whine whine whine Nigerian employees, what revenue or extra value add are YOU bringing to the company? instead complaining about MY emoluments, leaches |
Hi f_maks, *assuming* you have a British passport then its very straightforward, when you arrive at UK airport present your Nigerian passport at check in and going through immigration present your British Passport. When leaving Nigeria, present your British Passport at check in and present both passports when going through immigration and they will only stamp your Nigerian passport and when you get to London present your British passport Simple, i've been doing this for years and never a problem |
Its time to give up the good for the great - my mate Mani |
smartkid, my wife went through a similar experience in august 09, she went fully fortified with all the documents needed (even tried to carry wedding album with her and i had to draw the line there) and during the interview the guy didn't even look at one single item and before you know it he gave her a 2 year visa as a first timer. just makes me wonder what the criteria really is or is it that the officer just wakes up feeling in a good mood and decides to give ![]() |
Zabutt, just to add to all that has been said by the theorymongers, I ACTUALLY moved to Nigeria and set up a multi channel contact centre based on an Avaya IP platform in December 2006 and all the problems that everyone has said you will face are certainly there, power bandwidth, rent, human resources, etc but this i assure is nothing and you will overcome. The biggest challenge you face is customers which clearly you have already resolved so i want to encourage you to come to Nigeria and set up and the opportunities are limitless. If you want any advice, feel free to email me |
Dude, Bodrum is the place |
I flew QA to Dubai via Doha and although it wasn't my first choice I'm glad I experienced it. The plane if I remember correctly was a Airbus A340-600, not old but not exactly brand spanking new. The service was attentive and the inflight entertainment was okish. The food was unbelievably scrummy and of course I made sure I drank my quota of the champagne. With regards to the customer service, as I didn't have any problems I didn't get a chance to test that but all the staff were accommodating and friendly from Lagos to Dubai, especially the Lagos ground staff. All in all, its a thumbs up for me and I will actually travel with them again on my next trip. If you travel business class they have an amazing terminal for business and first, stunning to say the least. Hope this was useful. |
Experiences are subjective. My wife and I spent a fabulous 3 days there last year around march and we had a fantastic time, the food was fresh and authentic, the staff couldn't do enough for us, power was constant, facilities good so overall we enjoyed the break. I think if you intend to visit, you should (like with many places in and out of Naija) be prepared for potential issues, nowhere is perfect! |
was it insured? |

can someone please tell me what the new honda accord has been nicknamed? |
there has been a lot of talk about parents, but what happens if couples parents are dead or they are out of the picture? does that mean its not blessed and sanctioned ![]() |
there are certainly cheaper apartments but will they come with a/c's, fridges, beds, tv's? - short leases have premiums because everything is there, you just bring your clothes |
there are a few rare landlords that do shortlets but these tend to be more expensive, there are a few near me in Lekki that i know of they are around $100 per day, email me if you are interested. best thing to do is to find 2-3 agents in the area that you want, give them your requirements/budget and they will go looking for you but remember you probably will need to pay a premium because it will be furnished and all you need to do is move in. ciao |
me too i wanna know ![]() |
aikyg:aikyg - no hard feelings at all, there's never hard feelings only warm fuzzy ones, I still maintain that as a nation we are still too focused on 'books' rather than getting out there and getting the job. Don't get me wrong, education is good but after a while it's simply jarring, With regards to your comments about opening my eyes, I am fully aware that an open sourced based system is probably better but you need to understand where we are in Nigeria. Most people are still so much into what they see rather than what they are actually getting, that they won't allow something that isn't name brand give them the same benefits that a non name brand would, you see ultimately, I am a business man here to make money period - so which ever way, I can 'razzle dazzle' the key decision makers then I'm all about that, Just so that you know, I have a Asterix PBX/Call Centre Application from Halidzo as well |
Starting an IT outsourcing company anywhere is no joke! Let me tell you from my experience, I set up www.veritycontactcentre.com this year January which is essentially a business process outsourcing firm with our first focus on contact i.e customer/consumer contact. I thank God that we are doing well and have a few contracts and the probabilities of more are increasing by the day. Lack of infrastructure doesn't help, infact it just makes everything more expensive but its still do-able. I wish there were more firms out here doing what we do and that way we are all able to shout louder and gain the attention of the western world where, lets face it is where the bucks is. We have found it so difficult to get projects from the west for a few reasons, two main ones are ignorance of Nigeria as a possible outsourcing destination and our high cost of doing business which makes it difficult for us to compete effectively with India and the other outsourcing havens. Having said that, I am still here and I believe wholeheartedly that outsoucing will work here. My key success factors to make it work for any budding outsourcing service provider is; 1. Get contracts in Nigeria first to get the experience and iron out any teething problems you may encounter 2. Make sure you have the right skills and are capable, forget all that what you studied crap, cause 95% of it is not useful in the real world 3. Have a partner based abroad who can win projects for you, average sales cycle can be as much as 6 months 4. Have lots money 'cause this isn't an overnight success story 5. Have more than one back up generator, My motto these days is if India can do why the hell can't we do it better? |
why on earth should Bank PHB be friggin applauded ? ![]() |
is it me or has everyone missed the point that without high internet penetration in an environment it is virtually impossible to become a successful dot com business in that particular market. Back to the main question, I have heard of several venture capital companies/funds but the VC business is in the early stages here. What we typically have here is more of business angels (private individuals with lots of dosh) who I feel are better for our market because after investing in you and your business they actively seek to open doors for you by putting you in touch with their business networks and as we all know its all about who you know knowing who they know! [quick advice, if you are going to get an angel, make sure its someone who is busy and wont be interfering constantly] |
itachi, the writing's on the wall my brother, next thing she may start eating paella and then you know what, my take on the scenario is the distance which has given her some space and opened her eyes and heart to a new and different culture/surroundings is whats causing the issue. two simple thing can now happen, you wait and see if she returns to you or you count your losses. sometimes when it seems like it will be, it may not actually be, just my 2 kobo |
sharing - thats the great thing about Nairaland |
