I've spent one year now on Uber/Taxify. The truth is the work has gotten more competitive ... I still gross #100,000+ every week; but I have to spend an average of 12 hours on the road everyday!
It's not a lot of drivers that can do that without crashing their car one day.

#35,000 per week rental is the reasonable rental this season, with the driver handling fueling and minor repairs. Owner should take care of the servicing of the car and major repairs.

Drivers should stay away from hp. The reason is simple, driver's cash flow can't handle major issues that are bound to come up with the car. What I advise drivers to do is to set aside for themselves, a "car purchase" fund. Open an Alat account, set it so you won't be able to draw it till about 18 months time, and start paying in #20,000 every week. Even if you are dying in the hospital, the bank will not release the money to you until the maturity date. #20,000 per week multiplied by 75 weeks is #1.5 million! Enough funds for a direct tokunbo car, grade A++ ...

My 2 Kobo though ...

Smartest thing I've heard here in a very long time.

Hello house, please I need the input of the gurus in this section on this decision that am about to make.

I'm planning on selling off a property of mine and I intend to invest the proceeds into the e-hailing business. I'm looking at buying 2 cars, give out one to a driver while I drive one myself. Is this a good decision ? and secondly what brand of cars are more suitable for uber/taxify in terms of fuel efficiency, maintenance and aesthetics ?

Thank you.

If you are planning on carrying out such a huge task (risk) then the best thing to do is go back to page 200 and read from there. It will be time consuming but extremely informative. Good luck

Autos / Re: Please Advice Me Between Kia Rio And Hyundai Accent by cross8701: 4:23am On Mar 04, 2018
Please pay no attention to the first response. Both Rio and the Accent are extremely reliable cars. I own 2 Kia Rio(s) and recently acquired an Accent all within the years you mentioned which are used for Uber. The parts are readily available and are not particularly expensive. Hyundai is the parent company of Kia and the cars you mentioned both use mostly identical parts so it really boils down to the look you prefer. I went for the American versions as they come with better options. Hope this helps and good luck with your search.

And how do you determine who contributes the major share?

The only reason why an investor doesn't drive Uber himself is because his time is worth more than he may make during the same period driving.

A labour on site makes upwards of 2000 in a day. Bricklayers get 3000. It is to be expected that a driver makes more than that.

I think drivers are the largest contributors of resources in the e hailing business. I plan to drive Uber so I can understudy the business well for future investment, because e hailing hasn't even reached 1/10th of it's potential . Believe me e hailing will create billionaires.

But I dont see myself driving Uber for more than 2 months. No offense and all respect to all the hard working driver here , I troway salute but Uber drivers are seriously underpaid. Making 10k a day after deliver and fuel is war except in weekends.

That is 300k a month. 300k a month for all my time? 12 hours a day?

Also do not forget that there are no prospects of promotion with the job. A 12 hour job leaves you with little space for yourself and for development.

Basically, you may be permanently confined to the driver's seat for the foreseeable future if not careful.

The secret ingredient in Uber is the driver, if it is it the not the driver , Uber would just grade the car once and for all and assume that the car was all that was needed for a smooth trip. But no, it is not so.

Uber has always marketed it's business as an alternative to a conventional office job not as a subordinate or inferior job. Remember the it's an office with a different view advert. This requires considerable labour resources in terms of intelligence and strength.

Can a lazy man put in 12 hours of work? And if you think labour is labour, find one aboki trailer driver and give him your car to drive.

Bottom line, labour is not labour.

And your 2 million CAR is the second most important thing in the e haling business. Lagos yellow cabs had existed as well as car hires all around town before Uber came. So why the craze for Uber? Even people who can't afford it want a piece of this luxurious service.

I'll tell you what makes it special, a driver with a semblance of class and poise who can engage you in a conversation in a nice environment.

And according to some of them the market is flooded. I tire for some people

read and digest. Its stated 15k after expenses and while driving part time probably after closing from payed employment or days business.

Although he can aim a bit higher, say 25-30k

I guess him no want hardworking coupled with his daily runs, if not low productivity will set in.

Sorry try and understand the context of my remarks. If a driver can earn 15k a day be it full time or part time and the Op is willing to work almost 8 hours a day during the week and full time weekends, then 15k target a week is poor remittance for his hard work hence why I said to aim higher. I assumed that was obvious but go figure

To the experts in the house, I am planning to get a car with a budget btw #800k-1m to start uber business where I will work majorly from 4:30pm -12am during the week and work full day during weekend, any advice as to how to achieve this? I will like to make a minimum of 15k per week after removal of all expenses.

15k a week surely that's ridiculous. Most serious drivers make that a day. I really think you need to set your ambitions higher.

This thread once had lots of hardworking drivers like egbon chillex, romeo, ogunvic (the driver not d fleet manager), myself, blacklola and others, competing daily and weekly, motivating everybody but unfortunately, its been hijacked by lazy drivers that say 100k in a week is not achievable, that say you cannot work 14 hours a day ( how many hours do bankers work), that try to force their conditions on car owners (why u no get car). That say drivers cant earn more than car owners (i continously earned nore than car owners, till i got mine). Pleaee, if u cant do it, keep quiet amd stop demoralizong people. Davenoja, keep it up abeg.

Careful now before they call you a slave. The fact that they are incapable of doing it, they make up silly excuses.

Are you trying to tell me what's good for my business , Business I have been doing for couple of years

If only you know the meaning of slavery.

Face ur driving

Leave it, sometimes it's not worth getting into a conversation with people. The fact still remains nobody forces anyone to sign up to 50k a week deal. If you can't negotiate to what suits you then walk away. I will never expect a driver to pay 50k a week but if someone else does and the driver accepts then that's their own problem. Once something like this comes up you see some drivers trying to bring down weekly remittance. If it's easy buy your own car. Truth remains Partners need drivers and vice versa but make no mistake about it, partners have the upper hand. Some will be saying the market has slowed down while others are quietly cleaning out.

Just saw this page, I am 25, well I am a Corp member,m too, I have like 6m in my account, wondering if I could get four Toyota carmy 05 and give out for rental, I mean Uber. I have few questions to ask.
Who owns those cars at the end? Uber or me
Hope I will get sincere, ethical, virtuous, honest drivers easily?
Who will pay for maintenance, fuel etc?
I am a very quiet and I hate being cheated, hope I will get 20k per week for each car with no stories , I don't ask for much, I am considerate.
Hope no stories about car theft at the end because some people are weird etc

If you have that kind of money to invest then the least you can do is do some proper research. Go back to page 200 and read from there.

Afternoon... Require your feedback please. Hyundai Accent 2007-2010, what is your take on reliability, is it as good as it's counterpart Kia Rio? I am considering adding to my Uber vehicles. Is there anything I should be weary of? Thanks

Scammer:
Whew.

I've been very busy I totally forgot I had a thread here.

Car arrived in cotonou about mid January.
The guy who was supposed to clear gave me issues. I had to pay extra 50k to the 300k I gave him earlier. Note this is cotonou duty, Not Nigeria duty

The car was towed to a park where accident cars are always repaired.
I gave a strict instruction about not tampering it or cranking. Until I get there.
I went to see my beauty along with my favorite mechanic from lagos.
He checked some fuses and some areas of the car to see if car has serious water damage.
Enine oil and transmission oil looked clean.

We got a battery to crank.
Dash lights came on. If you push the start button the lights go off but won't crank.
After much diagnosis Starter motor was the culprit.
Starter motor was replaced the second day.
Car cranked and poured to life.

But the car was rough idling.

There are some issues.

The airbag light is permanently on. (Maybe the srs module got wet.)

Check engine light and one other yellow light is on.

The car stereo is not coming on.

But everyother thing works perfectly.

At this point I'm quite relaxed. And the known issues are very minor.

Car will be flown to lagos next week.
All in all.
I'm thankful.
No pictures for now for private reasons.

Fantastic.... Not that I had any doubts.

You are very stupid for this senseless comment. I am entitled to my opinion, if you don't agree you can simply crawl back to the cave you came from.

I started the business with the same Camry 2007 and from driving it myself I have bought two other corollas(Tokunbo) in one year that I now give out on rental and HP. "Unfortunate" and my name can't appear in the same sentence.

I know from experience that Camry 07 and above is not the kind of car you give someone on rental. You get less (35k) compared to a corolla (40k) and you spend more maintaining a Camry.

NB: If you don't want you and your generation to be truly unfortunate, don't quote me again.

How does one argue with a muppet!!!! Bye Felicia grin grin grin grin

Bad business If you're not driving it yourself. Sell it and buy a 1.8ltr engine car.

If someone is unfortunate to listen to someone like you, they end up achieving nothing.

Honestly, romeo3 and ogunvic41 are scammers... the 50k weekly payment was to lure you and extort you.

You can imagine you will buy phone for the driver, and spectranet modem, and also a fuel of 30k. at the end you will still pay another 20k for drivers useless training, not to talk of the very expensive mechanic maintenance.

Nobody is talking about the drivers default, which many drivers like @bodefakorede are using to scam plenty of partners.

Nobody is asking these boys questions, their history, how they started... they only come here and claim graduate..Forget; these boys no enter school, if ogunvic41 enter school, he will behave maturely. ogunvic41 is just a danfo driver, that migrate from danfo to uber, now claiming poch.

Bank drivers and others are being employed.... The partner has not employed you so you can't compare. It seems you have been going on about this all day and what you fail to realise is that a lot of partners are reading your comments and will have reservations about giving you their cars. I don't ask for deposits (although am seriously considering) but if a partner has a right to ask anything when it comes to their investment, it is your choice to walk away. My advice stop responding to every comment about deposit and face the main issue of getting a car...... All the best with your search my brother.

I don't think he was initially being rude and more like a way of speaking. I read the package and it didn't come across as particularly unclear. It's N50k weekly before deductions are made and this where terms and conditions come to play. Also I don't think one needs an MBA to successfully run any business. The most successful CEOs don't have nor need an MBA. When we are online, what someone writes may sound completely different from what another person reads.
