asha80: it should be that the community points to a project that they want government to do that is within a 5m naira budget and government goes ahead to do it not handing the money to traditional rulers to do it..what is the guarantee and those guys no go pocket am? How would the government be able to cover about 500 autonomous communities within the period? This would take a longer time. What is the guarantee that the government will be able to handle all the projects pointed out by the communities? Now that the government has given the money to them, the communities can now hold their traditional rulers accountable. The communities may chose to complete their townhalls, build culverts, expand their local markets, add medicines to their local maternites...The state government should be left to monitor these projects, than get bugged down in doing the projects. We are talking about N5 million here. Again, one or two mega projects with greater employment prospects are required in the state capital next term. |

Developing the rural areas is very good, but I will like to see major project, even if it is one, in the the capital from 2019 when the governor would start his second term. We need industries, we need coal power plant, etc. |

Ugwuanyi disburses N5 million each to another 171 communities for development
…as Royal Fathers from Governor’s council endorse his re-election
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, in continuation of his administration’s “One Community, One Project” scheme on Monday handed over cheques of N5 million each to another batch of 171 autonomous communities that have met the requirements for the release of the funds to carry out development projects of their choice.
The scheme is an extensive rural development initiative of the Ugwuanyi administration aimed at ensuring that development reaches the 450 autonomous communities in the state, with a dedicated sum of N10 million for each community to address her pressing and peculiar development needs.
Consequently, the State Executive Council approved the scheme and earmarked the sum of N2.25 billion for 450 autonomous communities in the state as the first tranche of the N10 million for every community for the execution of development projects of their choice. Recently, N5 million was disbursed to 118 autonomous communities that had then fulfilled the requirements for the release of the funds.
Last weekend, Gov. Ugwuanyi was at Ibagwa Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area to inaugurate projects executed by the community with the first tranche of N5million, which was earlier disbursed to 118 communities....

Doublecheck: All the time he could have made his points withouts taking shot or subliminal jabs and still pass his message across with every one understanding the message he was trying to pass. Or you think it's okay for him to take shots once in a while and its bad for chino cause he takes shots all the time, what is bad is bad his statement's were uncalled for.
Here are some quote of ofodirinwa's post (Bold) after reading it let me know if you still think what he said was in order and while you are at it kindly explain to me how Aba and Onitsha people behave, the same Onitsha and Aba that have produced some of Igbo's best and brightest minds.
With post like those highlighted tell me what separates him from Chino. I salute Anambrains and Abia people for their maturity to overlook his stupid jabs as they were totally uncalled for.

"Mechanized farming is great but there's more to life than money. This isn't an abstract concept either. May of the degenerative behaviors Nigerians exhibit are the result of the hideous toxic environments our short sightedness forces us to create.
When we make said money what will we do? Build a big tacky house and cage ourselves in 10 foot concrete walls. Well cut down every tree visible in the process.
When the air is full of dust, when erosion strikes, when smog reaches, air quality declines, people start dying at 40 from natural causes, we'll blame government.
Ontisha was built with 0 consideration for health or environment in mind. Today it's the dirtiest city in the world and the people there act like pained animals.
Owerri is moving in a decent direction and takes beauty into consideration. Enugu too. Do you know why people in Aba and Onitsha act one way while people in Enugu and Owerri act another?
Our poor concept of development has us racing towards wasting our time on Earth in a miserable ugly concrete hell.
You can't look at something this beautiful and start thinking of how to destroy it. Besides, beauty generates more money than rice. If Amazon or Microsoft was going to build office you think they'll choose to do it in a treeless, smoggy dusty wasteland?" This post is not good. I condemn it. We should talk more on how to improve our region. Onitsha and Aba are coming up very well. There is no point for people to use derogatory words to describe them. There are slums everywhere. Even Lagos with trillion budget has Makoko Yaba which is worse than anything you can see in the east. Please lets stop this trend, reconcile and move on. As per the issue at the senate, Ohaneze should do their work in bringing their members together. |

Just like you have in quota system scheme... as far as Yoruba is concern Yoruba had political diversities. I ve never see where Igbo condemn there politicians except okorocha that's from different party they hate
you people political insight is a product of empirical advances and that's why they will keep riding your folks
who cares if Yoruba don't get to number 1 sit once the person elected is affecting my life directly or indirectly. osibanjo and obj has no single effect in my life. so if Yoruba is sidelined permanently is none of my own concerned. I want a president that will govern well, it's through the good governance i will be affected and not this ethnicity babysit talk Nobody is riding the folks. It is a federal govenment policy since after the war that has stretched more than a 50 years. What did Igbo do wrong in supporting Shagari, Yaradua, Obasanjo, and Johnathan? Why is their region least developed in federal terms...forget about state development. Good governance comes with equitable distribution of national resources. Isn't it? |

so which platform is Igbo president coming from in 2023, the same APC y'all called broom evil party? or PDP flag bearer in north in 2019 will sign MOU with you people on first term alone while Igbo use the rest?
my problem with you people is your political confusion. north started this, vote buhari then we will give Igbo president in 2023 and y'all adopted the political belief, why am I surprise when ipob himself said buhari reelection would instigate the emergence of Biafra and none of u could ask how? y'all started ranting it.
I hope you people get it right and if Igbo president is your priority I still wish you people the best.... Where is the incoherence when it seems you are hurt be an Igbo president? Personally I don't care where the president comes from. What majority of Igbos want is fair distribution of the nation's wealth and not the present state where only the north and SW are benfitting for 50 years now. This happens irrespective of where the president comes from. Take a look at 2nd Niger bridge, it would have since been completed if it were in the north or SW. Who are you to advise on Igbo's priority? What is Yoruba priority? |

Purehuman: No, they are planning to buy SUVs for all traditional rulers and gifting 50 communities with 100million each to build town halls and village square. If the investors you are trying to lure doesn't see any effort from you, he'll think you are not serious.
I was watching NAS daily on Facebook, do you know that a single individual made big organization to spend over a billion dollar in his village to become an industrial village. He didn't have the money but he was able to lure big investors to invest a billion dollars. Another lured 5billion dollars to build a city in his country. Not a loan but pure investments.
So even between ourselves we cannot generate up to 10billion dollars worth of investment to rebuild southeast and returns on such investments?
I might not be an economist but if a person can remodel and upgrade Onitsha market, it will generate thrice the amount the entire state generates in a month. We keep seeing things we need to do but we are refusing.
Aba needs overhauling. As in chase everyone out and redesign the city to its deserved taste. That could be Milan or Paris of Africa. They design clothing, shoes and everything. Shoes and clothing businesses are responsible for 10billionaires in the world today but we cannot organize such sector and get things going.
We need to let people know that we can be trusted in delivering high level goods and services by redesigning our pattern of development.
We are losing in many aspects because we are failing to organize ourselves and cut the Lagos and Abuja umbilical cord. I will give you a bottle of wine if I see you |

0monnak0da: Buhari lost in 2011. Why
He won in 2015 because GEJ was incompetent but more imporaantly he did not know how to strategize for elections. He was naive and failed to understand how important the SW was to his success.
That is why he allowed PDP to die in the SW. In 2011 even though he won in the SW his party lost the governorships of most states and he did not respond. Those who should have been his foot soldiers in PDP were neutered. People like Alao-Akala ,Obasanjo, Gbenga Daniel Olabode George even went to prison and Dimeji Bankole was shamed. In short he handed the SW to APC. By th time the election came he had no structure in the SW. With Mimiko he should have brought him into the PDP fold but again was naive. He should have got Oshiomhole on his side by anyy means necessary. He also started unnecessary fights with Amaechi and Saraki. He failed in the game of politics. When the time for poltics came who was incharge of his campaign in the SW? He had already killed PDP in the SW which was a terrible mistake
The idea that power had to shift to the north is rubbish. If GEJ had not been so incompetent and fighting too many people unnecessarily he would have returned.
The reality is deep dwn GEJ is hostile to the SW and some people very very close to him are.
His decision to use soldiers in Lagos to enforce the petrol price hike in 2012 was very foolish and his subsequent comments about Lagos did not help. GEJ lost because of GEJ. He was a small man in big shoes He won in 2015 because GEJ was incompetent but more imporaantly he did not know how to strategize for elections. He was naive and failed to understand how important the SW was to his success. ----------------------------------------------- I stopped reading your thrash after the aabove statement. Now that Buhari is grossly incompetent and has failed to understand the important of SE...do you think he will lose in 2019? |

the promise to give Igbo president has been on for a while. let them give Igbo and see what effect that would bring to Igbo land when the state governors couldn't develop the states Shivering like vulture already... What do you mean the governors couldn't develop the state? Which state in your SW is more developed then the ones in SE except Lagos? Why is Igbo president your greatest problem? Northerners will look for one thing to buy in Nigeria but we will still be building 1km road leading to nowhere or better put, beautify one roundabout in one village. That's the point. As the western governors are buying MMIA, why can't the SE governors buy AIIA Enugu...Get Igbos in diaspora with foreign partners and build world class international airport there. Also get all approvals so all flights can come to the east...even if it has to be one-weekly...until most easterns will learn to fly from Enugu and not Lagos or Abuja. CoolAmbience: I am Igbo but I have to correct an erroneous impression you made.
There is no such thing as 'turn'. Once, the presidency returns to the South, the most 'prepared' group takes it. Always remember that it is a game of numbers. The presidency won't remain 'unfilled' because we are not ready.
Nd'Igbo will still have to rely hugely on votes from the 3 regions of the North to make that break.
We have to build to right bridges that will guarantee our presidency in 2023, nothing is served on a platter. Sorry to bust your lies. There is something called turn. Nigeria is not ripe to vote based on performance or the group that are ready. If it were, GEJ would have continued. Buhari won not because of which group that was ready but because power had to shift to the north. Even PDP members from the north voted for Buhari. Can you remind us again why only Obasanjo and Falae contested in 1999? Remember Obasanjo came out from Prision...or was he campaigning from the prison? |
