PoliticsThe Nigerian Police Have Been Reduced To Political Thugs by coolscott(op):
Traditionally within NG govt circles, when an undesirable truth is laid bare, it is unbelievably denied even if is a blaring as a hot day's sun.

However, this here may not be denied -

The fact the Nigerian police seem to have been reduced to the state of political thugs.

What else can we say about situations were people have alleged the involvement of police officers (even senior ranking ones) to be involved in electoral rigging.

The incidenct that comes to mind easily is the allegation by the current Rivers State governor, that a certain Mr Akin Fakorede was involve in several illegal acts. He was later vindicated during re-run elections in the state when chance would have it that a video clearly revealing Mr Akin Fakorede thugging and terrorising INEC officials became public (and even aired on Channels TV).

What will we say of the incident where the police went to besiege the house of the senate president?

What will we say of the incident in Benue early yesterday, in which thugs were not needed to prevent elected lawmakers from getting into the chambers, but instead the police was used to teargas and prevent them from getting in, while they allowed the few (who they apparently were working for) to get in?

Truly, the Nigerian police has fallen to a very shameful state, and if no respect is accorded to their uniform by us in NGR or the rest of the world (the rest of the world probably disrespects them more), then they only have themselves to blame for the smear they seem to happily welcome unto a profession that ought to be one of the most dignified in our society.

~South-South Boy

If we are to go by what he has done in Nigeria as an example, then we should expect him to turn a blind eye and deaf ears when push comes to shove.

In any case, what will people say if he sends troops abroad to help fight terrorism when he has turned a blind eye here?

He knows the things he was saying were mere words, I think, because when it comes down to it at this very point in our political history, he will find it very difficult to send Nigerian troops to fight terrorism abroad, as there will be a waiting backlash in response to the act.

There are two very significant things you must note.

During the time of GEJ he had a security adviser who of course had access to information Jonathan didn't have regarding security situations in Nigeria.

He boldly declared the PDP was behind boko haram. Jonathan knew this too but couldn't say anything since it would totally destroy his government and his party. So at the expense of you and I, that information was buried.

Now PMB is here and though still investigating, suspicions have already shown the hand of PDP elements behind all that's going on but I am sure he would not want to just blame anybody for the sake of it. He would want to get it right by not only blaming but also showing proof to that effect.

PDP on their part has said they are responsible via azazi for boko haram

APC on their part have said PDP are responsible for the killings today

Now as a neutral person if you sit back and check the time lines of these killings, areas these killings occurred, states involved and how a lot of the attacks and killings were absolutely needless you would begin to see a pattern. What is that pattern?

THE VERY SAME BLUEPRINT USED TO START BOKO HARAM. THE SAME PATTERN IS AT WORK.
I personally have nothing against not wanting GEJ to be president in 2015 but I have everything against the choice they picked against him.
We all hate the APC now, but let us ask ourselves if we would hate the APC so much if say Fashola was the president.

Would we hate the party so much if Ibrahim Shekarau was president in APC (he was in APC before leaving them for the PDP, citing his inability to cope with their disorganized state prior to the elections at the time as the reason).

It would be very wrong to say that the party, PDP, was behind boko haram.
We are aware that many old school thinking people in the party were very unhappy and displeased with the emergence of GEJ as president.

So GEJ's enemies where not APC

APC never existed then.
After these elements might have started trying to make the country ungovernable for GEJ through Boko Haram, eventually, they all found their way into the APC when the APC was formed.

So the anti GEJ people were the old people who felt "why does he think he has the right to run and rule with no historical political power pedigree that we who have controlled the outcomes for years have?

Those elements fought GEJ from within the PDP from when Yar' Adua died till when they finally joined the APC.

They hated him from within but kind of tolerated him. But when he was going to run again in 2015, they couldn't stand it anymore. They had to go all out against him.

Also, I doubt the authenticity of this news. Mr Saraki does not talk like that. It is not part of his political makeup (which we have come to know) to speak without control like that.

If he said this indeed, it would look as if he is suffering from the same thing he is accusing El-Rufai of suffering from.

Why then are we still borrowing (more than we have ever borrowed before) to run the country?

I remember when during obj's time, celebrities around the world went on protests (street protests) asking that our debts be cancelled. They agreed and cancelled our debts

How will we face the world again when we plunge ourselves again into such huge debts?

There is this girl I met at my working place in the mid last year, we exchanged contact that day, and one thing led to the other and we started dating. We are really into each other and I can sense how much she care about me compared to other relationships I have been in the past.

But when my mum got to know about her, she said she's not in support with our relationship and she has never said such in my past relationship.

Please I want to seek advice from nairalanders on how I can peacefully end the relationship without hurting her feelings.

And how can I justify myself so that she won't have a bad impression about me (and men in general) that I just use her and dump her.
That is why God says no sex before marriage.
The case of "use and dump" would not be coming up if followed

I do not think he is led by God.

He is only attacking Buhari after the fact of his failure and not before (which is why he feels the need to attack now)

because he hailed and exalted Buhari before Buhari's victory, and even willingly took the shine after Buhari had won.

He also said then to us that it would be hard at first with Buhari but later things would turn out for the better.

He was not called to prophesy victories of (or about) political endeavours to us.

The job is to share God's word (which is impartial to personality) to all and sundry, and all who walk on the face of the earth.

But he chose to delve into politics. Now he seriously needs to repair the damage he has done to his rep and job.

When they transferred him away from where he had his ministry, the thought it was persecution but

not being a catholic, I felt they were just trying to protect him and their organisation (the catholic church) from

further political involvements.

His expression to me, on that fateful day in 2015, looks like an expression of fakeness.

There are some things he would ask you to do and you would have to ask yourself if you have the capacity to run away from him. If you didn't, you just, for the sake of the safety of your family and yourself, would just go ahead and do it. Otherwise, you know you might end up dead or tortured in prison.

I am convinced that PMB isn't what he was projected and packaged to be in the build up to 2015 general elections. Kemi's case is a huge embarrassment or how do we explain the fact that it took the President six good months shopping for her.

But the blame will still go to PDP for messing up greatly and to GEJ for being acutely docile and ineffectual so much that GMB became an option in the first instance.

Except integrity has another meaning, no Nigerian politician has it yet.
No. the blame should go where it is due. To folks like you (for voting for him) and OBJ and Tinubu (for selling him to Nigerians like you that voted for him).

There was nothing wrong with not wanting GEJ for a second term.
But there was everything wrong with choosing this mistake as a replacement, and actually investing one's time, persona and energy in bringing this undesired state we experience in NG today, into a reality.
