We cannot celebrate buildings over success in building people.
Well... maybe they have more in terms of big church buildings and schools to be proud about than the character in the people they have built And maybe that is why we have the country which we now have today.
The emphasis shifted from building a special kind of people, to building organisations with people that have cars, big buildings for crowds, etc, etc during the time of Late Idahosa.
I remember that around that time, pastors got inspired to say "My God is not poor".
Today, I reply them and say "Don't attempt to smear my God with your personal insecurities" |

Sirjamo: I have traveled all the 19 northern States, I only saw just one of the almajiri schools this one always talked about every two minutes, even that one was just a small structure, no teachers, no desks, no books, nothing, just a building. I would not be surprised if they just used it to steal as usual. The northerners seemed to kick against it inwardly. By the time they were established, the seeds of hate that were being sown around the time they were being built began to both take root and bear fruit, it would seem You know there would have been some (no, many) who believed it was a ploy to erode Islamic ways from their society. Coming from a non-muslim president, that propaganda would be easier to spread amongst them. So, they naturally (and unfortunately too) kick against western education. Politicians against GEJ were already sowing the seeds of hate amongst their people. They easily went back to their former kind of Alimajiri education once GEJ left (what I think happened) And this, even though it is a system where the instructors (who understand English) feel okay enforcing the "only Arabic" policy on kids, who grow up handicapped within today's Nigeria as they end up illiterates - people that cannot read and write - in the English language. |

Even though some South-South people will be happy because they are PDP and have anything against Buhari or APC...
But let's call a spade a spade you don't talk to an elder like that irrespective of the region or political affiliations. Rivers people are not igbo people and the riverine people of rivers state do not speak anyhow to their elders but the strangest ingredient in this your post is your reference to Rotimi Amaechi as an elder. Even though moral and leadership standards have significantly been eroded, it has not gotten to that bad stage where Rotimi Amaechi will get regarded as an elder within our state. |

Politics › Why I Believe Buhari Never Wrote That Exam by coolscott(op): 7:51pm On Nov 06, 2018 |
Back in the day, being a successful secondary school graduate was a big deal. Passing WASC was a big deal Obtaining entry into any university was an even bigger mega deal. So when Buhari's principal wrote the military that recommendation letter both Buhari (and all the other boys that were not rushed - that were getting in after writing WASC) where a super mega deal. Each one was a huge celebration in his village. They were given army uniforms, and started a new career as Nigerian army officers. Do you think it would have been easy for Buhari to come back one day to his village, remove his Nigerian military uniform and wear the secondary school uniform (along with his juniors he had "left behind" and actually seat for that exam? Not to be skipped: He had already started receiving allowances as a working man should, and the money so terribly made sense in those days2 weeks of signalling to everyone that something might be wrong (when nothing was indeed wrong)? You know how the village people would have taken the anti-climax of it. Besides, do you think in the military, they were preparing him for WASC? How many hours in total (from the time he set foot in the military) did he spend getting himself ready for the examination? My position:He couldn't sum up the courage to take off the glory of his military robe and replace it with the secondary school garb. Also, he may have felt he was not even prepared for the examination considering the fact he had spent the whole year in military training as opposed to academic training. |

yomi96: This guy used to make sense before, now na opkata yarn e dey talk. The name Jesus is proven and tested. He can go to hell with his bs rethorics What he is saying is not really incorrect. The thing is that the power to name on earth is given to man.
So the Romans, in inventing roman catholicsm, did align a lot in the bible with pagan worship. Now, this is where that alignment does eventually count: All who mention the name of Jesus today are referring to the name of the Son of God, the one who died on the cross of Calvary for us all. Millions (actually, billions) are most likely not aware of any nimrod connection romans centuries ago tried to bring in. So when they name the name of Jesus, their intentions and their hearts rightly refer to the son of God who died on the cross. Their power to decide what they are referring to, remains, and the devastating effect remains with upon the works of evil. |
