Random thoughts: 1.) Deceiving someone in this way is considered a sex crime. This person didn't consent to that. 2.) There are gay men who don't accept their own feelings towards men and seek out crossdressers mainly because of that. They even say they're not gay if they only date trannies (ridiculous). Some will sleep with a tranny and then attack them, which I don't think is really a thing with noncrossdressing gay men that hook up. I question if the guy was truly deceived because a lot of these guys that mess with trannies like to pretend they don't know. 3.) One of the main reasons guys crossdress is because of abuse. As a boy, they associate masculinity with the abuser. They also have body issues. The crossdressing is a way for them to essentially seperate from all that stuff. Crossdressing isn't a healthy behavior, and we should be trying to help these people, not encouraging it. |

Kenya’s flag carrier has donated an aircraft to a local high school. Kenya Airways donated an older Boeing 737-700NG to Mang’u High School, located just outside the nation’s capital of Nairobi. Its location resulted in the fuselage having to be taken by truck on an hour-long journey from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, being met with a ceremony on arrival. The school’s headteacher, John Kuria, told The Star that the aircraft would be used to teach students all about the world of aviation, with students also getting lessons analyzing the Kenyan and global aviation markets. Kuria continued that it had been a long process, taking almost three years for the school to acquire the aircraft. The move was granted over a year ago by the nation’s Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary. Murkomen said that he wished “to thank Kenya Airways for this commendable act of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that will inspire hope in the students of Mang’u High School, assist in the modeling of their skills and transform abstract theories into practicable concepts.” While the aircraft was donated in honor of the school’s 100th anniversary, Murkomen also said that the new aircraft would help to model practical issues and visualize scenarios for students looking to pursue a career in aviation. The move is part of a wider program by Kenya Airways, called #WingsOfInnovation, in order to boost the amount of people coming into the industry in Kenya. It’s part of the reason why the airline’s Chief Strategy and Innovation officer, Hellen Mathuka, was in the spotlight at the hand-over event. https://airlinegeeks.com/2025/01/14/kenya-airways-donates-boeing-737-to-local-high-school/# |

It sounds silly, but I feel like so many of them are the way they are because those are the ones who could survive that sort of environment. NAIROBI, Jan 15 (Reuters) - A suspected outbreak of the Marburg virus in northwest Tanzania has infected nine people, killing eight of them, the World Health Organization has said, weeks after an outbreak of the disease was declared over in neighbouring Rwanda. The viral hemorrhagic fever has a fatality rate as high as 88%, and is from the same virus family as the one responsible for Ebola, which is transmitted to people from fruit bats which are endemic to that part of East Africa. The WHO said it received reliable reports of suspected cases in the Kagera region of Tanzania on Jan. 10, with symptoms of headache, high fever, back pain, diarrhoea, vomiting blood, muscle weakness and finally external bleeding. Samples from two patients were awaiting testing at Tanzania's national laboratory for confirmation of the outbreak, WHO said in a statement on Tuesday. The patients' contacts, including healthcare workers, have been identified and were being followed up, WHO reported. The outbreak in Rwanda, which shares a border with Tanzania's Kagera region, infected 66 people and killed 15 before it was declared over on December 20. Marburg virus can spread between people through direct contact or via blood and other bodily fluids of infected people, including contaminated bedding or clothing. An outbreak in the Kagera region in March 2023 killed six people and lasted for nearly two months. https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/suspected-outbreak-marburg-virus-kills-eight-tanzania-who-says-2025-01-15/ |
A Southwest Airlines pilot was arrested shortly before takeoff on Wednesday in Georgia after he allegedly showed up to work intoxicated, police say. New Hampshire resident David Allsop, 52, was arrested at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with driving under the influence. Allsop was apprehended just before Southwest Flight 3772, bound for Chicago, was about to leave Georgia. It departed shortly before 11 a.m., nearly four hours after it was scheduled to takeoff. Southwest told Fox News Digital that it was looking into the incident and that Allsop, whose LinkedIn profile states that he is a pilot, has been “removed from duty.” “We’re aware of a situation involving an Employee on Flight 3772 this morning from Savannah,” the airline said. “The employee has been removed from duty.” Southwest also noted that the flight’s passengers were accommodated onto other flights while Flight 3772 remained grounded. “Customers were accommodated on other flights, and we apologize for the disruption to their travel plans,” a spokesperson said. “There’s nothing more important to Southwest than the safety of our employees and customers.” It is rare, but not unheard of, for a pilot to be arrested or apprehended for excessively drinking before a flight. Last May, Japan Airlines grounded a flight from Dallas to Tokyo after it was discovered that a pilot drank excessively the night before. Although the pilot did not violate the internal guidelines against drinking within 12 hours of departure, Japan Airlines canceled the flight in order to “assess the captain’s physical and mental well-being.” Authorities are actively investigating the incident. https://nypost.com/2025/01/15/us-news/southwest-airlines-pilot-arrested-for-showing-up-to-work-drunk/ |
Tuesday’s vote comes five days after a judge nixed the Biden administration’s attempt to expand Title IX rules to include transgender and gay people to classes protected from sex discrimination in public education. President Biden’s administration attempted to broaden the interpretation of “sex” to encompass “gender identities,” a move that conservative critics contended would have stymied efforts to safeguard women’s sports and other all-female spaces. The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act amends Title IX to ensure that “sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” It further clarifies that sex will be “recognized based solely” on one’s genetics at birth and reproductive biology. A key provision of the bill underscores that recipients of federal funds are allowed to have males train with women provided that “no female is deprived of a roster spot on a team” or scholarship opportunities. Roughly 3% of high school students in the US classify themselves as transgender, per data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At least half of states across the country have pursued similar restrictions on transgender women competing in female sports, according to research from the Movement Advancement Project. Transgender rights had been a hot topic in the 2024 election cycle, with some Democrats identifying it as a factor in their lackluster showing. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), for instance, caused a stir by suggesting that he didn’t want his two daughters “getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete.” Moulton voted against the bill Tuesday, telling Politico it was “not the sort of balanced, fairness-oriented policy I’ve advocated for, and I won’t vote yes on this bill just because it is the first option that comes to the floor.” Trump has previously indicated he would back restrictions intended to safeguard female athletics. https://nypost.com/2025/01/14/us-news/bill-barring-transgender-women-from-girls-sports-clears-the-house/ |
A bill preventing trannies from competing in female sports at schools across the country narrowly cleared the House of Representatives Tuesday. Just two Democrats joined with 216 Republicans in voting for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which states that schools receiving federal funds would violate the law if they “permit a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls.” All 206 “nay” votes came from Democrats. Rep. Don Davis (D-NC) voted “present” while a pair of Texans, Henry Cuellar and Vincente Gonzalez bucked party lines to back the bill. “Common sense is back in charge,” the bill’s co-sponsor, Rep Greg Steube (R-Fla.) declared on X ahead of its passage. “With a soon-to-be Republican trifecta, my bill reflects a mandate from the American people: no men in women’s sports.” Manhattan Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and other Dems denounced the measure as a “cruel attack on transgender children” — with Nadler even suggesting that the measure could allow authorities to subject biological women to “genital examination.” The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, like other legislation the House has taken up early in the 119th Congress, was approved along party lines by the lower chamber in the 118th Congress, only to languish in the Democrat-controlled Senate. The GOP is hopeful that the measure will pass the Republican-controlled Senate and head to President-elect Donald Trump’s desk after he takes office next week. However, the bill requires 60 votes to clear a filibuster. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), a former college football coach, has introduced a Senate version of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act that is co-sponsored by almost three dozen of his GOP colleagues. article continues in next post |
The court was previously told Daizli allegedly approached customers and offered to give them a better rate on a loan before “skimming off the top” of their payment without their knowledge. She is also accused of making fraudulent loan applications to both St George and ANZ banks. Prosecutors allege she was depositing cash payments of $6192.70 (10,000 AUD) into her bank account during the two years she worked for St George. The court was also previously told one of the main alleged victims is a woman in her 80s who had thousands of dollars transferred out of her account through internet banking, which she had never used. Daizli befriended the woman and brought her meals and gifts while allegedly funneling money out of her superannuation account. Daizli is on bail under strict conditions, which include a $650,233.50 (1,050,000 AUD) surety to guarantee she appears in court when required. She is also facing civil proceedings brought by Westpac Bank in relation to her alleged fraud. https://nypost.com/2025/01/14/world-news/alleged-bank-fraudster-tries-to-push-back-upcoming-trial/ |
A glamorous former St. George bank employee has asked for her trial to be shortened, as she continues to fight allegations she swindled hundreds of thousands of dollars from her customers. Sara Daizli is facing 118 charges after she allegedly used her role at the bank to transfer customers’ funds into fake accounts and to fake customers between February 2016 and December 2018. Daizli allegedly used the funds to fund her lavish lifestyle, with her Instagram page flooded with photos of designer clothes, handbags, and private jet trips. The 34-year-old denies the charges, however, faced an Australian court on Tuesday in a bid to reduce the four-month estimate of the trial which was set to begin on February 3. Daizli’s lawyer argued his client was unable to afford the legal costs associated with a trial of that length. “She will either need time to prepare a financial plan or to vacate the trial date,” her lawyer said. Her lawyer also requested to be heard on the possibility of a judge-only trial. Judge Julia Baly said she would not make a decision without the two co-accused men in the matter also present – standing the matter over until January 29. “Then we can have all the points and all the prayers,” Judge Baly said. The crown prosecutor told the court the case was “highly complex” and, however, would work to deliver the court a summarised version of the current case, in hopes of reducing the trial length by half. “We will work expeditiously to get it done,” he said. article continues in next post

Some people are trying to say that these inmate firefighters are getting a good deal with this little program, which is just ridiculous. Most of these guys shouldn't be in prison in the first place. Their suffering and desperation were engineered by the same people profiting from their cheap labor. And this program is crumbs. It's not like they're leaving prison with a degree. Even if they were, they're still being abused to get that. |
This reminds me of how the cops keep letting super violent criminals out when there's no legal explanation. Before it wasn't clear to me why they were doing it, but now it seems like they're doing it to get "tough on crime" laws passed to fill prisons, increase the time spent there, and make money off these men/women/children. Before they just focused on the politicians and judges, but there's been a lot more awareness and pressure against absurd laws (that don't even reduce crime) and sentencing. Furthermore, crime is down everywhere. So now they're trying to raise crime and terrify people, and cops are pretty easy to buy. And you know, even if you ignore the absurd laws and racism, they're still engineering a situation where people become desperate. They deliberately take resources from education, job programs, and etc. and put it in prisons. It couldn't be more obvious and evil. |

Black Americans are incarcerated at nearly five times the rate of Whites, new report on state prisons finds https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/13/politics/black-latinx-incarcerated-more/index.html Racial Disparities Persist in Many U.S. Local Jails https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/issue-briefs/2023/05/racial-disparities-persist-in-many-us-jails https://naacp.org/resources/criminal-justice-fact-sheet 5% of illicit drug users are African American, yet African Americans represent 29% of those arrested and 33% of those incarcerated for drug offenses. African Americans and whites use drugs at similar rates, but the imprisonment rate of African Americans for drug charges is almost 6 times that of whites.ETA: “There has been a fair amount of activity both this year, and really the last two years, within state legislatures on adjustments to sentencing reform,” Damon Hininger, CoreCivic’s CEO, who has political aspirations in Tennessee, said in an earnings call last month. Hininger said he expected this development to lead to “pretty significant increases” in prison populations — good news for the prison company, which is often paid by how many inmates are housed in prison at a given time. Already, he said, higher occupancy rates in CoreCivic-managed prisons had led to, in turn, “strong financial results” for investors. Governor Lee signed a bill that will largely end early release from prison, which inmates were able to earn through participation in educational programming and maintaining a clean record in the system. The company now runs four of the state’s fourteen prisons by routing contracts through counties rather than the state. Together, the value of those four contracts exceeds $200 million. Lobbying records from last year indicate that CoreCivic has a small army of eight lobbyists working on its behalf in Tennessee’s state house.https://jacobin.com/2024/06/private-prisons-sentencing-law-lobbying |
According to stats from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, 395 imprisoned firefighters have been deployed to 29 crews fighting the Palisades Fire. Santa Ana winds in Southern California are helping to spread and fuel the various fires, making containment a constant struggle. As of Monday, the Lidia, Woodley, and Sunset fires have been fully contained. The Hurst Fire is 89 percent contained, while the Eaton fire is 33 percent contained. By far the largest threat is the Palisades Fire, which has spread out to 23,700 acres and has exhibited “extreme fire behavior.” The fire is 13 percent contained. A red flag warning — a National Weather Service alert indicating that conditions are ideal for wildfires — is in effect until Wednesday, meaning more fires could crop up as firefighting efforts continue. Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said on Thursday that the current line of wildfires burning near LA is one of the most destructive natural disasters in the city’s history. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/inmates-firefighters-wildfires-california-incarcerated-wages-b2678652.html

Inmate firefighters are trained at one of the state Department of Corrections’ more than 30 “fire camps,” which are essentially minimum security prison camps doubling as firefighter schools. The camps are commonly referred to as Conservation Camps. While the program provides trained firefighters to California authorities at a time when they’re most needed, it isn’t without its detractors. The top criticism is that the program is too close to slavery to be ethically acceptable. Using prisoners as labor is actually protected in the 13th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The relevant portion reads as follows: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” “Except as punishment” for a conviction is the operative phrase giving prisons the green light to make their prisoners work. NPR reports that some inmate firefighters struggle to find jobs in the field once they’re out of prison, though California does have programs in place to help inmates who went through the Conservation Camps to find work, and Governor Gavin Newsom passed a law that makes it easier for inmate firefighters to have their records expunged once they’ve served and been released. California is one of 14 states that uses inmates to help fight fires. article continues in next post |
Nearly 400 inmates are among the 14,000 emergency responders working on the wildfires that have destroyed at least 2,000 buildings and killed at least seven in the Los Angeles area. At present, inmates are believed to make up approximately 30 percent of the state’s firefighting force, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Wildfires are a constant and formidable challenge for California, and CDCR conservation fire camps remain dedicated to supporting the state’s response,” Jeff Macomber, secretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said in a statement this week. “The work of our incarcerated firefighters and staff is an essential part of this effort, and their commitment to protecting lives and property during these emergencies cannot be overstated.” The practice isn’t new; California has been using inmate firefighters since as far back as 1915, and began a fire camp program to properly train the inmates in firefighting methods began in 1946, according to Forbes. The arrangements is about as consensual as an agreement between a jailer and a prisoner can get; no inmates are forced to join the firefighting crews, and all who join do so of their own free will. Any inmates who want to join must meet the program’s qualifications, which take into account physical ability as well as their behavioral record behind bars. For example, participants must have eight years or less on their sentence, and certain convictions — such as sex offenses or arsons — disqualify them from participation. The inmates are paid, though it’s a pitifully small amount — approximately $27 for an entire 24-hour shift. They’re also provided food in the form of sandwiches and fruit. article continues in next post |
