What has been holding him since. Am sure he is still afraid till tomorrow. As a matter of fact talk is cheap. |
An aide to President Goodluck Jonathan said on Friday that his boss was not afraid to visit some parts of the country as is being speculated in some quarters. Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ahmed Gulak stated this in an exclusive interview where he was reacting to Thursday’s visit to Maiduguri by the governors of the newly- formed All Progressives’ Congress, which led to talk of leaders being bold enough to visit any part of the country. Borno State has been the epicentre of Boko Haram terrorist activity which has claimed thousands of lives since 2009. However, President Jonathan has not visited there since he was elected into office in 2011, even though Vice-President Namadi Sambo was recently there. The governors said their choice of Maiduguri as a meeting venue was informed by the need to prove the point that there should not be any no-go area for any Nigerian leader. But Gulak told this correspondent that President Jonathan was not afraid of visiting any part of the country and he would prove it by visiting Maiduguri on Thursday. He said, “Who is afraid to visit Borno State? The President will be on a state visit to Borno State next week, March 7 to be precise. “The governors are just trying to pre-empt the President. Goodluck Jonathan is not afraid of visiting any part of the country. He is the President of all states and all parts of the country without exception.” Borno Featured maiduguri President Jonathan RELATED POSTS Jonathan Bold Enough To Visit Maiduguri – Presidency www.theheraldng.com/jonathan-bold-enough-to-visit-maiduguri-presidency/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook |
Its not true, I was in Awka early Jan for a wedding. The city has really changed with beautiful and fascinating edifices springing. I love the city, its good for relaxation because of its cool nature and serenity.[/quote]I just came from Awka today, I drove around the town, its still very far from a city. I went to udoka and on my way back I passed through amawbia. Its still a rural setting not close to a city in anyway. |
Awka is still a rural settlement. Onitsha and even Nnewi are cities when compared to Awka. But hopefully in the next five to ten years Awka may become a city with good governance. But for now its still far from an urban dwelling. |
chino24: Hahahahjanairaland.com/960161/el-rufai-insulted-igbo-race That was Obi's response to El rufuai when he pointed out how under developed Anambra was. And what El Rufai stated is the true position of Anambra state under Peter Obi. |
chino24: I know so many imo state graduates that has been trooping to Anambra in search of jobs in sabmiller, chrisoral, orange drugs etc. Infact I have a guy from ikeduru alwys coming to Anambra to disturb me for job. The fact is that imo state is dry, there is nothing on the ground for years of waste. I don't want to talk your jobless girls here lol. Imo people sees Anambra as their abroad, once they graduate they state heading for cities as Abuja, lagos, Anambra, ph in search of work.over 97percent of investment Head Bridge Onitsha are owned by your imo people while not go back to your rural state and invest. We don't need you whor/es. Infact there is part of you will go one will think its an extension of imo state because you people keep invading Anambra as refugees.Insult of the highest order. You must be insane to say Imo people see the very dirty Anambra to be abroad. Please leave Anambra state and visit other places and you wont make this kind of comment again. You will end up being ashamed of yourself and who ever is your leader. El rufuai has once told you guys that you are the most backward and least developed state in Nigeria when measured by indices of development. Your state government could not defend that, all they did was to bring up tribal sentiments. |
That how Boko haram will be compensated some day for killing innocent Nigerians. Our system is a failed one. |
Peter Obi already has the plan of decamping to Pdp to contest as a running mate for the presidential ticket if GEJ drops his ambition. Nairalanders should know that Peter Obi,Rochas Okorocha,Rotimi Amaechi, Theodore Orji and Godswill Akpabio are all interested for the position of the VP. Meanwhile Rochas sensing no space in the Pdp joined APC a step ahead of Obi who may be stranded in Pdp because of stiff interest and competition. More drama will still unfold. But what will be there greatest surprise is that non of them will get the vp slot, the man that will take is sitting down waiting and his name is Anyim Pius Anyim thats if GEJ does not contest. |
The only thing Governor Amechi has not done in Rivers state with respect to indices of good governance is the provision of pipe borne water. The guy has really done well and Rivers state people will definitey appreciate him in the future even if they don't do now. |
It was all over the press that Keshi's team was an Igbo team and even some people believed the team will fail and they will lambast him because of that. Keshi proved those ethnic bigots wrong and showed that he went for competent hands by winning with the Igbo team. I expected this, its not a surprise at all. The NFF should hire a whiteman and tell him what federal character is and leave this Igbo coach alone. God will definitely take him where he would be appreciated. |
Congratulations my president. We won it during your reign and I pray let it be the start of better things to come. |
Some selfish Nigerians mainly Yorubas tagged Keshi team an Igbo team. They were very optimisitic that the team would fail. They wanted federal character based on tribe but thank God Keshi has shamed them. Competence should be our watch word. Up Nigeria |
9ja_I_hail: And joining the mega party will make igbo benefit all these things you listed above in two years or less?Yes hopefully, there is nothing that cannot be negotiated. We can use the strength and spread of Ndigbo across the country to negotiate our interest. We need real political emancipation and that wont come from being on status quo. We need real change. |
What has Jonathan done for Ndigbo, he is just a tool used to humiliate us, from sacking of Nnaji to Uzoma and Ojukwu's burial. Our infrastructure in the south east are all dillapitated. No roads, schools or hospital from the federal government. The second niger bridge is not forthcomig from this government, so we have absolutely nothing to show for all the blind support to Jonathan. Even his own people are thinking twice. The Igbos need real political emancipation and that definitely wont come from GEJ or Pdp. We need to think deeply. |
;DYorubas would have been here saying rubbish assuming this happened in Igboland. I can see they are all hiding in shame without coming out to condemn in totallity these acts. They are been patriotic i think. |
fkaz: Fool like you calling nigerians gullible, see source http:///bzi5Ppg0Fake source, not existent. Am not among the people you can decieve with lies and fake propaganda. You fools cannot bring Rotimi Amechi down, from what I know about our constitution, he has the right to contest elections if he so wishes. But thats not even the case here, why did you guys post a photoshopped picture to nairaland. Thats desperation and nobody that is knowledgable will buy into it. Shame on you |
All the so called aggreived group are still faceless and cannot show up because of lies they have meddled both on the media and internet. The so called favouratism for Igbos are lies. They just wanted to exploit the hatred of few Nigerians towards the igbos to strip Ihejirika of his job. The army is a security job, nobody has the right to tell the chief on how to go about postings and redeployment of his officers and men otherwise the security of the nation will be in jeopardy. I believe some officers of northern/western extraction who were either retired or failed to get posted to their choice area are responsible for all these noise. |
Gullible Nigerians, was it not a photoshoped picture of Alamesiya that he dressed up like a woman to beat the british back to Nigeria and people bought into it. Thank God for better awareness now, at least people that have responded so far know that this is a joke and photoshop. Jonathan's nairaland crew should leave Amechi alone because they want to bring him down at all cost but they failed to realise that records on ground are far ahead of cheap press and internet publicity. Welldone Gov. Amechi |
This is the current trend making headlines on our media. I wonder which tribe is marginalised in this situation. It is a shame that unquallified people get jobs because of this federal character. The ealier merit is rewarded, the less this kind of crap will be entertained. |
Job seekers petition Senate, FCC over PEF recruitment 0 February 4, 2013 | 6:51 pm Victor AHIUMA- YOUNGAGGRIEVED job seekers have petitioned the Senate and the Federal Character Commission, FCC, urging them to probe recent recruitment exercise conducted by the Petroleum Equalisation Fund, PEF, claiming it was without due process and the principle of Federal Character. In a petition by no fewer than 11 applicants, dated January 21, 2013, to both the Senate and the FCC, they claimed to be graduates of different universities in the country and that the management of PEF recruited over 80 persons without recourse to rules and regulations governing recruitment into the public service. According to them, PEF management did not give a level playing field to all Nigerians in their recruitment process, to favour their alleged candidates, saying “the management of PEF did not follow due process by publishing/advertising existing vacancies in any national news daily as stipulated by the statute thereby depriving us of the opportunity to participate in the interview or selection exercise which was held between 3rd and 17th January, 2013,” they stated in the petition. The protesting applicants explained that, while they bore no grudges against those employed by the organisation, they were offended by the process that clandestinely gave them “employment without regards to the principle of Federal Character as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”They said that it was saddening since the promise of the Federal Government to create jobs for unemployed Nigerians and give equal opportunity to all irrespective of religious affiliation, financial capacity, ethnic and social background, were being undermined. The aggrieved job seekers argued that the FCC was established, which the National Assembly was in support, to check flagrant abuse of processes and procedures of recruitment by various government establishments, including PEF.They urged the Senate and the FCC to seriously look into their petition alongside similar petitions such as the Nigeria Immigration Service. vanguardngr.com/2013/02/job-seekers-petition-senate-fcc-over-pef-recruitment/ |
Virgin Finder: I don't care if the Igbos dominate the armed forces. You are ranting like kkk in the US but Obama proved them wrong. Igbos will continue to prove you wrong just like our super eagles proved ethnic bigots wrong. If merit is given a chance, an Igbo can emerge likewise any other person. Stop hating, learn to appreciate people irrespective of their race, tribe or religion. A word is enough for the wise. |
nagoma: Igbo's are not from Niger Delta and PTF money was tax from petrol purchased by vehicle owners. Get some education before jumping in with illiterate arguments. If I may ask which geographical area with respect to river niger do Igbos dwell. Please go back to your high school geography before coming to rant nonsense here. |
1. Rotimi Amechi Rivers state 2. Rochas Okorocha Imo state 3. Babatunde Fashola 4. Sule lamido 5. Adams Oshomole Amechi carries the day because he has met all the index of political development especially education, health care and lastly infrastructure. Rochas comes second for working with very little resources available to him. Fashola comes third for transforming Lagos state and building a strong revenue base internally. Sule Lamido and Oshomole are likewise doing fantastic with their available resources. |
