Legendary American rapper Busta Rhymes has revealed what he thinks about Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy.

According to him, Burna sounds like a Jamaican.

The hip-hop legend, who collaborated with Burna on ‘Roboshotta,’ a track from his latest album, ‘Blockbusta,’ said he noticed that the Nigerian singer sounded like a Jamaican on the song.

Busta Rhymes stated this while commending Burna Boy’s versatility in the latest episode of the Shopping for Sneakers podcast.

He said: “The original beat Pharrell [William] produced for me and Burna Boy’s song ‘Roboshotta’ was a different beat. Burna Boy sounds crazy on the song, right? Burna sounded like he was from Jamaica on the song.”

Burna Boy and Busta Rhymes began collaborating musically after the American made a cameo on his hit song, ‘Big 7’ music video earlier this year.

Court Imposes Fine On Man For False Marriage Promises

A Customary court has fined a Zimbabwean man identified as Mugwagwa Gumunyu after his girlfriend Eunice Hunda accused him of making false marriage promises to her.

Eunice who dragged Gumunyu to Chief Nheweyembwa in Murehwa, demanded that he compensate her after he falsely promised to marry her.

It was gathered that Eunice is a security guard at a local shipping logistical company where Mugwagwa is a manager. The two hooked up at work and got into a relationship, even though Mugwagwa had a wife.

When Mugwagwa courted Eunice, he lied to her that he was single and had divorced his wife. Their relationship blossomed for years, so much so that Eunice gave Mugwagwa over US$2000 during the course of their relationship.

One day, Eunice heard from two female workmates that Mugwagwa had also promised to marry them and reneged. The two other women even confronted the manager.

After figuring out that her relationship with Mugwagwa was a ruse, Eunice took the matter to Chief Nheweyembwa. When he appeared before the Chief, Mugwagwa probed why he was appearing in Murehwa when he came from Masvingo.

The Chief was offended by this and charged Mugwagwa with contempt of court. Afterwards, Chief Nheweyembwa fined Mugwagwa US$500 for promising to marry Eunice and not fulfilling it.

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Mayorkun has revealed that he and his former record label boss, Davido are not beefing each other.

He stated this during an episode of Tea with Tay podcast hosted by actor and show host, Taymesan, while clearing the air on rumours that they fell out following his exit from DMW.

Mayorkun said that contrary to public opinion, he has one of the best relationships with the ‘Dami Duro’ hit-maker.

He said he does not talk about OBO online as regularly as some other entertainers do, because their relationship is between them and not for public consumption.

Nigerian hip-hop artiste Phenom has made a shocking revelation.

He claimed that Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy received a $5 million advance payment before signing a recording deal with American record label Atlantic Records in 2017.

He claimed that Nigerian-American music executive Matthew ‘Baus’ Adesuyan, the owner of Bad Habit, an imprint of Atlantic Records, to which Burna Boy is signed, facilitated the payment.

The ‘Murder Dem’ crooner disclosed this in the latest episode of The Yarns podcast.

He also stated that he would return to rapping if presented with a $1 million advance payment offer from any record label.

He said, “If you really want someone like me to rap, give me $1 million. Lock me up in the studio. Those rapping in America, they [music executives] give them big contracts. Phenom said raving rappers like Odumodublvck would soon quit rapping for singing because hip-hop is no longer lucrative.

Controversial Nigerian activist, Martins Otse aka VeryDarkMan has taken to Instagram to release audio recordings of ailing comic actor, Mr Ibu, accusing his wife, Stella Maris of trying to kill him.

Recall that VeryDarkman had accused Mr Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris of wanting to use money meant for Mr Ibu’s hospital bills for her personal gains.

He had claimed that Mr Ibu’s wife wanted to be given money out of the cash raised for the actor’s health bills to get herself a new phone and get a BBL surgery.

Replying VeryDarkMan, Stella asked him whether he considers her as insensitive to be thinking of buying iPhone and doing BBL when her husband, whom she had lived 16 years with, lies in bed sick.

In a recent development, VeryDarkMan released some audio recordings where John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, accused his wife of trying to kill him.

According to the released recordings, Mr Ibu called his daughter, Jasmine to inform her that Stella was coming with some occult people to kill him.

Damini Ogulu, the Grammy-winning singer, who is also known as Burna Boy, issued a new threat.

The singer said he is contemplating hiring 100 lawyers to sue Nigerian bloggers for defamation.

He said he would have sponsored a series of legal battles against Nigerian bloggers with the money he earlier promised to give to them to stop posting about him but he is being considerate because he knows they (bloggers) are trying to make ends meet.

He queried why Nigerian bloggers are hell-bent on pushing him to the wall.

The Nigeria Premier Football League has concluded plans to introduce the U-19 youth league.

The teams will be divided into six zones across the country.

The announcement was made in a letter sent to all the NPFL clubs.

The youth league is aimed at nurturing young talent and providing a platform for them to develop.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike Hosts Justice Tsoho In Abuja Amidst Rivers Crisis

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, received the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, in his office in Abuja on Thursday.

In his remarks, Justice Tsoho requested the minister to consider the judiciary in the allocation of lands in the nation’s capital, saying that the third arm of government has been ignored for too long.

Justice Tsoho commended Wike for his selfless service and appealed to the FCT Minister to allocate land to serving Federal High Court judges as a form of recognition for their services nationwide,

The judge, therefore, stated that three arms of government must work together even though independently.

Reacting, Wike affirmed his eternal respect for the judiciary and the legislature and said he believes in the equality and independence of the three arms of government.

He said that President Bola Tinubu had already mandated him to provide lands to key officials in the three arms, saying he is developing a template that would see the allocation done in phases.

He said: “Like you rightly said, I believe that the three arms of government must work together even though independently, and I believe that no arm of government should be treated lesser than the other.

“Without the judiciary, our democracy cannot survive. Nigerians are talking about the judiciary today because of the role you play, and so whatever is required to strengthen the judiciary is not over-demanding.

Before now, the president had given me the go-ahead to allocate lands to the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. What remains now is how it should be done because the number is too much. What we have decided to do is to do this in phases. All cannot be done at the same time.

“Some allocations were done in the past, but unfortunately, some of the places are inaccessible. I think it is baseless to allocate land where people have no access, that is, infrastructure. It does not make any sense. So, we will allocate lands to you in places that are accessible.“

Federal Government Secures Over $1.5 Billion In Fresh World Bank Loan, Says Edun

The Federal Government has secured a budget support loan worth $1.5bn from the World Bank.

It said it is also expecting another loan worth $80m from the African Development Bank to finance various projects in critical sectors of the economy.

This was confirmed on Monday by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.

According to him, the FG would receive $1.5bn as a whole before the end of the year, provided it fulfilled its end of the deal.

He explained, “Council approved today the application for financing from the World Bank. And in particular, the International Development Association, which is the virtually free or zero-interest lending arm or financing arm of the World Bank.

“The total is $1.5bn. The world today is one of the high-interest rates as the developed world looks to fight inflation. They do it by restricting money, and keeping interest rates high so that you can get inflation down.

“That means that interest rates for everybody else become not just high but very painful, if not unaffordable within that context.”

Edun clarified that Nigeria took macroeconomic moves and tough decisions to restore balance in its economy, warranting support from multilateral development banks.

“The bold, brave, courageous and decisive measures that Mr President has taken are being rewarded by processing for Nigeria $1.5bn of immediate financing, which, provided that we do everything on our side, will be in before the end of the year.

“It is based on that the World Bank is willing to consider and to process on our behalf $1.5bn of concessional financing, relatively cheap financing and financing that will be dispersed relatively quickly.

And it comes in one go. It doesn’t drip as will be done for a project and is just to support the reform effort. And that was what was presented to the Federal Executive Council, and the members approved that we go ahead with that financing given that it is affordable,” said Edun.

The former Lagos Finance Commissioner said lags would exist between the cause and effect of the recent reform.

Although some effects are in place, such as the relative reduction in smuggling and rising domestic production in some areas, ‘it takes time before the full benefits are in,” he noted.

 The Finance Minister also revealed that the Council approved $80m financing from the African Development Bank.

 He explained, “This financing is for a project in Ekiti called the Ekiti Knowledge Zone Project. EKZ is basically to support young people and their quest to take on technology to use it to be employed, trained and benefit from being part of the knowledge economy, being part of the technological wave that is present very much in Nigeria, which is becoming a bigger and bigger share of the economy.

 “The bold, brave, courageous and decisive measures that Mr President has taken are being rewarded by processing for Nigeria $1.5 billion of immediate financing, provided that we do everything on our side before the end of the year.

“So, it’s $80 million to help the young people in the sector of the knowledge economy, technology and communications generally.”

Meanwhile, the Council approved the creation of the Presidential Council on Industrial Revitalisation Roadmap, with President Bola Tinubu as its chairperson.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, said the 10 subcommittees in the Council would consider all the policies within various ministries, as well as the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

She explained, “We have a lot of policies, frameworks and guidelines that should help to revitalise the industries within these different ministries and agencies.

“And we are supposed to collaborate and come up with a single roadmap for each of these subcommittees or each of these roadmaps. And that is geared towards developing the full industrial revival of the economy in line with the eight-point agenda of Mr. President.

“At the end of this, we expect to see a boost in investment in the different industrial sectors. We expect to see a boost in job creation and employment and a general increase in our indices, especially our GDP growth rates, which were said to be growing from 3.5 per cent hopefully to seven per cent. And the GDP base of about 1 trillion, which is in line with Mr President’s vision.”

The council members will be split into 10 subcommittees on consumer credit, commodity exchange, heavy industries and steel development, trade facilitation and ease of doing business.

 Others are subcommittees on licensing and certification of artisans, trade facilitation and realisation, mining and solid minerals, oil and gas and creative industries.

 Uzoka-Anite said the subcommittees on defence, industries and pharmaceutical were stepped down.

 The FEC also approved the creation of a committee to review the Free Trade Zone setup.

This committee will ‘look at the setup, look at incentives, look at the laws and the reforms and come up with reforms that will help to stimulate and catalyse the economic benefits of the free trade zones and special economic zones,” the Minister explained.

A devastating tragedy has struck the Ugep community in Cross River State, as a family of six lost their lives in a fatal auto crash along the Bekwara-Abochiche road last weekend. The victims of this heartbreaking accident were Mr. Edet Eteng, his wife, Ikow, and four of their children.

The four children were laid to rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in Ugep, while the remains of Mr. Edet Eteng and his wife are now in a hospital mortuary in Ogoja LGA.

The Eteng family, originally residing in Abuja, had journeyed to their village in Ugep to celebrate the Leboku festival. Tragically, as they were returning to Abuja, their car collided with an oncoming vehicle, leading to the loss of their lives.

According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred when the Eteng family’s vehicle veered out of its lane and collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle, resulting in this devastating outcome.

The loss has left other family members in a state of shock, especially considering that Mr. Edet Eteng had recently mourned the passing of his elderly mother just a few days after celebrating her birthday.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Cross River, SC Istifanus Ibrahim, confirmed the incident, indicating that it involved two vehicles and resulted in two other occupants sustaining injuries. The tragic event unfolded around the Otokpuru axis in Bekwarra Local Government Area, and the injured individuals were promptly taken to Abuochichie Cottage Hospital for medical attention.

“The information we gathered from security agents and a good Samaritan who were involved in the rescue operation because our post is a bit far from the scene of the accident, was that the probable cause of the fatal accident was over speeding,” he said.

“The accident claimed the lives of 6 persons, including one adult male (father) identified as Edet Eteng, one adult female (mother), and four children (three females and one male) all from one family,”

Road users, especially drivers, must as a matter of responsibility minimize speed during this rainy season because a lot can happen that may be beyond their control,” he added.

Two Individuals Arraigned For Disturbing Public Peace In Abuja

Two men, Orumah Abubakar and Prosper Chukwu, have been brought before a Kado Grade I Area Court in Abuja on charges of disturbing public peace. The police charged both suspects from Kado, Abuja, with disturbing public peace.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge. According to the Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Stanley Nwafoaku, the complainant, Mr. Orumah Abubakar, reported the matter at the Life Camp police station.

Nwafoaku alleged that when the police were sent to the complainant’s house to invite Chukwu to the station, an argument between Abubakar and Chukwu escalated into a disturbance of public peace. This argument was reportedly over the compound’s maintenance fees.

The police said the argument led to a fight, prompting them to summon both parties to the police station. The offense is said to contravene Section 113 of the Penal Code Law.

The Defense Counsel, Mrs. Charity Nwosu, made an oral bail application, citing constitutional and legal provisions to ensure the defendants’ compliance with bail conditions.

The prosecutor did not object to the bail application, and the Area Court Judge, Malam Mohammed Wakili, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum. The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide certain documents for verification.

Matthew Aderoju, popularly known as DJ Splash, has made accusations against popular Nigerian singer and rapper, Azeez Fashola, famously known as Naira Marley,

DJ Splash accused Naira Marley of spiking his food and drinks while with him which is currently trying to ruin his life.

SaharaReporters reported on Sunday that a woman who identified herself as DJ Splash’s mother, in an audio she sent to an online news blog, Gistlover, accused Naira Marley of ruining her son’s life after moving in with him. He noted that her son returned home with a ‘strange ailment’ and was abandoned by Naira Marley.

The woman said the problem started in 2021 after her son, DJ Splash won a competition and was given N100,000 cash.

She explained that after he won the competition, a lot of celebrities liked him and he was taken to many shows.

According to her, he later met Naira Marley and Zlatan and they danced together.

She said Naira Marley opted to take DJ Splash to live and work with him but she initially refused and insisted that her son would go to university first, but that Naira Marley agreed to send the young man to school.

But after some time, her son called her one day, asking her to come and take him away from Naira Marley’s house in the Lekki area of Lagos State where they lived.

Meanwhile, DJ Splash in an interview with actress Iyabo Ojo @iyaboojofespris which was shared on her Instagram page, alleged that Naira Marley constantly spiked his food and drinks, lamenting that something was now with him.

DJ Splash, who spoke incoherently in the interview, managed to tell his interviewer that his life had been ruined.

According to him, his mother sent him money while he was with Naira Marley.

"He doesn't use to give me money to eat, even to put clothes. I am just trying to do something so that it doesn't look I left home... Unfortunately, they started planning things together - maybe they tried to go into religious side - Christian and Muslim. They started planning things all together - Naira and his boys - all of them that dey house, they started planning together.

"...when I told him that I want to go into music apart from DJ, they started planning to make me mad...".

When he was asked how he got to know that, he said he heard "during their discussion but they didn't know that I heard what they said."

He further stated that whenever Naira Marley was involved in something, he would want others to join in and anyone not interested would have a problem with him (Naira Marley).

Continuing he said, "I said okay, if they don't want to support me for music I said I wouldn't continue staying him. As they talk say how they will put something in my food, make him mad, call his mummy and plan things for him, let's tell the mother he is not okay. They now called my mum and told her that I was not okay.

"They tried their best to make me go mad," he said.

When asked if they spiked his food or drink, he said, "They do because this is not how I be. I am one used to studying my body. If not, what they did to me I am not I don't behave like this before."

He added that when he started noticing changes in his body, he stopped eating their food "and I started buying my own food."

SaharaReporters had reported that his mother lamented that since she took her son out of Naira Marley’s house, she had been taking DJ Splash to different hospitals as he had been sick.

She said her son lost memory and had not been mentally sound but did not say if any of the hospitals diagnosed his ailment.

She said DJ Splash had become so sick that she had taken him to different hospitals and sold all she had.

However, she said her son had refused to take drugs prescribed by doctors, insisting that he would only accept drugs from Naira Marley.

Meanwhile, she accused Naira Marley of not answering her calls to date while her son’s health continued to deteriorate.

Speaking in Yoruba language, the woman said, “Hello, Gistlover, I’m the mother of Matthew Aderoju, who is also known as DJ Splash. I want Nigerians to help me. The issue started in 2021.

“He won a competition and was given N100,000 cash and they all liked him because he was good. They took him to many shows and his brother followed him. Naira Marley met him with Zlatan."

She added, “We have a video of them together in which they danced. He said, ‘Wow, this boy is good.’ My son told me he met Naira Marley but I didn’t know who he was. We had a voice call and he pleaded with me to release my son to him. I told him he wanted to go to school and I’m a widow.

“I’m the only one taking care of them. I told him he learnt a vocation and that when he starts making some money, I want him to go to school (university). But he said I should not worry, that he would send him to school. He said he should come and stay with him.

“After he left for his place, I could not reach my son again. When we called him, we would not get him. It took long before I got him and you know in Lekki where they stay, if you don’t call, you will not be allowed to enter. I would ask my son how are things and he would say no problem, but after some time, he started asking me for money. I told him to return home if Marley didn’t keep to his promise.

“One day, my son called and asked me to come get him. He said something was wrong with him. That day, Naira Marley’s younger brother was having the naming ceremony of his baby. My son kept saying something was wrong with him but didn’t know what it was. He said we should not trust anybody, including Naira Marley.

“When we got to Lekki in the night, we met him outside and brought DJ Splash home. Since then, the problems have been massive. We took him to different hospitals. Later, he said if he didn’t see Naira Marley, he would not take drugs. I started calling Subomi, but they didn’t pick up.

“When my son noticed I was taking their numbers from his phone, he removed the SIM card and destroyed it with a stone. He broke it. He broke the phone. Later, they told me at the hospital that he lost his memory. He could not recognise me or his siblings.

“I sold my things. What they would beg to buy from me for N110,000 now, I sold for N55,000 to get money to treat my son. After some time, he started remembering things. He wanted to jump inside a well in the house.

“I could not go out for business; I was taking him everywhere. I had incurred debts at my shop. Only Wizkid or someone with a name like that gave me money; some days N15,000, some days N10,000 when I called to say ‘no money again’. He is only the person who has helped. My son would order Uber and return with the debt. Uber would say the fare is N20,000. Those ones would not know he was not well.

“I would start borrowing money from people in the neighbourhood. After some time, we had to use a chain to restrict his movement. And he was not taking the drugs prescribed for him. Later he said only Naira Marley could give him drugs. And that he was the only one who could talk to him and he would listen. I would call his mother and she would say Naira Marley is not at home.

“We are still on the issue. He doesn’t eat our food; he cooks his own food. If I prepare meat or fish, he will not eat it. He is still at home. Sometimes, he talks to himself. We are planning to take him to another place. Nigerians should help me. Who will help me?

“I bought DJ equipment for him that he took along with him to Naira Marley’s house and later he said Naira Marley also bought equipment for him.

“When the ailment started, he brought all the equipment home one day. One day, he came, ordered an Uber and took away all the equipment again. We don’t know where the equipment is now. Sometimes he would run away. Before we make any plan, he would know. He would say, ‘Mummy, I know you are planning to take me to another place’.

“The laptop I bought for him’ I don’t know where it is.”

This comes a few days after the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Following his death, there have been allegations that Mohbad was assaulted by Naira Marley and his crew.

On October 6, 2022, Mohbad made a series of posts which read, “The events of the last two days have left indelible scars in my heart. I have always just wanted to create good music and to provide for my family and myself through my music. As an Artiste from the street, I thought the Marlian Family would be a good place for me.

“However, recent events and certain truths have come to light which threaten my peace, health and career. Because of these issues, I informed Naira Marley on the Marlian WhatsApp group chat of my intention to change my manager.

“This didn’t go down well with my current Manager Tunde (His Brother) There were instant angry outbursts and protests from him in the chat. I went to Naira Marley’s house with my Producer and my friend on the 4th of October, 2022, to have this conversation and reach a peaceful-resolution.

“We were in the studio, and some of the guys who work with Naira- Sid, Shuddy, Seyi and others- were present, as well as Naira and Tunde. I noticed Tunde was quite agitated as we started the discussion. In the middle of the conversation, Tunde became violent and-attacked me.

“The guys I was with were also attacked, humiliated and stripped naked by Sid, Shuddy and Seyi and some of the other boys. We were barely able to escape. 3 of us had to be checked into the hospital to get medical care for the injuries sustained during the assault.

“Naira Marley was fully present throughout this event, and in fact, coordinated some of the attacks as he instructed the boys to beat us up. Some of this was captured on video.

“It is therefore disrespectful for Naira Marley to insinuate that I started the attack because I was intoxicated as he is fully aware of the facts and circumstances surrounding this violent attack. It is not the first time Naira has lied to push his own narrative, but it will hopefully be the last.
