No. Morals and socialisation are my jurisdiction as a parent. And child abuse in the name of injustice is neither moral nor good socialisation. A good teacher should be able to enforce discipline without abusing his/her students, especially when the child has no power to change the fault he is accused of. Do you expect a child of 5 years to go to the barber by himself? A degree in education is supposed to equip them to understand how to enforce discipline appropriately and justly.

We will stop victimisation of teachers only when they stop the victimisation of our children. The economy is not our children's fault.

I was well beaten, i felt bad, i look back and i thank God, each time i was asked to join cult in University i just de remember the beating i got from my chemistry teacher for ganging up to slap someone......western idea of societal values and ours differ... Its my thinking though, what do i know.

No. I am a fan of discipline, but this specific case is what you get when you overstep your boundaries. We send our children to school to learn maths and English, not to be subject to abuse by frustrated school staff. Do you know how humiliated that child would have felt to be forcibly shaved in front of all his friends? And for a reason that was not even his fault?

The problem is that abuse tends to be self propagating from one generation to the next.

English, maths, morals and socialisation... Being neat is part of it, stop victimisation of teachers, if they stand like drones and spout out English and maths without being able to enforce discipline... Wetin the kids go learn...

Its a military job but thats not the issue, he was killed in a riot, they must have done something to warrant riot, and you saying they earn well silidifies my point further, they earn average legally, most of the extra is from extortion.

Did the officers kill a smuggler/man?
Was the killed individual armed?
Was he killed because he was resisting arrest or he refused to settle the bribe demanded?

There is palpable tension in Imasayi, Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun State, as an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) was allegedly killed during a melee involving suspected smugglers.

DAILY POST learnt that the incident occurred on Saturday night when officers of the NCS engaged the said smugglers while conveying some illegal goods.

The suspected smugglers were said to have resisted arrest; a situation that led to violence.

Properties worth millions of Naira had been destroyed in the riot, which resulted in the death of the yet-to-be identified Customs officer as many others sustained various degrees of injuries.

On Sunday, anti riot policemen were mobilised to take over Imasayi to restore normalcy, DAILY POST learnt.

An indigene of the community told DAILY POST that residents of Imasayi fled the community for fear of being arrested by the police.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun 1 Command of the NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada, has confirmed the incident.

Maiwada told reporters that the NCS operatives were on routine anti-smuggling operations when they had an encounter with the suspected smugglers; adding that the officer was brutally murdered.

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Sen. Tolu Odebiyi, has expressed concern over the incident, describing it as a case of carnage, reprisal and altercation between the NCS and youths of Imasayi.

The Senator said: “I have responded to the chaos in Imasayi by speaking to the Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, who was firmly briefed and gave assurances that the situation is under control, as he has gotten commitments from the military and Nigeria Customs Officers on ground”.

“I also spoke to the Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Mr. Amajam and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) who were equally helpful in talking to the Strike Team.

“The issue in Imasayi is totally unacceptable and unwarranted as there was no justification for the killing of a uniformed Officer.

“I commiserated with the Strike Force and assured them of the support of the good and law abiding people of Imasayi in fishing out the bad eggs in their midst so as not to give the peaceful town a bad name.”

Odebiyi appealed to the Nigeria Customs Service to de-escalate tension by engaging the communities in a manner that will engender a friendly approach to achieve positive results.; adding that incessant altercations can only lead to needless fear and apprehensions.

Anybody and any gender at any age can be raped or manipulated. Old and young people are often decieved or coerced into something they don't really know the implication of. We should be careful and watch who we follow. Maybe going to a mans house is better off limits because people twist things to look like you knew the deal, even when you innocently visited. Some ppl are so traumatized and desensitized, so used to this, that when they go into a man's apartment, they expect it to be sex, even. It's sad.
