Please someone advise me: I secured admission for a school in Calgary (Fall start 2015). I applied for visa but was denied because my documents were incomplete. Right now I am trying to apply again by 17th of this month. Knowing that it takes 6 weeks to process study permit; I will be expecting my application to be fully processed by 28 August (just 10 days from the program start date).
If I do upfront medical and I am successful, will they issue me study permit that very day (August 28th) ? or is there another stage before issuance.
If I am issued a study permit by 28, what are my chances of booking a flight ticket within 9 days?
I advise you defer your admission to Winter 2016 based on the ffg:
1- No one knows how long your next app process will take.
2- upfront med doesn't guarantee ur immediate collection of trv
3- flying within 9days of booking might be really expensive.
Consider these and make ur decision

I heard oh its sad. We love to look for the cheapest of the cheapest. Anyone coming abroad to study is definitely not from a hungry family. It's advisable to spend that extra coin on getting a good flight.

Yes, u can. I know someone who did same. Just go to the state CID with a copy of ur passport, 2photos, n over N10k. Your docs will be forwarded to Alagbon. My friend got his police cert within 2wks though(a long time compared with 2hrs or so at Alagbon)

@team12 I agree with yuou to an extent on that.
You hav to tell them why ure not satsfied after goiing through almost the same thing here in your country
Thiss would make the know that you're really pained about the state of the educational system and you solely wannnaa go abroad and develop yourself.
I stole a paragraph from a friend that got hs TrV wheree he says the incessant strikes is a major factor of wanting to school aabroad.
Do you think that's paaintng nigeia bad?
Yes, incessant strike n other education defect are good reasons for going to study abroad. This shouldn't affect ur coming back to work in Nigeria, should it? But when u say things like nothing works in Nig, etc, then that's telling d VO, u dont like ur country n wont be coming back. U get?

Her university promised her a job since 2011 till now and other unversities, they said go and do masters first which she has done. My dear she is so down.
Scroll up a bit and read Team12's contribution. She also had a first class. An eloquent, intelligent n knowledgeable first class material(plus masters sef) has a very good place in Nigeria except all ur friend did was 'cram' to pass even at dt, if she can try a bit to sell her degree, the sky is her limit. There's no bank dt wont employ her. I hope she's smart cos i don't understand why she cant get a job. She, not the employers, is causing demotivation for other students. She shouldn't sit on top bike ooo, n dulling herself.

Pinkygrace, how long did she apply for? How many organisations did she apply to? How was her presentation/performance at the interviews(very key)? Why should first class give u an automatic job? She should be able to reconfirm her intelligence to the interviewers.
Let her go teach in her university instead of dt secondary sch. Let her not frustrate her degree. Go, advise her

Crich I beg to differ, let me give an example of someone I know personally she graduated with. First class in Agric economics, could not get a job she went for masters and got distinction up till now no work after thousands of application . She teaches in a secondary school where she is paid 30k. I have told her to apply to Canada she will get schoolarship for PHD , guess what she is not motivated at all. Last week she asked me wht is all the strees for
Ah! Her case needs special prayers. What happened to bank jobs? Ah ah! Not a 30k job na no matter how bad. There's something wrong somewhere. I still stand on my earlier statement. First class has a place somewhere good in this country as long as it can be defended. U dont expect a first class material to be employed if he cant sell himself/defend d degree during an interview.

In your days, a first class students life is made already!
Nowadays a first-class civil engineering student can be working in a block making industry!
One word! MOTIVATION!
It has disappeared!
I dont completely agree. What applied in his days still apply now.
If u have good grades esp a 1st class, n actually know your onion, d sky is ur limit. I speak from my family's experience. I still know kids who finished say 2/3yrs ago with good grades n work in very good places without any 'influence'.
This mentality of no motivation is what students already have before they even get into school. Very wrong mentality. I would have shared some experiences on this forum but it would be a very long story. Kids should always strive to be tops regardless of the 'no motivation' factor, and see where it gets them.

What is happening these days. Is it that Nigerian universities are simply giving everyone 2:2 abi students are no more serious with their studies? Please no one should get offended. I schooled in naija oh don't get me wrong biko, then 2:1, cgpa of 3.9 and above seemed to be the norm.
Hmmm!!!
1) Lecturers are no longer serious. They dont impact knowledge. They dont even have the knowledge to impact. Students dont put efforts into personal studying.
2) Students say no be who read know book, na who pass. So, they try to work their way up from their 'pass' brain to 3rd class or 2.2
3) Lecturers say 1 n 2.1 belong to them, so they ensure students dont get good grades. Wetin person no go see for Naija.
4) Students say 2.2 is okay. So they intentionally work towards it
5) The atmosphere isn't conducive. This is the reason we do better when we school in other countries
6) The list is endless
My elder bro contested one of his results and the lecturer made sure he ended up without a 1st class but a 2.1.
My kid bro had a 1st class but not without a big fight.
I'm sure ur observation has always been, not new. Although it's not the fault of some that they came out 2.2 n below
