Develpeast:You are right... Take PRODA ENUGU as an example...It was established in 1971 to hasten technological developments...but it is largely not properly funded. About PRODA PRODA was a creation of the defunct East Central State Government under Edict No. II of 1971. It was charged with the broad function of generating and catalyzing industrialization by carrying out industrial research from the laboratory stage to the pilot plant stage, and by rendering consultancy services to Governments, industry and individuals. It is, therefore, one of the oldest Research Institutes in the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (FMST). |

" .....The Advancement of Technology and Intellect for Economic Dominance. ....The third proposition is no less important. As we have seen, before the war, Igbos dominated the academia and technology in Nigeria. We recorded many firsts in many intellectual fields including technology. In the present world where technology defines progress with its attendant leadership status, we should reenact these pre-war feats and use them to dominate the economy of Nigeria. The good news here is that after what happened during the period I refer to as the dark ages of Ndigbo, that is, the post- civil war era, light appears to be slowly but steadily reappearing in the horizon. The continuing stories of industrial and technological breakthroughs in Nnewi, Onitsha, Aba and Enugu, all point to a resurgence of the Igbo intellectual and technological prowess. I find it reassuring that Innoson Motors, the first indigenous fully localized motor assembly plant in Africa is the brain child of an Igbo, Zinox Computers, the first indigenous computer assembly in Nigeria is yet another product of an Igbo. Recently, a young technician in Onitsha displayed an electric plant that can be powered by water instead of petrol or gas, to illuminate an electric bulb. That same Igbo lad invented how to recycle used plastics and polythene into fuel, that is petrol, disel and kerosene. Yes, a renaissance of the Igbo spirit of rare technological aptitude is on. The Aba textiles and foot wear industrial revolution and the Nnewi automobile assembly wonder, all point to this direction. In the intellectual sphere, the Igbos have equally woken from sleep. As at 2014, the records at the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) show that Imo State has the highest number of professors in Nigeria. The records for the other States in the South East are no less impressive. Also in 2023, 2014, and 2015, Anambra State topped the rest of the country in WAEC examinations. In 2016 Abia State was the best. More cheering news is that the five South East States have remained among the top seven best States in the country in the last six (6) years. I am very proud of these records and I am sure you are too. Yes, because it assures us that all hopes are not lost. The truth is that if we continue with these giant strides in the areas of science, academia and technological inventions, it will not be long for us to dominate the economic landscape of our country. Again we must take action to make this happen. My well-considered view is that the political leadership of Ndigbo should put together a Board of Trustees(BOT) for the promotion of science and technology in the Igbo homeland. This can be achieved by galvanizing all Igbos in different fields to come and launch a trust fund for this purpose. The Board of Trustees will manage this fund and annual contributions to the fund shall be mandatory for all Igbo public officers, Corporate persons and organizations. Contributions by other individuals or businesses can be worked out to be either mandatory or voluntary. The fund will be used to finance the mass production of technological inventions by Igbos such as the one by the Onitsha lad, which we have alluded to. The fund will also be deployed for technological research by our University professors and others. The availability of this fund will greatly encourage talented individuals to come up with inventions and stimulate more technological research work. If this is done, it will be only a matter of time for Igbos to flood the economy with new products which their willing brothers and sisters in the distributive trade will be too glad to market. The effect of this is that Ndigbo will take their economic destiny in their hands, and will over a short time, control the economy of the nation. As we know with economic power, political power can be bent. So what do all these come to? They amount to the profound reality that Ndigbo can control the economy of Nigeria and with economic power make political power amenable to their whims and desires. With political power forced to be Igbo friendly, marginalization will be a thing for the dustbin of history".....Senator Hope-Uzodimma Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/04/marginalization-way-indigbo-hope-uzodimma/ |

Not Buhari's fault. Blame the cabal, Tinubu and the BMC members like the buhariguy... He has said that age is not on his side...but these greedy people who are using him for their own selfish things are pushing him on...till at least 2023.

Ofodirinwa:This is like it... Beautiful land and skies of Coal City... No room for red earth ![]()

asha80:I had advise the state assemblies pass a law to make properties owners reduce the red earth in the environs by planting grass and trees or using concrete slabs to reduce the menace of the red earth and dust...as new neighbourhoods emerge...so as not to repeat what we have in the old neighbour hoods. With time all the old areas will be covered. That's how European cities started.

The United Christian Leaders Eagle Eyes Forum, UCLEEF, which had presented a copy of the Holy Bible to Buhari ahead of the 2015 presidential election, has declared a 30-day prayer and fasting to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from winning the 2019 election. DAILY POST recalls that Buhari had last week Monday while announcing his intention to vie for the 2019 presidential election, told the National Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that he was responding to the clamour by Nigerians for him to seek a second term in office. The group of prayer warriors, who expressed readiness to send Buhari into what they described as forceful retirement, called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious, ethnic and political inclinations, to “awake and save our dear nation” as it is the citizenry that has the power, right and choice to make the country great again. Addressing a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, Chairman of the UCLEEF, Pastor Aminchi Habu said there was every indication that if President Buhari is re-elected in 2019, the country will continue to slide backward, asking Nigerians to expect more failures from the president. He stated that what the country needs to do to end the high level of social decadence and lack of development in the country is to elect a leader with a vision and the mindset to make the nation great. Habu said, “The president knows that he has nothing to offer this country. So, he should just maintain his integrity by keeping to his word of doing only one term. “He failed already, and will surely fail again because nothing will change. It will still be the same group of people. Just because engine oil makes a car run smoothly doesn’t mean it can revive an engine that knocks. “The president is not a leader anymore but has turned into a ruler. A leader put his people first while a ruler only thinks about himself. Right now, Mr. President is not thinking about the masses but himself only. He just wants to remain in power and not you serve this country, because he cannot. “We cannot continue like this, and that is why we are urging Nigerians to vote massively against him and retire him forcefully. He has nothing to offer again. Mr. President is known for blaming others for his failures. He blames the PDP for the economic problems in the country, and now he is blaming late Gaddafi for the insecurity problems in the country,” he stated. The UCLEEF chairman stated that the 30-day prayers and fasting had commenced by both Christian and Muslim faithfuls for a true leader to emerge out of the many aspirants, stressing: “I indulge each and every citizen of this country to awake and save our dear nation. We all have the power, the right, and the choice to make the right and wise decision so that Nigeria will be great again. “What Nigeria needs is a leader with vision and a mindset to make this nation great. Nigeria needs a leader, not a ruler. Someone who is bold enough to see failure and turn it into success, not someone who will see failure and blame others for it. “That is why we as a Christian forum with some of our Muslim brothers with like mindset have entered into prayers and fasting that before we reach the middle of the year, that is June, a true leader will emerge out of the many aspirants”. Habu further said, “the APC are claiming that PDP failed and is the cause of all the failure in this present government. Well, how can the government perform effectively when all those that are supposed to help it work better are among those that make the previous government failed? It’s like buying a new car and instead of using a new engine oil you decided to use the condemned one from your old car, you cannot blame the car if it develops a fault. “And now we hear the president blaming Gaddafi for all the killings happening in the country. Well, it’s not surprising because the president is known for blaming others for his failure. He blames PDP for the economic problems in the country and now he is blaming Gaddafi a dead man for insecurity problems in the country. “Next he will blame car manufacturers for all the accidents happening on our roads due to how bad the roads are, or even blame Textbooks authors for the failure in our academic system, or blame Kanji dam for the electricity problem. “Even if those people are from outside the country, it is still the fault of the president as the commander in chief of the armed forces of Nigeria. He closed those places that are supposed to be open, like the border of Cotonou, and left so many loopholes for infiltration. It is just like a man having a house, you didn’t fence it, and you decided not to close your doors and windows at night without any security. “You can’t blame anybody if armed robbers enter and create havoc in your house and of cause, no one will pity you because you brought it upon yourself due to your carelessness and negligence. Since the president doesn’t know how to protect the country, he should not blame anyone for his inability to keep his children safe as the father of the nation.” http://dailypost.ng/2018/04/20/christian-group-gave-buhari-bible-declares-fasting-presidents-sack/ |
Most Nigerian Youths Are Illiterates, Lazy, Buhari Tells Commonwealth. Most Nigerians are corrupt - Buhari. Members of the House of Representatives have decried an alleged violation of the federal character principle in recruitment by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government, which they alleged was done deliberately to favour particular sections of the country. They noted that a worrisome dimension was President Muhammadu Buhari’s silence on the matter, stressing that the trend should be reversed. The lawmakers bared their mind on Tuesday while debating a motion on the urgency to comply with the federal character principle in all recruitment by agencies. The motion was moved by a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Jigawa State, Mr. Sani Zorro, who observed that the recruitment conducted by many MDAs did not incorporate all the sections of the country equitably. In his reaction, the Chairman, Committee on Public Accounts, Mr. Kingsley Chinda, noted that the MDAs were simply taking after Buhari’s “body language.” He cited the appointment of heads of security agencies by the President, an issue that dominates public discourse and trends on the social media on a daily basis. Chinda told the House that since the President’s style was to remain unresponsive, the heads of the MDAs took a cue from him. According to him, “This case, as they say, is rotten from the head. The head has breached Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) by appointing 99 per cent of heads of the security agencies from the same section of the country. “We have an unresponsive government. This issue has been raised by many people; it is a dominant topic on social media, but because the government is unresponsive, nothing has been done to address it. “If I am the head of an agency, it means that I must do the same thing by employing only my people, because that is what the head of the government (Buhari) wants me to do. I will look stupid not to employ my people.” On his part, the Chairman, Committee on Interior, Mr. Adams Jagaba, cited the recruitment conducted in 2014 by the Nigeria Immigration Service to buttress how the MDAs flouted the federal character principle. Jagaba, whose committee probed the famous “NIS recruitment scam,” said it uncovered how some states were unduly favoured, disclosing that, “there was a particular local government in this country. We found out that 500 people were recruited from this local government alone.” The Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, however pointed out that lopsided recruitment did not start today, stressing that, “It is something that has been happening for a very long time and I agree that we must all rise up and do something about it”. |
10 Happiest Cities in Africa By Steve Siboe https://www.africa.com/10-happiest-cities-africa/ 9 Enugu, Nigeria Enugu is located in South Eastern Nigeria and is the capital of Enugu State. This lovely, beautiful, and quiet city has the happiest people in Nigeria. For starters, despite economic recession and insecurity challenges, Nigeria was ranked the 6th happiest country in Africa, according to the World Happiness Report 2017, with a score of 5.074. Happy Planet Index puts Nigeria’s HPI score at 22.2, life expectancy at 52.8 years, and well-being of 5.5/10. Even though the country has undergone a lot of social and economic challenges, Nigerians, especially in Enugu, have managed to live happy lives. Enugu is well-organized, less stressful, and clean, making it a top choice for people looking for an exciting and beautiful city to reside. Unlike other bigger cities that are chaotic and busy, Enugu is quiet, safe, and beautiful. The city’s residents are welcoming, warm, and eager to help whenever you are in need of assistance. The lower cost of living compared to other Nigerian cities, a good transportation system, and well-established educational institutions have enabled Enugu residents live a happier and peaceful life compared to their counterparts in other cities. Just like other countries, Nigeria has its fair share of problems, but optimism and hope have played key roles in keeping the society together.
