solomon111: @craig BOh, GEJ can wear his uniform alright. Just don't come here and tell us he's allowed to do so in terms of your constitution, because there's no such provision. Also don't come and tell us "Nigerians don't have a problem with it" because some Nigerians do. If you people are happy with a civilian president playing general wanna-be, just say so. Don't give us a thousand false explanations. And trying to shift the focus to the tired CAR topic won't help. Just accept who you people are and be happy. No South African will bother you after that. |
souldust: @andrew although he is the first civilian president to put it on but we have no problems with GEJ wearing the military uniform. You can see the service chiefs by his side and they seem not to have problems with it. You dont claim to know more than our service chiefs, do you? Do you think he used force to make them decorate him in military colours? I know you guys dont think very highly of us. What reasons you have for that, i dont know.Naai-jerians here should stop speaking as though the whole country agrees with GEJ's having highjacked the country's military colours. There's no such universal agreement in Naai-geria. Let's not make a big deal out of this. http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/afolabi-ogunleye/two-things-president-jonathan-should-consider-quitting.html "Yet I feel a tinge of offense, or better yet I consider it an overreach whenever I see civilian Nigerian leaders as the incumbent President Jonathan don full military regalia for any reason. It matters less to me if the event he is attending is a military ceremony; the image simply comes across as incongruous whenever I see it. For me, it is akin to a hospital lab technician posing as a medical doctor, even if for a quick minute. It was a lot more bearable seeing former president Olusegun Obasanjo, being a former army general and an influential one with a storied sojourn within the military establishment to boot, donning a military outfit as a civilian president at military ceremonies, never mind his protruding septuagenarian gut in the outfit. Mr. Obasanjo in character and mannerism also effused a militaristic orientation that made his appearance in a military outfit seem natural. Baba Obasanjo is a stubborn, old pit-bull anyway. But not so with Mr. Jonathan, whose body language exudes something close to uncomfortable timidity than confidence. Think about it; how does the image of a university professor of marine biology, with a meek [if not subservient] smile, whose favorite choice of clothing are dark dresses with a fedora, morph into the image of a generalissimo in full military regalia? It is as unimaginable as turtleneck sweater's in the desert sun. President Jonathan’s outfit strikes me as a fake, quixotic stunt." |
GidiNaijaPikin: Some brains need serious panelbeating! When a boy sits in a far-flung corner using a borrowed Mac computer to comment blindly on matters miles and oceans away of which he has no first hand information ... his case is like that of a silly snail trying hard to live outside of its shell. It may be free from itself, but terribly exposing it's own stupidity.Other than your constant pointing out of this supposed "ignorance", you've never offered anything to set yourself apart from the ignorant types you so despise. |
chris365: once again the s.tupid fellow shows up with his shallow minded analysis. You people love saying things in public forums and when asked simple questions you get angry. If you're emotionally imbalanced, don't join a chat forum. We all know there was a ceasefire before. The BH leader came out and denied it. Without the leader, this supposed ceasefire isn't worth the paper it is written on. Until you bring the leader to justice, you've achieved nothing. How gullible must a people be? Just a few days ago, school kids were massacred and this guy says they had nothing to do with it. So who did? Casper the ghost? Faction ceasefires achieve what? Your military set out to destroy BH. Have you achieved that? No. Someone begged you? I see we have another Agaugust in the making here. Do you have an MBA too? |
chris365: Boko Haram begs for forgiveness, signs ceasefire deal.So where's the leader? This has happened before. |
Donian007: At this juncture I'll demand that you Andrewza should shut-up. Why are you getting yourself worked-up because Nigerian Constitution gave GEJ the right to wear military uniforms with the rank of field marshal on ceremonial duties? Nigeria and South Africa are not thesame, we have a policy that works for our nation and military, our military are highly respected and so they give us same. We don't trade their lives for selfish things. Our military have trained other militaries e.g(liberia, ghana, etc) and have never deployed companies or battalions that would go acting Rambo where they are strangers. Get it into your brain, Nigeria is Nigeria not South Africa.Tantrums won't help. We are over this. We got over it the moment we realised there's no such provision in your constitution, clover Danone. "Nigerian Constitution gave GEJ the right to wear military uniforms with the rank of field marshal on ceremonial duties?" Where does your constitution say that? Don't be angry. Just pull out the relevant section and be happy. Otherwise don't say anything, because we won't accept things just because you say so. You're making this a big deal when it shouldn't be one. Move on or pull out the constitutional provision. |
saengine: In 2013? OkayWell, it's not surprising. Their governmental website only became fully operational this year – in 2013. ![]() |
kwame tut: [b]@GraigBAnd you know what, Kwame? Zuid Afrika doesn't make empty, boisterous claims. We know how to refine natural gas. So we won't have to send it out of the country to be refined. Only to import diesel and sell it at subsidised prices that cripple our government. Note: I didn't make any comparisons ![]() |
chris365: and how did the picture of the bus insult or undermine south africa's potentials? Or did he compare it with south african produced buses or call south africans names? The picture of the bus of off-topic. Even you admitted as much. Therefore, it's hypocritical. Just because I've said something that hurts your feelings doesn't mean you've been called names. I've only stated the truth as a direct challenge to your statements. The Russians have been unhappy. So they turned to South Africa. South Africa must deliver, as this is a bankable contract. Not some wishy-washy arrangement. Where my mind doesn't show potential of genius, yours has been confirmed not to have that. If you don't like the points I raised, that's not my Indaba. I'm not here to worry about Chris's precious ego. |
kwame tut: @GraigBThey call the truth "spam", Kwame. See, when it suits them, they are happy to post pictures of busses. But just you post a picture of a building. They will jump on you. ![]() |
saengine: You might have been changing oil and stuff like that, but not heavy maintenance. This is the 1st facility of its kind in Africa.Well, the Russians bemoan the lack of "efficient maintenance systems". Looks like for them, "the deal" sucked aplenty...for years. That's until they turned to a country that knows what it's doing - Zuid Afrika. |
onomedavid: Chapter VI THE EXECUTIVE ,Part I Federal Executive ,A The President of The Federation ,section 160-powers and procedure, section 161-interpretation.Oh, I see. So it's no longer the "special privileges" provisions now? This is getting ridiculous. How do sections 160-161 translate to "GEJ can wear military colours"? Your sections are totally irrelevant. They deal with powers of executive bodies like the Code of Conduct Bureau; the Council of State; the Federal Character Commission etc. You can't read and understand your own constitution. GEJ highjacked your military colours. You can't produce any constitutional provision, despite repeated requests. I'm tired of asking now. See your sections 160-161 below. Read section 153 for the context. ----- 160. (1) Subject to subsection (2) of this section, any of the bodies may, with the approval of the President, by rules or otherwise regulate its own procedure or confer powers and impose duties on any officer or authority for the purpose of discharging its functions. (2) In the exercise of any powers under subsection (1) of this section, any such body shall not confer powers or impose duties on any officer or authorities of a State except with the approval of the Governor of the State. The President, upon the receipt of advice from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, shall table before the National Assembly proposals for revenue allocation from the Federation Account, and in determining the formula, the National Assembly shall take into account, the allocation principles especially those of population, equality of States, internal revenue generation, land mass, terrain as well as population density.` 161. In this Part of this Chapter, unless the context otherwise requires - (a) any reference to "ex officio member" shall be construed as a reference to a person who is a member by virtue of his holding or performing, the functions of an office in the public service of the Federation; (b) "office" means an office in the public service of the Federation; (c) any reference to "member" of a body established by section 153 of this Constitution shall be construed as including a reference to the Chairman of that body; and (d) "misconduct" means a breach of the Oath of Allegiance or oath of office of a member or a breach of the provisions of this Constitution or bribery or corruption or false declaration of assets and liabilities or conviction for treason or treasonable felony. |
NaijaPikinGidi: More ignorance and wishful delusions. Arrant childish tantrums. Make yourselves the enemy. Touch a Nigerian President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces and inflict on yourselves the wrath, and worst pain you could have avoided. No one would have expected such interest in the Nigerian military and Presidency ... Great you are outdoing yourselves. Nice ... study hard! That's all you know. Throwing words out of your mouth and throwing your toys of the cart. The request is very simple: You came up with the argument that the president is empowered by your constitution to wear military colours. You people came up with that argument. No one else did! All you have to do is give us the provision that says this. Simple. No need for long words and painful arguments and jumping up and down. Just give us the provision. What do the words say? Anything else that you say is a waste of your time and ours. |
NaijaPikinGidi: People will lose their minds and self control trying to pontificate to Nigeria what the rights and privileges of the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces are? Your pain ... not ours!!All you had to do was admit that your president hijacked the military colours. Also, you had to admit that your country does not know what the difference is between military and civilian rule, judging by the arguments put forward by all of you here. And, before you get excited about people's pain, realise that by walking around in military colours, your president can be seen by the enemy as being part of the military and therefore, he can be attacked or arrested as an officer, instead of being treated as a civilian. There was no need for long arguments and fake constitutional provisions, which do not exist (of course, you are still requested to produce the argument-ending constitutional provision). |
NaijaPikinGidi: Chris365 ... by now we sabi how far! Free the guy make e dey tear mouth dey go. At least him don learn a few things as e visit that .com site. We have the power to educate them ... they learn even though they won't admit. Don't think they don't leave here each day without grasping a thing or two that beat back their ignorance. Free the pikin joo t'ori olorun! The only ignorance I see here is displayed by a bunch of people who don't grasp their own constitution. Piles and piles of countries have their heads of state as commanders-in-chief. Unless you can produce a constitutional provision empowering GEJ's walking around in military gear, you people are still stuck in your days of military rule.Produce the provision and wording and be happy. Fail to produce it and confirm your ignorance. How difficult is it to cut and paste a few words from your constitution on here? Link us up to the constitution. Don't give us 's hear-say. |
NaijaPikinGidi: President and Commander-In-Chief H.E. Dr. G. E. JonathanWe have seen the link. It is a complete waste of our time. It is the interpretation of one specific person. How difficult is it to paste on here the exact provision of the constitution? . Where is it? It does not exist, does it? There is no constitutional provision that entitles GEJ to wear military colours. What do the words of the provision say? Naai-geria decided to be "loose" about the whole thing and in the process, blurred the lines between civilian and military rule. |
chris365: so why did the olodo mention me if he can read and understand like you just showed. You are a time waster. You wasted your time and now you are wasting ours. is the sole reason why Chris came here and quoted something that does not exist. Do not tell us what said. Give us the exact provision of the constitution that entitles your president to wear military uniform. There is no such provision. What do the words of the provision say? The fact that Jonathan is the Commander in Chief is not in dispute. We want support for the argument that he is empowered by the constitution to wear military uniform. That provision (unless you can produce it) is non-existent. If you do produce it, yes I am ignorant (of your constitution), as I should be - being a foreigner. |
GidiNaijaPikin: I'd directly respond to you this last time. Go to the top of page 466 and see your Mike..ZA's clear intentions. It's the very first post. A very weak attempt at recycling materials or talking points like yourself and surrogates. Mike..ZA's intentions by that question were clear. You need to learn to let go. This is not a debate for money. You were asked a simple question because you decided you make a comment that invited the question. Of course, Mike and everyone else will want to know where your weapons were when B Harm killed your people. Isn't that the obvious question if you want to ask South Africans about weapons and CAR? Don't cry. Just accept you asked for it and move on. Learn to let go and learn to argue relevant issues next time. |
GidiNaijaPikin: Is that your best response for your slander and accusation on his person? Out to cause serious provocations it appears. Well, good luck at it. Your comedy train continues.Yes- look at your last few comments and see if more is warranted. I suggest you move on to the next point. You have no complaint here. |
GidiNaijaPikin: When it matters most South Africans will love to trade blames and shirk responsibilities. This is the correct sequence of their new recyling venture. That your response was calm is irrelevant. You were asked (in response to your comment) where your weapons were when Boko H killed people. You couldn't answer. So you decided to talk about crime. Now you omit to mention your post, which started it all. You should've simply answered Mike's question, which you asked for anyway. |
chris365: i'll be back in 2 days when this routine of insults as i predicted ends. am outIf you need to go, go. Don't point to things that don't exist. |
Henry120: You are a cheap liar. The SANDF were poorly equipped for their mission in CAR (full stop). Not this silly talk of not wanting to look like an imperialist bla bla.Ag shame. "Footprint" means "presence". "Numbers". Ayayay SMH |
andrewza: Yes but all your animals were poached long time. And the SANDF is there along with the game rangers, and arrest and shoot outs do occur. Problem is rhino horn is worth more than gold and mozambique is full of poor people, guns and a long border with SA. Still there are a number of graves on there side of the border.Apparently, the Naai-gerians aspire to such high standards that they do no tolerate anything but zero crime....in other people's countries! Their country? Well, the high standards can be relaxed a bit... No... a great deal! |
zetdee: Those are the few that make the news, you see threads here from people reporting such incidence but see nothing about it online, it's a national hobby indeed.Quite right. |
andrewza: It nothing new israel has attacked most of it neighbours if they start to get something that they feel is a threatAndrew, I thought I'd point out that Chris's argument about Jonathan's uniform being provided for in the constitution was rubbish. ![]() |
GidiNaijaPikin: Laughter is a medicine to the soul ... at this point I have had enough to go for the week.Let's see - coming out of your mouth - recycled and rephased: 1. Seleka 2. Crime Two points rephrased and re-twisted. Can you come up with anything better? |
chris365: i hope this answers you query @ThizaI'm starting to find a great deal of amusement in you. ![]() How can responding directly to a post by Naijapigoon be "starting" anything? Was he not the first person to give the example of crime as an indication of military shortcomings? Pointing out ethnic violence as Naai-geria's hobby is only apt as a retort. Methinks you're the one who's run out of arguments. So you project your own paranoia on others. Wake up, Chrissy. |
zetdee: So what would you say is the hobby of most Nigerians.Ethnic violence, which B Haram is an expression of to a significant degree. http://m.theaustralian.com.au/news/breaking-news/nigeria-ethnic-violence-kills-48-army/story-fn3dxix6-1226671668778 All these deaths in one day in central Naai-geria. And since when do soldiers do police work? |
onomedavid: i will advise you to read the Nigerian constitution, section 130,part 1,chapter vi under the special priviledges act.The right to wear mil. Uniforms is vested in the constitution.Chapter VI only has sections 78-97, which deal with executive powers. You dreamt this up and I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as Section 130, Part 1, Chapter VI of the constitution of the federation of Naai-geria. Alternatively, you have no clue what you're talking about and can't point Andrew to the correct provision of the constitution. Section 130 is in chapter IX and deals with the allocation of revenue. ![]() Special privileges act? That's not the constitution. How on earth can a constitution, which is an act on its own, have built into it another act called the special privileges act? The mind boggles. |
Nigerians can't sustain any war. Too divided as a nation, I will keep saying. Can't work together. Ignore it if you wish, but the fact remains. _______ Nigeria-tries-18-soldiers-over-alleged-bok*o-h*aram-link Lagos, Nigeria - The Nigerian Army has arraigned 18 soldiers, including a Lieutenant, before a court martial for allegedly aiding members of the Islamic sect Boko Haram and other insurgents, the local media reported Tuesday. The 18 soldiers were members of the military Joint Task Force (JTF) in the northern state of Borno, regarded as the spiritual base of the sect, and the Special Task Force (STF) in Jos, capital of northern Plateau state. The military court is sitting at the 3 Armoured Division Headquarters in Jos. The accused were said to have been investigated for various offences ranging from communication with the enemy, cowardly behaviour, murder and manslaughter, among others. When the charges were read to the soldiers, they pleaded not guilty. No lawyer appeared for them. The court then rose without announcing any adjourning date. In May, the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, complained that some soldiers gave out information to terrorists, thereby compromising the nation’s security. He said soldiers who leaked information to terrorists had been arrested and would face a military court. Information about the movement of Nigerian troops to Mali to join the African-led International Support Mission for Mali (AFISMA) was reportedly leaked to terrorists, who ambushed the troops and killed two soldiers on the Okene-Lokoja road in central Nigeria. Pana 02/07/2013 http://www.afriquejet.com/news/8813-nigeria-tries-18-soldiers-over-alleged-boko-haram-link.html _____ More where that came from, no doubt. |
AwodwaGyanOniwe: @GraigBLook! There's even an organisation set up against Naai-gerians because of their unpalatable ways. http://www.nigerianscams.org/ Funny, this ![]() |
BCraig: It's the myopia of the Naai-gerian mind. Always focusing on the wrong stuff, is the Naai-gerian. Thiza rightly points out the preoccupation with "invading South Africa", which obviously will never happen because there won't be any invasions in this decade or perhaps, even century. |
