Seconsol92:With the rot going on Enugu? We must be in the left hand side of the gods. |
Unable to upload the image of the governor smiling/laughing at the ailing music icon. |

By Odoh Ugochukwu. It's no longer news that ever since Senator Ayogu Eze out of his philanthropic nature paid the ailing music icon an unannounced visit, other desperate politicians have turned the old man to a new political bride in the state. They are now frequenting the house of the music icon like his daughters suddenly become ripe for marriage. To the desperate politicians, anywhere the woman choose to develop breast, the baby must suck it. They are ready to capitalize on any situation to project their political images and ambitions. What happened yesterday portrayed the incumbent government as a jealous co-wife that can not stand the site of his co-wife getting close to their husband. Senator Ayogu on hearing of Mike's deteriorating health, decided to pay him an unannounced visit. It was such a modest visit that his media teams weren't informed of the visit. Upon hearing of the Senator's visit, the incumbent government mobilized and headed for the house of the music icon like they all just woke up from sleep. Within a short while, the internet was agog with images of the governor's visit. We were shown images of the governor smiling and positioning for photographs. Was he actually smiling at the misery of the music icon? While the Senator was caught up in action showing the ailing music icon love and compassion without really noticing the presence of the camera men and others, Ugwuanyi could be seen displaying for a photoshoot with him in a demonstration of sheer opportunism. The governor never showed that he was really touched by the Man's health condition, what was depicted was the image of a man in a competition. He did, not out of love but because his opponent did and he needed to cash in on the Man's misery to further his ambition. If this is not wickedness, I wonder the appropriate word to classify it. However, unfortunately for the governor, by the time he arrived Mike's house with his characteristic large entourage and paparazzi, the prayers and blessings of Ejeagha had gone out to Senator Ayogu. The governor(outgoing) seems to be aware of the growing disenchantment from the general public over his below par performance hence his resolve to seek endorsement from anywhere possible, even from deranged men at Ebeano tunnel. A state where pensioners are languishing in abject penury, with no hope of gratuity payment, we expected the governor to have taken care of the pensioners that are about hitting the streets in protest. The moment I saw series of images from the rather hypocritical visit, I waved it off for having numerous political undertone. How did we find ourselves in the hands of political desperados? How did we end up in the hands of heartless men that can play politics with the lives of the people they sworn to protect? The choice is here again before Enugu people. The choice between a desperado that sees every situation as a launchpad to his political ambitions and that of a selfless and compassionate leader with a godly heart. Pictures speak louder!! While one is an ecstatic mood, one is not. |

The governor of Enugu state has been praised for the prompt and impressive salary payment record of the state. Many have cited such gesture to be the reason the governor must be reelected to 'continue the good works'. However, I can't help but develop goosebumps when I come across such discussion. Yes the state has been able to keep a good salary payment record but is it really the making of the state government? Enugu State passed the 2017 Appropriation Bill of #105.7 billion, but generated #22 billion as IGR(Internally Generated Revenue), meaning the state is dependent on the federal government for survival and the so called 'impressive salary payment record' as it received #61b as her statutory federal allocation. Despite the huge allocation, the state was still unable to function properly and had to be among the States that were bailed out by the federal government on several occasions. As at late 2015, Enugu state government received the sum of #10b as bail out fund from the federal government to offset the backlog of workers salaries. Yet, as at December 2016 the state also received the sum of #9.9b from the Paris refund made available by the federal government. It's also on record that the state as at December 2017 received another trench of #800m as bail out fund to offset the backlog of workers salaries as the state slid into the list of states with chronic salary debt. So I ask again, who takes the glory for the so called excellent salary payment record of Enugu state? |
That has been the trademark slogan of people that have tightly fitted their survival on the gross incompetence of the PDP-led state government. They shiver, tremble and in extreme cases develop epilepsy upon hearing of the opposition taking over the affairs of the state. This they do not because of the general interest of the people, but the interest of their pockets. They have taken the state government purse to be their only source of survival, such that they are ready to fight dirty to ensure their mouth isn't removed from the breast. They have looted and embezzled the funds meant for public sustenance such that the masses are left with no other option than to protest. Unfortunately to them, they can no longer suppress the various dissident voices as usual. Their wings have been 'de-feathered' and clipped at the federal level. They no longer have influence on the security apparatus hence they have resorted to wailing and groining at any slightest chance. Oh, it's a pity. I can feel their pains. A chronic looter will do just anything to cover his tracks and carry on with the unwholesome trade. The masses are wiser now. The thieving government no longer dictates to the masses on which political platform to pitch tent with. Their efforts into brainwashing the masses to lay much emphasis on political platform have been thwarted by the poor performance of various PDP States. Tell them to account for the funds accruing to the state and local government coffers, and watch them scream witch-hunt on top of their voices in a bid to curry public sympathy. The decades of PDP rule made the Onitsha-Enugu expressway a death trap. Hundreds lost their lives to the horrendous state of the road. Successive PDP government came and left without any move to ameliorate the plights of the road users. On various occasions, the road got awarded and elaborate ceremony held to flag off the rehabilitation. But as was the tradition, the project never saw the light of the day. Can the PDP led government of Enugu state tour the said road again to see the present state of it courtesy of the same APC party they have been telling us to avoid at all cost? I'm not championing the course of any political platform, but telling the masses to avoid a particular platform when you don't have anything better on the table is illogical. The road leading to my house gets submerged after few minutes of rainfall courtesy of the PDP government. Tell me the reason I shouldn't seek alternate measures to solve my problems. |

The voguing trend this days is the bastardization of government solidarity groups. One of the by-product of such ignominious trend is the equally ignominious UGWUANYI PRAYER GROUP. Perhaps the group is saddled with the responsibility of praying away the governor's sins, securing the vicinity of the Lion building from witches and wizards, praying for the teeming dissident voices of the government to have a change of heart, purifying the various election materials with spiritual materials like incense, olive oil and holy waters. Of course prayer has been traditionally said to be the master key, with which to access anything and anywhere. The yardstick however remains the pious state of the prayer warriors and that of the beneficiary for it's written in the scripture that the prayer of the unrighteous is nothing but a mere noise to the ears of the Almighty. Let's read from the scripture for clarity purpose: John 9:31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. Proverbs 28:9 If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. 1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Having scripturally proven that the prayer of the unrighteous is nothing but a mere noise to the ears of the Almighty, let's examine the pious state of the prayer warriors and that of the beneficiary. The fact that the prayer groups only exists during election period casts a huge doubt on their genuineness of intent. Their action is more or less that of a sycophant looking to to cash in on government desperation for power. Now to the beneficiary, being nepotistic and orchestrating the highest form of segregation in the history of Enugu state is a 'bigger sin' on it's own, thus disqualifies him from the category of men with answerable prayers. Let it be known that marginalization and incompetence are sins before the Almighty. Marginalization and incompetence leads to a dearth of infrastructure such as hospitals and in extension, lack of access to quality healthcare. Lack of access to quality healthcare is automatically a recipe for child mortality, deaths and general health complications. The Almighty has proven to be a God of justice. So any leader with a record of injustice, partiality, marginalization and favoritism has already sinned and automatically come short of glory of God. |

bonnylight003:Why don't you keep shut for Enugu people to comment |
nnachukz:I tell you, almost all communities in Enugu state are in turmoil over the government largesse. Recall that an Igwe was mobbed by his people because of this particular issue |
Lalasticlala mynd44 come and do justice to my thread |
Where I come from, the traditional rulers are the latest millionaires in town. They cruise around town in expensive rides, commune and mingle with the most polished and endowed ladies in town, old houses are demolished to pave way for the latest and most befitting edifice of a Royal figure. Sadly, poor chickens are made to bear the brunt of their new found affluence and status as they are exterminated to provide enough meat to keep their Royal teeth busy all day long. I was riding the old CG125 my father inherited from his father when a car overtook me in a neck-brraking speed. I nearly veered off the road as the car splashed and riddled my cloth with dirty water. All I could decipher from the vehicle plate number was HRH(his Royal highness). The driver was obviously beaming with highness from a Royal drink. Do you blame him?? The government that chose to empower the Igwes at the detriment of the communities is to be blamed. Who no like better things?? The government of Enugu state doled out a whooping #10m to each and every traditional ruler in the state for them to execute projects in their respective community. Who else doles out cash to individuals with clandestine cabinet members with no recourse to accountability if not a politician strengthening his tight grips on the electorates as elections are around the corner. What a prudent government devoid of dirty politics should have done is to ask the communities to name a project within the earmarked amount for him to execute. Now that no projects are sighted, who dares venture in to a palace for the Igwe to account for the largesse?? The spirit of the ancestors in collaboration with amadioha will be invoked on anyone that will dare. |
I'm finding it difficult to upload the ungodly payment receipt issued to people over here |
While resting on the bed, noise and whistling started to emanate from the front yard. I thought perhaps a 'friendly' masquerade has come to pay homage since it was an Orie market day. "Bring your NEPA bill" said one of the 'officials' I then emerged from the room to greet the 'EEDC employees', behold was a childhood friend. "When did you secure employment with the EEDC" I asked enthusiastically. "I no understand" he replied. "I mean how did you manage to secure employment with Enugu DISCO" I asked joyously. "We are not here to dance DISCO, we are the youths of the town and here to collect the #1,000 monthly light bill" he said. His 'youthful colleague' armed with pliers and tape for disconnection was already feeling restless as I made to inquire how they arrived at the uniform price of #1,000 per house irrespective of electrical appliances and the number of hours light was restored. I want to use this medium to appeal to the Enugu state commissioner of rural development Mr Gabriel Onwuzuluike and the state rural electrification board headed by our own Eng. Simon Atigwe to wade into this matter so as to address this anomaly. Villagers are made to pay through the nose in the hands of the youths of the town. A certain neighbor whose house has only one bulb is made to cough out #1000 on monthly basis even when the community hardly boast of one week of electricity per month. Leaving the affairs of unmetered rural buildings solely in the hands of the village youths is a recipe for extortion and all manners of corruption. |
While I slugged it out with the bouncer, my eyes were fixed at the food that were wasting away on the ground. Effortlessly, I was overpowered and dragged out of the premises like an evil child. As I made to find my way, the busy body gate man echoed "oga you wan forget your car parked at the mechanic workshop" I gave him a wicked and disapproving glance and legged it down the street. "could it be that I didn't raise my voice when I prayed in the morning" I murmured as I couldn't wrap my head around the genesis of such disaster in a single day. Left with no money and almost looking frail and famished, I flagged down a keke Nepep. "carry me go Mgbagbuwowa junction" I said to the keke man. "oga your money na #200" he replied immediately. I knew quite well that I do not have a dime on me but what will I do? I embarked and sat majestically at the back seat like a car owner. "common take it easy, do you want to rupture my testicles" I lashed out at the rider as he manoeuvred and negotiated with pot holes on a high speed. I almost vented my frustration on him as he galloped on high speed. As we were about approaching Mgbabguowa junction I asked him "come do you have a POS machine with you there" "yes oga I have two of them" he replied. "what!!! what are you using two POS machine for in an ordinary keke business" I lashed out at him in frustration. Sensing trouble that I may not be able to outsmart the keke guy and disappear without paying him, I asked again. "do you have #1000 change with you there because I don't trust you and POS machines" He again replied in the affirmative and I realized my game may be up. I then asked him to stop so I can urinate. As he stopped, I disembarked and unzipped my trouser and pleaded with urine to come out. Fortunately the urine started flowing like the river Jordan and the keke guy took away his concentration from me. Immediately I realized I was no longer watched, I jumped the gutter and took my heels. |

Left at the graveside all alone, Ugo wept bitterly like he realized his father just died. He knelt down beside his father's grave and said "father forgive us all our sins and neglect we meted on you. How could we have neglected you to the point of death. The money that eluded you has located us all. If we are privileged to be your children in the next world, we will right our wrongs" he concluded before being dragged away from the graveside by sympathizers. The promise made to a corpse is useless. Take care of people while they lived for the moment they closed their eyes, your efforts will be in futility. Chioma in the course of observing the traditional mourning method never bathed nor changed clothes for a four market days. On the completion of the mourning exercise was a ritual made to 'separate the dead husband from herself' Death is guilty as charged, the dead are never Innocent for they can not prove their innocence. On the fourth day of the mourning exercise, chioma had her hairs shaved. The clothes she wore removed and set ablaze. The mat she laid on while mourning also set ablaze. An empty calabash was broken right in the middle of the compound. These are the rituals required to unofficially divorce/separate the living from the dead. After few weeks stay at the village, chioma and her children went back to the city. Two years after John's demise, Chioma remarried and that heralded the end of John's era. John in your next world while taking care of your kids, plan on how to take care of yourself at the later days. Children have proven to be more and naturally sentimentally attached to their mothers. Man seems to be naturally made to toil, procreate and pave way(die) for the wife and kids to enjoy the wealth. So as you toil, do not deprive yourself of the basic things of life. STORY ENDS... |
quinSonia:Coming shortly |
quinSonia:Me too. I don't think the children will be harmed. |
All was set to give John a befitting burial even when he never had a 'befitting' life on earth. For the first time John had the weeds on his compound cleared by his children. Chioma his wife mounted the traditional mourning bed. She's not be seen outside of the room unless she's to take her bath or to empty her bowel. Tradition must be observed with or without a sincere heart, after all the dead have already been stripped of their constitutional and emotional rights. It was an elaborate burial ceremony. Canopies were in their numbers. A cooling van was on ground to give the people a scintillating taste of cold drinks. Foods were in surplus and in different varieties. Cows were killed and butchered to provide the visitors with a busy and occupied teeth throughout their stay with them. Strange enough, vultures never hovered nor perched within the environment despite the fact that cows were slaughtered in their numbers. When it was the time for interring John's corpse, the elders called the children to perform the traditional dust to dust rite by heaping sands into the grave. Ugo the first son was to heap the first sand and offer some words of prayer. Unknown of what to pray for a man they neglected, he burst into tears as their ugly deeds came starring him at face like a television. He continued to weep and the already angry youths shoved him aside and covered the grave with sand and left. |
Look at how this fat man Ugwuunu is causing katakata everywhere. What is wrong with some leaders? Tufia!
