AkinDS: This is too funny - una go wait taya! Someone just played all minutes for Nigeria in the most difficult world cup and performed exceptionably well. More than held her own. This was her very first senior national competition and she was rock solid. Against 3 teams ranked as top ten (10) women teams in world football.
Yet, someone here is trying to tell us that this neophyte playing in D2 of the French league is better than her? I mean, seriously? Why do Nigerians like to continuously delude ourselves?
There is a reason why the girl is playing in the French D2, She is not good enough! Pure and simple! let us know when she is able to hold her own in a competitive league. Until then, abeg, make man see road, pls! I expected better from you. That Demehin played at the World cup and the French First division, does not necessarily mean she's better than the other player. |

BascoVanVeli: We heard the same story from u guys last season but she ended up as the team’s leading scorer. This is a preseason match we are talking about. You always rush to defend her. Does it mean everyone else notices this weakness of hers but you? Could it be that they all are just hating on her? |

Deltamani: If she da score like 60% of those good Chances I don’t think i would Complain sef… This miss was just too much The truth is that Oshoala is not a reliable striker, this is really painful to acknowledge- especially at this time of her career, and it's the reason Barca never trusts her to be a starter. I've often opined that her pace gives her a lot of edge, it's a major reason she gets lots of chances. Also, being on a team like Barca helps her to get those chances a lot. Now, her conversion rate leaves a lot to be desired. If she could just convert 60 percent of those chances, she would just have reached her potentials. |

aQUINandmore: ignorance, I know you will talk about four zeros
How do you want to compare the currencies then, what you fail to understand is if you consider the nominal value, cedis beat naira and if you consider real value cedis beats naira again, that is to say, 2 cedis can buy weed of four ties, 3 cedis can buy half bag of pure water, 2 cedis can do a lot in Ghana, what can its equivalent do in Nigeria? What can 120 naira afford in present day Nigeria?
The Ghanian cedis is the best, strongest and most stable currency in west Africa.
Abeg travel and see. Your ignorance is killing you, I swear! |

Ngozi Okobi simply lacks class. Imagine comparing herself to Payne who is way above her in footballing ability. Has she forgotten how she and Rita Chikwelu used to mess our midfield up? She will most probably come out tomorrow to deny making those utterances. Anyway, her national team career is over, as more players have come in/ are coming in. |

BankyGee: As far as this tournament is concerned, our team is one of the most defensively drilled and disciplined squad. Their inside and outside box defending is just refreshing to watch. We avoided unnecessary penalty calls despite the inside-the-box threats we got from the Aussies and we all know any small wrong touch from an African player on a white will mostly lead to senseléss penalties. Our coach dey do work, no cap 🧢

Jojodjo: So i should not call a spade a spade? I never said Ajibade was not a good footballer, I said she's not done well in recent times for the GWG which is but the fact but that does not mean she's a bad footballer. Oga even if it's Mbappe that has had few bad games irrespective of his status, i'll still say the same.
Talking about a player's bad form is no disrespect.
On her form and Caicedo's, i'll say no more. The pitch would do the talking for both of them. Come on, you guys went beyond critiquing. What do you mean when you say Caicedo is better than Ajibade? If that is not disrespect, I wonder what else you think it is. On a serious note, what has Caicedo achieved yet in the world of female football? What is her statistics like... Could you roll it out along side Ajibade's? I was expecting that the logical thing would be making that remark when comparing Caicedo to the like of Sebastine, Ajakaiye and co, but no, you guys went too far! |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by CoolJulian: 5:24pm On Jul 27, 2023 |
Jojodjo: Ajibade was not decent in past matches, that's the fact. But she impressed this time and that's what we want to see. Again, don't compare Ajibade to Caicedo. Bro please, stop! Don't disrespect Ajibade like that. Though I disagree with most of that guy's opinions, I would not want anyone to bring Ajibade so low. So you know, Ajibade is one of the VERY BEST players on the Super Falcons team, she's hardly ineffective for the Super Falcons - A player who also plays multiple roles for the team. If I may ask, did you watch the last AWCON? Who was our best player? How many games has Ajibade played where she was poor for the Super Falcons? You think any kind of player can stay on the Athletico Madrid team, commanding starting shirts? On comparing her with Caicedo, in my opinion, whatever Caicedo can offer, Ajibade offers more. Compare their statistics and let me know. Ajibade's major weakness is decision making, which I know she'll improve upon cos she's still young. Finally, Ajibade can fit into any world class team and command decent game time. |

You make emphasis on speed; what's pace without technicality?
No disrespect but I take it that you spew things that aren't valid or you probably have a different view from what's glaring as the truth.
If it's intentional, fine but if it's not you'd need to rethink your points.
Lastly, in recent time, it's an error to compare Ajibade to Caicedo..... Those guys are really stubborn. Sometimes I wonder if they really understand football. |

lovewins: You guys need to tone down on the incessant call for Sebastien, Onyenezide and Ajakaye to be included in the Super Falcons. You don't know how ridiculous it's beginning to sound.
Due to our emotional attachments, we sometimes hype players beyond their current capabilities. Don't get me wrong I believe they have great potentials, but that doesn't necessarily translate into their present reality. Also, age grade competition doesn't mean you can now compete with pros.
Ajakaye for instance was highest goal scorer in the qualifiers in our Zone. When she got to the world stage, she had just one goal and one assist at the u17 level.
Flourish Sebastien is a great talent, but had just 1 goal and zero assist at the u20 level. Same Flourish didn't even start for Bayelsa United at the CAF women's Champion's league had zero goals and suddenly she's better than super falcons players? . Both Flourish and Ajakaye play in the NWFL. How many goals did they have last season? If we had a NWFL team of the season, will they even make the list?
We traditionally take players from the u17/u20 to join the Super falcons campaign to the world cup for many years. This year wasn't any different. We have 3 players from the 2022 u20 squad in the team and 2 of them started the last game. To show how good and improved they are, all of them are no longer in Nigeria. One is playing D1 college football in the US and the other 2 are pros in France.
Let's allow these girls to grow and support them while doing it. If I were Sebastian and Ajakaye, I'll take the Deborah Abiodun route. Get a D1 college team in the US and grow from there. Don't let us hurry these girls before their time. It's how Nwakali got hurried into the super eagles and he's been shut out since then. Let's allow them grow. This is exactly what I've been wondering. How they hype players who played at age grade competitions to the extent of rating them above experienced, talented and exposed players is beyond my comprehension. I think we should pray they get signed by quality clubs in Europe or America cos those young players are really talented but very raw and unexposed. |

yinkeys: Japan are one time world champions They also lost their best player/captain it seems This 1st outing is just for exposure Japan beat us recently too During the friendly that they beat us, we were without key players, yet they needed two wrong calls to score 2 against us. As for me, that game ended 1 nill. Besides, Grace Chanda is not Zambia's best player. |

AkinDS: Again, its about perspective. My point is based on having watched her last 5 games with the Super Falcons, her passing efficiency, especially with her long balls (or up-field punts), have been hit or miss (actually, more 'miss' than 'hit'). Stats wise, her long pass turnover rate has been extremely high.
And she has been doing this a lot lately - even at club level. I totally agree with you on this. I noticed this long before now |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by CoolJulian: 8:57pm On Jul 15, 2023 |
AkinDS: Monday is still a newbie, having just completed her first year in Spain and only became a regular started prior to the end of the season - last 6 or so games. Onumonu is a veteran of the NWSL and so brings that high level of experience to the table. It makes sense to me that Onumonu would start, and then bring in Monday to finish the job. Front 3, baring injury, will LIKELY be Onumonu, Oshoala and Okoronkwo Point of correction - Monday did not only become a starter towards the end of the season. She started far more games than you mentioned. I am particularly impressed with the way she fit into the Spanish League after moving straight from the NWFL. She's a special player who should not be underrated. However, I agree that Onumonu is much more experienced than her and may be chosen to start. |
