BascoVanVeli: I think the real problem is playing out of the back. Learning to do that comes with growing pains. They are normally used to clearing the ball on sight. Also it was inexcusable to not invite Christy Ucheibe. Not only is she the best DMF available since Ayinde got injured, she is used to the type of game he is trying to implement. She even knows most of the Portuguese players personally and would have given us a better understanding.
Plus we were tactically off. We should have given them the ball and caught them on the counter attack. Trying to out-posses them backfired. Look how many people were behind the ball on the first goal. I hope we don't try that against USA. This Christy Ucheibe wey una just dey hype anyhow... Hope she turns good whenever she comes around. TheSuperNerd: No much talk you say but you went on to drop a half-epistle on why you just dont rate or like Ogbonna.
No one is terming her world class or anything but saying she is entirely terrible is 100% incorrect.
I remember her debut for the Super Falcons back in 2018 at the Wafu Women's Cup. Former coach Thomas Dennerby termed her his most outstanding performer at the tournament. So you want to tell me you know much better than Thomas Dennerby who took her to the 2018 AWCON and won the title?? Really?? I laugh.
See ehn, go back and watch her at the Wafu Women's Cup too and see why Dennerby singled her out for special praise.
Note, I won't start her in my first XI in the presence of better options but she is decent enough and you are wrong in your entire assessment of her. That's for sure.
This pic below is her winning one of the MOTM awards at the Wafu Women's Cup back in 2018.
Una just dey talk down Ogbonna because she no fine like Zogg.... But you go soft on Zogg because she is a beauty. Well done oooo... Bias Utd. You really like this girl o! For you to keep defending her. She is not a Super falcons material, simple! Fine or no fine! This, I have observed over time. Even after mentioning her several weaknesses, but you still think they're being biased? You made mention of wafu cup. That competition was wack, bro, it lacked real quality I was not impressed with the Nigerian team either, even though they won. And... What, exactly, did she do there?.. And at 2018 AWCON, what was her responsibility? |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by CoolJulian: 10:26pm On Jun 14, 2021 |
AkinDS: Thanks for your feedback. The fact of the matter is that Ogbonna has been in the SF setup for a long time. You expect people like that to have learnt a thing or two about intelligent play. She is slow on the ball and makes comical errors that are not acceptable from 'veterans' of the team - and that is why she is ripped into. Just like I did with Ordega, Chikwelu and Okeke. The fact that she didn't concede a penalty yesterday does not negate her poor judgement and unnecessary dilly-dallying on the ball. Her decision making skills are mediocre and frankly, she is not good enough at this level. And my comments are predicated on not just these summer series, but go back to the Antalya games she played earlier this year. On Zoog, yes, she made a mistake BUT you could see she was trying to make a pass over the oncoming player and badly misplayed the ball. Bummer. If she had pulled off the pass, it would have been an intelligent play. I will excuse her error because this was only her second game with the team. The same cannot be said about Ogbonna. On Okeke, sound performer? I guess that's why she is a benchwarmer at CFF Madrid, right? Yes, we saw the same game but from different perspectives. I was fortunate to see the general movements of all players on the field, on and off the ball - something that is next to impossible if I had watched it on TV. Boss, I totally agree with you. Everything you pointed out is all I have noticed myself. |

PDPGuy: Whatever happened to Igbinovia? I thought she was one of the potential heirs to Ayinde’s position. We really need quality options in the DM and CM positions, because at this rate, I’m not sure whether Chikwelu will cut it for us at the 2023 World Cup (kinda the same situation with Ebi).
Anyway, I must commend the NFF for organizing at least 9 friendlies (including the September invitational tournament) in a SINGLE calendar year for the Super Falcons. I don’t think even the SE have had to play up to 4 friendlies in a year (except for WC years). The Glass House shouldn’t relent but do more of the same next year. I've been wondering about Igbinovia too. She used to be a delight watching. I guess she's not progressing well, also, considering the fact that she's not been lucky to tie a deal with a good foreign club since after her youth football days. You know the local league is no more what it used to be. |

TheSuperNerd: My Summary takes: Super Falcons at the US Summer Series
Rasheedat Ajibade and Michelle Alozie (despite her defensive struggles at times) were clearly our best performers yesterday vs Portugal.
Ajibade's vision were really on show yesterday. She got defence splitting killer passes in her legs mehn! Her talent has never been in doubt from my end. She just needs to step up more in decision-making because she has the talents to become a really consistent game changer and decided. A good ball carrier, has good technical ability, eye for the killer pass, etc. She can be a bigger star than she is now.
Alozie is a fighter and that is what I want all our girls to always show. That fighting never-say-die-even-if-I-am-playing-out-of-position attitude. Girl is a warrior. A real workhorse and her ability on the ball is really tops.
And hey, Schemerkhiz, Good job keeping this thread going even before this summer series began.
Biko no one seem to give a performance mention to the Lass that replaced Oshoala. Ikechukwu Vivian. Mehn, I actually liked her contribution when she came on. The Rivers Angels babe got some nice moves on the ball and is a real presser. She kept the Portuguese defence busy with her powerful surges into danger areas and ability on the ball.
Onyinyechi Salome Zogg AKA Finest Babe in the Super Falcons or New Beauty Queen of the Team (We still got Patricia George Del Carmen too) is a fine defensive talent and was really good vs Jamaica. She caused the third goal vs Portugal having just come on but she didn't put a foot wrong from that point on. Another fine addition. Can't wait for Ashley Plumptre of Leicester City Ladies to join in and give us really good CB cover where we have Ebi and Ohale as first choice CB pairing.
Chidinma Okeke.... I love this girl especially after her U-20 displays and WC displays in 2019 from RB but seeing her at CB is an Eye sore. Abeg tell Randy to never ever play Okeke at CB again!!!! Abeg!!!! There was too much to complain about from the Portugal game as regards Okeke aside the own goal. Lord in heaven! Never again at CB pleaseeeeeee
Esther Ijeoma Okoronkwo.... This girl is a baller. A real baller. She just didn't get on the ball enough when she came in but we all saw her excellent work against the Reggae Girlz. Damn! Fast, skillful, powerful, good dangerous crosser... Just how I love my wingers. Another fine addition. Honestly, Schemerkhiz, you guys in the crew are doing some very fine Scouting work with Naija Dual-nat college girls in the US. Keep it up.
Francesca Ordega.... One of my favorite all time Super Falcons wingers but I got this to say. Apart from the brilliant move, body feint and pass to release Ajibade for our second goal moment, Ordega was really a liability on the pitch. VERY UNLIKE HER!!! She needs to get her form and fitness back up as soon as possible because the Ordega at this summer series is a real shadow of herself. But it's not hard to tell why. She hasn't been playing in recent times. Just joined Levante and have only come off the bench a few times for cameos. I hope that changes with time. We need the Tournament-deciding Version of Ordega back.
Meanwhile, we need midfielders abeg. I cannot believe we are having the same issues with the Super Falcons like we do with the Super Eagles. I speak of The problem of Midfield Depth.
Looks like when we don't have Halimatu Ayinde we look thin and lightweight in the middle. I understand she is injured now and honestly, having Rita Chikwelu play DM has its merits and demerits even though I know this is where she plays for Madrid CFF in the Primeira Iberdrola.
We need more midfield talents. I trust the crew is working on that.
Toni Oyedupe Payne..... From the Alanya Cup Tourney where she made her debut for us, she has really shown she belongs in the First XI of our team. Honestly, I would be really keen to see how Randy handles the situation of having both Okobi and Payne in the team as AMs. Two highly gifted Attacking midfield ballers. Mehn... This depth sweet me. But if we are to play one, who would start? #Selah
Asisat Oshoala and Onome Ebi... If both had not picked up knocks and had stayed on the pitch to the end, we would have won. I am 100% sure of this. But as you know, flying in and arriving so close to a game was always gonna take its toll. They are humans first before being Professional ballers. I like the obvious influence on our game that just the two of them brought to the side. Jamaica were lucky not to have faced an Oshoala-Ebi-Inspired team. Godspeed to them both as they recover.
Tochukwu Oluehi.... A good shot stopper but a somewhat poor game reader. She gets off her lines far too much and too easily. Sometimes it pays off, other times it doesn't. Like one instance, in the first half, there was no need for her to come for the ball when she saw Ebi had it covered and was sure to deal with it. That almost resulted in another Goal for Portugal.
Her organization of her defence was also not so good. Chiamaka Nnadozie trumps her in this area as Chiamaka has great command of her area. Unafraid to organize those in front of her. I miss Chiamaka at this series.
Oluehi did pull off some saves though but like I already, that's because she is naturally a good shot stopper since her U-20 days back in 2006.
Glory Ogbonna.... Decent performance. Good left foot. Decent stand in for Ebere Ngozi. I believe Ebere Ngozi remains our best Left back.
Ifeoma Onumonu... Another US Based lass. Plays pro football for Gotham City in the NWSL. Played uptop alongside Oshoala and did get into a few good positions especially on the right side of the box. I think she was decent but she didn't get enough chances to have a crack at goal. She's 27 though. No kid.
Others:
Would have loved to see more of Monday Gift but her cameo vs Portugal played a part in the last minute Equalising goal. She pressed and quickly intercepted the ball off a poor Portuguese player's pass and fed Toni Payne who delivered the perfect low cross into Ajibade's path for the goal.
Toni Payne's younger sister, Nicole S. Payne is a defender and I think she did just about enough when she came on to keep our Defensive shape in the last few moments. Wanna see more of her too with time. Nice summary, but I totally disagree on Glory Ogbonna. |

Really interesting game... For me, Alozie and Ajibade were the best players. Neither was perfect though, for instance, Alozie could have done better while "defending", but she still scores very high from me seeing that she is not a defender- had me stunned . Ajibade... She also played very well in the first match, which clearly shows the influence her big club is having on her despite not being a "starter" for them. However, she'd do better by working on her decision making.
Ordega's display only proved that she's not fit. She's been playing sparingly at her club. I'm surprised no one talked about the midfield... Payne is still a playmaker! After the initial struggle, she, just like the others, raised her game. As soon as we stopped making those silly mistakes, we bossed the game. For me the midfielders and forwards impressed the most. Oshoala and Ebi's influence showed in this match, went a long way. Truthfully, the coach is not doing badly. |

AkinDS: Don't trust Okeke either - her decision making was rather poor against the Jamaicans and she no get speed. I would rather have Nicole Payne there. She get pace and often plays as a left back for WVU. May be a baptism of fire for her, but she seems confident when she came in as rightback on Thursday.
BTW, any word on Tosin Demehin? Her ankle twist looked bad when it happened during the game. Hope she is better and still able to play. As for Okeke, it's clear she has not learned much despite playing for Madrid for sometime now. Little wonder she is always on the bench, she needs to improve massively. Rita Chikwelu is another player who's been disappointing. Despite all her experience, she completely fails to impress at times. She's even too lethargic for my liking, I guess her days are numbered. Central midfield position, it seems, is going to cause a lot of headache, as I see no player who can play to Ayinde's strength, especially with the homebased being so disappointing. Old Chikwelu, too, seems not to have a replacement... As for Portugal game, if a serious change is not made to that defense, a disaster is waiting to happen. |

AkinDS: I don't think Okobi can hold a candle to Payne...She is not in Payne's class. The problem I see is trying to replace an aging Chikwelu (slow and getting old) and Halimat (torn ACL, as you stated). We need to start looking for credible replacements for both players. Chikwelu kept getting dominated in the midfield by the white Jamaican girl. She really made Rita look old and outdated on Thursday. You are definitely right on this. Payne has a much better ability to influence a match than Okobi- Fact. Infact, she is better in a lot of ways. One would expect that, since after 2015 world cup to this time Okobi would have greatly improved, but that does not seem to be the case. At club level, she is not even a regular. Is it at Payne's club she could have tied down a permanent spot? Payne, on the other hand, is 'everything' for her club. I really like Okobi, because of the potentials she used to display, but, at this point I am a bit disappointed. |

AkinDS: Hi, everyone. Was in the stadium on Thursday and the only two HB players worth mentioning were Vivian Ikechukwu and Tosin Demehin. The others were terrible. Okeke is not good enough. She made far too many mistakes and simply is not smart enough to play on the back line. For a 19 yr old playing her first ever international match, I think Demehin played very well - I actually focused on her in particular, as well as Zogg.
BTW, thanks for your intel, Schemerkhiz. How is Demehin doing? Looks like she twisted her ankle in the second half and had to leave. And is Oshoala and Ebi in camp now? Actually, all the home based are 'crude'. That Demehin and Ikechukwu were slightly better, does not exempt them. It simply exposes the state of things at the local league. |

I didn't see oshoala, was she not with the team? The coach needs to do more. Let's see our next matches. NB the Jamaicans defended well. Did Uchenna Kanu play? |

All those home based players were very annoying. They have no business with this team... What's up with Ariyo na? I was expecting her to turn out good... I did not watch when she played... Why was she hauled off?... Was her performance bad?
When I first watched Payne play for the falcons, I commented that she would displace whoever had been playing that position of hers, and some people almost insulted me. I guess they do not see the need for the team's improvement. Payne played the best for me.
Those new girls really impressed me, especially Okoronkwo, Alozie ( where were these two gotten from?), Onumonu is good too. I wonder why she did not start, Zogg is a quality player too, I liked Ajibade's energy, but her decision making wasn't the best.
What happened to Chikwelu? - i never watched while she was playing... I guess age has caught up on her, Oredga, on her part, was unusually quiet -i can't really judge...
I can only conclude that the coach did not really start the best players. He should forget those home players, especially in the next match o! It seems that after the tournament, some players will lose their positions. |

You humans can be very greedy and wicked. When you needed hand to lift up from your situation and later you become greedy and disloyal. For me, it's good he didn't introduce you to any connection. frog12: I would not do it to another but I would not place myself in the same position. some of these people play games !!
they both agree but I think his friend was reluctant to say yes, but couldn't disappoint. so his only option was to go dark and come up with excuses later.
So don't put people in this situation again. if he or she is not your family, don't tell people to allow you to stay.
btw, what's your business if he is living fake live on social media ?
if you don't understand, let me give you a simpler example. suppose you have N2000 naira with you, and your friend want's you to share. you have other obligations, and if you dash am part of the money, you no go fit pay the rent. So you agree, but when friend come for money, you disappear. it's the same analogy. it means you are being greedy.
btw, what's your business if he is living fake live on social media ? Why promise to do what you cannot do in the first place? Is there a crime in explaining the situation you're in, and therefore the reasons you cannot offer them help at a particular point in time?... This, I'd really like to know. Now, between revealing your situation - reason as to why you can't help out, and making false promises which you know quite well that they'd never materialize, which is right?... In my opinion, any one who would take the second option (especially with a view to vanish at the very end... What!! Really??), is a very wicked, insensitive, cheap, untrustworthy person, one who needs to be avoided at all costs. Also, there's nothing wrong in asking anyone for a favor, but due to experience/stories I've heard, I do not, even when they make promises ( Infact, i was brought up this way). I only expect that others would be more careful. Finally, I highlighted the fact that he may be living fake life on social media because that is most probably the reason OP fell for this disposition of his. |

Though I feel that, that guy is one of these people living very fake life on social media, he is a very wicked person, and there is nothing special about that, because there are plenty people like that all over this country, and that is why, in this life, I do not trust anybody who is not a family member, no matter how close we happen to be...
