You are in a fast-growing population of people who are recovering from religion. Hopefully you'll become a fixture on this board. It would help you challenge your ideas and broaden your scope.

Calling God "beyond logic" is just fancy talk for illogical. The fact that an entity with consciousness is somehow self-existing makes no sense whatsoever.

Take quantum mechanics for example, it is honestly mind-bending. Yet, at the end of the day, physicists are regularly able to make accurate predictions with it.

Putting this into perspective, we can see that the God theory is completely unnecessary to questions on our existence.

Again consciousness was not addressed in the OP . And I' m not sure why I should fixate on consciousness as proof for God's existence . I see reality itself (everything that exists in this world and other possible words ) as evidence for God since he is the creator of everything that exists/source of all realities .

There are atheists who have studied the DNA and abjured their atheistic beliefs because they there were convinced that DNA couldn't have resulted from random chaotic processes ; some atheists like C. S. Lewis studied the evidential truth of the existence of Christ on earth and became Christians ; there are atheists who recanted their views against God when they had personal revelations and experienced miracles ; there are so many reasons why people acknowledge the existence of God . It could be through Science and observation of nature (like the deist) , personal encounters , a posteriori knowledge , Logic , reason , ontological arguments etc .

If yours is just consciousness then I implore you to broaden your perspective and read widely (your knowledge is apparently limited to so little ) . And get exposed to a plethora of concepts , arguments and reasons supporting God's existence .

Verbal gymnastics, Ebuka. You can't address the common quality of almost every god concept. This means that your assertion fails logically.

Let's put it this way, you say DNA is too complex to be synthesized naturally (which I disagree with since it had 500 million years in an open system to do it) but believe that the designer can because it is 'eternal'. But doesn't design require consciousness? If you cannot show evidence of consciousness in the absence of matter, then there is no evidence for God.

If you cannot bring forth evidence of the brain violating the law of energy conservation. Your god hypothesis is at best, unnecessary and at worst, a product of wishful thinking.

It's quite simple, if the first cause of the universe isn't conscious then it is nothing more than a natural phenomenon. Consciousness requires matter to exist in the first place. You can end this argument by providing conclusive evidence against the previous statement. Until then, I cannot think of any meaningful argument that can be made for the existence of God

For goodness sake, I said it is compared to a code for easier understanding because it obviously has similarities. At the root of it, though, it functions through purely chemical processes. Treating it as a code is just our way of understanding it. DNA is merely a base ordered sequence.

scientific evidence shows that the universe (time space and matter) began as a singularity 4.5 billion years ago before expansion , hence the cause is external and we deist call that supernatural cause God

I've answered this time and time again, the fact that the Universe had a beginning doesn't prove God. The Big Bang only denotes expansion of the singularity into the Universe that we know of. If the cause of the singularity is truly external then there's no way that you can reliably tell me that it's anything resembling any definition of God that we have.

The ontological argument is inherently flawed. It first assumes there is a God then concludes the is a God. Lets take it this way, think of a supreme being than nothing can be greater than, the supreme being would be greater if it exists so it must exist. Is that even logical? How does the conception of such a being affect reality?


But at the end of the day, the biggest proof against God is the lack of evidence that isn't unverifiable. You guys have managed to push God from mountains, to the clouds and now outside observable time and space. Sounds awfully convenient, doesn't it?

Quite true. Christians though, are more open to adapt the meaning of their scriptures to modern societal constructs. While Islam in the other hand, sets rather specific and unchangeable laws that admittedly aren't compatible with modern times. And one of those laws tells us that if a girl has reached puberty, then she is ready for marriage.

Quality content is supposed to speak for itself rather than the poster gaming the rather flawed system which counts the authors' own views and comments as part of the total comments and views.
