yes, got my admission confirmation
they are however asking for the semester contribution by 25th shocked
when embassy has refused to give AD. anybody ever got a refund of semester fees?
The school is obligated to return your semester contribution if you are unable to continue with the academic session you paid for. For some schools, you get the entire amount back if you make a request before the start of lectures, some even a month after that. If you request for a refund and present evidence of why you were unable to start, a form would be sent and the account number you fill on the form would be credited with the payment within a month.

This has been the experience of one of our team member here at Coracle and we thought to share.

We wish you all the best in your future endeavour and hope to see you in Deutschland soon.

iPOD007:
Thank you very much for your response.

I arrived in October to Germany and informed Coracle i wanted to increase my blocked account to 10,236 since I came in with 8840. I returned the first payout they sent to me the same day and sent the balance to make it 10,236. A few days later, I got the confirmation mail of 10,236 on 4th November.

After series of back and forth mails, shouting and crying I got my first payout 20th November.
Firstly, we appreciate you for the feedback and thank you for using our services. However, the details are not entirely correct as can be seen via the bolded.

Your first payout was initiated before you sent a mail requesting for it to be kept on hold. The issue with making a refund to the BA after the payout have been initiated is that the system has begun and payments have been calculated. An attempt to change that is what led to you receiving the payout twice in Dec and Jan. However, moving forward you should get the updated payouts.

Since they do not have a platform where you can check how much is remaining in your blocked account (Unlike other ones) I wrote to them to send me a statement of my account with them for me to be sure we are both on the same page, low and behold, they sent me a wrong value. I was shocked, but thankfully, I also have a local excel sheet where I keep all transactions. I made a screenshot of this and sent to them, then they argued again. I mailed them again, they checked and corrected the value. That was when it dawned on me that they are not organized.
This was partly as a result of the change in the balance before and after you topped up. The person who replied didn't see the update.

A few days later, I got notification from my school that my stipend had been paid two weeks earlier into my blocked account mistakenly. I was shocked why Coracle did not inform me of any deposit since 2 weeks back. I mailed them and they confirmed they got the money.
But, why did you not inform me? No reply.
Ok, how do I get this money since it is not a blocked money? No reply.
Just as Jules explained, we aren't a bank and not obligated to send clients notification for every deposit made to the account. Very soon, all users would have the ability to check their balance and print their statements.

The system calculates any excess on your account and pays it out with your first payout. However, since the excess came after the payout had been initiated, it would take a system reset or periodic maintenance to implement that additional amount. It is not a blocked money, but it is in a blocked account and blocked account are designed for monthly payouts on a pre-agreed amount.

It took me another 2 weeks of mails and calls, before they agreed to send it.
Since early December, up till this moment of typing this, I have not received the money. Once again, they said they initiated it and their bank has issues.
I'm sure you understand the need for caution when dealing with funds. When S informed you that the funds were transferred, that was true; but the embedded security system would not allow such and that is why you haven't received the payment.

I can see you've sent another email today. I would enjoin you to be patient as it would all be resolved soon.

Vielen Dank für Ihre Geduld.

Thats when one gets denied visa. What about when one is declined an interview, and he has no denial letter for his visa?
We have our ways of contacting the Consulate in the country of the applicant. If they confirm to us that no visa has been issued, the refund process would be initiated. However, this could take a longer time as it would be depending on the response time of the Consulate.

Studying in Germany : What you should know

This is in response to a FAQ I always get from scholars especially nairalanders.

The first point of contact is this website:
Daad.de/en

1. Block account: The estimated living expenses for a student in a month is 720euros, when you multiply that by 12 months, you get 8640euros. This is the amount you're required to block in an already opened account with either Deutsch bank, Fintiba or Xpatrio. It is called a block account because you will not be able to withdraw everything at once, only 720euros will be released to you every month.
You forgot to include Coracle. tongue

We're even the first listed provider on the German Federal Foreign Office website. wink

Coldie:
If u want to withdraw ur BA money. From fintiba or coracle u need to book an appointment from consular services.

For everybody that wants to do that. This would be helpful one day to smbodi
This is false.

For Coracle:

If an applicant's visa is granted and he arrives germany, s/he simply needs to upload their IBAN details together with the city registration (Anmeldung) to their portal. In cases where the person hasn't registered with the city authority, they can send the page of their passport with the immigration stamp at the point of arrival.

If the visa application is unsuccessful, they just need to send the decision letter from the Consulate to the Coracle official email and the refund process would be initiated. Depending on the method of funding, extra information might be demanded from the applicant.

Gold234:
Hello everyone,
Please I have questions regarding this German waka and I will appreciate your answers to it.

Please your suggestions are welcome. Thank you very much.
Hi Gold234,

Can a Nigerian Mom going for Master's program travel with her child?
If yes, how much is she expected to have in her blocked account for herself and her child?
Yes, she can. As for the amount required, there is no information to give at this moment, but more research would be done about it. Hopefully, someone who has done it before can share their experience.

If the visa is approved and granted, will the German Government permit the mom to enroll her child in a German school over there?
Yes, you would be permitted. It's even a selling point for universities, as they have special nursery or kindergartens for children of students operated by the Studentenwerk. So, it's important you check with your proposed school. For example, some Studentenwerk offer free meals for children in the university cafeterias. Your school's Studienberatung or Studentenwerk would be able to give more info about the financial assistance you may be entitled to and how to apply for it.

If your child is at least six or seven years old, you need to enrol them in a primary or secondary school. Eduation is compulsory at that level and most children in Germany attend state schools which are free. They might just have issues with the language and certain municipality have centres to deal with this (especially since the rise in refugees from the middle east). There are mother groups on Facebook that discuss such issues, especially wives/partners of expats who aren't German speakers.

Can the mom cope with the pressure of studying, working and taking care of the little child over there?
This is dependent on your resilience and determination to succeed. Also, your course of study and decision to work while there. It's not impossible, but you have to be strong and make decisions accordingly. Child care is important in Germany and you might not readily find people who would share the same communal values as your home country. So, make a plan, speak to your school, join mothers group for expats in your proposed city and its all going to turn out fine.

Best wishes

Elders in the house! Your boy needs your help.
My course is 18 months(A year and 6 months).
For the remaining 6 months after my first year, is it the 6 months blocked account funding I will do or must it be another one year funding?
Waiting for response(s).
Thanks.
Hi Kolladey,

As other have said, you would be required to make another year blocking after the expiration of the first year. This is what is obtainable everywhere.

However, with Coracle, you can block for the first year and after that, send a mail for extension of the blocked account for another 6 months. Hence, you don't have to deposit the full BA amount (just what suffices for the 6 months) and you get a confirmation that you can present to your Ausländerbehörde.

TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 7 by CoracleNG:
iPOD007:
Good evening all.

Wishing everyone a successful planning and Visa grants to everyone expecting.

I would just like to advise anyone considering to use CORACLE for blocked account to think about it twice.

My experience with them has not been good and it would not be nice to just keep shut about it and let others run into it blindly.

When I arrived mid October, I did all verification and was expecting my first pay out. Before the pay out came, I got notification from the local office that i needed to increase my blocked account to 10,000 Euros since I came in ith 8840 Euros.
So, I borrowed some money, wrote to CORACLE to put my payout on hold that I want to increase the amount. I did not get a reply from them for 4 days and i got my payout.
After the payout, they then replied that I could increase the blocked amount, so i sent bacj the payout and the borrowed fund to complete the 10,000 Euros now amount.

Then it took a lot of mails for 2 weeks before I could get my payout, BUT instead of them to now pay me 850 Euros monthly, they still sent 700 X 2 = 1400 Euros for October and November.
I made a complaint and they said they have bank issues and they will sort it out.
Since October till now, I have sent a lot of mails and no result.
The only saving grace was I already paid my for my October and November accommodation and health insurance before leaving Nigeria. I imagined If I was to fully depend on this payout, it would have been a disaster.
There are still other funds I am still trying to get out from them apart my blocked account and its still one story or the other.

I had this discussion with some of my classmates and almost everyone has one issue or the other. A lady had to even call them many times and got her payout after 2 months. A Ghanaian said it took him 3 months to get his own payout from them.
I think they are not stable in this business yet, So I would advise that you avoid them if you can.
PLEASE NOTE: This is MY OWN experience and does not translate to the overall experience of everyone using Coracle.

Cheers to everyone.

Success!
Hi iPOD007,

We are sorry for this experience. It is no secret that we had some technical issues over the last few weeks. This was mainly because we changed our partner bank to accomodate deposits from certain countries which had certain financial restrictions.

However, we have restructured the entire process and payout have been going out normally since the last payout. Nevertheless, there could have been some error with certain accounts.

You can send an email (or resend if you have done that before) to the customer support email explaining the issue and add Nairaland to the subject. The case would be immediately addressed.
Travel AdsCoracle GmbH by CoracleNG(op):
Dear Esteemed Customers on Nairaland,

Firstly, we apologize for the delay you had encountered over the last couple of weeks. There was a technical glitch with our partner bank and this caused some delays in both confirming your deposits as well as making the monthly payouts.

However, the worst is behind us now and we have fixed all bugs in the system. The majority of backlogs of payouts have been made over the last few days and going forward, all payouts would be on time. For some banks, if the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, it could be delayed till the next working day after the break.
