Hausa/Fulani (39% of Nigeria) because they felt Boko was used against their candidate, GEJ. But since PMB was sworn in, Boko have not stopped; hence, we can say their assertions was wrong. Next, it was the Yoruba's (21% of Nigeria) because most of them do not want GEJ again. The hate was even promoted massively on their Radio Biafra. Now, its the turn of Ijaw (10% of Nigeria). These shows one clear thing; Igbo's are the ones who hate others when their expectations are not met and no one hates Igbo's till he shows hate to them.


I hope in the next 50years, Igbo's (Biafra or not) would have outgrown this their sensational, illogical and emotional hate on others. Only that can help them.

There is no solution to this malaise....just let these evil depart from us.....

As an urhobo man from delta state. I have seen alot to know that the selfish yorubas want the igbos to back down so that they can continue their stranglehood of the minorities. Apart from the fact that the south south feeds the nigerians (ie yoruba and hausa) freely, the yoruba and hausa have remained begarly elements by refusing to take initiatives to fend for themselves even 50 years of spoon feeding them.

The yoruba man ideally has no respect for the minorities of the south south. If You live among them you will understand that if you don't speak yoruba language they automatically call you igbo. Meaning they don't recognise any ikwerre, itselkiri, ijaw, Efik or urhobo. The average yoruba man sees Nigeria as tripod - ibo, yoruba and hausa. It is going to be more deadly to live with people with such mentality who don't even recognize you but see you as inferior sub-cultures.

Come to think of it, the ijaws are the only tribes in the south south that look beyond their nose, and point finger to the devils eyes anyday warning it. The igbos have just begun a noble cause that the south south needs to unite with them for that's their only road to deliverance from the parasitic relationship with nigeria(ie yoruba and hausa).

The igbos are the only tribe in Nigeria that reasons and view things in thesame way a south south person views it. We have thesame sense of judgement and would make a better collabo than our current parasitic marriage to the almajiris and their half brothers.

When Yar Adua was sick in 2010 and GEJ was VP the most vocal group who ensured Jonathan was made President were the Yoruba. During these period most Igbos were silent and dumb.

The Save Nigeria Group founded by Pastor Tunde Bakare and Sahara reporters prevented Jonathan from being impeached and making way for David Mark to becoming d president.
We cant 4get the massive support Prof Wole Soyinka gave to save nigeria group protest and impact of other south west media houses like punch, tribune and the nations to the struggle to prevent Jonathan Impeachment and ensuring that Jonathan became president.

In 2011 elections, the whole South(SW,SS and SE) and middle belt gave Jonathan block vote. South west gave jonathan more than 70% of their vote in 2011.
South south did d same. South east did d same. North central gave Jonathan more than 60% of the vote.

The only thing some south east states did which south west states and North Central stares did not do was to Inflate the voters turn out which card readers prevented in 2015 election. The truth was dat the inflation of vote by some south east states in 2011 was completely unneccessary because Jonathan would have won without it. Jonathan won some states like Taraba and Adamawa in North east in 2011.

We cant forget the impact of Pastor Enoch Adeboye laying of hands on Jonathan in 2011 redeem camp on 2011 Jonathan election among christians all over Nigeria.

We cant 4get the role of Gen Olusegun Obasanjo in ensuring that Jonathan was made Acting President. Who beimg the Chairman of PDP board of trustee ask Yar Adua to resign for Jonathan to become president. We cant 4get d Insult obasanjo got from Arewa for that statements. We cant 4get how Obasanjo prevent former VP Atiku abubarkar from hijacking PDP and getting the PDP ticket in 2011

So igbo never made Jonathan President in 2011. The only tin Igbo did was to destroy Jonathan presidemcy between 2011 and 2015.
Igbo people like Stella Oduah destroyed d image of Jonathan Govt. Igbo people hijack Jonathan govt preventing him from achieving what he needed to achieve. Pius Ayim Pius brought high level Nepotism to Nigeria Federal civil service.

As far as i an concern it was President Jonathan who did Igbo big favour by giving them a loud voice in Nigeria national politics. You igbo should be grateful to Jonathan not d other way around.

The only time you stood alone with Jonathan was 2015 election which Jonathan lost. You stood with him for your own good because of what he had done for you politically.

Even today that Jonathan is no more the president of Nigeria, the only Governor who has made defending Jonathan legacy his primary assignment is a Yoruba Governor. Governor Fayose of Ekiti. No igbo PDP governor defend Jonathan today like Fayose do.

Today, they want to re-write history with fake propanganda just because of 2015 election.
What make me sick is the way they make it look like south south owe them when actually they are the one owing south south for giving them voice through Jonathan.

My greetings to all.

I initially announced my retirement from nairaland and actually stayed away from this site for weeks to have some peace of mind. Recently, I started reading topics on nairaland as a guest and discovered that IPOB nuisance is getting out of hand.

I have decided to return because I can no longer keep quiet while some misguided elements continue to paint the Igbos in negative light; no thanks to the myopic Kanu Nnamdi.

This is just to announce that I am back and nairaland will read much more from me.

I have also discovered that the MODs have not been doing enough to help check IPOB nuisance on nairaland, reasonable threads created by intelligent Igbos like Lygn19/Abagworo are never sent to the front page. A lot of this happened to me too before I retired.
