Sounds neat BUT is the name going to attract several interested buyers? Is it for a business site or for a blog? Maybe you should reconsider and buy some other name that will garner more interest.

PoliticsNigeria At 56 - The Real Problem With Nigeria Is Not Corruption, Stupidity Is. by CPriest(op): 5:20am On Dec 15, 2015
I will use two examples to illustrate this. Kenya and Russia.

Transparency International commonly bandied around in Nigerian media to say just how corrupt we are. But I was awakened to a rude reality today which got me shaking as I made the assertion that the problem with Nigeria is NOT corruption but stupidity.

The same TI which most of us know and we use to call ourselves the most corrupt nation (a wrong fact, we are not even in the 10 most corrupt league) has a table for perceived corruption index. See https://www.transparency.org/cpi2014/results . This is a very recent index.

With a score of 27 out of 100 (100 means no corruption), we have the honour of sharing the score with Cameroon, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, and Russia; our equally corrupt brothers Russia and Iran are significantly more developed. Kenya scored 25 out of 100 (in short they seem more corrupt than us), and Zimbabwe 2 out of 100.

Since Kenya is an African nation, it is more justifiable to compare African with African. And by T.I, Kenya is more corrupt than Nigeria.

Literacy rate by UNESCO in 2015 -
Kenya 78%
Nigeria 56%

Gender difference for Kenya 6.5%. For Nigeria 19.5 (More illiterates overall in Nigeria than in Kenya and more illiterate females in Nigeria than Kenya).

Unemployment rate
Kenya 9.2%
Nigeria 7.6%
http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SL.UEM.TOTL.ZS

Infant mortality
Kenya 64.72 deaths per 1000 births.
Nigeria 96.14 deaths per 1000 births

Where to be born index (Quality of life index)
Kenya 7.32
Nigeria 2.99
A higher rate is better here. For instance South Africa has a Quality of Life of 110.92. So better life exists in Kenya than in Nigeria.

Quality of Infrastructure
Kenya - 3.2
Nigeria - Nigeria didn't even rank. Our infrastructure is that poor!
http://www.statista.com/statistics/264753/ranking-of-countries-according-to-the-general-quality-of-infrastructure/

Spending on Education (% of GDP spent on education, 2012 figures)
Kenya - 6.7%
Nigeria - - (Didn't rank again?)
http://hdr.undp.org/en/content/expenditure-education-public-gdp

To cap, the Human Development Index (higher is better)
Kenya 0.535
Nigeria 0.504

And considering the fact that Nigeria's 2015 GDP is $493 billion USD, and Kenya's is $63 billion - Nigeria's economy is about 8 times Kenya's, it is amazing that Kenya fares better than Nigeria on most counts (even though T.I says Kenya is more corrupt than Nigeria).

Here on Nairaland (@Pavore9) said "Love d intellectual write up, far from burning energy on PDP vs APC! lt is common to see 33,000 litres tankers on Kenyan highways not filled with petroleum products as we are used to but with fresh milk produced locally, heading to other countries!"

“Stupidity is the same as evil if you judge by the results.” ― Margaret Atwood.

The evil of corruption must cease, but we need something beyond anti-corruption to move the nation forward. We need intelligent and smart leaders. The real problem causing this mess (even corruption) is the low human capital.

From Wikipedia
Human capital is an important factor for the wealth of a nation due to its influence on the overall production of the country. Technological progress can provide more efficient production-methods like machines and computers, but skilled labor is necessary to manage and develop them as well as to improve the quality and productivity of the existing labor. The formation of Nigeria's human capital is therefore of great importance in the coming years if Nigeria wants to be competitive in the future. However, Nigeria is having a problem with its human capital.

The Human Development Index (HDI) provides a measure of human capital development in three dimensions: income, health, and education. The latest values of HDI shows that Nigeria is ranked 156 with the value of 0.459 among 187 countries. The value places Nigeria in the bottom, meaning that Nigeria is considered to have low level of human development.

A whooping $150,000. Sold sometimes in September 2015.

This is what I call smartness. While we are here busy making terms and talking and talking someone capitalized on it and bought 419.com
First registered in 2004 (11 years ago). Wished I was smarter then. But then there are still other opportunities today that will be a big thing tomorrow. I hope to catch on those.

Oh, well in case you want 419.org, the owner wants on 10,000 Euros for it.

Do you have 4110.com huh? Maybe we can sell that.

A very good thread.
What's the minimum start up capital?
Your minimum capital is the amount you spend to acquire your domain name stock. That is a relative outlay. It depends on whether you are starting with names you register by yourself, or you buy an already registered name to resell. In the first case, you can spend about $7.9 to register a domain name in NameSilo, use coupon DOMCOMP (http://www.namesilo.com/register.php?rid=ad08b65uq) on checkout.

@cpriest I have registered the domain. Gonna list it when I have light. I have 16 domains now. A guy asked for the price of one of my domains and I said " I was thinking $500 or what do you think. Do you have a price on mind, let's hear it."
What's ur opinion?
Great that you got it. Good that response is right. Hope you get it sold. Mind telling the name? I could check what similar names sold for.

I will advise not to load yourself with too many names, and I say that from my experience. A few names you can hold until you get people who will buy it at the right price is better.

@paulsir. Nice one. BINs are great for selling domain names sometimes as people can make up their mind and maybe feel safer that a seller isn't being "greedy". Secondly there are more channels promoting fixed price names than "Make Offers".

BusinessRe: Dollars And Nigerians (part 1) - Philosophy Of Making Money Online by CPriest(op): 10:21pm On Dec 13, 2015
Decide.

... And God said "Let us ..."

Making money either online or offline will demand your decision. What decision? A decision to focus on entrepreneurship for instance rather than on paid employment. A decision for a particular business venture rather than the other. A choice for business or a choice to invest in the stock market, and such.

What should motivate your decision?

1. Your decision should be motivated by correct and sound information (research). Sometimes the information may come while reading casually, but I would rather have a decision that comes from a careful analysis of the facts from different angles.

2. Decision should be motivated by your dreams and your passion. I live my life in a way that I won't wake up in future with an "I wish I did that" feeling.

3. Your decision should be motivated by your personal traits and nature. Some call it personal strengths. Your decision should be along your personal strengths. If by a stroke of chance you find yourself doing something on a track that is not according to your strengths, then ensure you formally develop your abilities in that aspect.

What should NOT motivate your decision

1. Deciding to do because others have done or are doing
2. Deciding to do because it is touted as the "next big thing"
3. Deciding to do because you want more money

Agree its better to be in learning mode than wasting money mode. I was once there, and hundreds of dollars were lost.

It is travellodge.org. I would have sent you the screenshot so you see how I fished it out, but I have closed it.
.com, .net, .biz, .info, .us are all registered for that particular domain name.
Not sure about keyword spy. I am my own keyword spy smiley, and I have got more than enough (hundreds of good domains) to register. But you know we are gifted differently. I may check it later and then talk about it.

ajsans:
thank you jammeboy for the question. I wanted to ask same question as well.cpriest please teach us how to use the keyword.please
@ajsans, @jammeyboy

In my own strategy, basing domain name portolio on common (popular) words helps guarantee at least some interest in the name. The more interest a word has, the more interest a domain name based on the word will have. Is it a bit clear?

To my promise, I will examine some domain sales with the various words we chose starting with baby.

11. Quotebaby.com - $89,965 (2011)

12. ModernBaby.com - $55,000 (2012)

13. BabyCity.com - $35,000 (2015)

For travel,

14. Travelo.com - $46,500 (2015)

15. Travel-ticker.com - $23,750 (2015) - And it even has a hyphen? Nice.

16. Travelbucks.com - $20,000 (2015)

I observed the travel keyword has more names sold

17. Projects.com - $82,000 (2015)

18. Projectlife.com - $75,000 (2013)

19. ScienceFairProjects - 33,000 euros

20. craftprojectsfreeinstructions.com - $5000 (29 charactershuh?)

For test

21. Test.net - $40,000 (2013)

22. Hometests.com - $22,000 (2013)

23. Test.hiv - $1,812 (2015)

Ok. Can you guess how to use keywords now? You can search expireddomains or so for this keyword(s) as you earlier said and then select deleted domain names or expiring domain names you thing people will love.

I did and got this travel*** .org (@jammeyboy, this could be nice. Valued at $500+). If you need it let me know.

Did you get anything?
Christianity EtcI'll Preach Today (1) - What Is God Doing About Nigeria by CPriest(op):
Sermon topic - What is God doing with Nigeria?

Prayer - Almighty, I respectfully call on you to speak your word to us today. We have come before you knowing only a little of how great you are by the stories we have read, and the testimonies we have heard. Let your mercy forgive us, and your love heal us. This I ask in Jesus name, Amen.

My Nairalanders, today I have come, not with a sermon to you but with a message which I want us all to ponder on. It is not hidden to you that all is not well with our world today. But I will not focus on our world, but on our dear nation Nigeria. A country that has so many challenges known and unknown. All is not well with our Nigeria today.

And so today I preach - What is God doing with Nigeria? I have asked this question, that we may know how far we can continue to say "God dey" and "Diaris God", how far we can expect God to do something for us in this nation; so that we can know when it is time to stop fooling ourselves that God will get involved with our land.

You need to consider what I preach with an open heart, not only an open heart but with intense thought. The only thing, only hope, only expectation remaining with most Nigerians now is that God will do something. Even the politicians play the card, so that we may not go wild in frustration, they point us to God as a solution to the problems, most of it caused by them. If that is the case therefore, we need to really ask ourselves "What is God doing with Nigeria?".

Far be it to claim I have an answer to this question. The question nags me on because our leaders who claimed they have "Change" to offer have changed such claims to "only God can help with Nigeria's problems". I will not bother about our leaders and their naughtiness since they constitute a major part of the problems we expect God to solve for us.

As much as I look, it is hard to really see God at work in our nation. Everyday the stories of the ills are increasing. Newer ills are being added. A decade ago we had no Boko Haram, we had no Kidnap merchants, even though we had ritual killers it was not on a scale like this. Our youths were not as many on Okada as we have now. So I ask "What is God doing about Nigeria?".

People die in their hundreds seeking for employment, die seeking admission. Even the brilliant exist with no space to pursue higher education. Parents suffer to see their wards through school and after it they see the same wards day and night with their certificate neatly kept, endlessly waiting for a job which may not come for years. In pain I scream "What is God doing with Nigeria?".

In 2014, our nation had the highest number of deaths due to insurgency in the world. We are the third most terrorised country in the World. If people die like in Monaco like in Nigeria (not talking of normal deaths), the whole of the country of Monaco will cease to exist in a few years! "What is God doing with Nigeria?".

HIV/AIDs is increasing, stroke crisis is there and no one is taking note (why won't there be stroke with the chaos in this nation), Nigeria has the highest number of child brides and VVF victims in the world. It is scary being born a female in Nigeria (especially in the north). Children are getting trafficked and teenagers are taken away to other continents to prostitute; and so I ask again "What is God doing about Nigeria".

People of Nairaland, I know you would have loved me to prophesy that it shall with you in 2016, that you will win major contracts in 2016; have that oil job (even though oil is crying these days), buy the latest cars, get a husband and get a visa in 2016. Oh I wish that is what my spirit is saying. But no, my spirit cries out today - "What is God doing with Nigeria?"

Prayer - Oh Lord, you see the wahala and the suffering of the work of your hands. Our eyes are with tears today as cry to you. We are exactly like sheep without shepherd. There is trouble around, destroying our bodies, soul, and even seek to destroy our spirit. Our leaders have forsaken us so soon. What are you doing about us? Forgive us if it is a silly question. We have hoped, and our hope is still in you. Please do something, for the sake of us little ones. In Jesus name we ask, Amen.

Good to hear that @Freaknasty. My main problem now is time. I have kickstarted a number of things that requires time. Am lucky I had a few weeks to myself only, that's why I could even manage a bit.

Secondly, the success of this venture is going to be based on systems and logistics. It may look like its all Okada but behind that is just the simple part. Are you sure you will like to try it?

Thanks for this bro.

You might want to enlighten me on this regard
Incase you want to buy a 'shop' domain as part of your portfolio,

1. thread carefully, don't just buy any name with shop
2. make a list of the most popular things traded
3. search expired domains for each of the words on your list
4. you may not get a domain with shop, but I promise you, you will get an equally nice domain name

There is something I spotted somewhere. I am still examining it. It is actually not for domainers but to help people name their projects. It contains some hot names. Will let you know later. For now, try those tips. They are for you @jammeyboy. Come with a list of what you have and I promise I will give you one or two hot domain name ideas with shop.
