It has been a condemnation galore ever since the distinguished honorable senator Ayogu Eze honoured the bazaar invitation of the Adoration ministry Enugu. Cacophonous taunts has refuse to die down. Everyone is squiring up for a wrestling match with the Reverend Father for what they termed 'anti-Catholic' or rather anti-party(PDP) activities. The alleged straw that broke the Camel's back was the fact that Senator Ayogu and his entourage comprising of Kano state governor, Mallam Ganduje and other Muslims were received by the fiery priest instead of being driven away for either being Muslims or belonging to APC. This is utterly ridiculous and unbecoming of the PDP and the 'aggrieved' Christians. This is the height of political and religious fanaticism from our people. How do we expect the rest of the country to take us any serious with this brazen display of intolerance? Another scenario that allegedly added salt to the injury was the fact that the priest talked down on the vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Mr Peter Obi. They found it to be an unforgivable offence for allegedly embarrassing Mr Obi but gave the Kano state governor, a Muslim, a rousing welcome. The PDP should realize that they are on a self destruct mission if they go ahead with the victim and religious card that they have embarked on. There's something I want to make clear: Mbaka though a priest has the constitutional rights of participating in politics. Whoever he endorses must not be seen as a heavenly revelation but on a personal perception. I also disagreed with him when he lambasted Jonathan, but calling him names is entirely out of place. Among his congregation are APC, APGA, SDP and PDP members. How on earth do you expect him to take sides with a particular party without stepping on the toes of the rest of his congregation? Please we should do away with sentiment and desist from roping religion into politics. I'm a Christian of roman Catholic denomination but when it comes to politics and social issues, I'm at the liberty of either agreeing or disagreeing with the opinion of the priests but talking down on them, aka m adiro ya!! Being a priest or pastor doesn't take away the humanity in you, they are not infallible neither are they barred from holding a personal opinion. Yes Mbaka needs all the money he yearns for. Apart from being an employer of labor, he has many orphaned kids under his responsibility. Their feeding, medical and education bills, he singlehandedly shudders them. At least he doesn't cruise around in private jets neither do he own expensive rides. Whatever fund he receives goes back to the society via his numerous charity and humanitarian services. Being a bazaar occasion, this is the official church window to solicit for funds either for church projects or for the sake of his hundreds of orphaned kids. I thank Mr Peter Obi for handling the issue with utmost maturity as a prospective national leader. I urge his followers to emulate him and stop crying more than the bereaved. The church of God is a place for all irrespective of political and social affiliation. By creating a scene from the incidence at the adoration ground, we are indirectly sending a message to the rest of the country on the level of our intolerance. No politician has successfully fought the church. The case of Ikedi Ohakim should serve as an example. Before subscribing to our respective religious belief, we are humans and Igbo men. |
Trash!!!!!!! Enugu wasn't a theatre of war when they took over. If Ugwuanyi likes, he can relocate to Aso rock when he returns from Poland, he's moving out of the Lion building. |
The state government of Enugu in yet another exhibition of her trademark tactlessness and political obtuseness, has declared open a seven day fasting and prayer session in what they said was for a peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections. Briefing newsmen at the Campaign office in Enugu, the Director-General of the Organization, Dr. Charles Egumgbe, disclosed that the praying and fasting exercise will commence on Saturday, December 1 and end on Friday, December 7. Dr. Egumgbe stated that the decision was “in keeping with our tradition of entrusting the affairs of the state to the hands of God”. He also urged the people of the state “to pray for issue-based, smooth and successful campaigns in the state” Now this the height of embarrassment that the good people of Enugu state have been made to go through on daily basis. The incumbent government keeps making caricature of the people thus making us an object of ridicule before the rest of states. Are they conceding or sensing defeat already that they had to whip up religious sentiment to curry sympathy from the unsuspecting masses? Are we supposed to be fasting instead of enjoying the dividends of democracy as enshrined in the constitution of the country? Are we not fasting already as a result of the government's incompetence? Pensioners are unofficially fasting and gnashing their teeth as their gratuities and other emoluments are being withheld by the PDP led state government. When Fulani herders massacred the people of Nimbo in Uzo uwani, our governor instead of putting up security measures to track, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the dastardly act, imposed fasting and prayer on the mourning and wailing people of Nimbo. Till date, none of the perpetrators was brought to book and the herdsmen became emboldened that they are wrecking havoc in the state without hindrance. Is fasting and prayer session supposed to build and equip hospitals so the masses can have access to quality healthcare? Instead of imposing fasting and prayer on the already starving masses and exposing them to ulcer and other illness associated with starvation, the PDP led state government ought to have put up some palliative measures to ameliorate the suffering the masses are going through. At the end of the seven days fasting and prayer session, are we going to miraculously have our roads tarred? Are we going to see dilapidated school structures rebuilt so kids can discontinue learning under mango trees and under the scorching sun? Is the fasting and prayer session going to credit the bank account of pensioners that are dying of hunger? Wait a minute! Is the prayer session meant to hypnotize the disenchanted electorates in to voting them again despite their lacklustre performance? I don't still get it, is the religious exercise meant to dissuade the shortchanged and aggrieved PDP members from dumping the party like a sinking ship? Are we going to see the miscarriage-causing potholes on the Obollo-9th Mile road miraculously filled and worked on? The PDP should just quit the shenanigans and leave quietly instead being made to go through the disgraceful fate of being frog-jumped out of the Lion building. |
Henry115:In which aspect is Gburu better than Ayogu? |
bubu2019:Are you comparing an executive governor of a state to a mere senator that exercised only but a legislative power? Do you also remember the same Gburu spent 12 years as a rep member without any achievement? Are you among the peeps he recruited to be disseminating falsehood? |

By Odoh Ugochukwu. Growing up as a kid, I still recollect vividly how we gathered in the night for moonlight tales. The session took place only when the moon shined to the delight of every kid who in return, hurriedly rounded with house chores. The tales were meant to impact considerable amount of knowledge and discipline in to the kids and reshape their morality and act of respect to the parents. Decades after the wonderful experience, tales synonymous with the ones we shared as kids are finding their way back under some unusual circumstances. Ever since elections and electioneering activities drew closer, we have been hearing varying forms of tales emanating from the PDP camps. One would have given the PDP camps a rousing applause only if they were kind enough to dish the tales under the moonlight so they could be celebrated for their efforts towards the revitalization of folklore and moonlight tales. The disturbing scenario however is that, adults and the young are gathering under the scorching sun to listen to tales best told under the moonlight after the kids must have been done with their chores. It has been an allegation galore from the PDP camps, notably disgusting and irritating among them is the accusations that the opposition party in the state(APC) breeds herders-farmers clash and other security lapses in the states they control and thus shouldn't be voted in the state. The audacious disposition with which the initiators tell such mendacious stories to the public is akin to walking up to the American president in a bid to swindle him. For clarity purpose, the herdsmen activities predates both the PDP and and APC as a political party and thus defies all logic when the clash is politicized or blamed on a particular political party. The clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Nigeria periodically erupt for several consecutive years and each time take dozens of human lives. The cause of the clashes is the lack of land that one side uses as arable land, the other for pastures. In 2014(before the coming of APC), according to the Global Terrorism Index report, Fulani militants killed more than 1,200 people and then headed the list of the most fanatical terrorist groups in the region, according to the BBC. Between 2013 and 2016 more than 50 attacks linked to herdsmen, have been launched in Benue state alone. Samuel Ortom- Governor of the state, says the violence made the anti-open grazing law necessary. The ugly trend of politicizing our security lapses should be frowned at. No political political party 'manufactures' insecurity. Despite Enugu state being a PDP state since the advent of democracy, the state has witnessed series of herdsmen clashing with farmers. The highlight of the herdsmen heinous activities in the state was the massacre at Nimbo, Uzo-uwani local government. Other strings of clashes were also recorded after the killings in Nimbo. If no political party was fingered for being behind the dastardly acts of the herdsmen, there's no logic behind the 'sunlight tales' being bandied about by the PDP in a bid to score cheap political point and curry sympathy from the unsuspecting masses. The incompetence of a state governor shouldn't be blamed on the political party he's representing nor generalized to appear like a party affair. The fact that a certain state is not performing pretty well shouldn't be made the yardstick to measure other states nor candidates being under same political umbrella. Neither the PDP nor the APC breeds insecurity. |

No, I mean this.... |
It was a Monday morning in the metropolitan city of Enugu state. I was rushing back to my base after seeing out an encounter with a business partner. While trekking to the motor park, foul stench oozed out of the numerous mountainous refuse dumps located virtually at every strategic places in the city. As I maneuvered my way pass the waterlogged and slippery road, behold was a site of a man comfortably emptying the bowl inside the gutter. In a moment of shock, I gazed at him unconsciously and the man roared "Oga na wetin, you wan chop shit"? I hurriedly crossed over to the other lane before he deface me with an early morning feces. Arriving at the Gariki motor park, I was at the mercy of touts who brushed, kicked and bundled me into the vehicle in a commando style. Initially, I thought I had fallen into the hands of kidnappers because I was left with bruised wrists and lips. Panting and sweating inside the vehicle, I decided to remove my jacket only to discover that my wallet, phones and wristwatch have all gone. I immediately became anxious to leave the city before more terrible fate befall me so I began shouting at the driver to hasten up so we can start the journey. The driver later mounted the steering, but not after he unzipped his trouser and urinated under the public glare. I started asking asking myself if this is still the Enugu state I know. The Enugu that I know has no history of touts and other unwholesome public demeanor. Who took the flares and sparks associated with the ancient city of Enugu? Before the coming of this incumbent government, Enugu was an epitome of serenity and cleanliness. Back then, the moment you enter Enugu, you will be forced to be a gentleman courtesy of the nature of the environment. Traffic lights manned the city traffic. No commuter dared go against the traffic light nor drive against traffic. Enugu had both mechanized and manual road sweepers. Dirt's were evacuated promptly. There were no sorry sites of refuse dumps in the entire city. Travellers were strongly advised not to drop trash from the vehicle as drivers were mandated to have a trash can in the vehicle. The beautiful structures the previous governments put in place have all become dilapidated. Mentally challenged men now dangerously roam the streets of Enugu. Oh!! Enugu where is thy glory!! The city now lies in ruins. The hitherto heartbeat of the Eastern region now lives on past glory. How did we end up here?? The city has been defaced with billboards and indiscriminate pasting of posters. Even Aba under the leadership of Theodore Orji is now better than Enugu state in waste management and infrastructure. Enugu is dying slowly while everyone looks elsewhere. Who will save the moribund economy of the state? Who will paddle the state to safety? Who will chase flies coming from refuse dumps away from our foods? Who will restore the sanity and discipline that has been the trademark of the state ab initio? I have the conviction that ENUGU SHALL BE GREAT AGAIN!!. |
I thought they said na Buhari dey send herdsmen... |

enyi1:Awarding and flagging off of a project isn't the issue but the funding. How many times have the government flagged off the construction of the famous Easg-West road? Like I stated earlier, you can't accuse one of embezzlement without establishing how much he was given and how much he embezzled. Its even ridiculous that the person being accused is neither the project contractor nor the then minister for works. |
Jac007:What are you talking about? Discuss the topic and stop being sentimental. |
. I read with awe a malicious, spurious and diversionary write up on the Facebook wall of one Ene Victor Chukwudi that the distinguished senator, Senator Ayogu Eze embezzled both FERMA(federal road maintenance agency) funds and the one budgeted by the then ministry of works for the construction of a federal road project. The said article or rather fabrication, was concocted by one Mr Jackson Ude. A quick survey showed that the same Mr Jackson Ude was behind a blog named Pointblanknews.com that carried similar malicious fabrication against the person of the then coordinating minister, Mrs Okonjo Iweala. It's on record that the minister never hesitated dragging the blogger to court where the court awarded the sum of #20m against the blogger for fabricating libellous information meant to tarnish the image of the minister. After reading the disjointed article typical of one written under duress, I advised Mr Ene to pull it down. Sadly, few hours after the chat, the police acting on a petition by an aide to the Anambra state governor, arrested Mr Ene for character assassination. On the allegation proper, the honorable senator was accused of embezzling funds allocated to FERMA for road maintenance nationwide. With all sincerity, any discerning mind should be able to deduce the inscription on the wall and see the allegation to be a mere political gimmick and nothing but a figment of the initiator's imagination. Getting the record straight, senator Ayogu was never a managing director of the federal road maintenance agency. How these people that have decided to carve a niche in mischief making came to the conclusion that the Senator embezzled funds allocated to a different agency could be expatiated by them. Again, they accused the honorable gentleman of embezzling funds meant for the construction of the Ogrute-Umuida-Odoru federal road. It's regrettably sardonic that a leader who fought tirelessly for the betterment of his people is being accused wrongly in the name of partisan politics. The said project that the mischief makers are using as a tool to tarnish the good image of the Senator was attracted by him. This is sacrilegious and an ugly trend unprecedented in Igbo land. In Igbo land, we do not repay a good deed with evil acts. It seems that what actually got the senator's traducers 'aroused' was the fact that he headed the senate committee on works, which they are now using as a gambit to launch vituperations on his person. For avoidance of doubt, the senate committee on works is one of the 57 Senate committees solely saddled with an OVERSIGHT FUNCTION. The office of the committee chairmen are not funded to execute projects. The said road project was attracted by the honorable senator, captured and appropriated under the ministry of works, awarded to a contractor named PW Nigeria limited and funded by the ministry of finance. Why is the growing popularity and acceptance of Ayogu Eze by many well meaning people of the state unsettling the camp of the incumbent government that they are hellbent on roping him into the abandoning of a federal road project? Have they established from the ministry of works how much was appropriated for the project and how much was released by ministry of finance to ascertain if the project was adequately funded? Is the state government implying that, in any abandoned project, funds have been embezzled? Can we now rightly posit that with the avalanche of the state government abandoned projects, that the funds meant their for completion has been embezzled? Opposition is and will never be madness. Ayogu Eze is unperturbed; neither will he be distracted in his quest to cleanse the state and restore it to the part of glory. The gimmicks of praise singers, whose lips have been paid for to disseminate falsehood will never deter us from telling the people the truth in our faintest voice. ENUGU SHALL BE GREAT AGAIN!!
|
Ugwuanyi should continue to waste state resources on paid media team for image laundry. Na we the masses go vote not the city media men. If he's not afraid, why sponsor up to four PDP men to purchase APC ticket in a bid to scuttle the chance of Ayogu? Since he failed, they have resorted to fabrication that he embezzled funds meant for road construction. This is iberiberism taken too far!! A senator being accused of embezzling funds given to a road contractor?? |
In total, the man got #115,000 after his son died over political activities. Lesson to the living!!! |
Juchii:It will be an understatement to liken the type of politics played here to cultism. They are like terrorist ever ready to kill to have their way. They are busy dishing out threats to the opposition having seen that their chance of winning via rigging is becoming slim on daily basis. |
Juchii:Ifeanyi and his Nrashi team will be booted out come next year. I'm from Enugu Ezike and I can tell you, the man has fallen out of favor with the people. |
Wastage.... What about using that strategic site to build a tourist centre/park, mall, etc that will yield revenues to the government? Why add to the recurrent expenditures of the state? How will we explain to the next generation that we used that such a beautiful site within the centre of the city for "guest houses" ? About 9yrs ago Peter Obi as the governor of Anambra state refused to build a presidential lodge in Awka despite appeals by the then President Obasanjo insisting that Awka has hotels that is good enough for the president each time he visits. Guests to government houses should be able to take care of their stay. The accommodation bills are included in the travel allowances and estacodes of these "guests". This will reduce the cost on the lean resources of the government. Enugu expectedly should be the hub of the east and as such private businesses should be encouraged to thrive. Visitors to Enugu should patronize the hotels, eateries, joints etc and are not to be caged in one govt guest house with an over inflated bills on the government. Enugu cannot afford this wastefulness of government. |
